3 reviews for Phia Salon
I lurve Phia. I am in lurve. i don't know why I feel the need to say it with a British-ish accent, maybe it makes it all the more Serious (my lurve for Phia, that is). *swoon*
Got my hair did by Steven tonight, a color retouch and a trim, which I am so very happy with... but I just wanted to add, in addition to my last review, that what is awesome about Phia is that they seriously go the extra mile.
1. I (selfishly) wish Steven's job consisted only of shampooing and conditioning my hair, and working his amazing scalp magic massage, all day every day (selfish selfish selfish). Of any stylist at any salon I have ever been to since I was old enough to get my hair did, Steven (and the stylist I had who helped him out last time with my wash) takes the most time, care, and love with this process that generally doesn't even stand out when one thinks of a hair cut. I wanna say at least (at LEAST) ten minutes of pure bliss. It's like the difference between f'ing and makin' love. All other salons will get you off, but Phia makes you melt into a gooey happy puddle. ;)
2. My hair was last colored in November. It is not damaged at all, and is still amazingly shiny - so much so that several of the other stylists commented on it. Steven had to tell them that he only retouched my hair tonight, and the shine is from the previous color application (and his pure amazingness!). Oh god. I just LURVE the color. It's an amazing, deep, rich brown with reddish undertones... and the great thing is, it looks more authentic and matches my natural eyebrow color better than my actual natural hair color, which is a mousey brown (yuck). Um. Need I say more?
3. Steven and the whole staff interact in this amazing way, where they share tips and aren't afraid to talk to other stylists' clients - it's just so comfortable. I liked one of the stylists' amazing curls, so Steven did them on me (flat iron curls), showed me how he was going it, let me try it out (!!!) and then asked a couple other stylists for advice on technique when doing it on oneself, as well as on keeping the curl overnight. Whut! Steven, you rule.
To everyone at Phia, and esp. Steven... um, seriously? I can't believe you guys are real! ((((((((((((((PHIA))))))))))))))) LURVE YOU!!!

Just so you know, this is the first time I've let someone cut my hair in six months. And before… Read more »
I moved to Columbus from out of state and left my favorite stylist of 5 years. I searched for about a year and finally found a great stylist who had a great way with blondes! I've been going to Aveda salons for the past 10 years b/c they are eco-friendly and make my fine, thin, blonde hair look lively and soft.
I really like this salon b/c my stylist listened to what I wanted and recommended what was going to be the best option. They give you the price before even starting your hair so there are no surprises. This is so refreshing! There are different levels of stylist seniority so the price varies (which is why i didn't assign a price range).
Everyone in the salon is super nice and laid back. Being blonde is truly the most expensive accessory so I am def a picky client... Thanks to my new stylist Steven! See ya in 7 weeks :-)
I am VERY picky about my hair. So much so, that even after moving to Columbus a year and a half ago, I was still driving up to Detroit to get my hair done. After this become a little impractical last June, I decided to start searching for a new salon. One mishap with another salon almost had me driving back to Detroit, until a group from Phia came into my workplace to advertise this awesome salon.
I booked an appointment with Sarah, one of the specialists at Phia. I loved how she took the time to sit down and actually discuss and educate me about hair care-my hair never looked better! I had booked a color appointment, but work called me out of town which ended up turning my hair into a color nightmare when having to visit salons in Chicago and Madison.
I went back to see Sarah again to see what could be done with my hair. I will never let anyone else touch it again! Again, she sat down to discuss whether or not I was concerned with time, the process, EVERYTHING! She even brought out a book showing me the prices of what everything was going to cost-a big plus in my book so that you're not surprised when you think you're getting a $60 color and your end result is over $100 (has happened to me before!). The color turned out so perfect and was exactly what I wanted. Hair that had been fried was now soft and the cut looks great and is easy to maintain. They show you recommended products, but there is no pressure to buy.
The personal attention, coffee service, free facials, lack of pressure AND a stylist that actually LISTENS to you will keep me coming back and will having me recommend this jewel of a salon to everyone in Columbus!

History
Established in 2004
We started as a Franchise with a company call Haircolorxperts. When the Franchise folded, it was the best thing to happen to us. We could finally come out from underneath them, and create who we were. Along with our stylists and manager, we created PHIA. Originating from the word "phi" known as the Golden Ratio or Divine Proportion, it is a mathematical ratio that seems to appear recurrently in beautiful things in nature as well as in other things that are seen as "Beautiful". We felt this was appropriate for a salon and for what we wanted to create for our clients, stylists and community. Now in our 2nd year as Phia, we have grown more than 60% over last year. We also decided to partner with Aveda and have earned Concept Status, and expect to be a Lifestyle Salon in the next 6 months (there are under 50 salons Nationwide that have earned Lifestyle status). Our catch phrase is: Come be pampered in our upscale, yet down-to-earth "snob-free zone." We hope you will visit us soon.
Meet the Business Owner: Elizabeth B.
As a successful Franchise owner in the past, Elizabeth chose to enter into the field of Beauty to revolutionize the industry. She wanted to bring a business element to her stylists and teach them how to treat clients with class and care, in a positive and "snob-free" atmosphere. Elizabeth's passion is in Health and Wellness, which is one reason why she chose Aveda as her product line. She is involved in the salon on a daily basis and continues to create and follow up on systems that will give clients an amazing experience every time they walk in her salon.
