Dear Phillies,

Thanks for winning the NLCS. I thought I was going to have a heart attack during some of your games this season but you made it all worth it. You also won on Weds. which is the day before my day off! That means I got to nurse my hangover by sleeping until 2:30 pm!

I gotta go get some coffee now so I can start my day but let me finish this by saying Ryan Howard you da man!!

xoxo

What parallel universe is this where the Phillies make clutch plays and win championships??? It feels like Narnia or Wonderland it's so magical. So magical, in fact, that after chowing down some free Turkey Hill Graham Slam and pounding beers at last night's game (where we earned our second straight trip to the World Series!!! Dodgers = pwnt), I got a little overexcited and gave the bf a bloody lip with all my jumping and limbs-a-flailing!

My postseason battery charge aside, I love that the Phils bring out the tender side of the otherwise gruff people of Philadelphia. I love seeing an old man that on any other day would have been mighty crotchety start whistling "We are the champions" and then bro pound me as I walk by. Basically, I'm in it for the affection from strangers. What can I say? I give good hug. And I slap a mean five.

World fucking champions, and good tippers to boot.  Whether I'm watching them in the park, on tv, or a few of them are drinking beers at my workplace with their wives, they are straight up the baseball team that has my heart.

Love ya boys, even when your bullpen leaves something to be desired.

I love this stadium.

Coming from London, I'm not a huge baseball fan... yet. I am really into a lot of other sports, and always love a live game. Baseball is no exception.

I find fans of the Phils to be very knowledgeable and passionate. Of course this year as World Champs they have a lot to cheer, but the new stadium has great character and there's a buzz about the place.

Views are great from all over, I love that you can walk all the way around the ground (not something that is typical of most English venues), facilities are great and prices aren't too dear (which is good considering there are about 80 home games a year!!)

Going to a game is a lot better than watching on TV, so even if you're not an avid follower, go and check out just how massive Ryan Howard is and how short J-Roll is in the flesh.

Wait, really? We're writing reviews for the Philadelphia Phillies?! OK, then. Let's.

Pops has been taking me to Phillies games for as long as I can remember and has had season tickets pretty much my whole life. I stopped caring sometime during the last few years at Vets Stadium. That entire place felt like the bathrooms at the TLA, and trying to navigate those stairs after having a beer or two is on the top five list of scariest things I've ever done.

I started caring again shortly after they moved to Citizens Bank Park. That place is dreamy. It is reminiscent of every old-style baseball park you've ever seen in a movie, with delicious Philly and ballpark staples scattered throughout. Two options of cheesesteaks? DOLLAR DOG NIGHT? I don't even eat hot dogs generally, but THEY'RE ONLY A DOLLAR.

Oh, and the team is good, too. Most of the time. After winning the series last year, I feel like I've finally dropped the childhood bitterness I felt towards this team that never did anything good. I screamed. I ran through the streets. I chugged a Guinness with a stranger. I walked all the way to City Hall, watched people climb the garbage trucks. It was cathartic, to say the least.

Anyways, WOO PHILS! I don't even know what this review will help you with. But there ya go.

When your so close to knocking another 100 reviews out of the park you have to go for at least one that's a pretty obvious choice. So I figured what could be more fitting than the world champs (and yes it felt damn good to finally be able to say that!)?

But that's not the only reason I didn't choose to review them the moment that almost all of Yelp caught Phillies fever (or disbelief). I figured that someone had to wait around to do a recap before the next season. and since I've been following the Phillies since the days of Mike Schimdt and Juan Samuel I figured that if I can wait so damn long for good things to finally happen, then I can at least wait awhile to savor it in a review.

I remember almost feeling that sensation before The Wild Thing got tamed. and if it was electric back then you best believe that it was pure dynamite when it finally happened. and rest assured whether you chose to stay in during it, or you hit the streets to embrace every moment of it (I did a little bit of each) that celebration managed to catch up with you in a BIG way.

And at the rate we're looking we could be poised for a repeat. On the good we haven't lost too many players. I was pretty down about losing Burrell since he was one of my faves (and my friend always had good stories to tell when he went into Smith & Wolensky for drinks). But Ibanez should be an interesting addition that should do his part well. And while Hamel's injury gave me a bit of a scare. We still have a pretty hardcore pitching rotation that he'll be a part of. So either way catching some games this year should be a great ride. Go Phillies!

Went to see the World Series Champions the other night.  Unfortunately they lost, but still had an ok time.  Our seats were good and the crowd polite.  Had a tasty steak sandwich from Tony Lukes.  I  am a hockey fan, so I missed some of the energy that you feel at a Flyers game, but none the less had a good time.  Would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun night out.

I don't know how I never got around to reviewing the Phillies during the season, but here I am now.  I don't think Philadelphians really need to elaborate on their love for the Phillies... it's like it's been unrequited all these years and then they went ahead and quited it in '08.

I recently had a visitor from France stay with me and I told her she ought to come back to Philadelphis in the Spring, so that we can go to a baseball game.  She said, "Oh, is your team any good?"  Uhhhh CHYEAH!

Man, I love these guys. It kills me that I'm stuck living in Boston while the greatest team in Phillies history is mowing through the majors. Also, these are great guys to root for. In an era filled with steroids, drugs, illegitimate kids and thug athletes, the Phils seem to be a group of high character guys as well (Brett Myers aside). We frist learned of this with the tarp incident in Colorodo two years ago and has followed through until now. For fans who haven't seen it, you need to check out the 2008 World Series DVD extras to see J-Roll and Ryno sing 'take me out to the ballgame', find the Rollins piece online regarding the make a wish foundation and also the Rollins/Howard "Fantasy Camp" skit. These guys are too much. It's rare to be able to say it in modern sports, but this is a group of guys I'm proud and happy to root for. Go Phils!

My love affair with baseball began at age 8, when I played little league baseball as a Trinidad Bay Fisherman.  I batted with my eyes closed, yet still managed to hit the ball.

My love affair with baseball ended after the baseball strike of 1994.

Then, I moved to Philadelphia.  And I fell in love with baseball (namely, the Phillies) all over again.

These guys have so much heart, such passion for the game.  They deserved this win, and I'm so glad the 25 year old curse has been lifted!

I'll admit it - I've never been a baseball fan. Hell, I don't even care for sports. But since the playoffs I've been sucked into the excitement that goes with living in a city whose team is poised to go all the way. And the closer the Phillies got to the series, the more interested I got.

Watching the game on Wednesday night was awesome, even though I was just on my sofa and not out with the rest of the city. And when they won I screamed and woke up the kids.

I love how the win brought our city together, even if it just lasts a few days. And now I'm a fan. Don't hate on me for being late to the party - it's amazing that now I'm a baseball fan at all! Hell must be freezing over...

Yeah Phillies! And yeah Philadelphia! I'm proud that this is my city.

I actually just became a fan this year. I cannot watch a baseball game on TV to save my life. I always fall asleep or get distracted. I was able to go to my first game this year and it was amazing. The energy the fans bring is great. Since then I've been keeping up with the Phillies and watched them win it all.

The parade was awesome! The amount of people that turned out was amazing. Lincoln Financial field could have used some more entertainment. It was pretty dull until the Phillies arrived. After that it was not worth staying any longer. I joined the fans at Citizens Bank park and the energy was amazing. It seemed everyone was just having a  good time. Philadelphia needed this... thank you Phillies!

I guess there is more pressure on the Eagles now :)

I've always been a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, but for some reason this year I am a woman obsessed.  I've spent hours watching them on the comcast sports network, I've tracked the scores of every game, I've screamed with joy and cried in frustration (but only during June).  They are doing something right, but I hope they regroup during the all star break for a strong second half, except of course our Chase, who actually plays like it's his job.  And it is.  Go Phils!

Additionally, Pat Burrell has the best ass in baseball, so the left field seats (sections 140s and 240s) are best for viewing the "games".

Here's to the World Series Champs! To a team that never gave up, no matter how crazy the circumstances. To a team that embraces the concept of underdog. To some of the most amazing defense I've seen on a diamond in years. To guys like Moyer stepping up and giving it their all when they seemed done. To guys like Burrell who kept his head in it even when he was 0 for the Series, only to deliver when it mattered most. To Rollins and Utley, who had amazing DPs in clutch moments - to clinch the season, to close out playoff games, and to eliminate an 8th-inning threat with the heart of the Rays order coming up. To Utley for nailing Bartlett at home, while my heart tried to reboot.

Thank you, Phillies, for backing up the pride we as a city have felt for so long. You are the champions, and I will buy each and every one of you a beer every time I see you for the rest of my days.

It was a thing of beauty to behold...

Been living in LA for a bit and the sunshine is great, the people and the sports fans are not.

Damn!!!! I miss my philly peoples and my teams!

Was at 2 games of the 80 World Series watching Tug, Michael Jack Schmidt, Carlton, Manny, Bowa, Rose, Boone, Bake, Maddox....

Got whacked in the head by a line drive hit by the Bull

Almost cried as a kid as I watched Eddie Murray ruin the 83 series.

Was bouncing at the Newport Club at the Warwick when Joe Carter did it to us again in 93.

Thank you Phillies!

Thank you Philadelphia!!!!

Thank you Billy Penn for looking out over the city you founded from the the pinnacle of the Comcast building, the Gentlemen's Agreement is once again honored. As is everyone who was born and bred and watched and suffered lo these many, many, many years... Sorry it took so long to put you back up on top, now we can be on top again too!

Love you PHILLY!!!!! Enjoy the parade, I'm trying to get a ticket to fly back!

The best place to see a ball game and of course they have by far the smartest and most devoted fans! They know who to boo and who to cheer. For example: always boo J.D. Drew, always cheer Aaron Rowand.

They're certainly celebrated this last year with the World Series win - I think the Lidge strikeout was one of the better stories in the series, personally.

The Phillies often have good pitching, a decent infield, and their outfield has power - but, they look to get better.

Best part - the fans after the win. There's nothing like a Philly crowd cheering in the streets all night long and at the parade.

On the day after the Phillies won the World Series, I woke up with a stranger in my bed, a broken thumb, and no idea how either one came to pass.

This is how much I love my boys.

I have no other words, they render me speechless, or I start to tear up and feel like an idiot for crying over a sports team. All I want for Christmas is Partial Season Tickets under the tree....

As a fourth-generation Philadelphian I know what it means to win a National Championship [in this case the World Series]. Thank you, Phils for restoring our faith in the city as far as sports are concerned.

The array of people on Broad Street the night of the win was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen: a diverse crowd of elated people sharing the moment with fellow city-dwellers. It was an amazing thing to be a part of + we have the Phils to thank.

I love this team.  I love Pat Burrell in particular and was holding my breath after last season 'cuz I thought he was going to get traded.  He's still on the team, and I love sitting up at Harry the K's so I can holler at him in left field.  That dude better hustle if he doesn't want an ear full.

There is something about the Phillies that makes them even more "Philadelphia" than the other sports teams.  Perhaps it's the 1980 World Series, our city's last championship win.  Perhaps it's the Phillie Phanatic, the ONLY sports mascot to perfectly represent the absurdity and humor of the fans (seriously, I love that thing).

Or perhaps it's because, in true Philly form, they take you right to the edge and then totally let you down.  It's the anticipation, the high drama, the question of, "What if the shit DOESN'T hit the fan this year?"

And what if it doesn't?  This year is SUPPOSED to be a good one for us.  We'll have to wait and see.

As a lifelong Phillies fan, I have loved my team through thick and thin, but I usually expect them to get my hopes up and then crush them at the end of the season.  However, the Phillies have been getting better and better over the last few seasons, and I had the privilege of going to today's game to witness not only Jimmy Rollins' 20th triple (to give him quadruple 20's) but also the Phillies win that clinched the division championship and a spot in the playoffs for the first time in 14 years.  As much as I loved (and still love) the guys from the 1993 team, I have to say, this Phillies lineup is the best we've had in a while.  With Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Howard, Chase Utley (my favorite), Aaron Rowand, Pat Burrell, and the rest of the boys (including up-and-comers Dobbs and Werth), the Phillies are primed to get to the World Series.

As one of the oldest teams in the MLB with some of the most losses total over the course of the team's existence, it's nice to see the Phils doing so well this year.  They're a great team in a great city, no matter what season it is, no matter what their record.  But it's especially gratifying to watch them overtake the Mets this season.

Go Phillies!

A lot of people complained about how phans reacted but I think on a whole we were pretty well behaved.  I live at 15th and Morris and the Wednesday night celebration, while not tame by any means, was safe enough for children to be in the streets.  I worked on parade day but being that I deliver beer I was practically a part of the parade.  And of course I stopped by my house to sing "SHOUT!" and Will Smith songs and chug a beer on my stoop.

I'm a die hard Phillies fan. My season tickets are in row 13 of the Diamond Club. The stadium's spectacular, the food is incredible for a ballpark (Dollar Dog Night!) and the ambiance is like no other. The only issue I have is with the ownership who won't spend the money to put this team over the hump. For that, the Fightin's get 4 stars made up of Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley and Cole Hamels.
