Given that Vietnamese cuisine is very limited in Folsom, I'm glad I found this place. Today it turned rainy and cold, I brought a limited wardrobe, I was was cold & wet. What better to have than a bowl of pho?

I ordered pho tai with the meat on the side. It came as is right with basil, lime, jalapeno, and bean sprouts. I also added some cilantro which had come with the cha gio and sriracha. It was very good. The meat was fresh and tasty and enough for me. The broth turned out really good and the noodles were not gummy.

I also had the imperial rolls which were not as good as some others I've had. The wrappers were a little tough.

Service was very sweet. Unfortunately they don't have a beer license yet.

The menu is extensive and I can't wait till my sweetie visits, so we can order family style and try some of the regular dishes.

Food is eh.  Being Asian, I have had better.
    But why the 5 star?

Possibly one of the best customer service.
My husband picked up the to-go order that I had called in advance, and came home with half the order?????

My phone was in the other room, and I didn't realize somebody has been ringing my phone off the hook, and left me several voicemail.

I checked my voicemail, I had realized that owner of the restraunt had called me numerous times to ask to come back for the other forgotten order, but oops?

I had called her back and spoke to her.  She said to either come back and pick it up (it was now 9:30, and they had been closed already) or pick up a new order tomorrow.

Since I was hungry now, I had asked if there is any possible way they can deliver? (Which I know they don't do).  She had made an exception and told me she will send an employee my way and took my address down.  30 minutes later, food was delivered, and I couldn't be happier.

    WONDERFUL customer service!!!
You guys should seriously consider delivery though!!!

I've dined in and out of this restaurant many times. The customer service is hit or miss, the pho is always good, and the shakes/Thai tea are yummy. One complaint: the boba/pearls/tapioca balls are always soggy or under cooked. : /

    Order for one:
#28 Vegetable Egg Noodle Pho $6.75
#27 Three Colors Sweet Drink $2.75
    Total $10.50

Felt like have some pho on a cold day (#8 pho w/ flank and rare steak) to warm me up.  This place is very clean, pleasant staff, and has plenty of parking.  Being a vietnamese restaurant in Folsom I was skeptical on how it would taste. Surprisingly, at the astonishment of my taste buds this place is possibly the best Hoa Viet I have been to in Sacramento.  Bold statement but very true, taste buds don't lie.  Also got the pepper salted spare ribs #87 which was seasoned to perfection, not too salty and the jalapenos add a touch of heat.  Great , presentation, fresh tasting, and above all the food was great. Pair this with the young coconut drink that has coconut shavings and you officially entered cloud 9  #SWAG. I highly recommend this spot to fellow yelpers looking for great Vietnamese cuisine.

We found this great Pho restaurant after our workout at the nearby 24hr fitness. Since we live out of this area, we were cautious of going to an unknown Pho restaurant. Turns out this was better then our usual! It smelled clean and was very comfortable inside. The food was very clean and very good! The service was also exceptional.
We will definitely return on our next visit to the area.

I think all Pho Bac Hoa Viet places put way way too much noodle in their pho's. It's pho for goodness sake, you need a good balance of noodle and broth, if the noodle is over powering the broth then you can't enjoy the pho! Sometimes, I have to just take some noodles out just to be able to mix my bowl around. It's average for a pho place, I will always return because its one of the most convenient pho places. It's like a McDonald, its almost in every city.

Considering it is the only Viet place in Folsom it is good.  Always busy at the lunch hour.  Their pho is good, not the best but good.  The Viet pancake is good, not the best either... but since I can go on my lunch hour I have to say they are OK.  I don't think I have tried the charred pork OR my beloved eggrolls... so I will update when I do.  Price for Large pho is $7.00.  Go at the 1:00 hour cause noontime is packed.

This is one of our regular restaurants now.  Excellent if you need a hot bowl of soup!  The pho comes with all the trimmings, bean sprouts, basil, jalapeno's - It is wonderful and fills you up!  The egg rolls are also a great appetizer...I always want to try a different dish when we go, but I always end up having the pho soup, the broth is sooo good.

After being disappointed a few times, I decided to give this place another shot. There's no other place to get pho in Folsom, so what choice did I have?

I ordered a large #9, and some pork and shrimp spring rolls, plus an iced Vietnamese coffee. I wanted a beer, but I was informed that after a recent change in management, there would be no more beer!!!  On the plus side, the water no longer tastes like partially-treated waste water.

Oh well, getting my food was a bit on the slow side - I attribute this to new staff. Once I did get my spring rolls, I found them to be delicious, and much meatier than before. The pho was decent, with a good broth and plenty of beef. No complaints! The coffee arrived late, and already mixed in a glass of ice. This is weird, especially since the table next to hours got their coffee in the conventional manner: filter dripping into a glass with condensed milk, next to a glass of ice. Weird. It did taste good, however.

I hope that the change of management indicates that there will be more improvement. I plan to give it another try soon!

Went here to order take-out as a walk in. The wait was at least 30-45 minutes and there were only 2 other small families dining in. That wait seemed ridiculous to me since I've been to other Asian places that had food be ready when I walked in to order (not called in) and it was ready in less time with more customers dining in.

Food was so-so. I've had better experiences at the Pho in Sacramento off Bradshaw I believe.

Service was below what I'm used to. People weren't too friendly or cheerful. I'll skip this place next time and venture out to Roseville to search for Vietnamese food since I don't know any other places around here.

Went here for lunch; not bad.

Waiter service has improved, they are much more likable and were able to answer my questions about a few dishes.

I had the thai chicken salad which was pretty tasty, the sauce always makes it for me :)

I tried something new a tri-color drink. The waitress said it was good so I took her word for it. Its okay/good, I think its a drink that grows on you. It had coconut and red boba pearls, green jellies, and coconut milk; very interesting.

I have been going here since it became Pho Bac and up until about 6 months ago have been quite satisfied. I usually order the chicken pho and the last two times I have ordered it the chicken has been very low grade. I can't stomach it. The last time I went the broth was so salty I couldn't finish the dish. Too bad because Folsom deserves a really good Vietnamese restaurant. I understand it's Hardtimes U.S.A. and a lot of restaurants are cutting corners but it's terrible to be disappointed eating out. I won't be back.

I also have a feeling they are understaffed sometimes. The guys that work the floor really hustle and it seems they either have no method to working the floor or need one more body. Hope they figure it out.

    Update 3/23/11:
I just received an email from Pho Bac in response to my review. it was really nice stating they are ever-improving and appreciate both positive and negative feedback. I thought that was nice, they even offered me a coupon to use upon my return.

Bad Service.- Server did not refill water, took order and it was wrong, charged us for items not given.

Food- Pho was good but not as requested. Rice plate was not good, shrimp was over cooked, Pork was not bite size more like strung together and egg roll was burned. Spring rolls were okay but very loose they fell apart.

The funny part was that there was only about 3 other people eating so to get this kind of service while business was slow is disappointing.

This location makes the other Pho Bac Hoa Viets look good. Granted it's a little cleaner than most of the chain but it's food is the worst I've tasted so far... and I don't mean from a Pho Bac or even a Pho place in general but out of all FOOD I've tasted. Their food is bad, their fried rice and chow fun is criminal. Their Pho portions are even smaller than the other locations and the employees seem pissed off even though they're in Folsom.

I've tried the Pho, shrimp fried rice and shrimp chow fun here....

    Pho was whatever.
The fried rice wasn't even hot. It was clearly not fried all the way as it was mostly lumpy. One shrimp was COLD. The portions were less than half of what I usually get at the Bradshaw location.
The chow fun... was also lumpy, cold and sad. It was again less than half the size of the Bradshaw location. Seriously.... cold shrimp??? I didn't order cocktail shrimp, I ordered a hot dish.

Never visiting again as it fails in every aspect as a restaurant.

Got there  at 1230pm for lunch had to wait for 20 minutes to be seated. During this whole time there weren't one acknowledgement from the staff of our presence. Finally after 20 minutes decided to seat ourselves. And after 2 minutes of sitting at our table we had to get our own menu. Then another 5 min past and still no sign of the waitress. Then just as we were about to stand up and leave, hallelujah, we were finally some what greeted by the waitress and our order was taken.  The food was worth the long wait and bad service. I'll definitely come back for the food but I'll make sure it's not rush hour.  Or maybe I'll just order a take out.

First time going here they didn't have any eggplant dishes which was kind of disappointing.  They do use MSG in their soup broths and marinades for meats, which I do not like.  The pho is pretty authentic with all the dressings, but again there's MSG.

Don't come here expecting your server to be warm and friendly.  They do what needs to be done to get your food out to you, then that's it...unless you're able to flag them down again to get a refill.

I've ordered take out as well.  I normally get either grilled pork or the wonton egg noodle soup.  On the menu this particular soup comes in one size but I've gotten two different sized containers of broth.  I felt gypped the second time I ordered it and got less soup.  Lame.  As for the pork, I love grilled pork.  The quality has been pretty consistent, sometimes a little too fatty for my liking, but the portion is just right for the price.

The interior of this location is more contemporary than the old ripped booths at the Broadway location.

I wish the EDH and Folsom area had more legitimate Asian restaurants.  If this PBHV was located anywhere else it would get 2 stars.  But 3 stars for being the only Vietnamese food in the area.  (If it's not, can someone please share?)

Okay maybe this restaurant is not my favorite but I keep coming back to it again and again.

First of all, on a cold rainy day, pho is awesome.  So I will eat pho here with tendon only (I know I am weird!).

I've tried some other dishes here, duck noodle, beef noodle, cat fish claypot... etc.  What I've notice is that they overseason the food with too much salt so I would pretty much avoid those dishes.  The duck noodle has too much bones and not enough duck in my opinion.

So what can we eat here?  #53, A9 are some favorites.  Beef chow fun.
#53 is grilled beef/chicken/shrimp with vermicelli noodles, a really good sauce, and some veggies.  Definitely a top seller I thiink.

I recently discovered A9 which is a very fun appetizer. Basically you make your own rice fresh rolls with veggies, chicken or beef, and some other goodies.

The food is cheap and fast so even though it's not getting 4 or 5 stars from me, it remains one of my regular lunch spots.

Oh, I've got more East Bidwell mediocrity here. Mind you, I LOVE, and I mean LOVE good Viet food. With that in mind, I am comparing this PHO to other PHO'S and Noodle House on Madison. The place was literally empty, but it was only 5:00pm on a Tuesday, and realized that most of the local's in their Escalade's were probably cutting each other off to frantically get Junior to soccer practice. That said, the Fried Calamari appetizer is 4.5 stars! Crisp, and not chewy with a great batter and an interesting sweet and somewhat spicy dipping sauce. Could this be it? My Folsom breakthrough (minus Dominick's Italian)? UH, NOT! Here comes my Barbecued Lemongrass Pork and Shrimp Entree with Spring Rolls. These Spring Rolls tasted like they has been in the freezer since the Spring. Now, Folsom must have an allergic reaction to Shrimp (Prawns, whatever), because the Shrimp again, were almost absent. They were small (I lost one, tragically, on the floor) and flavorless. Do you know that Shrimp, at least the size I've seen, are a HUGE mark-up for restaurants? I don't understand why I'm getting and paying for 51-60 when, for the price, they should be flavorful 21-30 or 31-40. That's SPP. Mind you, the Lemongrass Pork was good, but still under a decent portion size...still looking Folsom, still looking. Oh, and that poor Shrimp that fell on the floor.....my best to you and your family.

Pho Bac on east bidwell bOOooo shame on you for taking forever to get me my food. The last few times I came in here the service was horrible and the food was laced with too much MSG. I never drank so much water without running in my life. HA!

In addition the waiter was sloppy and lazy no customer service. I mean I know Chinese people don't have feelings but common man you couldn't faked it, I did.

I will no longer frequent this Pho Bac location as this is not indicative of the service and quality of the other locations.

I liked the food but didn't like the fact that it was a slow afternoon and a number of tables had dirty dishes on them. I watched 3 employees stand around and chit chat while other customers sat in a filthy restaurant as I stood waiting for my Togo order. Wow, some bad reviews and I guess I can understand why. I ordered the chicken pho and it was stinking bad. So bad, that I couldn't eat a complete bite and asked them to take it back. I never do that.

The chicken is about the lowest grade, darkest, most gristly and gamiest stuff I've laid eyes, nose and lips (just barely) on. Just avoid all things chicken here.

Saying this the service and decor are better here than at their sister restaurant on Broadway, owned by members of the same family.

I got to swap out the chicken for the beef ball pho. It was better but not excellent. I'm thinking I need to try some more pho places before I start believing that pho might be better off with no meat ... or in my own kitchen.

It is the ONLY place that has Pho in Folsom, and it shows.  The other places that come up in a search have soup.  I have eaten there 5 or 6 times, and it has always been decent (not good, but not bad).  Today was terrible.  The basil. sprouts and lettuce were frozen, the spring rolls bland and the peanut sauce watery.

I always get the large bowl with rare flank, tendon and tripe.  Today the tripe was non-existant, the tendon in little cubes, and the flank was old and nasty.  Even the jalapenos were weak.  I left one of the spring rolls and half of the soup sitting on the table.  It too aweful to finish it.

I'm rating it 2 stars as I will probably be silly enough to go back and see if they changed cooks.

The food is always great when you go to any Pho Viet restaurant, but the service at this location is horrible. The waiters/waitresses never come to your table unless your going to place an order or close your tab, getting refills on water, extra beverages and asking for more condiments in nearly impossible. Seems as if they hate working there. I would prefer driving to the Bradshaw/Downtown Pho Viet locations instead.

I am a V-egg roll whore, so it says alot when I won't even finish my order.  Got the vermicelli noodles with shrimp, grilled pork, and 2 egg rolls.  The shrimp was the cheap small frozen kind, not even tiger shrimp.  The grilled pork was grisly, something I haven't come across a pho place before.  So that left the best for last, so I thought.. I could not believe the taste of the egg rolls, I finished one always wondering after each bite, can egg rolls be this off?!  I left the second one alone.

The noodles, veggies and peanuts were good and tasted fresh.  Those were the redeeming qualities, but who orders basically noodles w/out any toppings?  I'd try again only to order something radically different to give them a 2nd chance.

Well, I wasn't expecting much, and I didn't get much. I HAD to give it shot though, after all, it appears this place is a chain all up in the Sacramento area.... unfortunately for the people in the area.

We had Pho Tai Nam and Pho Ga (#9 and #14 I believe). Smalls. Was odd the server was trying to pimp the bigger sizes, but we were adamant about the smalls (thank goodness!)

The noodles were extremely tough. I am all for the al dente noodles, but this was too much. Letting the noodles soak for a bit didn't help it much.

The broth was bland with a too strong flavor of star-anise. The beef wasn't too bad but the chicken was horrible. Riddled with gristle pieces of non-edible chicken parts.  (not talking about innards....).

Oh well, glad I know not to hit up Pho places in the Sacramento area!

My Mom always used to say "Never eat anything bigger than your head!". She obviously never ate Pho or BBQ pork over vermicelli with the fish sauce. I could eat my body weight of that stuff.

Here's the downside of this restaurant: the bowl of vermicelli is half filled with chopped iceberg lettuce - the kind you find at the salad bar in Pizza Hut. I can't imagine they're saving a ton of money cutting the noodles with lettuce. Kind of a let down. There are also no bean sprouts - something I expect in abundance at a place like this.

Here's the upside: the lemonade is outstanding. Really, I never thought I would ever wax on lemonade but wow, that's some mighty fine lemonade.

The food - what's not lettuce - is very good. I ate a ton of Vietnamese while living in LA and San Francisco (again, the body weight thing). While this place might pale in comparison to some Pho spots in the metropolises, it's very good in terms of a Folsom Pho fix.

Pho broth is no good and full of MSG. The green chili peppers (in vinegar) on the table had mold... yes mold! I will not return.

I brought my family and mother to have soup. The waiter was very rude!! not only did he almost throw my mom's soup on the table, but never apologized for doing such a thing. To make matters worst, we said thank you when he brought our drinks (by the way, we were almost done with our food), no welcome from him.
If he owns the place, shame on him!! He has no right to own a business if he is going to treat customers that way.

We are in the United States after all. Here good "Customer Service" is required! Otherwise go home!!

Not a place to bring your friend who's never eaten Vietnamese food before. Service is slow and the food was average. I guess there aren't too many options out there for Pho in Folsom, but I'm thinking this isn't the joint.

Barely passable.   Got a #1.   Soup was alright but had a lot of msg.  For what I paid, it wasn't worth it at all.   Much better choices along Bidwell.
