I guess it's time I reviewed this place since I've been coming here so long. Almost always to go on my way home to the outer sunset. I used to call in my order until I realized it only takes them about 3 minutes to make my it after I arrive. And they usually start my order upon seeing me walk through the door! #1, No Tripe, Egg Noodles instead of rice.
Their Pho is decent especially for those that like Tendon, it's so tender and good. Overall the Pho at PPQ across the street is better. But Kevin's is open longer and is quicker and friendlier. So I save PPQ for sit down meals.
Sometimes when I want to indulge I'll get the shrimp cake, which Kevin's seems to make especially good. My Caucasian friends are not big on Vietnamese food anyway, but the shrimp cake seems to especially turn them off. I can't understand why as it's pure deliciousness. Ground shrimp in a wrapper fried up crispy, cut and served with Nouc Cham dipping sauce. Yummy!
I have tried their Bun, rice plates, spring rolls and many other items at both this location and the Daly City location and all are very good. The only items I would avoid would be the seafood based soups as they are rather bland.
I've moved out of the sunset now so Kevin's is no longer my go-to Pho place. But I will definitely be back when in the area.
Friendly enough staff and clean facilities.
Great tasting pho.
NASTY after effects...ew.
Diarrhea.
Enough said.
My rating is based on the grilled pork chops over rice.
I'm reserving 5 stars for a place that is comparable to Super Bowl that sadly closed a few years ago in Cupertino. The pork chops dish at Kevin's Noodle House is flavorful but a bit too fatty and greasy for my taste. I also wish that they gave more of the vegetables that are soaked in vinegar because it cuts through the grease and fat aftertaste left from the pork chop in your mouth.
The red bean drink is super tasty. I like that the red beans are blended into the milky drink. It's the best I've had in LA and SF.
Pho! This is a simple Vietnamese comfort food item. It is ubiquitous within the community as such, it is expected to be good.
The general rule of thumb for Vietnamese food is, whenever one enters an establishment with Pho in the name, you order Pho or it's many variations. Everything else (Vietnamese food items), you'd order in a Vietnamese Restaurant.
Pho at PPH is far from good but close to decent. The overall flavor shows that they tried.
=)
It took me 3 tries to start being able to stomach pho. My first 3 tries in Downtown Oakland didn't end up too well. But then I moved to the city and found this place and it's great!
It's a pretty big spacious place so you can go with a lot of friends. You'll be seated fast and I think just about everything on the menu is less than $10. It's super fast, super cheap and very filling.
It's pretty clean considering the many Vietnamese places I've been to and the other restaurants on the same street. They do take Visa, Mastercard, etc., which is nice especially when you go with your friends and want to worry about splitting the bill later.
The food always comes out really hot, the meat isn't a questionable blue color and they have plenty of hot sauce, hoisin sauce and it comes with your standard basil, sprouts, peppers and lime. The broth is light yet full of flavor, not too oily, meat portions are good and the veggies are fresh.
If you're looking for awesome bun (shhh..go across the street) this place does have decent bun, rice plates, etc., but the Pho here is so so so good. I never get the large because I am very satisfied after a medium. Unlike some other places, I don't go home with a huge MSG headache afterwards either.
I've been there with 1 person and also with 30 other people and we always get seated quickly and get our hot bowl of pho just as quick. The only thing is that a large group might have a hard time all finding street parking right away. But just wait on the side with hazards, something will open up quick.
I've had their drinks there too, pretty decent.
Yup Just ok.
It was freezing tonight in SF and I was thinking of kimchi jjigae but I've already had korean food 3 times this week and so my friend decided we should go to Turtle Tower but there was no parking so we head over the PHH.
Here's the thing with me and Vietnamese food. I'm usually reluctant to eat Vietnamese food other than my mom because I feel that I'm going to hurt my her feelings LOL. So when I'm placed in this predicament I usually end up ordering a rice plate because anybody can do this.
Party 2
Order: Large beef and tendon pho
Rice plate with porkchop, egg roll, 2 fried chicken wings
Rice plate was fine. Again, you really cant mess this up. I did like their egg rolls. The fried chicken was boring but their pork chop was lean, which is always a plus. Oh! The meal comes with broth.
Now to the pho. It suppose to be a large but the contents were small. The bowl is large and you get plenty of broth but where's the rest of the goodies? I'd still be hungry after this "large" bowl but my friend enjoyed it.
I'll only come back if its with friends otherwise I'd go to the pizza joint next door.
I love this place.
On a cold Monday afternoon, what am I craving? A hot bowl of PHO!
#1 special please. Soup is great, no MSG, a nice big portion.
I just ordered a #1 to go as I type this. YUMMM!
The pho was too oily and the meat was tough but overall it was just average.
Phobolous!
There's a lot of good Pho places in the city so when we had the craving while we were driving around Golden Gate Park, I checked the Yelp feature on the iPhone and this place came up on the first list.
Located on Irving, where there's plenty of other good options but since we haven't been here before, we trusted the reviews. Parking is a pain but that's expected in this part of the Sunset District.
When we arrived, we noticed that there weren't that many diners, and when we received the menu, I had a bit of a trepidation since it looked exactly the same menu as Pho Huynh Hiep 3 in Daly City (2 star rating from me). I asked the server and she replied that it was the same owner.
My thought process was OK...the floor is clean and their restroom is a lot cleaner than the DC location so let's just give it a try. Service was quick, efficient and a lot friendlier here. The Pho was excellent as you can tell they use fresh ingredients here. What makes a good Pho for me is the broth, and this broth was alive.
Yes, it satisfied our craving and we left home happy. We will definitely be back here for the Pho and the very clean restroom.
I grew up on Pho so I consider myself a connoisseur. If you want authentic Vietnamese pho, Pho Huynh Hiep is not the place to get it. The broth was awful and the seasoning did not taste right at all. The portions were big but that was about the only thing that was decent about the place. The dipping sauce for the spring rolls was not that great either. The spring rolls were ok. If you want the real deal, the closest would probably be in the Tenderloins at either Pho Hoa or Turtle Tower.
I'm kind of surprised that I haven't reviewed this place yet, but since I went back to the city recently and ate here, I've decided that they deserve a review.
In all actuality, this is your typical Vietnamese restaurant with cheap prices and huge portions. Your orders will arrive in under ten minutes, the place is decently clean, and if you're a major meat-eater, they give you hellaaaa meat in your pho. They have good nuoc mam, so your dry vermicelli noodle plates will be yummy!
I've missed my Vietnamese food quite a bit. Yay for pho places in the Sunset district!
I went here with my friends.
My 1st visit was so good and it made me to come back for the second time.
The second time wasnt as good as the first one.
I ordered the beef vermicelli and the beef was cooked into perfection and also came in a good portion.
My last visit, I ordered something curry and it wasnt good.
So, choose the correct one.
I heard theyre good at their beeffffyyy
I give the Pho Tai Bo Vien like four stars, same for the regular Pho Tai... pretty typical awesome viet food... huge servings of tasty homemade soup, etc.
Free hot tea is always nice.
The A1 fried viet egg roll appetizer was good on the inside, but not the viet egg roll wrappers I am used to enjoying; more of a spring roll type thing.
All in all, I dig it. Soup delivers beegtimes.
22C. Its my favorite.
I finally got to try their taro milkshake with tapioca ($3). I thought it was a little too sweet! Don't let the ice melt. It taste better when its cold. Eh. At least it tasted better than Quickly's taro tea. I also thought their tapioca balls were kinda hard.
2.5 stars for my boba drink. 3.5 stars for my noodles.

22C. That's what I always order.

I've been coming here for years. It's been my go-to spot for pho since I was in college years ago in the City. There is a huge menu with a good variety of Vietnamese foods and drinks. Pho, Rice plates, Spring rolls, Avacado smoothie, Cafe Sua Da, etc etc.
- You sit FAST.
- Your order FAST.
- Your food comes out FAST.
- You get the better than average service than the typical pho restaurant.
- AND they are consistent everytime!
This place has been my go-to pho place for as long as I can remember. They're always busy whenever I go (which means they are doing something right), but you get seated right away and your food is served ridiculously fast. It's a given that you can never go wrong with the Pho, but don't overlook their Beef Stew w/Rice Noodles (#32), which is delicious and not to mention really cheap at something like $5.25 for a bowl. Their Vermicelli w/BBQ Pork & Imperial Rolls are also yum.
Fast. Cheap. Delicious. Can't ask for much more than that.
Really glad I found this place on a whim when the rain started pouring and walking around Golden Gate Park was out.
This is seriously the cleanest Viet place I've been to! The restaurant is typical, but it's big, service is fast, and the pho is great! Total was less than $6 for the smaller bowl. Definitely go here if you are in the area.
Good pho and also good pho beef stew (I'm always on the lookout for the best pho beef stew). I go here weekly...sometimes more often. The prices are decent and I think this place is better than the place across the street.
Whenever I feel myself getting sick, I walk two blocks to this joint and the soup usually clears up any cold beginning to invade my body...pretty good remedy for a whole $6.
I enjoy the Pho here. The broth is flavorful, and the portion of meat is reasonable.
For a Vietnamese restaurant, this place definitely a lot cleaner than others that I have dined at. A nice plus sign for Kevin's Noodle House.
While ordering however, our server was extremely rude. My dad asked her if he could substitute his Tripe for Beef Balls instead. He's not a fan of Tripe. Now truth be told, the tripe, I'm sure is more expensive and Beef Balls. But the servers response was definitely very unnecessary. She responded to our "INSANE" request with a stern NO, plain and simple...as if it was a huge inconvenience or something. I mean she could've said "Sorry, no substitutions."
She can't use the "I don't speak English " card, I won't buy it. She was speaking perfect English to me as I was ordering my food.
While this experience is somewhat petty, it started off our meal on the wrong foot.
Overall, this place is great getting food out quickly. But our sour server really needs have an attitude check.
I love Pho simply for all the puns you can make with it. But punny biases aside, this place has some of the best Pho I've ever had.
I got the Pho with beef flank and beef brisket. The meat is standard, which is not a bad thing. When you order, just get a Pho with whatever meats you usually like, and chances are, you'll like them in your Pho. The noodles and broth are what make this place more than just another Pho place. The noodles are perfectly cooked: slightly chewy and delicious on their own. The broth, garnished with your taste for cilantro, basil, etc., is clean and flavorful. The smell of the broth alone jump-started my taste buds. The best part of the broth is how there isn't an excessive amount of oil, which makes the broth more refreshing than heavy.
I also had the Fried Spring Rolls, which tasted more like "fried" than it did "spring." The finished product tasted like any generic egg roll you might find in the market. Not the worst, but nothing to rave about either.
Despite the disappointing starter, there's no doubt in my mind that you will leave this place pholl of pho, in a good way.
GET: Pho (any)
A huge bowl of delicious soup for $6.50 is definitely worth at least 4 stars in my book! I was also tempted by the $3 smoothies/shakes but was trying not to over-order... It took me about 10 minutes to park (at 7 PM on a Thursday night) and my parking spot was still VERY sketchy but that is not their fault... I came in and ordered take-out and my food seemed to be ready moments after I ordered it. The gentleman taking my order was super nice too!
I ordered the simplest chicken pho. It came in a huge bag with one big container of broth, one container of chicken, noodles, etc, and a bag of other goodies. I ate some of the fresh sprouts from the bag on my way home!
At home, I devoured nearly the entire huge soup. I shared a few pieces of the yummy chicken with Ruggles which made him a very happy dog. The fresh basil from the "goody bag" was delish and the side sauce was addictive too. I wish I lived a bit closer so that it would make sense for me to come back more often!
What the Pho!!!
love the broth consistency of the broth is good, fast service, and cheap what else can you ask for
Pork Chop over rice, egg rolls and bbq beef over vermicelli, Pho noodle soup, spring rolls, yes pleaseeeeee!!!
I like this place a lot! It's a very typical vietnamese pho place- big on the portions, and good on the wallet. The pho always comes out piping hot and fresh, and the quality of the meat is always great. The bun vermicilli is delicious, with perfectly grilled meat and crisp veggies to top. I usually get it with beef and an order of the the egg rolls (pretty standard). You can always expect this place to be under $10 a person, or under $15 a person with appetizer.
This place is okay. It's pretty much like every other hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese restaurant and offers the expected standard selections - Pho, Bun, Rice Plates, Spring Rolls. The place is brigher and slightly nicer than PPQ across the street. Pho, I think is slightly better at PPQ, but it's cheaper here.
The time I was there, they had the doors open and the place was filled with flies. We're talking like 40-50 at least. So, it was not a good experience... I've not been back since that experience.
I came here today around 5:30pm and found mulitiple parking spots right in front. Me and my friend ordered the crunchy egg rolls and the #1. The egg rolls werent very tasty and they were VERY greasy, wasnt that good to me. The soup we ordered was delicious, they gave us plenty of beansprouts and mint leaves. It was the best meal of all. Not bad for a first time, I like to eat the crunchy egg rolls from the other pho restaurant across the street. Much tastier than this one.
I used to frequent here, but since I moved out of the neighborhood years ago, I've only came back a few times. The last time must have been longer than I thought since they have totally remodeled the whole place. New paint, tables, chairs, lights, menu and they even have their personal logos on their bowls and teacups now.

The workers are still the same. As I walked in, the waiter ran up to me and asked how I was doing and that I haven't been seen for a long, long time. Hmm...I guess it really has been a lot longer than I thought. Nice to know he still recognizes me though.
As far as I can remember, their noodles and rice plates had always been really good, (compared to across the street, * hint hint *), and that is why I used to come here often.
BF and I both ordered the #2- Dac Biet Bo Vien
Special combo with thin slices of steak, well-done brisket, flank, tendon and beef meatball.

Still excellent indeed. I love their broth, its just perfection. The beef is very tender and the portions are generous. I used to always get their Fried Fish Cakes in the past and fell in love with it, however, I didn't order it this time, and since it's been so long ago, I don't know if it's still up to par.
Everyone is so friendly there and service is lightening fast. It gets really busy there in the weekends and parking is a hassle. I won't purposely come here to eat, but of course if I'm in the neighborhood and craving for PHO, this has got to be on my top three spot!
BOBA review
why pay $4.25 for an Avocado smoothie at Wonderful when you can get one at Pho Huynh Hiep for $3?? exactly. You shouldn't... Instead, get your exotic flavored boba smoothies at Kevin's Noodle House! They are all the same price, and all of them are delicious! The boba is just as good as Wonderful. It has a nice sweet taste to it. I love their jackfruit and avocado smoothies. They also have Taro, coconut, lychee, and the list goes on... Their smoothies aren't too sweet and have a nice refreshing taste to them.
Try them the next time you go to get pho here. Not to mention, their egg rolls are DELICIOUS. way better than any Imperial roll.

Honestly this place was a lot better than i expected to be. Tonight i just dropped by and ate with a friend. And the prices are so much better than the one across the street. And this place is a lot cleaner than the other one. I am glad that i finally got to check this place out. Probably from now on im going to eat here instead of the one across. Not bad. Not bad at all.
OK now the food. I ordered pho with beef and beef balls. Since i just took my wisdom tooth out it was difficult for me to eat. But it was really good, I still had a delicious dinner. I have to say they didn't disappoint, it came in like 5 min. What more can you ask?
Spring Rolls with shrimp are awesome.
The noodle soup with thin slices of steak Not so awesome. Actually pretty much blahh. My wife had Chicken with Egg Noodles and did they just pop open some Maruchan in the back and triple the price?
We had to go eat ice cream afterwards to rid the blahness from our senses.
Kevin's is Pho King Good.
Yup that's right.
#1 please!
For Asian customer service they are good here.
Kevin please adopt me so I can eat here for free.
Came here for a late lunch after going to Lake Merced and it was a satisfying lunch experience.
We ordered the pho with beef balls, tripe, rare beef and a pork chop rice with shrimp paste and egg.
The pho noodles were good and the meat selection/combo was good. The pork chop rice was also grilled with a great flavor and the deep fried shrimp paste was good. If they offered the egg casserole as most traditional Vietnamese restaurants do with their pork chop rice I would give it an extra star as it is my favorite side dish but they only had a fried egg on this one.
We also had the Vietnamese coffee (really strong and delicious) and the watermelon slush with boba (fresh watermelon taste and the boba was soft and sweet).
Our bill came out to $23, definitely not bad but a little bit more pricey than what we normally pay for pho down in L.A.
Don't know if we would come back "pho" sure but wouldn't rule it out =)
My go-to pho joint. Good pho, good service. Very cheap as well. I recommend highly for the pho, rice plates, and vermicelli. Take out is good as well.
This restaurant has been our default place for the past 4 years! Not only because we cant think of anywhere else to eat, but it usually satisfies our cravings.
Everytime I come here, I want pho, but I always end up getting a rice place! #42 is crackin! Porkchops, shrimp cake and an egg over rice. Oh, and I love the msg soup they serve with it. Haha, the pho is good too! I love the tripe! Sometimes I get the 3 color jelly drink, which I love. The green jelly thing gets really hard sometimes (compare to other viet restaurants which the green jelly part is usually soft) and can like plastic, but.. the coconut milk with it is yummay. Will leave you satisfied for under 10 bucks!
Ah. To put it simply, I just love this place. Atmosphere here is quite refreshing. Shaved ice machine, skylights. So I just recently came here with my friends for food. I ordered the shredded pork and grilled pork chop rice, because I wasn't in a mood for pho. It came and it was delicious. The shredded pork wasn't what I expected but it sure it taste good. The lady back there always making drinks was cool. It was fun sitting there and watching her juggle between making drinks. They sure do need a second blender! Haha. Good stuff. Good stuff.
P.S. It always seems like there's a line for the bathroom.
A curse on your family (at the other place that was closed 15 mins before their posted closing sign)! May warts grow all over the feet of your proverbial walks in life.
Moving on. Were it not for the cursed place I mentioned above, Marina and I would not have found our way over here. It was around 9:15 on a Saturday night. We found parking about a block away. We had previously been shopping in Union Square. I was getting a suit (grown up clothing!) and she got this nice pair of knee lenth clam-digger type jeans. All on sale.
After attempting to go to Chez Papa Resto and realizing how incredibly small that place was, we looked around at another french place before getting in to the car. Whilst in the car, I told her about the amazing broth of pho. It was spiced, cinnamon, anise, a bit of cardamon. I sold it so well that we headed straight for the sunset.
There was a false start (and we'd found such GOOD PARKING too), we ended up here. I was famished. Hadn't eaten since noon. Not even a snack. I ordered the Imperial rolls and the fried chicken wings. The imperial rolls were nice and compact. Meaty, tight, turgid tubes of fried loveliness.
The chicken wings were HUGE. I don't know what chickens these came off of, but the wingspan was the size of my hand! Not just the palm. I'm talking about the biggest wings ever. The drumette looked like a full size leg drumstick.
And now the pho. Marina go the Pho Tai. I got the Pho Tai Gan. This time I paid more attention to the tendon. This place had nice juicy thick pieces that quivered and shook in my unsteady hands. The tendon was substantial and not chopped up in to sliced like the TL plcaes. It was something I could sink my teeth in to.
I made sure to sip the broth before adding anything. While I could still smell the anise and a bit of cinnamon, the fragrance was not as strong as at Yummy Yummy or Pho King. But it was there. A different style of broth. It's ok. Not all pho broth has to taste the same.
Let us not allow pho broth to go the way of expensive trendy wines: suiting the tastebuds of that guy who gives out points just so they get a high score. Let us embrace the individualism and characteristics of the broth. Celebrate it by having a different kind each day.

I'VE BEEN COMING HERE FOR OVER 4 YEARS. I LOVE THIS PLACE, THE NOODLES ARE THEE BEST (: I LOVE THEIR RICE PLATES TOO. I ALSO GO TO THE ONE LOCATED AT WESTLAKE, DALY CITY BECAUSE THERES FREE PARKING THERE ^.^
We always crave pho when we wake up on a Saturday with a banging headache. One of those headaches that doesn't quite count as a hangover, but definitely alcohol-induced. The cure: a nice, steaming bowl of pho.
Sit down, order a small pho tai with beef on the side and rice noodle substitution. Let the aroma of the soup flow through. Take a sip if you'd like. Let the broth warm up your tummy. You'll feel better in no time.
Just try not to wake up before they open. Because it's the longest wait of your life. Seriously.
I came back in oct 09 and the broth was murky and taste wise not very good. Either off day or they've gone downhill.
I tried the regular Pho this time and found the broth to have a very deep beefy flavor, definitely from a long simmering of bones. All the beef, tripe, and tendon were very good. I haven't tried all the Pho in SF yet, but this bowl is likely a top contender.

This is a great pho place. I didn't think so at first - then I tried PPQ across the street and I realize how much better PPH was. The restaurant is big inside, plenty of tables and chairs and people just come get their noodles and go out- so getting a table is pretty easy here. If you don't want noodle soup, they have rice plates and bun (rice noodle) bowls.
Came here last night with a friend because I had a craving for pho. I ordered a #3 - which is basically a medium combination beef noodle soup without the beef balls. The soup was very tasty and full of flavor. Nothing like a hot bowl of noodles on a cold day right? My friend order the glass noodles seafood soup - which looked really good too. The fish cake appetizers was on the salty side, and nothing special and I probably won't get this again - but this is called Kevin's noodle house, and not Kevin's appetizer house!
