8 reviews for Pho Binh
Yes, the decor could be upgraded. Yes, the restaurant could use a maid or two to spruce up the place and Yes, you should see past these ancillary items, since this restaurant offers really good Pho.
The noodle soups here are simply, really good. The broth is so much better than Pho Hoa down the street as Pho Binh's actually have a very nice flavor to it. Add the fresh Thai basil, bean sprouts, onions, cilantro and lime and the soups delicious flavors come to life. Like it spicy? Add a slice of fresh jalapeno pepper.
My favorite is the #12, which is Pho with brisket and meatballs. Really good. Make sure to dip the meatballs in a mixture of Hoisin and Sarachi sauce and you are good to go. For under $7 you get a large bowl. For a $1 more make it a XL.
If you get here and can't look past the decor.....do yourself a favor and order take out so you don't miss out!
I am surprised at four of the reviews for this restaurant. I can't imagine how anyone would think this place has top quality food or that the food is flavorful.
The service is friendly, but it doesn't even come close to making up for the filth of the place nor the greasiness of the food (and furniture). Too gross to even have a sense of humor about it.
Pho Hoa down the street has the same menu, serves fresh vegetables (including the unforgetable jalapeños), in an atmosphere that is far from elegant, but definitely clean.
I decided to try Pho Binh based on the other reviews - it had a solid 4 stars. I went with my partner and a couple of friends.
Two of us had the pork spring rolls. The flavor was pretty good, but there was some sort of odd grittiness to it. We couldn't figure out what it was. The other two of us ordered imperial rolls. They arrived in a fog of noxious stench. We went ahead and tasted them...ewwwww.....fried in rancid oil. A couple of bites were all we could muster....we set them aside. The plate of bean sprouts, jalapenos and cilantro was brought out. The cilantro was wilted with black spots all over it. We asked for fresh cilantro...what came out was not much better.
Two ordered pho, and two ordered noodle dishes. The ones having the pho reported that it was mediocre at best. After the nasty imperial rolls, I just didn't have the stomach to try the pho. At least the noodle dishes were not bad...they just did not have any flavor at all. Mine came with imperial rolls on top, which I promptly removed so as to not contaminate the rest of the dish. But in the end, I couldn't finish my dish...which any of my friends will tell you, I always finish my meal.
I can't wait for Pho Binh to become a distant memory.
Being the self-proclaimed pho eating veteran that I so lovingly call myself, I've taken it upon myself to try every Vietnamese restaurant within 100 miles - which brings the total to about seven.
Believe me when I say this place has the WORST pho I have ever tasted - ever, anywhere, anytime. By all appearances, this place looks like a diamond in the rough. The decor is actually modern to an extent and frequented by local young Vietnamese giving the impression that they must know what they're doing - right? Wrong.
All of the food was oily beyond comprehension and excessively sweet. I don't know how to explain it; I've never had ordinary beef pho that was sweet. Eew!
Please take an extra two minutes to drive farther north to Pho Hoa if you want something decent for human consumption.
My Singaporean wife gets the occasional craving for beef noddle soup (pho bo).
This place is so far the best we've found here in Broward. Top quality food at very reasonable prices.
The place makes me feel like I'm back in Asia. Small simple tables in an undecorated space, even complete with the TV running some Asian soap opera. The focus is definitely on the food and that's just how a place like this should be.
I lived in SF for a long time...the pho there was unreal. I found this place on Yelp and i went there to get some pho. Definitely the best pho in SoFlorida. There are other places, but the other pho is chain, and it was in SF too. This place was totally authentic. Gave you the Thai basil, bean sprouts, and you can't forget jalapenos and siracha! Lots of choices on the menu!

Most of the menu is snagged from the menu at Pho Hoa; in fact, the front of the house is run by the owner plus one waiter that used to work at Pho Hoa. However, there are additions of duck on the menu, to include a duck and bamboo shoot noodle soup.
The place only seats 45, but the atmosphere is truly Vinatown (Houston) authentic. It reminds me of a mix of that and going to one of my Vietnamese relatives' homes in Houston: there's a TV on with a football game on -- any game, it doesn't matter -- there are old timers in the kitchen who come out to watch on breaks and eat their own pho (good sign). There are old Vietnamese men chatting and smoking away in the small chairs placed out front on the sidewalk on weekdays during lunch.
Lunchtime on weekdays is packed. The clientele is a mix of Vietnamese and tons of Caucasians who work in the area. On weekends, it is much more relaxed and Asian only.
The owner is eager to please and is always running around, working his tail off. You can tell he wants you to enjoy the food so that you tell your friends and come back with them. The soup broth is lighter, less salty/savory, and more homemade tasting than Pho Hoa. Pho Binh also has no MSG after-effects (that is, the sleep inducing ones), so I am guessing that they use little to none of it.
Pho Binh reminds me of Pho 79 in Washington DC. That is where I first tried the noodle soup in an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. It's been 15 years since I first tried it and have been hooked ever since. Pho Binh has been the only one in South Florida that I liked.
I started with the summer rolls ($3.25 as of today). They were tender and tasty, the peanut sauce was really just okay. I then tried the steak rice noodle soup ($6.95). It was very flavorful and I enjoyed every bit. The bowl it is served in is giant and they offer a larger bowl for a dollar more... Holy schnikees! I'm trying that one when I'm really hungry. All in all the food was great the price was right and the owner and staff were terrific.
I went back the next day to try the vermicelli ($7.95). I ordered the grilled pork with shrimp. Again the portions were very generous. It was pretty good. The noodles were tender and they put a lot of grilled pork in it. Worth every penny.
