Great venue! There isn't a bad seat in the house, whether you're cheap and buy a seat in the upper deck or rich and have seat up on the floor. It's clean, it's bright, it's fun, and it's home to various concerts as well as the Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Thrashers. I've not had any beers here, but the food isn't too expensive for what it is, plus you have a Taco Mac attached if you're looking for a full meal at a normal price.

Parking is a big problem unless you paid top dollar for your tickets. There is some $5 parking nearby, but ask about closing times. Some garages will close BEFORE the game ends, leaving your car inside overnight and you scrambling for a ride. It's happened before! Your best bet is to suck up the $4 round trip to ride MARTA. It's easy and not too packed, and if you're really worried about crowding after a game, you can walk a block to the Peachtree Center station instead and catch a north/south train. Easy!

SUPER CLEAN!  And coming from NYC, beers were cheap!

The theater also has a really modern vibe to it - with nice glass panels separating each section.

My only gripe was the fact that beers come in these plastic cups that cannot be recycled and are really thick and aren't allowed to be re-used.  Get it together Phillips.  We need a sustainable future.  Ditch these cups and give us something that we can recycle please!!!!

It's an arena in downtown Atlanta . Prices are high for food and drink. It is definitely a "get what you pay for" venue. If you get cheap seats, you can't see. I don't know any arena that is different.
I can say the staff is helpful. Shout out to Alvin (Sec 115/Dream)! He is the man at Philips with taking care of his area!
The best perk is a Taco Mac is attached to portal 7. They have a great beer selection and usually have whatever game is playing.

Good place to see a game but beers are insanely expensive (about $8 a beer). Parking is decent unless the game is sold out. You can take marta, but lets be honest... worst idea.

Your best bet is to go to the CNN center before the game for beers. They're $3 for 24oz domestics.

I'll be the first to admit. Me, I'm not the biggest sports fan. Actually I am the anti sports fan if there was one... That said, when a friend calls you up and asks to see if you and your lady wanna go to a game, I'll say yes. Why? Since they're friends, and I like hanging with my crew.

I had been to Phillips before, but it's been a while. We took MARTA since "it smarta" and got there without a problem. Walking into Phillips, I was surprised. I remember going to a few games when I was a kid in SF at Candlestick Park... Not the same at all. All indoors, and clean. I remember Candlestick being concrete and sad... This place had a vibe the complete opposite. Looking around, I saw a number of decent looking places to grab a bite. Boy how things have changed.

Granted, like I said, I am not a sports nut, so I can't say how this place compares to others, but it sure did surprise me... Unfortunately our Thrashers lost last night, but really, who cares when you're chillin' with friends.

I like that the Club Level has a selection of restaurants a step above your typical stadium/arena food. At the Club Level, restaurant choices are all Buckhead Life restaurants -- Pricci, Nava, Buckhead Diner, and Atlanta Fish Market. For tonight's Thrashers game, I decided to go with Nava's "Southwestern Taco Plate". The taco plate includes 3 tacos -- BBQ brisket, ancho chili grilled chicken, and pulled pork. All were very delicious and very flavorful, and cost $9.50. My friend ordered a burger and fries from Buckhead Diner, and thought that was one of the best burgers ever. Last year I tried Atlanta Fish Market's fish tacos and they were just ok.

I scanned the menus at all the restaurants, and food prices are pretty reasonable -- esp. when you consider what they charge in their regular Buckhead Life restaurants. And when you consider prices are probably only a few dollars more than what they charge in the "regular" food court downstairs, it's nice to have the option to eat something besides junk food. Drinks are highway robbery though - soft drinks cost $3.75.

Went here to see Beyonce earlier this month and I was a bit disappointed, given that well, it *is* Philips Arena. If I could, I'd give 3.5 stars. This place is huge, clean, and loud! Our seats were, sadly, pretty high up (not the cheapest, but not the fancy floor seats) and because it's super steep and so darn far away, Beyonce was a blurry sparkly dot! But, everyone around us was having tons of fun and it was very energetic. So, even though the view is ehh-so-so, it's alright. I know there's parking really nearby that's like $20, but you can park for around $10 (or was it $5?? I can't remember!) if you're willing to do a bit of walking...exercise is good for you, so why not?

I went to go see the NHL all-star game and was amazed at the sheer vastness of the place and the kindness of the security guard people in showing me where to go to get to my seat. The seats in the nose bleeds are definitely steep, but the crowd was good and I enjoyed the game. The mascots everywhere were a happy perk. It reminded me of a circus.

My husband and I took The Boy to Philips last night for WWE (yeah, I know, but he's 7 and LOVES it.)

Parking was a breeze, crowd was well-controlled, our moderately priced tickets were perfect, we could see the entire spectacle, and even the swag was easy to get to.  Plenty of bathrooms meant no huge lines, even though there was a capacity crowd.

Well done, Philips!  Oh, and go Rey Mysterio!

We caught a Hawks game while we were on vacation.

People were friendly, seats were accessible, and the food was pretty good.  Lots of entertainment - who doesn't like the mascot-trampoline-flip-dunk?

It was nice to see a sporting event without breaking the bank.  I think our seats were $10 and it wasn't sold out so we sat in pretty good seats.  The kids had fun.  There is a penny squisher to commemorate the experience.  Fun!

I got lucky enough to go to the NHL All Star's Skills Competition this weekend.  It was amazing to see Philips from the VIP perspective.  I entered from the side exclusive entrance.  Nice!  Then we were escorted up the stairs, with a concierge, to our suite.  We were right near the middle with the perfect view of the hockey rink.  Drinks and food were provided and were great!  This was totally different than all of the other times I've experienced Phillips.

I've also been to Philips Arena for the Mariah Carey concert.  I am totally biased because I LOVE her and no matter where she sings, I'm going to think that place is wonderful.

Really, though, it is a great venue.  It's clean and easy to get to.  It's very large and able to accommodate concerts, hockey, and basketball events.

I've been here more times than I care to remember, for both sporting events and concerts.  I was usually in a luxury suite paid for by my friend's firm (what, you thought my cheap ass company would get a luxury suite?  PUH-LEASE, they wouldn't even split a suite with another cheap ass company), although occasionally, I'd find myself down on the floor (Backstreet Boys concert, oy!).  The bathrooms on the suite level are very nice, and there are bars aplenty serving lots of ridiculously overpriced crappy domestic beer and drinks made with Beefeater gin.  The food selection as with most sports venues across the country is miserable and costs an arm and a leg.  Smokers are penned outside like criminals in a small fenced in area....AS THEY SHOULD BE!  Haha, just kidding, I used to smoke back in the day.

It's not Staples Center...but it's nice enough.  And the MARTA access is great...too bad MARTA sucks.  Docking one star for the ridiculous "ATLANTA" incorporated into the structural steel.  Not art.  Not cute.

I've seen the Thrashers here a few times and loved it!  The arena is so conducive for hockey--a nice new arena, great lighting, and comfortable seating.  Even the cheapest seats afford a good view.  There's a lot of open floor space, so they can have big food stands, autograph signings, and activities for kids, all without clogging up the flow of foot traffic.

Parking is strange.  I've parked both at the arena and about six blocks away.  Six blocks away was pretty cheap, no more than $4.50 for the evening.  But as expected, parking got pricier closer to the arena.  But parking at the arena itself was surprisingly cheaper than in a public lot a couple blocks away.  Strange, but I'll take it!

We went to see Madonna at Philips Arena.  It was our first event at this particular arena and we were VERY impressed with it.  It's first-class all the way.  The lobby area is like an upscale food court, the seats inside the arena were pretty comfortable and spacious overall, and the entire arena felt very new, clean, and modern.  Plus, they have a great, large, close parking garage right across the street.  It was very convenient to park there (even though they charged us a whopping $20).  Philips Arena is something other cities should model their arenas after.

Not being much of a hockey buff, I one night decided I needed to give this place a shot and see what going to a live game was all about.

The first rigamarole in trying to come to Phillips is parking. There's absolutely nothing nearby and cheap. We finally ended up paying $15 to park in a huge lot where we knew it was going to be hellish getting back out. Then we had to walk around with no signs to tell us where to go, and following the crowd ended up in another maze. They really don't have much of anything in the way of direction if you don't already know where you are.

The actual stadium is pretty decent. Large and spacious. There's probably not a bad seat in the house.

Unfortunately I didn't really understand watching hockey. Dudes hitting a puck around and back and forth and then all of a sudden everyone in the stands would jump up because apparently we'd scored a goal. I never noticed anyone scoring a goal. It was over before it started.

The lights and signs they had rigged up kept things flowing pretty well even when there wasn't any action, which was nice.

Fun to do once but I probably wouldn't jump back on it again except for free.

The sight lines are great from virtually every seat in the house, whether it's for sports or a concert. I should know, by this point I think I've sat everywhere from the press box to the nosebleeds in the 400 section to the glass for hockey and 8th row for a concert. It's a great venue.

If there's a complaint about Philips, it's the decision they made to put all of the box seating, club seating, and corporate muckety mucks all on side of the arena. It really creates this sense of their being the haves and the have-nots there. The best food in the building is in the club section, buy you can only access it if your seats are in that rarefied section. It's too bad, since most people in the arena don't get to try the fries covered in blue cheese at the mini Buckhead Diner.

All in all, Philips is a great spot to catch any event. It beats the heck out of some of the older venues I've been to around the country. Atlanta is lucky to have such a state of the art facility in the heart of downtown.

Cocktail style catering is good but the lunch box sandwiches the next day could have been better.  I don't know how old this is but it is certainly clean, new, and spacious.  I took the MARTA for a conference and the lobby was confusing because it turned out that there were two conventions during the same week.  The cavernous parking garage doesn't look as modern.  Like an abandoned MARTA station, it was concrete and sad.

The Philips Arena is a great place to watch some hockey! I've sat in a wide variety of sections, and can honestly say that there's not a "bad" seat in the house.

The ushers are friendly and know where all the bathrooms are (and that's great when you're a girl who hasn't got a clue!)

I have yet to encounter a single person who is employed there that is unhappy. Even the food service people are smiling and seem to love what they are doing.

Of course the food is overpriced, and so is the beer, but you can always eat first, and drink when you get home.

I definitely suggest the marta as your mode of transportation. The platforms are crowded after games, but it's a fun mad-dash for getting seats on the train. I have no personal experience from the parking deck, so if you chose to drive, you're on your own.

I wish I had a way of reviewing people who take their kids to hockey games, because my only complaint EVER about the PA, was a guy who had two kids, who he refused to control as he was on his cell phone the entire time. His kids were literally jumping up and down on the seats (directly in front of me) and then he had the audacity to complain to the ushers when the chair broke! The thing fell back and whacked me in the leg, but again, this doesn't reflect badly on Philips Arena, just on some dude's bad parenting!

The skybox suites in Philip's Arena are awesome.  I've attended concerts, basketball and hockey games there and just loved the view from the skybox.  Not to mention the abundance of free food and drinks combined with the socializing, which makes for a more entertaining event.

Once upon a time, I made the mistake of sitting in the nosebleed 300 level section. With my fear of open height spaces this was a bad idea. The stairs were so steep that I feared for my life every time I got up.  Since then I prefer the 100 or 200 level sections.  Especially the 100 level because the concession area is set up like a restaurant bar and lounge that opens up to half of the arena.  You can still see the event while you're ordering your food.  Plus you have the option to stay up there the entire event; there are flat panels, bar tables, regular tables and tons of socializing.

Check out the skybox or 100 level section the next time you go to an event at Philip's Arena.

I like the Philips Arena. I was here just last week to watch the Hawks lose to Miami. They actually tried to rally at the end, but as usual, dropped the ball, literally.

I think that Philips does a good job of making up for the fact that the team isn't all that great. Phenomenal sound system and good food. I was hanging out in a Party Suite so that gave me a chance to try an assortment of food. Hats off to the in house chef. The baked chicken, fajitas, dip, brownies, chips and salad were..umm..filling...overfilling. I am still trying to lose the two pounds I gained last week.

Anyway, check out Philips, if not for a game than for one of the many other special events hosted there.

We recently went to see Kieth Urban.
We have been to 20 venues over the last 5 years and the Phillips makes the top 3.

The place was clean, had good staff and was easy to get to and from.

As is common with areans the food and drink is way overpriced.

Phillips Arena hosts a variety of events and attractions in the Atlanta area, like its stadium predecessor the Georgia Dome.

While there are not too many people in the city of Atlanta that attend a Hawks game on a regular basis, there are many other attractions and teams that play at the arena who have had a winning record in the last 10 years (cough, cough, stinking Hawks.)

Phillips Arena actually can accredit most of the business it receives to the Thrashers Games and Concerts that it hosts.

The Arena itself is actually still very new and aesthetically pleasing.  The court area outside the arena area boasts higher quality selections of food and beer vendors to choose from than most other arenas or stadiums in Atlanta.

As far as watching concerts at the arena is concerned, I have a hard time really buying into the whole idea that it is possible to attend a great concert at the Arena.  The biggest reason is probably because of the cramped seating area that is provided.  It is hard to get into a concert when the guy next to you is dancing around and bumping into your drink with his elbows.  Then again, I guess that is part of every concert experience.

I really like this Arena.  I've only ever been to Philip's to attend ice hockey games, but I always have a good time.  I've sat in the club section, the mid-level sections (200's), either end and the sides of the 300's, the nose-bleeds (400's) and the private boxes.  I have never had a bad seat in the house, although some of the 200-level seats that are underneath the 300-level have an obscured view of the flame-throwing thrasher head.  And where else in the country can you catch a professional sports game for $10?

The food is pretty standard for an arena, with prices to match.  If you're expecting cheap food, you shouldn't attend sporting events on an empty stomach.  Beer is also relatively expensive, but not much worse than other similar venues.  A 16oz beer will run you $6.50-$6.75... note that on the top level, there's a place called "The World of Beers" or something like that, where you can get a 24 oz. beer for $7.75 which is a pretty good deal compared to the rest of the place (50% more suds for just $1 more).

The food choices in the club section are better and more upscale, but then you've likely already paid for it through the higher ticket price (or whoever bought the ticket for you has paid for it).

They do a pretty good job with running the hockey games.  There are usually silly events between periods like on-ice dodgeball or hockey with people in those puffy/padded sumo-wrestling suits.  During TV time outs (you can tell when this is because the red light down by the scorekeeper's box at center ice will be on) they'll do silly things like the "Kiss Cam" to keep you entertained.

Parking (and the traffic to get to the parking) can be pretty bad unless you know where you're going.  There are some lots on the opposite side of Centennial Park where you can get some cheaper parking (but you have to walk farther).  There are also some lots directly underneath Philips, but you need to know the secret underground path across the railroad tracks past the media entrance to get there (usually only $8).

Anyway, I always have a good time whenever I go to a Thrashers game, and I'm sure I'll be going to plenty more in the future.

Philips Arena is a great place to catch a game. I have been for a hockey game. It is set up a little different than other arenas. One side, the side with all the boxes, is vertical while the other three sides is typical arena set up. I had second level seats and the view was good.

While I don't go to many arena rock shows, the one show I did see was very cool and laid out well.  I've also seen Cirque du Soleil and basketball games here, and they have both been cool.  Good views from every seat.

My first NBA game outside of chicago....the hawks versus my beloved bulls. The bulls played like shit, but managed to squeek out an overtime win.

Going to an NBA game is so much fun. Unfortunately the people in Atlanta do not think so. Seriosuly, the stadium was half empty. Besides the game, there is so much else going on...mad props to people at Phillips Arena and the Atlanta Hwaks for makin attending an NBA gmae a very memorable one...common ATLANTA support them Hawks!

The best part about Philips is the food and drink selection. There' s chinese and beer and pretzels and chicken fingers and ... pretty much everything. It's a vast improvement on the concessions you'll find at arenas in other large cities.

You can get a cocktail for $6. That's pretty sweet. And beer is $7 - another great deal.

Unfortunately, the in-game action doesn't measure up to the culinary options. But if you're at a Hawks game, you're probably there more for the change to rub elbows with Chris Tucker than to watch basketball.

I have only been to Philips for concerts, so i'm not sure about sporting events, but it's a pretty good place to see an "arena" type show.  I just saw George Michael there last night and I have to say, it was pretty cool.  I got to sit in a "party box" which can be rented.  They have normal seats, but they also have some very comfy lounge chairs, which I only used before the show started because I was dancing the rest of the time.  I have sat in many different places in Philips and for the most part, all of the seats are pretty decent.  It's an arena, so unless you're in the front row, bring some binoculars.  My only complaint (and the reason for 3 stars) was the service -- it was SLOW!!!  I went to several vendors (ok, bars) and they were slow at each one.  Maybe they instruct the bartenders to move like turtles to keep people from getting trashed, but it was really annoying.

The Philips is pretty amazing - this is the first modern arena I have been to. As noted, it is very easy to get to, plus the food court rocks (though quite expensive, of course). Wow! This place rocked. I've been in a few arena's in my life, but never anything this great. I saw the Atlanta Thrashers play New Jersey Devils in a NHL hockey game in late Dec '06. The sound system / acoustics were incredible. I couldn't believe how loud and clean the sound was. You could clearly hear the music (which is quite rare in some arena's). The entertainment between play and during intermission was the best I've ever seen. This is a compliment more to the Atlanta hockey organization. Someone has their act together in the marketing and promotions dept. The food and alcohol selection was wide and the concession lines were short. Prices weren't too bad either. Parking (getting in & out) was easy. Of course the game was great too.
