I have been back to Phil's a number of times since my original review.
I have updated my star rating to 5 stars. This is some of the best thin crust pizza in Chicago. I have tried other food and it has never disapointed me, everything was great.
I commented on the noise level in my original review. It doesn't seem as noisy. They must have changed something.
I will be returning here on a regular basis.

Phil's has just moved from their NW Highway(carry-out/deliver y only) to a restaurant location on N… Read more »
This place is pretty good. The prices were fair and the pizza was pretty good. Nice to get free garlic bread. Service was a little slow and the soft drinks were a little pricy, but all in all, a nice neighborhood place. Nice for families.
I'll go back.
Pizza is fab but hte RIBS are even better. They deliver, the people are always nice and helpful. Everything is always fresh on the pizzas and in all the time I have ordered I have never had a problem or complaint- how is that for consistency! they have delivery too
Best pizza in the neighborhood. They have an amazing delivery man that is very comical if your getting delivery. They have free garlic bread when eating in. Its a win-win situation. Price's seem a little high on some stuff, other than that it is worth the money. Only tried their pizza, and a few of their appetizers. Never had a complaint, or problem with the food. Whenever I take someone who hasn't experienced Phil's Pizza yet they always are very impressed. Good stuff.

This is really a good family restaurant on the northwest side.WE HAVE DINNED THEIR MANY TIMES USUALLY HAVING PIZZA,SALAD,OR CHICKEN SANDWICHES AND PASTA. ALWAYS TOP QUALITY FOOD THAT WE RAVE ABOUT TO OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. the free garlic bread is a real plus. this place is family owned and operated and one of the friendly places to dine in the city.We also had my retirement party there and every detail was outstanding. The prices are very good for groups too...I give it [ 5-STARS]
I first started ordering from them when they were on NW Highway every time I went to my friends house and they are just as good on Milwaukee ave. We always order the sausage and garlic. They are a bit pricey. 25 dollars for a 12 inch 2 topping pizza and an Italian beef deluxe. The last delivery was a little slow being that they are only about a mile or less from my friend's house now. I think it took about an hour but the food was still fairly hot. Not piping hot but still hot enough to eat.
Phil's has AMAZING food. The pizzas are great, as are the pastas, burgers, and appetizers. I've converted many people to ordering their pizzas from Phil's.
I've never eaten in the new location, but the deliveries are always on time (or early) based on what they tell you the wait will be when you order, and the food is always hot and fresh. The staff is very nice and also very accommodating. I highly recommend this place.
Good pizza for the north side. It's probably the best in the Norwood/Jefferson Park area.
I've been eating phil's since I was a kid and it's still my favorite thin crust pizza. Price is fair, pizza is always delicious. Shame they are closed on Mondays though.
We took my dad here for father's day and I was quite impressed with everything this place had to offer. The interior is very clean and welcoming, with a very spacious dining area. I really liked the look of the place, it just reminds we what a pizza joint should look like.
The service was as good as it gets. A water glass was never empty and a request was never forgotten. It did seem like the owners whole family was working there, but hey that works for me. They gave us two free orders of crazy bread and were so accommodating to our rather large table.
We started off with an order of calamari and bruschetta. The calamari was your basic plate of fried goodness. The dish wasn't undercooked which can happen at a lot of places and they gave us plenty of cocktail sauce and lemon. The bruschetta is another story. It was out of this world good. We had to place another order because the young ones snatched the pieces up as fast as they could. I thought there might be a brawl between grandma and Anna over the last piece, but thankfully they agreed to split it. I had my money on grandma; she's got a wicked uppercut.
The thin crust pizza was just awesome. The sauce, the crispiness of the crust and the amount of toppings were perfect. We ordered the D'oro special (onion, green peppers, black olives, and mushrooms) and another pizza with sliced roast beef. Two extra large pizzas were more than enough to feed 9 people and we all left full with huge smiles on our face. My dad was even impressed which is hard to do. You pretty much have to hit him with a hammer to get him to compliment you. On a side note they had some of the best homemade hot giardiniera this tongue has ever been burned by. I was sweating a little as I was eating.
I will recommend this place to anyone that will listen to me and will be back again hopefully sometime soon.
I was wondering where this place went, thank you for making this review!!! I used to go to this place when it was on Northwest hwy, They have the best thin crust pizza I have ever had! The crust is delicious and the sauce was very tasty.. They have a garlic pizza that is to die for !!! and their other dishes were fantastic! its been so long since I've had their food, but now that its closer to where I live, I will be checking out the new facility this weekend.. I will be back and give an updated review on the new place.. if you want great thin crust pizza with awesome flavor, check it out!!!
Ok I have an update... I finally made it over there with my kids on 5/30/08. the place was ok, service was kinda shitty and the pizza was not what I remembered... it was probably just me cause I have been sick and not able to taste everything 100% The kids loved the pizza and the crazy bread they served before the pizza came... oh and the place was too warm, I was very uncomfortable.
For a good 20 yrs I was a regular at Phils, on Northwest Hwy. For 10 yrs I lived a block away. I felt lucky. This was the crown prince of thin crust, extremely consistent and excellent quality-just right thickness, spice, everything. Franks Garden special and the meat lovers, both my favorites. Then I moved out to the NW burbs. I just learned Phils moved, opened a new restaurant. So we made the trek down to dine in. Place is comfortable, and our service was great (though the place was empty due to a big snowstorm - but we have 4 wheel drive so no problem making the 15 mile drive). Anyways, my wife (who used to come see me in the old neighborhood when we were dating and had Phils lots of times) concurred with my conclusion that SOMETHING is different. Can't quite place it. Is it the sauce? Spices? Cheese? Crust seems same, cheese too I suppose. I think the sauce is different. More bitter. And the pizza is spiced differently. Stronger. More powerfully. Regretfully, doesn't seem to be for the better. Funny someone mentioned garlic, I LOVED their garlic pizza and we ordered garlic but it wasn't quite as remarkable a taste sensation. If what we had is their current product, and not some anomoly, then I fear they broke the old recipe somehow. I wonder if the same guys are all still together on the new place. I only recognized one guy. Probably not going to make the drive again any time soon. It gets 3 stars, maybe 3 1/2. it was just a smidge above your average pie.
