This is my last resort pho restaurant I go to if there is no other way to go somewhere else.

The Pho is made to accomodate the typical Korean tastebuds (which I don't like). I want some of that real, authentic, oily pho!

Their interior is pretty nice, which is rare for a vietnamese pho restaurant. They recently started seeling frozen yogurt too, but I would rather go to Bliss in the Commons, which has more variety and toppings.

The greatest part of Pho Tai is their hours.  They are open weekdays till midnight and friday and saturday till 4am.  I cant tell you how many late nights end at pho tai.  Its not the greatest pho but it hits the spot late at night.  the service is not very good but the portions make up for it.   Its 6.25 for a  small bowl or 7.00 for a large.  Its kinda a no brainer, $.75 for almost double the pho?  Well worth it and affordable.  The spring rolls are also quite tasty.

A tangy frozen yogurt place that serves up really generous portions for just $3.

Cool!

Oh, wait. This isn't a tangy frozen yogurt place. It's a pho place.

I think they should just ditch the pho and reengineer themselves to be a full-on tangy frozen yogurt place.

Their interior is nice enough.

Clean, modern and slightly more upmarket than any other pho place in Puget Sound (including What the Pho in Bellevue, Washington).

Sure would look great as a tangy frozen yogurt place.

Before, when this place was owned by different people, there pho was my favorite! But ever since these new people started running it, there food is gross. Service is horrible. And not to mention it is so unsanitary. You walk in, there are tables everywhere that have yet to be cleaned. Flies everywhere.
I love the fact there open so late, but only if it was good.
FOR SURE, not the best in federal way. I would not recomend.

Man, why do I do it? I've been here before and was never satisfied with their pho or teriyaki dishes. I guess I go back because it's the only place open after 9-10pm in Federal way. They're smart to open late, people will come because of that. But their pho broth is terrible. One time I could see the lady cook in the back making a big pot of pho broth and the soup was spilling over the rim and onto the floor.

Order:
Bahn Mi BBQ chicken sandwich

Price: About $5

I gave their bahn mi a try since their teriyaki and pho sucks. This sandwch was not the best I've had, but it'll do for being in FedWay. Very, very difficult for me to wanna eat there again.

**Edit** I had to reduce them to one star because my friend who had Chicken Yakisoba last night with me just called to tell me that he just puked it back up and is now sick. WTF Pho Tai?! I'm calling the Dept of Health!! haha!

This is place is always busy...it's not that the Pho is bad, it's actually alright (just Pho..never tried other things) but boy are the service so terrible that you want to get your own water, your own food, and your own bills.  Usually when they are packed, it becomes so chaotic that at times they made me wait for half an hour just to be seated, another 10 min to get the water.

And about their froyo (frozen yogurt) they are always out of toppings...either they don't carry any or they only have sprinkles when the ad says it has more then sprinkles...

Sandwichs are way over priced!!!  Almost 4 dollars for one when you can eat a really nice one in downtown for 2.50...

And one more complaint, they're whole building has open ceiling so you can totally hear the workers making all kinds of noise and at times becomes very distracting when you sit next to the kitchen.

Hopefully the manager can do something about it...

Short Version:  Food Bad, Frozen Yogurt Good.

Long Version:

wow, i cannot believe this place got such great reviews.  i have to say that the only person i agree with is albert and his one-star review.

now, i'd like to note that i did NOT have the pho here.  i love pho too much and trust chain pho places too little to take a risk like that.  i did, however, order a vietnamese sandwich and an order of eggrolls and gyoza to share with my sister.  i thought these were items that would be easier to make, or at least harder to get wrong, but pho tai obliged and showed me how you COULD get it wrong.

the "bbq chicken" they used for the sandwich just tasted like salted meat.  salted and soy-sauced. it was so salty, i had to drink a gallon of water after every bite.  they didn't use enough veggies in the sandwich, either...  the eggrolls were nasty (kinda burnt, and the innards were all weird).

now to the service:  the service was actually okay.  they gave us a free little sample of their frozen yogurt, and speaking of the frozen yogurt,

THE FROZEN YOGURT was BOMB (it actually tasted like what regular yogurt would taste like if you froze it), so i gave them an extra star for that.

in conclusion, i will definitely have to go back for the frozen yogurt, but i will never eat there again.

Pho here USED TO be great. Owners of this place sold it to a buyer that for sure has not took care of the restaurant and lived up to the name. I loved the soup and the service. Now, service is mediocre and the restaurant is disgusting. Everytime I pass there, I saw at least 4 dishes ready to be cleaned that aren't getting their attention.
Ugh, they need to do something quick!
Maybe having takeout is better? I dont know if the soup is the same, probably not.

**Update**
I made the mistake of listening to someone who told me that the management has changed. So I decided to give this place another try. BAD MISTAKE.

At least they can say they are consistent since the Pho still sucks. The broth is bland, the noodles are undercooked. There is no taste whatsoever to their Pho. Never again will I eat here.

The worst thing someone can say about an Asian restaurant is that the food is cooked for foreigners and is not authentic. Pho Tai is one of these restaurants.

Although I will say their frozen yogurt is really good. I agree with Adine and I will be back for the frozen yogurt but they will no longer take any more of my money and my valuable stomach space with their other nasty ass food.

**Previous Review**

Ok first off I'm Vietnamese and from the Little Saigon area in Cali. I can say I know Pho as well as an American knows hamburgers, a Korean knows Kimchi, etc..

Actually this is my first review and I wasnt even planning on writing one until I saw Pho Tai get almost 5 freaking stars. I went here with my parents visiting from the Cali and we only went here because this is the only Pho restaurant in Federal Way that is open before 10am (which I can't understand since places in Cali open at 5am, afterall Pho is mostly a breakfast noodle) but that is another gripe I have.

Anyhow this place sucks. Wow I can't remember the last time I couldnt eat at least half a bowl and I WAS HUNGRY. The soup was like something I make at home (and I dont know how to cook Pho), noodles were undercooked, and they don't give you enough basil. The only thing I can say is their Tai (raw beef slices) was not bad. But I can't even give them credit for that, only the farmer who raised the cow could get that credit.

Stay away. Now I can't tell you any other place here with good Pho since most of them suck here, but this PLACE IS THE WORST.

Stay home, but some cup o' noodles and save your money.

Best pho in Federal Way hands down. I'm a picky pho eater too!

The food is quick even when it's a packed house. There is no inconsistency in the food, I know how the food will be when I get there.

The place is really good for kids as well and its family friendly which is a plus with a family like mine.. :)

Terrible pho, terrible service! I don't mind Pho Tai locations elsewhere, but this one is absolutely under par. The one on Capital Hill is good, so please don't judge all Pho Tai places on this location, but definitely don't come here!

Talk about a meal, this place was great! Our food was at our table within 5 minutes upon placing our order. We feasted on the shrimp, noodle and basil spring rolls dipped in a thai peanut sauce. Our noodle dishes consisted of noodles (of course), steak, meatballs, bean sprouts, fresh basil, scallions. Add a little oyster & garlic chili sauce and were in business!! There other noodle dishes to choose from as well as teriyaki. Soup so good.......makes you wanna slap your mama! :)

i have to say pho here is not the best.  and there are a few pho places around anyway...  one time we actually looked out side the box, or this time looked after the first page of the menu, and found out they serve shabu shabu, with pho broth...instead of no flavor japanese broth.  so we ordered for 2 it was 20 some dollars, and the portion of the meal was very satisfying...we actually believe that since not too many people order shabushabu here, they don't really know how to control the portion so they over served us....they will bring you at least a pound of sliced beef, and mushrooms, bakchoys, and other stuff, and even bring you rice noodles  so you can make fake pho yourself.  and for the desert, they now serve frozen yogurt similar to red mango or pinkberry, except their $3 portion is twice the amount of red mango.
