Fast, friendly and best of all they have spring rolls now!!

I have been here once in awhile and although I normally do not like Pho and my husband tries to get me to go out for this noodle soup at least once a week.  I do like their's. This is saying a lot.

Pho Than Brothers was my second pho experience, and it was far better than my first. I ordered the #1 and some peppermint tea. It came out fast and was nice and hot. The flavor was pretty good.

Prices seem like they're pretty in line with what other pho places are charging, and the small wasn't so small.

Pho is just pure comfort food, on a rainy day, on a snowy day, on a sunny day. It can be enjoyed on all seasons, maybe that's why it has become so popular across many cultures. To me, it's just a bowl of soup with noodles and meat. Nothing special. But I'm not going to hate on Pho Than Brothers just because I despise Pho.

There is one good thing, Pho Than Brothers has a secret weapon that caught me off guard. It is also served on the opening of a meal, their cream puffs. Believe me, luscious cream packed in soft pastry, I'm in Nirvana. Maybe this is the reason I'm cutting them slack. It improves my mood before I taste my Pho, so therefore, a good review spills off my mouth. Oh Pho Than Brothers, what forgery, what bribery you have served to me from the beginning. You smart, sly wolves!

No comment on the Pho, but GET THE CREAM PUFFS only!!!!!!!! (I need emphasis, hence, the caps lock and the exclamation marks) If you can, order the cream puffs individually, more than what's complimentary. I solemnly swear they're just so wonderful. It makes me sad that every time we eat, they are only served one per person, sometimes I even try to steal some of my friend's cream puffs. This innocent looking cream puff can jump start World War III. By stealing, I mean looking so sad and desperate that my friends can't help but pity me. I know, why do so much for a cream puff you say? This cream puff is my Klondike Bar. Why do you do so much for a Klondike Bar then?

Once, I ordered a full batch of 24 cream puffs to go to munch on at home, you should've seen the look on the aunty's face: "You're not here for pho? Who is this crazy little girl? Did you pick her up, Nam? Just give her, her damn cream puffs." This is my guilty pleasure, my lover, my affair, my comfort food. My everything. Oh the things I would do for you, dear cream puff. You don't even know.

Ok so I am seriously addicted to PHO and I have hit up quite a few places but there is one that I keep coming back to because it is consistently the best. Tasty broth, fresh veggies and ample amounts of meat for a reasonable price (used to be waaay cheaper before everybody discovered PHO). They know me there and treat me well and always put extra chili oil in my togo. Lady behind counter is cute and very cool!

Best Pho ever.  The original addiction starter, only it was the Ballard location that hooked me.  After having other Pho, I feel like I can taste the freshness of the ingredients including the meat. The broth has a hint of lime sweetness.   The prices are remarkably low too.

    This place is pho-cking awesome.

I've been to this Than Brothers location, and the one by Greenlake, also on Aurora (aka Highway 99). I'd have to say that the Edmonds location is better than the Greenlake one!

The pho is delicious. The sizes have the perfect portions with a great price. I usually get the small size for $5, and I'm always full. If I'm hungry enough, I could probably chow down a medium sized bowl, but for me, a small is perfect. As usual, every order comes with the plate of bean sprouts, basil leaves, jalapeno slices and limes, and the cream puff.

This location is noticeably cleaner than the Greenlake location. There's a fish tank right when you enter, and there are still mirrors on the wall (I'm telling you, if you sit next to the walls, don't catch yourself looking in the mirrors while slurping up noodles. It's not a pretty sight for anyone).

If you're ever up North in the Edmonds area, I suggest stopping by Than Brothers. It's in a little strip mall-ish lot, so it might be a little hard to catch if you're going southbound on Aurora.

No bueno. I don't know why people like this place. Okay, it may be cheap and they give you a cream puff... but to me, it's not worth it. They don't really provide great service and their broth is just mediocre. Throw in their cash only policy and it just doesn't cut it for me. I don't really appreciate the whole racially profiling thing either; they tend to service you better if you're not of Asian descent. HELLO! I'm a paying customer too.

That being said, there are other Vietnamese spots that serve up an AWESOME bowl o' pho and I'm willing to give up a dingy cream puff for that.

We go for lunch or dinner - they're usually pretty busy, but haven't ever had to wait for a table yet.

Parking: Easy - shared lot at boohan plaza

Ambiance: ambiance?  what do you expect from the Asian equivalent to McDonalds?

Service: they toss the cream puffs and veggie plate onto your table, you wave your arm to hail a waiter to take your order, food comes minutes later - big plus!  you walk up to the counter to pay your bill - long story short - not much service, but hey, you've got to remember it's Asian fast food.

Food: Large portions - I get a small and my hubby gets a medium and we still have enough to share with our 6 yr old.  The cream puffs which are served as a free appetizer works great for us as a mini dessert.

Recommendation: Much healthier alternative to Costco food court or Arbys down the street and only for a couple more bucks.  Great if you're feeling under the weather - especially in this weather!

I don't like salty broth and they strike a good balance between flavor / saltiness.

the pho is delicious !!  worth the hour drive from south seattle.  fast services and the ice coffee is very good. By far- this Than brother has the best tasting pho broth.  Disappointing that the  than brother's  in Federal Way doesn't  have the same tasty pho-   they should share ingredients :)

other than an hour drive- i love this place. Whenever we  visit family up north- we always make sure we stop in for pho!

We love this no-nonsense place !  Cash only, dessert and condiments set up front, fast service and the pho is healthy, fresh and satisfying without getting stuffed.  Perfect in all kinds of weather and especially at that first inkling of an encroaching sore throat.  Restraint is required to not eat the cream puffs before the pho arrives.

I never came out of this place with someone who didn't want to go back here soon. Quick service - love their pho! On cold nights, it's so good to get their pho, with a warm honey tea. Their custard puffs are good too, we always get them to go :) The only thing I don't like about this place is the cash-only policy. One time I forgot about this, and ended up j-walking across the street to the gas station for the atm. Brought friends and family from out of town, of all places they miss Pho Than Brothers the most - no kidding. Don't expect 'warm' and 'friendly' waiter though, they get things done very quickly but don't really bother to throw a quick smile to you.  When our foods arrived and we thanked the waiter, he just muttered a quick and awkward-but-funny "ehh" which made us crack up.

I love going to pho places.  I haven't been here in forever.  I'm use to going to bamboo house in Bothell, but it was nice to come back to one of my favorite pho places.  I ended up getting a large 14.  I've noticed they've raised the prices, but in this economy, the prices have gotta go up at sometime.

I got a large #14, which basically had everything in it.  I like the everything bowl cause it gives a chance to sample all the meats.  I think tendon is one of my favorite things because of the texture.  It's not for everyone, but i enjoyed it.  I drank about half of the broth.  I would drink more of it, but my stomach could not contain that much liquid.

One of highlights of Than Bros is the fact that they give you a cream puff with each order.  I think that's the highlight.

One of the other things that I really like here is their french coffee.  It comes with a lot of condensed milk. I ended up getting it cold, which they server with a cup full of ice and in a french press.  It's fun just to see the coffee come out, and being able to mix it with the condensed milk at the bottom.  I had to add some extra water, but overall a great experience.

Be sure to bring cash, cause that's the only thing they accept.

Best place for pho in the area.  I frequent this location, as well as the one near Greenlake.  It's not fancy by any means, but they consistently have the best pho in the area.  They are always ok with modifications too.

Even without the cream puffs (which are awesome) they are the best.  Priced about average and service is ok - right on par with other places. But in the end, it's all about the food, and theirs is the best.

Also -- they sell the cream puffs separately, and pretty inexpensively, which make for a great treat when you need to bring single serving desserts in a hurry (great for classroom parties, kids' sports team snacks, etc)

    Lucky pho!!

I used to come here with my mom after interviews and I would get the job afterward! Once I took my friend and then she got a call WHILE WE WERE AT LUNCH for an interview! Ok so my success rate isn't 100% anymore (since these aren't little part-time jobs anymore) but its still pretty good! I come here whenever I need luck. hehe.

So the pho has changed a bit over the years.  There's more MSG in the broth now unfortunately, but its still good.  I also don't like that they use wooden chopsticks.

    Good luck! hehe

The best pho place I have ever been to.
    a) The soup and noodles and everything are delicious and consistent.
    b) You can get a huge bowl for like 6 dollars. Perfect.
    c) Their jalapenos are actually spicy and give my soup a nice kick.
    d) The cream puffs that come with your noodles. I'm not a cream puff person myself, but if I was I'm sure I would love that part of the pho than brothers.
No joke, if I could have pho than brothers every day I would. But I would probably get pretty fat because they're so good I just wouldn't be able to control myself.

you can tell a lot about a pho joint just by lookin at their menu. kinda like going to a steak house and ordering seafood or a chicken wing joint and expecting the best beef burger... pho thanh brothers does just pho. and nothing else. a master of their trade. and that i can respect - as i'll never EVER eat at a pho restaurant that serves teriyaki as well.

big open seating area - i've been a few times and never had to wait for a seat. and i love that pho is typically premade (the longer the broth simmers the better tasting) so ur order is typically out within 5 minutes of ordering.

and their cream puffs (which is odd to me gets served at the beginning) are to die for! great place!

It pains me to only give them 3 stars, so let's pretend it's 3.5 for my sake.

I've been a frequent diner at this location for at least two years. The woman who runs the place knows me, what I eat each time I get there, and asks me about school and work (and when I went in today, told me she'd missed me since I relocated to a new job that isn't up the street from this location). I would have written a 5 star review any time prior to this one because I love their pho and loved walking out and smelling like pho for the rest of the day. But today's pho was just.... blah. Something's missing. They changed people in the kitchen, or something but it's just not the same. The broth is off, and there seems to be a lot more cilantro in my soup than previous times I've been. I walked away with a full tummy like always, but I didn't sit at my soup and devour all of their broth like it's delicious candy (which I have been known to do).

Than Brothers, I love you but this last visit made me sad. :(

The restaurant deserves no stars .The worst service I ever had in my life. The waiter didn't ask if we finished, he just started to clean up our table and lead people on waiting line to our table to sit. He told the those people to tell us to leave so they can sit at our table. And the waiter took our tips on the table.

I could have gave more star but I did not like the soup. It is not because it does not taste good but I think they aid some extra stuff that I did not like.
The soup taste like they add some kind Chinese herb/leafs that taste little like lemon grass (per my friend the chef).  I really wish they did not put that extra stuff.

As for the free cream puffs- does not taste too good. I guess I'm used good fresh cream puffs.

Good pho and I love the free cream puffs! I'm not sure how but the cilantro they put in has too many stems. At the end of a bite I'm left chewing stems like a cow munchin' on chud. Broth, meat, and noodles are great, just less chud please :-)

Oh yea, cash only. I've pulled up and left for the atm several times.

Than Brothers has pretty solid pho, I must say.  I had the small veggie pho (which came with tofu and mushrooms) and it was quite delicious.  Lots of noodles, lots of tofu, and tasty broth!  They also bring you plenty of bean sprouts and thai basil so you can load up on that as well.  My bowl was overflowing with all the deliciousness.

The place, yes, has a cream puff with your meal as well!  It was fairly delicious and a good end to the meal.  I've had better cream puffs at Pho Thy Thy in the U District, however...

I was a little surprised to find that this place is cash only.  I can understand for most small businesses why they have the cash only policy.  However, since this place is part of a pretty large chain, it definitely caught me off guard.

The service was also a bit weird, as my friend Meghan K. mentioned.  They spent most of the meal taking items off of our table and bringing them back later on.  I'm assuming that they were working to refill everything, but it was kind of awkward to have them taking things away one by one and bringing them back one by one throughout the entire meal without saying a word.

I did enjoy the pho here and I would like to come back.  Hopefully the service will be a little less awkward next time.  And hopefully I will remember to bring cash!!

The service is quick and they keep the place clean. The only bad part is that you come out of the place smelling like Pho all day. Besides that everything about the place is great.

I know what your thinking.  Yup, I'm psychic.  "Than Brothers?  The Pho chain?  5 stars?"  Yes.  Not just yes, hell yes.  You got a problem with that you can take it up with management.

Edmonds has a lot of Pho places within 5-10 minute driving distance from my place so this location somehow eluded me.  Well, now it's on my radar and I don't reckon any Pho in Seattle will challenge it anytime soon.

I stuck with my usual - tendon and brisket.  After being seated it came out three minutes later, tops.  Great meat and veggies.  The broth was piping hot and spicy and is the best tasting broth I've encountered in any Pho joint so far.  Pop in a couple jalapenos and I'm on cloud nine.

Yes, that's right, I found cloud nine level Pho at Than Brothers in Edmonds.

Sampled many different pho places in San Diego, tried other pho places (Pho Hao in Woodinville, Pho Tu Do in Lynnwood) in Seattle, heard about Than Brothers, went there, read the reviews, and now I write one.  Interesting thing is, this place got dissed by several reviewers as a "chain" and "McDonald-esque". So, you can't please all of the people all of the time. You can look at a bowl of pho as a finished product, or you can look at pho as a blank canvas. I fall into the latter category.

I thought the pho was excellent, and it's probably to my benefit that I had a chance to try other pho joints before landing here. It was rather hard to find, it's right on the corner of what's primarily a Korean Shopping Center, and if you're going Southbound, you'll fly right by.

After being seated, you better be looking at that menu under the glass instead of yapping with your lunch or dinner dates, because they'll be taking your order when your ass hits that seat. Prices are the most reasonable that I've seen in Seattle thus far. Typical condiments are available on the table.  Before your dish comes, the sides of bean sprouts, basil, lime, and jalapenos come to the table. Along with this, you'll get a cream puff. Before I could even get to the cream puff, the pho hit the table.

I made the mistake of ordering the XL bowl. Ever go to a Chinese restaurant and order Egg Drop Soup? Or go to a Thai joint and order the Tom Yum Gai? Comes in a big soup taurine that can serve four people. Well, that's what the XL bowl looks like, it's ridiculous. Anyway, pho and broth were excellent. A bit heavy on cilantro (big chunks of stem), but I can overlook it and order light cilantro next time. And, no disrespect to the cream puff, it gets a lot of press, and I'm sure it's made with loving care (with a tender backstory of the birth of the restaurant), but I think it's the red herring for the Than Brothers. The pho is really good, its' all they serve!

Than brothers is hands-down the best bowl of pho in this area in my opinion!  The prices are great and the soup is simply delicious.

They do not have anything else on the menu besides pho, but they have perfected it!  I also typically get the iced coffee with condensed milk.  They serve it with the coffee steeping above the glass.  It is very strong, flavorful coffee.

After your meal, you will get complimentary cream filled pastries.  Very yummy and the perfect little dessert snack after the fabulous soup.

My ONLY complaint is that they don't take credit or debit cards, so make sure you go with cash in hand.  Than Bros is a must try if you're a fan of Vietnamese soup!

We eat here several times a month. It's that good! My boyfriend refuses to eat Pho anywhere else! The service used to suck when the owner's husband use to manage the front, but since over a year ago, we haven't seen him once. Now the service is better not to mention it's always been super fast. You walk in, sit down and order, not even 5 Min's later you have your meal. It's the cheapest Pho place we've ever been at 4.95 for a small. Can't beat that! Noodles seems like they are made in house and it's way better than other places we've gone where the noodles are all swollen and gross. Only thing I wish they had were fresh rolls because I love them and I can't make my boyfriend go anywhere else just so I can have my fresh rolls. =(

Okay - There is every justification in the WORLD right now to raise prices, especially at an establishment that is already renowned for having insanely low prices.  I'm not mad that Than Brothers (all locations) raised their prices - I'm just a little surprised that they raised it over a dollar more, why not raise it incrementally so I would barely notice?

What used to be $3.85 small bowl of pho is now $4.95 - reasonable, but quite the difference.  That's my only gripe though - still same great broth, sizable portions of meat and noodles, not to mention the infamous included cream puff, and of course prompt service.  If only they would refill my water...
