8 reviews for Pf Chang's China Bistro
P.F. Chang's is for sure a fancied up chain with average service, but the food is actually really good. This location in particular does it better than others, and maybe that's due to its size and relation to the mall (which makes you want to escape to something else as soon as you go inside heh).
My friends and I have gone here many times over the years, and you always get a quality dish with a plentiful portion. The lettuce wraps and Mu Shu Pork are popular choices, but I personally like the Beef with Broccoli and Dynamite Shrimp appetizer the best. The drinks are not to be missed either, they have a wide variety of beers and liquors; try the Chinese 88 Martini if you get a chance, you won't be disappointed.
They certainly have their share of small issues though. The waitstaff is strange just about every time I've been. Either they're polite in a "fake" manner, or they're inexperienced and don't know how to properly prepare dishes on the menu which require extra attention. The seating can also be crowded if you go at a busy time, so make sure to try and snag a booth if it looks questionable.
Much better than chinese take-out though, and they have so many dishes to try that it's worth going several times to make sure you find the ones you like best.
I went with my family for a special occasion. The service was very good, we were seated immediately, our waitress was very friendly and the appetizers were server promptly.
The food however took close to 40 mins. to arrive and was nothing special. The chicken lettuce wraps were delicious. The Kung Pao Chicken was tasty but the rice was dry, cold and clumpy, and that's a pity because a mediocre rice can destroy a great Asian dish.
Overall, if you're looking for authentic Chinese food I wouldn't go near PF Chang's
My friends and I had a great experience here. We came on a Saturday around lunch time and were seated within 5 minutes. The server came right away and explained the different sauces, took our drink orders and brought them back quickly. He asked if we wanted any appetizers, brought them out and refilled the glasses. Then he helped us with the menu, took our food orders and our food was served in a timely manner. Again, drinks were filled and he checked to make sure I was still good on tea (it doesn't come in a clear glass, so for all he knows it's full or empty).
Food was great. Not the best meal I've ever had, but far above average and I'm dreaming about my lamb dish. My roommate felt his meal wasn't what he expected, but he didn't know what to expect and he was still happy with what he got. We all had leftovers and the prices weren't too bad. Each of us paid $20 for drinks, appetizers, meals and tip.
This is a prime example of why I don't usually like chains. Everything was just OK, nothing spectacular. Americanized Asian food, dumbed down for the masses. I did like the dipping sauce for the Spring Rolls. Probably because I got to mix it myself.
The Double Fried noodles were OK but rather bland. I really enjoyed my flight of three sake's. On a positive note, my server was really nice and cute too! :)
Overall Review 8 of 10
For all of our visits to PF Changs for Sunday afternoon lunch, I can't believe I haven't spoken of it here. This is one of our typical places for a consistently good, inexpensive lunch. Dinner can have up to a 2 hr wait, its a chain remember so the cows come grazing on the weekends. The food is always good, and the ice tea is perfect.
What We Have 9 of 10
We always have Tofu Lettuce Wraps. Our favorite entrees to split are Lemon Pepper Shrimp, Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour anything, and a few others. You have to try the ice tea, but don't add sugar - its perfect as is
Atmosphere 6 of 10
This is a big time chain, so the atmosphere is a bit standard. It's nice and always clean, but just a bit dull when you see the same thing across the US. At least you know what you are going to get. The bathrooms are always a pleasant surprise, with stone sinks and nicer then average paper towels.

Valet parking for Changs is free so long as you eat there, so on a Sunday afternoon at the mall when the parking lot is full, a nice lunch gets you easy access parking. The waits to get in at prime time can be quite long, which is why we go for lunch.
I've been to this chain 3 times and this specific place twice. The food is designed for a trepidatious palate unused to Asian foods. Despite this the food is pretty good on the way in. However each time I've gone here, my stomach has not been happy. Now I've been to Hong Kong, Singapore, India, and eaten and loved much of the native foods with an abundance of spice. I have a shaker of MSG that I cook with at home. So whatever it is between P.F.Chang's food and my intestines is odd indeed. Noone else in my party has this issue though.
They're also quite the autocrats about the sauce mixing. Woe be you who dare to try mixing a sauce on oone's own.
Generally speaking I'm really not a fan of big chains. But this one with it's odd Asian inspired cusine with wonderful vegetarian options has got me. I love the tofu lettuce wraps appitizer and coconut curry entree. The iced tea is also good and they make a nice Singapore Sling.
My husband on the other hand, is more of a fan of authentic Chinese food so this isn't his cup of tea. I've traveled through Asia and would agree that this is pretty Americanized but that's ok, it's the way I like it!
Service and ambiance at this PF Changs were both well above average. Tried the ultra-spicy Dali Chicken dish, which was overcooked and just a bit dry. The spicyness was not overwhelming or distracting from the other flavors, which were delightful. We also had the spicy eggplant appetizer which was great and even somewhat addictive, as well as the "famous" lettuce wraps which were pretty good even though the fillings should have been served warmer. Expensive place, and I got the feeling that if it wasn't so dark in the dining area, the food would look and taste similar to Chinese food you get at a shopping mall food court.
