Recently, without any clear choices for dinner, I decided to check out this place and and realized the whole area was a "china town" or sorts with lots to choose from. Still, I went with the Noodle House, as it was the place I had decided on beforehand.
When the man at the counter asked if I wanted a large portion or a small and when I asked how big the large was, he simply said "well, if you are very hungry, you should get the large." I was pretty hungry and had never eaten there before, so I went large.
I got the Pho to go and it was ready quickly and the service was great. The bag felt pretty heavy though and when I got home and unpacked it all, it felt like a meal for 3! After getting the right mix of noodles, beef, spicy rooster sauce, hoison and lime, it was really excellent. I'd recommend this place for sure, but unless you are really hungry, stay away from the large portions. (although it was very affordable @6.50)
It's probably the biggest Vietnamese restaurant in Austin.
Every time I ordered Pho. Although they have many Pho choices, I couldn't tell what's the big difference from Pho 1 to Pho 100.
Pho dish has a pretty big size and I couldn't finish it. I took the leftover to go. But the Pho tastes pretty bad after it was reheated on the second day. So if you can't finish Pho, don't bother to take it home.
We ordered some jelly dessert and wished it to be as good as Lyly's. But jelly dessert here just tastes like grass jelly. So disappointed.
So I've been back and had the pork vermicelli and traditional Vietnamese spring rolls. All I can say is YUM and GIMME MORE!
I wish they were closer so I could go multiple times a week!
I know their Vietnamese coffee must be good but I keep going on a weeknight and haven't wanted to be up all night long. One of my friends gets them and says they're delicious.

After moving to San Antonio only to find that there was no PHO there... I am so happy to be back in… Read more »
For some reason Pho is really popular right now. Pho and Mad Men are the new hipster status symbol for 2009. If you tell your friends and co-workers that you had Pho for lunch it lets them know that you're way past turkey sandwiches and diet soda.... You're sophisticated. You eat Vietnamese food!
You can even impress your friends more by saying, "I had Pho for dinner and then watched season 1 of Mad Men". I don't think there is a more perfect evening of activities for 2009.
It's not as if Pho is new... it's been around forever. But the sudden boom in Pho has brought tons of new Vietnamese restaurants into Austin, and they've all added "Pho" to their name. They take their current names, add in "Pho", and boom... eager customers waiting to try this "Pho" that everyone is talking about.
I'm not into Pho... or Mad Men for that matter.... so, I just wanted a really delicious bowl of noodles and Pho Saigon delivered! The restaurant kind of reminds me of a mall food court, so I was skeptical, but that didn't last too long.... The chicken was amazing, the noodles were delicious, and the vegetables were fresh.... I loved every bite of it.
I'm sure their Pho is fine.... but my suggestion is to venture into the noodle bowls. Delicious.
I have a new goal...to try every Vietnamese restaurant on Lamar. This may take a few years especially after trying Pho Saigon Noodle House because I know I will be returning repeatedly preventing me from trying the many others out there.
I had the vermicelli with lemongrass beef and an egg roll. It was a ton of food and cost less than $8.00!!! The lemongrass beef was delicious and fresh. I would say just as good as Sunflowers but you don't get those yummy green beans with it.
Service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was clean and large. We did not have time, but next time after dinner I'd like to check out the Asian Market nearby.
The other Lamar Vietnamese restaurants may just have to wait because I have much more to try, including the pho, at Pho Saigon!
Yum!!! I'm no pho expert, but my bowl of white meat chicken pho was delicious. I ordered the small bowl because I saw the larges and knew I could never eat that much. I was correct. I ate about 1/3 of my soup and brought the rest home, and am so excited to have it for lunch tomorrow.
One thing to take note of: the paying process is a little strange. You don't get a check, you just go up to the counter and tell them your table number (you'll see it at your table). Very reasonably priced!
Can't wait to come back!!
Had a craving for pho because I was not in the mood for fast food and there is only so much I can take of sandwiches.
I walk in and there's a line. No leaving your name and waiting for you name to get called. Just walk in and stand in a line. The line may be long but they seat in within 5 minutes at most.
I sit down at the bar since I'm only one person. Less than 3 minutes the waitress comes and takes your order. I ordered the pho and a coconut drink. Actually I order by the number. She tries to remember my order and I have to repeat it. Believe I would do the same thing if I wasn't writing it down.
The food comes quickly and I'm full already. Forgot how it came make you full. I was out of there in 20 minutes but not in a bad way.
If I ever have a craving for pho...I know I'll go here.
"Saigon... shit; I'm still only in Saigon... Every time I think I'm gonna wake up back in the jungle." If you know where this quote is from, you're obviously awesome.
I have been on an Asian food kick over the past week (cheap & delicious). I think I have gone out to eat Asian food at least 4 times. This one definitely stood out, not just because of the excellent company that I had, but also for the speed and prices of the food.
Being a vegetarian I do not get to enjoy Pho, which I hear is freakin amazing, but I did get to have a delicious vermicelli, tofu, and vegetables bowl.
I didn't time how long it took me to get my food, but I doubt that more than 5 minutes passed after I ordered before I had a piping hot bowl of noodles and goodness sitting in front of me. The portions were huge. It ended up being two full meals for me.
Being a vegetarian, I like to consider myself a tofu connoisseur. The way that this tofu was cooked, was excellent. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. YUM.
The waitress was very nice and obviously not American as she could not speak English very well. That doesn't bother me in the least, in fact, it makes my dining experience more authentic.
My companion got an enormous bowl of Pho with "meatballs". The "meatballs" looked particularly gross, but she seemed to like them. I wonder what "meat" they were made of.... I was really impressed with how generous they were with the basil. Seriously a whole plant had to be sacrificed for this meal haha. They also gave her a huge mound of beans sprouts.
Anyhoo, I'll definitely be back. The only reason I docked a star is because the ambience is pretty lackluster. There are flatscreen TVs all over the place, which makes it feel more like a bar then a restaurant.
The place is always alive. Lots of tvs showing big games. Nice, loud place full of chatter makes it comfortable.
The rice with chargrilled pork and eggroll is the best. Having eaten at numerous Vietnamese restaurants from Austin to Dallas, this one tops them all. They give the most meat and the tastiest.
The service isn't super friendly (Vietnamese are notorious for slow and rude service anyway), but it's quick. You can be in and out in thirty minutes flat.
Just heaping on the love for this place as I agree with the majority of the reviews. Their pho is the hot diggity bomb. The broth really is wonderful and clear and tasty and fragrant. Almost all of my friends agree that the pho here is the best - except for my one friend who doesn't eat pho at restaurants because she makes it at home herself. But she is the exception and if she is making pho, I'd rather have hers as well. For all the rest of us folks who don't have the time to simmer beef oxtails for over 12+ hours we head to Pho Saigon. Same friend however LOVES to come here for the Pho Bo Kho (I think that it is #71) and that is all that she ever orders - it's basically Vietnamese beef stew w/ carrots served over the pho noodles. It's plenty good but not for everyone as it contains tripe.
One of the best things about their pho is that their noodles are not overcooked. That can ruin the entire bowl for me if the noodles are overcooked and break too easily. Also, they do not skimp on the veggies either. You get plenty of fragrant basil, bean sprouts, jalapeno slices and lime wedges. To the person who wrote something about cilantro, I bet if you asked for it, they would bring you some. Also, you can ask for your bean sprouts to be cooked if you don't like them raw. Lastly, when it is in season they also have an additional Vietnamese herb on the plate, ngò gai, which is also known as saw leaf herb. This herb may look like basically a leaf of a weed but it also adds to the flavor of your bowl of pho. Don't be afraid to use it.
The service is efficient and non-intrusive and the small bowl is HUGE and will fill up most tummies. The rice dishes are also very yummy and they take credit cards! Now that I am closer to them, I have a feeling that I will be going here...A LOT.
My sister comes for the meat, I come for the tofu. We both get coffee on our way out and leave happy. That summary says a lot.
Ratings: Service: 4/5; Environment: 4/5; Food Quality: 5/5; Extras: 4/5; Coffee: 5/5; Price: 4/5.
In detail, the service is generally really great, with only a few visits being "blah" on that level. One of our waitresses from Kim Phung has actually moved to this location which only pushes the rating even higher up.
The environment is reminiscent of a school cafe, except everything is clean, perfectly working and non-intrusive (so it's as kush as a lunchroom setting can be).
The Pho is the best we've found in Austin, and the speed that it comes out is truly impressive. Every Pho combination we've tried has been awesome here (and I'm not sure why anyone would stray from the Pho selections in the first place). The extras that come with it are more than most places, but still lack a few things such as cilantro and soy. There is some cilantro in the Pho itself, but Pho is an experience of making your own mix in ways... and the cilantro's not up to my normal mix.
The coffee is insane, no matter whether hot or cold. We had no idea they offered it until check-out one day, where we spotted the glasses lined up on the shelves and immediately took steps to correct our oversight on our way out. Our tummies thanked us.
Finally, the value is great for such a high quality. It's a few dollars more than many other Pho places, but the taste combined with the rest of the experience usually make it well worth the added cost... a cost that is still fairly affordable.
I think what impressed me the most was the speed in which our food was brought out. There is no way they could have had it sitting there ready to rock, cuz it was prepared fresh. But jeez-sus it was fast.
There were about 25 kinds of Pho, and while our servers English was limited she was able to help me narrow down what kind of meat I would like. Went for flank and meatballs since I'd never had meatballs. They were interesting. They were poached in the broth so a little pale and sad looking. But the flavor and texture were good - I think it was pork mixed with something.
The small Pho was huge and came with what basically was a giant salad of goodies you could mix in. No cilantro though, which was surprising. Maybe they were out? :(
I ordered an iced coffee which actually never came. Was too busy with the Pho to care. But I did finally request it after our meal, and after it brewed at the table (still fascinates me every time), I took it to go and had it the next day.
I would have liked the ambiance better if it were lunchtime. Otherwise it's really (too) bright, at least half the place is windows to the outside parking lot/shopping center, and there are TVs everywhere. You don't go here to cozy up with some yummy soup and a date. You go here for fast, fresh food.
WARNING! TMI: Had to minus another star because the next morning I had some intestinal drama. I haven't had pasta/noodles in like two months, so maybe that's it. Or maybe it was the meat(meatballs)? Who knows. But figured it was worth mentioning.I would still give this place another shot, cuz it was that tasty.
Went here at lunch today at the request of a coworker who said it was supposedly one of the best Pho places in town. I suppose he was right.
I'm not a huge soup kinda guy, so I opted for just a regular noodle dish. Number 64 if I remember right. Some sort of beef with noodles and the other fixins.
Overall I was supremely happy with my meal. With a little bit of doctoring with some chili sauce to make it "thai" spicy hot, it was darn tasty and most assuredly will make me "pay" later when it starts to settle. EEP. Unlike many Vietnamese places, the meat was what most pasty-white-guys like me would recognize as meat. I opted to stick clear of any of the tripe and whatnot.
The restaurant was supremely clean... Wait staff was reasonably friendly and quick. I would totally eat here again.
Supposedly they take credit cards, but the machine was mysteriously broken... seen that before at a V. restaurant.
How can I improve on the accurate reviews here. This place is great, consistently delicious and satisfying, high quality fare.
It is unfortunate that my first review on Yelp is a negative one, but my (multiple) experiences with this restaurant have fell far below what I feel are basic expectations when dining out. While the pho itself is not bad, it doesn't distinguish itself from any other pho restaurant. What this restaurant did show me was their blatant lack of service or even appreciation for their patrons to select their restaurant from the numerous ones available.
Now, I don't expect a pho restaurant experience to be comparable to dining in at a four star restaurant, but I do expect not to feel rushed. Every time I have dined here, I get a waitstaff person who seems to be annoyed when I'm not ready to order after being seated for 2 minutes. That I can deal with, but my last experience, when my friend shows up before I do at 8:25, and they tell him to order for his friends (me and my boyfriend) because they want to close the kitchen, that's rude. When I get there, and they continue to seat and serve additional patrons AFTER I have arrived no more than 10 minutes later, that is unacceptable.
Not only is my pho not at optimal temperature when I arrive (as it has been sitting out for 10 minutes), they don't even get to close their kitchen earlier as was their original objective. Would it have killed them to let me order when I arrived? Apparently so. I bet they think, "We already have your money, we don't care about your experience, and we're ok with being hypocrites."
Needless to say, I don't recommend this restaurant, and will never dine here again.
I like this place. They put up with my bad Vietnamese here and inability to finish a bowl. My son and wife loved the pho ga thit trang- I would recommend that for the kids (pretty much chicken soup). The pho is very good and the fresh basil you can add is amazingly fresh (I usually stick to a beef pho). The spring rolls are very good and served with a hoison base peanut sauce. The bowls feel never ending. Great place.
I got the small pho with tofu, and it was too much food for me. Usually I can finish a small. I'm not sure if my perception and appetite were off due to a little overconsumption and overexposure to the elements from tubing the Guadalupe the day before, or if this was just a really damn big small. They must have put two packages worth of tofu in there. The garnish plate was equally generous, enough for two soups.
Whatever the answer, this place did the trick in curing me of my woes. The soup was good, the service friendly yet still authentically hasty, and I even enjoyed the bustling lunch hour that filled the place with businessmen, groups of friends, and Vietnamese families.
I think their prices are very comparable to other Austin pho places, and given their huge portions you might get more value here (even if it's still not as cheap as some places in CA). It's an added bonus that the ambiance, with lots of natural light and some care put into decor, is a step up from the standard, yet that isn't reflected in the price.
Since I got a veggie option I can't comment on the beef broth, and without trying either that or the spring rolls, I can't yet rightly give 5 stars. At least they do claim to put mint in their spring rolls, which I've noticed is hard to find in Austin.
My only complaint: no vegetarian egg rolls.
A perfect and pleasant experience that satisfed both hunger and hangover.
Been here twice now. Being Vietnamese, I love pho. This place does a decent job. It's definitely "utility" pho...not the best, but not the worst either. Broth tastes bullion based rather than having the taste of being cooked from beef bones, but it's a serviceable pho. My only gripe is that the prices are a SMIDGE high. A large bowl is almost 7 bucks if I recall. It definitely is large, but I remember back in California as recently as a couple months ago having an equally large but better bowl of pho for around 5.25.
I'll keep coming back, just because Austin has yet to show me a place serving truly excellent pho.
I started my goal of trying to eat healthier today and Pho Saigon is where i began. I really enjoy Pho and Vietnamese food but have not been getting enough lately.
After devouring my Pho Tai lunch today i think that will change. It was very tasty and made me wish i had gotten the large bowl. The noodles were perfect, meat was fine. Squeeze a little lime and hot sauce in and i was into it, barely leaving room for talk with my friend until i was done. Yup, it was so good it just shut me up.
I am pretty disappointed that i did not get some Boung Thit Noung Cha Ya to go for dinner later. No problem though as I'm coming back here soon.
Okay, here's all I remember about algebra:
A) I love big tasty bowls of white chicken pho.
B) Pho Saigon Noodle House has big tasty bowls of white chicken pho.
C) I love Saigon Noodle House.
Sometimes, it's fun to be cheap. Split an order of spring rolls, a pho for you, a pho for me, and put a chopstick in us for less than $18. Most of my invitees see the fun of it.
Pho broth = bomb.
Iced coffee = superbomb.
No thick rice noodles = not bomb, minus one star.
Some black substance in one of our water cups = even worse not bomb, minus another star.
Everytime I came here, I ordered PHO or Vermichelli. They are great! I have been eating PHO in many restaurants in Austin. So far, this is the best. Why? The veggies / herbs with the PHO is a loooot.
And the potion is the biggest ;) Cost is still reasonable.
If I feel I need veggies, I come here and order PHO.
One more thing what I like here is the bathroom is super clean :)
I am from north Dallas, and most of our Vietnamese restaurants there are just average. You have to head further south to get good Viet food.
Walking into Pho Saigon on the weekend, you can instantly tell that they are popular. There are lots of groups huddled at the front waiting to be seated -- couples, groups of hungover college kids, large Asian families. The smell of the pho cooking away is very strong and fragrant. Beware -- WHEN YOU LEAVE, YOU WILL SMELL LIKE PHO.
The portion size for the small bowl is quite big enough for me, and I think it's a good deal. I've tried a variety of different pho and meat combos and they've always been fresh and flavourful. The plate of veggies is always fresh and generous unlike some other places (I'm looking at you Pho Que Huong). The broth that they use in their pho is delicious. It tastes homemade and doesn't give me the dry-mouth feeling of other pho places drowning in MSG.
The eggrolls are very crisp, though the spring rolls are average. I did not like the peanut sauce....there was something "off" about it.
The rice platters are also very good. Super large portions for a reasonable price.
During the school year, I'm here at least once, twice sometimes three times a month. Making the drive this far north is worth it for the good pho.
This is my current #1 pho place in Austin. You can smell the yummy food from the parking lot and the always-crowded scene is another plus point that you are entering a good restaurant.
I usually go there during lunch time but never have to wait for the table though it was rush hour. The menu has great selection of pho, vemicelli, porkchop rice, etc., price is standard and the portion is generous. I love eating pho there because round steak usually comes out perfectly pink and fresh and the soup is tasty.
The staff service is fast and efficient, that's perhaps the reason why they never make anyone wait for table. Oh by the way, you don't have to worry about bringing cash, this might be one of the reasons why I like this place better.
This place has great hangover food Their pho is absolutely amazing, has lots of meat, noodles and vegetables. The broth is also heavenly. The place also serves some good spring rolls as appetizers and their cha gio is also good. I have had just about everything on the menu and its all amazing
Just chomped down a bowl of beef pho and some spring rolls. Oh, and an iced coffee. All of it good! Even my kids loved it.
Pho Saigon has by far the best Pho' in Austin. I have tried up to ten different places in Austin, and at Pho Saigon the basil, sprouts, jalapenos, and limes are ALWAYS FRESH. I have been soo many places that give you one sprig of basil and old jalapenos. I have also had broth that the fat settles to the top while you are eating it. NEVER at Pho Saigon. The service is quick and to the point, not much atmosphere, but who cares when the food is this good!!!!
This is one of the better standard pho places. The broth is good, if not as delicately nuanced as Pho Van - but the customer service is very good which makes up for a lot. They are very good at making accommodations for special diets - when I was on an all liquid diet, they charged me only $2 for a big bowl of plain broth with veggies on the side. Clean and well-run, it's the place to go when you're sick and don't want the hassle of some of the more "interesting" places.
Nope. Not so hot.
Pho ga was average to below average. I clearly tasted chunks of unbroken bouillon cubes multiple times throughout the bowl. And they were "out of" basil. Out of basil?? The waiter said they'd been out of it for two days. Can they walk over to the MT and pick some up? What the hale is a bowl of pho without basil?? I don't think they're really even trying.
Plus the atmosphere is sterile and icky like a hospital/highschool cafeteria. Maybe for lunch break, but not for dinner. Again, they could try just a little harder and make things a lot nicer.
Their pho ga ranks near the bottom of all pho joints I've tried cross country. Sorry, guys.
It breaks my heart that this place is so crowded and Thanh Nhi just down the street is nearly empty!
My husband and I love this place. We can both get full for under $10. It is a very large dining area which gets pretty packed during the lunch hour. Service is super fast. The food is plentiful and good quality. There are also vegetarian options. I recommend it to anyone who likes a BIG bowl of noodles. Their spring rolls are super tasty too. You just cannot go wrong here.
This is possibly one of the best places I have ever eaten Pho. (Keep in mind my exposure to Pho has only been in Texas.)
It came recommended by a friend and I love it. We try to go at least once a week. Avoid weekends, because it can get very crowded. But service is incredibly fast and you'll be out within 45 minutes.
The bun is decent, but not great. What makes it worth to stray from Pho is the char-broiled meat. Very tasty!!!
This place is the BEST for Pho in Austin, A-#1, and here's why:
1. The white meat chicken is the best quality I've ever had in Austin (although Pho Danh is a close 2nd).
2. They don't skimp on the herbs and veggies like most Pho places do.
3. Service is excellent, very attentive, your drink is always refilled
4. Spring Rolls are awesome, plus they have variety here (chicken, shrimp, veggie, or tofu).
5. Did I mention the awesome chicken Pho? It reminds me of a place I used to go in San Jose - - which was my #1 since 2000 until Pho Saigon!
6. They have several big screen TV's around so you're not just sipping soup but enjoying the news (on the price of oil rising ofcourse).
Give them a try - you'll love it, I am a loyal customer as they have won me over!
The home page of their website says "delicious, fast, affordable". They definitely got that right.
I imagine Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City as it was renamed in 1975 to be a bustling place and maybe someday I will be able to visit. Wikipedia says that it is the largest metropolitan area in Vietnam with more than 9 million people. This restaurant is also a bustling place. A friend and I tried it out on Sunday afternoon and people were often seen waiting at the front entryway for several minutes until a table opened up.
The food was awesome. Even though most people were there for the Pho, I tried the "Steamed rice with charbroiled sliced pork" and my friend tried the "Steamed rice with charbroiled chicken". We shared the dishes a little and both were excellent as was the Thai iced tea. Maybe when it gets a little cooler outside, I will return to sample the Pho.
You can expect a casual, quick dining experience in a nice space in the Chinatown Center on Lamar. Check it out soon, because this may very well be one of the best Pho places in Austin.
This place saved my life last week.
I found out on a Friday that I had to have a root canal the next Monday (just a few days later). Of course, I didn't sleep all weekend because I kept having nightmares about sitting in the dentist chair, bright lights everywhere, the laughing gas not working.
However, it was fine! I have a great dentist! What's more, I soothed my nerves by going to Pho Saigon afterwards. Tasty broth, slurpy noodles and tender beef for $5 and change for a small bowl of pho? Yes, please.
Note that their "small" is not small. If you're trying to eat on the cheap, this bowl could easily feed two hungry people. They usually have a plethora of basil, mint, and bean sprouts so you could do it up, but they ran out of basil that day. That made me a bit sad, because I love putting practically a whole basil plant in my bowl, but it's cool. Their broth makes up for it. Their spring rolls are serviceable. They could make it great by putting a little more mint in there. I totally heap on the peanut sauce on those babies though.
It's cheap, it hits the spot, but it's not like OMG. If Yelp had half stars, I'd give it 3.5. I'm in a cheery mood today, so I'll give it 4 instead of 3.
so i've become a pho fiend in the last few months - seriously, i've slowed down but there was a time where i would have it 2 or 3 times a week. i've never had a fave place to get it, but i think i've developed a sense of now of what good pho is.
this place unfortunately isn't it. it is, however, like i think someone else mentioned, more of like the walmart of pho places austin.
one plus, is that its ridiculously fast. i put my order in and literally counted 203 seconds till when the food came out. what is that like a little over 3 minutes?
the broth is eh. to me it justs tastes like beef broth. it didn't have that same mellow medley of cloves, coriander, star anise etc that i'm used to in good pho. it was just really bland. i was loadin up on the hoisin and sriracha big time. you know when you've made cheater broth from powder and it has that weird manufactured salty preservative taste to it? that's what it tasted like.
the meat was good. i ordered it with tendon, and it could stand to be cooked a little longer so it could have the more melt in your mouth texture.
the place is clean, its also new too, so that might be part of what makes it look clean.
it just seems like things go too fast here. i feel like pho broth is something that needs time and love and attention to taste delicious.
i don't hate this place, i mean it does the trick, and when i don't have time to wait i'll go here, but its not my fave.
i'm more of a hai ky fan :)
I rate it more like a 3.5, but definitely not 4.
It's pretty typical of what you'll find at a decent Vietnamese Restaurant. Food is tasty and comes out fast. The restaurant is nice and modern, but they don't do a very good job of keeping it clean. I suppose it has to do with the high traffic. Still, maybe someone dedicated to cleaning, sweeping, etc.. would make the place look better. The servers look like a bunch of high-school kids wearing shorts hanging down by their ankles... not very professional. The dishes are a little more expensive than other Viet restaurants, but not by much.
Still, if you're looking for a quick place to grab a bite to eat, it's not a bad place to go.
We go here often at noon and the place is commonly packed. (So maybe try a little before or 12:45 or so) Once you do get a seat, the service is insanely fast. You will have someone asking you if your ready to order often times less than 2 minutes after giving you a menu. If you order the pho, you will get a hot bowl in usually less than 10 minutes or less.
This is the best Pho i've had in Texas, and rivals my favorite Pho joints back in Seattle. Honestly i've been here at least 30 or 40 times, and I havent tried anything except the Pho. Its that good.
I like this place a lot. It's always crowded but they get people in and out really fast. The soup comes out steaming hot but still fresh. The beef is of high quality along with the noodles. The spring rolls are nothing special and the eggrolls are actually bad. Their rice dishes are pretty good here too but I usually just get the Pho.
I just moved here from Los Angeles and being Vietnamese....just had to get some Pho. It was pretty good, as good as Saigon Flavor in San Gabriel, CA. I got the Pho Dac Biet and it rocked. Too bad the price was $6 for a small but I guess that is the price you got to pay when there aren't many phos around. I will definitely be back here soon
Fabulous. So glad to see them open up in the Chinatown Center. (I was getting tired of Kim Phung's propensity for careless prep'ing of their meat and vegetables. More on that in my review of Kim Phung)
The Pho is superb; broth is clean and tasty, the veggies are fresh, and the meat is tender. Their Bun is to die for; quality cuts of meat (pork loin and all white chicken. haven't had the beef, but it's probably good as well), veggies are fresh and tasty, especially the cucumber, and not too many noodles - which I like.
Service is always good. Especially when that bro from Kim Phung worked there. He was not present the last few visits. I don't think he fit in with the stylish 20-something Vietnamese owners. Hope he's OK and makes it back to work.
I did like Kim Phung's Imperial rolls better, but that won't make me go back. Especially since we've moved outa state and will only grace the more worthy establishments such as Pho Saigon on our future visits to the River City.
