"Now that is a bowl of Pho!" Is exactly what I said as I scooped every last drop of my #11 into my mouth. Great spring rolls, fresh veggies, and huge, delicious, tasty and cheap bowls of this delicious goodness!
Get their early for lunch, or you will be waiting for a table.... -
Review from Sherry W.
I like the pho that's served here. It's super flavorful and I like how they have 3 different sizing options, so that you can order according to your hunger. I ordered the standard pho dish (#1 I think) and really liked the tender brisket. I have yet to try many of their other dishes, but I will be back to do so.
Our waiter was really nice and sweet. Pay up front at the cashier. -

I eat here when I'm hungover and I feel like a brand new person after I'm done. The noodles are silky smooth and the broth light and satisfying. If only it were open til late sigh..
Oh and I don't know why yelp says it's closed on Sundays because it's definitely not. -
Review from Angela H.
I've only been to a few pho restaurants in Atlanta, but I don't think any place can top Pho Dai Loi 2. Perhaps the original Pho Dai Loi in Forest Park may be the same, if not better? Anyway, I don't think I'll be venturing further south anytime soon, so I'll stick with my fave pho place - Pho Dai Loi 2.
I always order a small #12 (Rare Steak and Fatty Brisket) pho with fresh bean sprouts and spring rolls. And when I request "no cilantro or onions" in my pho here, they don't put ANY in it (unlike PDL 3...). The soup is just heavenly. It is seasoned to perfection - not too salty, not at all bland. It's so refreshing... *sigh* I love it! And at this location, they put a good amount of noodles and a decent amount of meat in the small pho.
The spring rolls (pork and shrimp) here are always good, too! One small bowl of pho and one spring roll fill me up to satisfaction. The spring roll dipping sauce - Hoisin sauce mixed with peanut butter and sprinkled with chopped up bits of peanuts - is freakin' amazing. I usually need to ask for more to more because I use it for the meat in my pho, too. Yum.
Overall, Pho Dai Loi 2 easily deserves 5 stars - for their excellent pho, great prices, and friendly staff. I have been here many times, and they have not disappointed me yet. I'll definitely be back again, and again, AND AGAIN. =) -

Quite possibly the best bowl of Pho ever... I'd say I drove 1,200 miles to get here, but that wouldn't be true. I was just out driving 1,200 miles to clear my head. This helped .... ALOT

Review from Jackie H.
My Yelp community has taken me in the right direction once again. Dai Loi did not disappoint when it comes to some flavorful, hot Pho. My bowl was not short on meat, noodles, nor deliciousness.
I went on a Saturday and the place was pretty packed and everyone had a big bowl parked in front of them. Before we began Pho-ing, we started with the fresh spring rolls. These, folks, were delicious. The shrimp and basil were so fresh, I felt my body was getting some kind of natural boost.
The service could use some work. Though our food came out very quickly, we needed refills on the bevs sometimes and had to ask for it.
I'll be back here for Pho all this winter. I love it, love it, love. it!!!! -
Review from Blake K.
Atlanta, GA
I feel like this place nearly deserves two reviews because of how different the pho is from everything else. In fact...
THE PHO
Pho-nominal. The broth is flavorful, definitely better than your typical chicken broth mixed with water Americanized pho. It was a bit too fresh for my taste though. I got the #20 (skirt and flank beef) and the meat was pretty well cooked with plenty of fat. The noodles? Nice and thick.
They only gave us one plate of veggies for the three of us at the table though, so be sure to ask for more when you're ordering, which leads me to...
-- EVERYTHING ELSE
SERVICE
The service makes you feel like a telemarketer at dinner time. The waitress begrudgingly took my order, then delivered my food and run away like every additional moment spent near me increased her chance of getting some disease. In fact, we never saw her again, so when we realized we didn't have nearly enough veggies for our pho, we had no where to turn. And when we decided to order bubble tea we had to convince the cashier to be kind enough to let us buy more food from them.
SPRING ROLLS
Forget it. We went around 7pm or so, yet it still tasted like they had made these hours before. The skin around the roll had toughened up to the point that taking one to the face would probably leave a decent welt. Average dipping sauce, typical lack of strong basil kick. Pretty decent overall.
BUBBLE TEA
Ordered bubble tea and as I got it I was informed they ran out of boba. Awesome, because bubble tea is obviously all about the tea. But this point wasn't lost on the cashier, who beat me to the punch with a swift "No Refunds." Which is perfect, because that's the kind of policy chain restaurants have and we all know how much we hate chain restaurants.
All passive aggressive bitterness aside, the place was pretty good. I just wouldn't recommend straying too far from the pho. -
Review from Nikkie F.
I've been putting off writing this review for quite some time now, simply because I want to be selfish. What a gem! Hidden in the corner of the Little Saigon strip mall on Buford Highway near Dresden Rd sits this little unassuming spot.
From the road it looks quiet and unassuming, but once inside you find yourself in a brightly lit room... an out-of-place crystal chandelier hangs from the ceiling. You walk the tile floor to your padded metal chair, where you're seated and handed a menu. Thank goodness there are pictures. Even though the menu is printed in English letters, I don't know the difference between Pho Ga and Pho Tom!
I've had the chicken and the shrimp Pho, on multiple visits. Both are quite excellent. My husband favorite thing to get is the beef Pho, with it on the side. Then, when it's served, he can place the thin slices of meat into the broth himself to cook to the desired temperate before he eats it.
A medium bowl usually fills us up. I can't imagine getting a large!!! We usually waddle home after a bowl here. It's the perfect way to warm up during this cold winter months. I've had Pho a few other places... and this by far is one of my favorites. -

Any pho places automatically deserves at the least, a three star. Then it should kind of goes up from there. This place is cute and ok. The decor is something I will see out in Vietnam, well, minus the big, impressive chandelier in the middle. The service was nice and quick.
The pho was allright, although I wish the broth was just a tad bit beefie and the noodles to be a bit more in the piping hot area. Normally with pho, they serve all kinds of green herbs to go with your soup but they only gave us basil and a ton of jalapeno ... ofcourse there were bean sprouts as well. I was not too impressed with the spring roll however. The wrap they used were a bit too thick... or maybe the wrapped it thickly?? either way it was not good. They also added this dry slice of beef that didn't taste fresh nor complimented the spring roll. So I say, skip that. The prices like always however are Pho-worthy. For a large bowl me and the hubby split was only seven bucks total... usually when we split a large bowl we are more than satisfied but this particular bowl is a tad bit small and i had to chow down the rest of the spring roll he didnt finish.
All in all this place is a-ok. -

I've consumed countless bowls of pho here in Atlanta, and I must say Pho Dai Loi has the most authentic and tastiest preparation yet.
Their pho, whether beef-based or chicken-based soup, is clean and savory without being overloaded by MSG. Although I'm pretty against MSG flavorings and all those shenanigans, you can bear to have some for that oomph in the broth's flavor. All their soups are loaded with many greens already in it; I believe they're cilantro and green onions, with additional sliced onions in it too.
I like how Pho Dai Loi has 3 options for their pho sizes: small, medium, and large. From my experiences, the small is the perfect size for me, but always with an order of their fresh spring rolls. Mix some siracha into the peanut sauce it comes with, and you have the perfect balance or nutty-sweet and spicy :)
I'm a sucker for the light but warming chicken pho, with the white meat only (though you can get dark meat, or both). It's the ideal meal for a cold and rainy day. -
Review from Peter Y.
I'll admit it, I'm a Pho Ho. I get it anywhere and everywhere. I like it hot, spicy, meaty and full of flavor.
Not sure if my taste buds are acting up lately but pho everywhere else just seems bland to me...except for Dai Loi. They've been pretty consistent throughout the years and I can't say I've ever been disappointed.
This place is a no frills, hole in the wall but their pho is delicious. It's a sit down, order, shut up and eat kinda place. -

I was in need of some pho and decided to try somewhere new.
Upon entering, 95% of the people in there were Vietnamese. You would think that would be a good sign for a pho place. I'm not so sure about that.
The good:
I got it to to go and the container they put it in kept it super hot. I only live about 10 minutes away but other places I've tried, it's usually cold by the time I get home.
The portion of meat was ginormous (however, see the bad about this).
The rare steak was really good.
The bad:
I got the flank steak and the rare steak. They gave me a ton of the flank steak, way more than any place has ever given me. However, it was really fatty and had a little bit a weird taste, almost gamey.
They must put a TON of MSG in the broth. Holy crap. Give me some water stat!
The broth was ok, nothing to write home about.
The to go portion was about $1 more than other places I've gone.
Everyone in there had bubble tea. Maybe that's why everyone goes? -
Review from Janet B.
This place made me really reevaluate my relationship with pho. And I LOVE pho (best hung over food) and have been to many, many places. Still, I'm far from being a pho snob. I'm really not that picky. To be completely honest, 80% of them seem about the same.
Pho Dai Loi fell into the 80% in terms of food, prices, service, etc. Nothing stood out, and nothing was amiss. It fell in the BOTTOM 10% in terms of the MSG level. I thought I was going to die of thirst after a medium bowl of regular ol' pho ($6.50). Just how much MSG is in that stuff?? I felt bloated and unpleasant. I think I'm going to think twice before grabbing pho next time... since my relationship is pho is clearly unhealthy. -

Love this place! I come here about once a month & I refuse to go anywhere else. I love the bubble tea but I get it without the jello like round things.

Ok, ok. We keep switching Pho restaurants. But I think we're going to stick with Pho Dai Loi for a while. Hubby D's pho was the most flavorful we've ever tasted and the Bun was super fresh and really well done.
What else do you need to know about a Pho restaurant? :) -

Best pho place i've ever eaten at. Fast service, nice people, great pho. Spring rolls are good, shrimp rolls are amazing. Extremely fresh and once you get your bowl of pho, you can't wait to devour it.

We came down this way thinking we'd be blown away with their Pho, but we weren't.
FOOD: I had the medium well done flank Pho. The broth was ok and the noodles were not adequate. The service was ok and the prices were ok too. Not sure I'd come back again. -

Great food and value. I've never been there when its slow. They get their food out REALLY quick. People are always coming in and out. I've been here 10+ this year. You can't go wrong with their pho. Their beef stew with french bread is excellent. They've got 4 appetizers, and they're all great! Their shakes, especially their jackfruit boba drink, are tasty and unforgettable.

Review from Sara M.
Okay, I am by no means an expert on Vietnamese anything. I have been to a handful of Vietnamese restaurants, some on multiple occasions. And compared to them, this place was sub par in every way. I wanted to like it, and had high hopes based on reviews. So much disappointment.
The lady who seated us also took our orders. She said hello and seemed friendly. After she brought our food, she never came back. So I couldn't tell her that she'd forgotten my order of hot tea. She and some of the other employees spent most of our visit at a back table, chatting it up.
My SO dropped the little sauce bowl and it shattered. Loudly. No one ever came by to sweep up the shards. I had to flag down the one server who was actually serving.
The food was not great, either. I always get pho with well-done flank. The broth was more oily than I've had. They are generous with the meat, though. The opposite was true for the pork spring rolls, which were all greens and noodles, save one tiny sliver of pork. And to be honest, they smelled funky. Even my SO, who is much less discriminating with regard to what he will eat, didn't finish his. He really liked his jackfruit shake, though.
At promptly 9pm, everyone at the back table got up, ran around doing whatever they do to close up, and then sat back down (or in the case of our server and another young lady, stood behind the counter) and proceeded to glare daggers at us and the one other table still there.
As my SO had his back to them, I quietly let him know that it was past closing time and we should probably go.
Did we catch them on a bad night or something? I'm not so sure I want to give them another shot. -

There's something about really amazing pho that makes you all warm and squishy inside. This pho was just good. I can't say that there was anything wrong with it exactly. The broth had flavor*. The noodles were plentiful. The meat was a nice mixture of lean and fatty. My boyfriend ordered a beef vermicelli dish that was a solid tasty. My iced Vietnamese coffee was standard. Service was exactly what I've received every time I've ever eaten at a Vietnamese restaurant. I'd even go here again for pho. But at the end of the meal, warm and squishy I was not.
*Pho 75 in Arlington, VA has the best broth. Hands down. -

This is my favorite pho restaurant. It's a plus that I live 3 minutes away from it and that it's on Buford Hwy.
When you enter, you are greeted by a server who will bring you to your choice of table.
I've been going here for years. I love their pho. I also love their egg rolls. I've tried almost everything on their menu. Portions are pretty good for the price. If you ask anyone about a good pho place, I bet you they will mention this place. I hear that people travel from afar to try this place out from my friends.
I recommend this place to my friends and family. Worth a try and many more visits to come. -

Damned good Pho and really good Lemonade. Definitely worth the hike to Buford Hwy.. The "beef stew" is a take on Pho that I had never had before but is really really filling and hearty. The decor is interesting and the wait staff is sufficient at best. But who cares? That giant bowl of soup is delightful!

Review from Rob F.
As far as pho places go, this is the best I've been to in Atlanta. I end up here probably once a week. It's a decent price. The atmosphere isn't the nicest, but it accommodates the general look and feel that most pho places have. Unfortunately, they don't have bubble tea, but it's nearby Cafe Mozart which has great bubble teas. It also doesn't have vietnamese sandwiches, but really, if you go here, it should be for the pho; nothing else.

I like noodles and I like Pho.
There is something magical about the Pho soup broth here.
There are plenty of Pho places in ATL and this chain may have the secret recipe to good Pho.
If you've never had Pho, then just ask for a Medium #1 Pho.
What is a Medium #1 pho.. well, I am glad you asked.
I have found that there all Pho restaurants, with uncanny consistency, list the most common Pho combo as #1 on the menu. It is basic Pho, like Basic burger, it has all the requisite items.
Trust me.. just get Medium Pho#1. -

I am not a big fan of Vietnamese, but a friend suggested this place for lunch. OK, I'll go. It was actually much better this time around than the first time I went. Overall, there are not many things on the menu that I actually want to eat. So it was tough to pick something to order. I got the Vietnamese egg rolls (which were just OK) and the marinated beef with Vietnamese fried rice. The fried rice was a mistake; the next time I would order it with the white rice. The marinated beef was absolutely wonderful though. I want more! The rice to meat ratio was off. There was not enough meat for the rice that was provided. The overall portion was large, and I saved some of it for later. Great. Just needs more meat.
Service is very quick here. They must have a whole bunch of noodles and rice ready to go so that they just have to cook up the meat. A very good place to go to if you want to get in and out quickly over lunchtime. -

My first time here was pretty good. The service was really quick and the pho was good. It was cold that day so it helped a lot. We don't get to come to this area a lot anymore since all the Vietnamese shops decided to move to Jimmy Carter. But it's good to see good restaurants still thriving in the area. Will go to again when back in the ATL.

I like the pho here and the amounts served make me happy. The Avocado shakes are damn good, too. There is an array of refreshments available that had me having flashing backs of my backpacking 'Nam days. Service is friendly. It's an easy and affordable lunch.

So far, this is as close to Little Saigon/Bolsa (Westminster, CA) that I've found in the southeast... and pretty impressive/exciting based on that.
I've been there 2-3 times and never disappointed. I always get Pho Ga, since I'm not much of a beef-consumer... and the broth is pretty flavorful.
Prices are decent - not *as* cheap as Little Saigon but maybe only off by $2 at most. Now that I live closer, I'll be stopping by here regularly. :D -

Dai Loi is my go-to place for Pho. Unpretentious, large portions, authentic taste and quality ingredients, this place reminds me of the street food of Bangkok. Whether you're looking for some good Pho to cure that hangover or to fill an empty stomach, this is where you want to go.

Review from Rick F.
I must be spoiled with Chateau de Saigon's Pho soup. I was disappointed to say the least. The fresh spring roll was huge and delicious!
As with most of these types of restaurants they are filthy, dirty and very old school asian decor.
Service, What Service? not much to speak of! -
Review from Alex H.
It's good. It's authentic. The vietnamese coffee is awesome. It's nice they have bubble tea. It doesn't ring my bell.
I love the concept of pho. However, there are very few items on the menu that don't involve some version of organ meat. I just don't dig organ meat. My first experience was great. After that, more than once, I've ordered a non-organ meat dish and gotten something that I'm pretty sure I didn't order. Translation is probably part of the challenge.
Bully to you who love this place. With all the other options available, I'll find something that suits my tastes better. -

Bad service. The girl with short black hair doesn't smile and didn't check back on us. She just didn't have any expressions. Never spoke a word with us. But this other older lady was nicer with a smile in yellow shirt. Our waitress didn't even say thank you nor thankyou, good bye when we leave. She did deserved only $2 tip from me. I still think leaving her tip was too much.
There pho was decent to me. Coffee was too bland for my taste.. I came here because they got so many reviews.. & was wondering why????
I liked 'pho bac' more. Their coffee, pho(broth), plus service are 10times much better than them. like.. seriously. -
Review from Laura W.
I really enjoy coming here for pho.* I don't discriminate, either-- it can be super hot outside and I'll still crave it. As the storms rolled in last night while we were getting foot massages, pho sounded perfect. From the cafeteria setting to the speedy service, Pho Dai Loi is extremely likeable. I barely have time to glance at the huge chandelier in the middle of the dining room before our steamed spring rolls and my large pho ga (chicken noodle soup) arrives. The spring rolls are amazing... just order them and you'll understand. The pho is so flavorful and I swear that it tastes even better on the second day. Speaking of which, is it lunch time yet?

My favorite pho place in Atlanta! I try to go there everytime I'm in Atlanta. The beef stew is relatively unique (as far as I know) and very good. The broth is very flavorful and delicious.
The food is consistently great and cheap. -
Review from Allene T.
This is by far my favorite pho restaurant in Metro Atlanta and I've eaten at pretty much all of them, and have lived here my whole life.
First off, the prices are great (~2.50 for appetizers, ~$5.50 for pho) The goi cuon is fresh and the skin is soft, unlike some of the other pho places on Buford Hwy. The soup always comes out piping hot and has just the right amount of spice in it. I always get the pho with just the eye round steak, tripe, and tendon, and it's delicious! The bun bo hue is also very flavorful and yummy. Sure they don't serve banh mi like they do at Pho Bac down the street, but I would sacrifice that for much better tasting pho. -

Consistently Great!
I have been here many times....
The broth is always delicious. The Pho comes out piping hot and delicious in my Medium bowl.. I have tried the shrimp, chicken, and eye round steak. Each of these are equally awesome.
When it gets colder, I will be hitting this place at least once a week...It is that good. Who am I kidding...It will be much more often.
The spring rolls are the best I have had in Atlanta.
Service is great and the prices are good......Enjoy! -

I would give this a 5 star as I have never not had good service and great soup, good broth, pretty quality meat and all that belongs in the bowl. They even have smoked chili sauce, fish sauce and Ngo Gai (Culantro) that accompanies every bowl. They even have S,M and L bowls. Everything is good even borderline great!
So why the 4 stars I mean why would someone be so picky you ask? Well let me enlighten you. There is a pigeon nest directly above this strip mall based restaurant. this next has been there rain or shine for 2 years now. This nest is loud, flaps around in the roof and they even have left a tile open so the birds can come and go as they please. WTF is going here PDL? Seriously? Really? A friggin pigeon coupe!!!! I mean how do I even order the Pho Ga without thinking about a GD pigeon. I know that sounds horrible but it's been two Pho-king years! OK, I'm done.
All being said it's my number 2 in the ATL! Just get the Pho Tai or any other number of delectable non-poultry inspired dishes.
Oh...Fabulous Take Out! They wrap it so it won't spill and keep everything fresh! Spot On!!!Listed in: Pho-king Delicious

Ate at Pho Dai Loi for lunch...
The fresh Spring Rolls (Goi Cuon) were good, albeit the rice paper wrapper was a bit thick. Overall a 4 star rating for the rolls. In comparison I would rate Lee's Bakery's & Quoc Huong's versions as 5-star spring rolls.
Shrimp Roll - An interesting dish, one I don't find very often at other Vietnamese restaurants. In essence a fried shrimp roll served with a sweet and sour dipping sauce... These were also very good, and probably would have been a 5 star item had they not been served lukewarm.
Rice noodles with pork and pork skin (Bun Nem Nuong, as I recall it's nomenclature on the menu) was very good as well. This is a combination of various pork cuts over vermicelli rice noodles, with lettuce, ground peanuts, julienne carrots, cucumber and cilantro, served with the traditional Vietnamese fish-sauce based sauce known as "nuoc cham". All very fresh, well prepared and tasty (4 stars for this dish).
Atmosphere: typical Vietnamese-style restaurant, nondescript tables and dining room.... filled with almost exclusively a Vietnamese clientele, with spoken Vietnamese from the staff and customers filling the dining room
Service: attentive.... fine for this type of place, no complaints here
Overall, I would say this is a solid 4 star Vietnamese joint on Buford Highway... But, I was a bit taken back by what happened as I left Pho Dai Loi walking back to my car...
As I exited the front door of Pho Dai Loi, barely one foot into the parking lot, a FLOCK of pigeons (about 50!) took off from the roof above me, swarming and circling... it was like a scene out of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds... it was a bit unnerving!! ... Perhaps this was Vietnam's revenge for the carpet bombing campaign known as "Operation Rolling Thunder" which the US Air Force mounted against the North Vietnamese some decades ago... And I can tell you that if those pigeons were so inclined, I would have been bombed with pigeon dung - there would have been no escape!!! Karma's a bitch, I suppose....
On a more serious note.... What the hell are that many pigeons doing roosting on top of Pho Dai Loi? Does this indicate that Pho Dai Loi is unsanitary? - ie: not disposing of food products, trash appropriately? ... or are they farming pigeons? Hehe, that wasn't chicken you just had, brother.... that was SQUAB!!! Oh no!! Who knows, but it raises a lot of questions.....
So, overall, 4 stars for the food/atmosphere/service, but docking a star overall for the pigeon factor....
Note to Pho Dai Loi: You need an exterminator (no, not the chef, god damnit!!)... Or wait, maybe this COULD BE a "business opportunity"... Send chef out there with a shotgun... and then you could feature "locally sourced Georgia squab" on the menu.... It would certainly help in the food-cost department.... Hmmmm....
