We really love this PetSmart's grooming service and staff. They are really great with our dog, Daisy who is frightened of baths and lots of other things. We go frequently to get grooming for her there and the staff is accomodating and love animals. THey are also really great with scheduling and really try to work with you.

I've been here several times and never have had any real complaints...until now.
First, let me say that the staff is usually helpful if you can find someone to help you, besides up at the registers. I'm pretty much trained to immediately migrate back to the cat area...after looking at the kitties up for adoption first. I think I've been asked if I needed help once, maybe twice.
They never seem to have turtles/tortoises for sale(or any impressive reptiles for that matter), but there's always a plethora of birds and small furry things...which I'm pretty indifferent to.
ANYway, I just called (have you ever had to immediately review something because it just sucked?) to ask about pet carrier sizes for my move to Seattle. The airline has specific pet carrier size regulations, so I needed specific information. *Also, just as a minor side note, I called PetCo in the Hancock Center just before this, so my comparison is to the PetCo. I think I'm going to edit my review of them next.* I got an automated machine answer and I selected to be sent to the operator. The girl was USELESS!!! She merely said that they had all different sizes of carriers. As I tried to explain my dilemma, she seemed annoyed, then repeated herself. Then told me that I needed to come into the store to see the variety. Bitch!
This phone experience alone (in comparison to the PetCo experience) will probably make me not go into the store again...even though I am a PetPerks cardholder! -

I'll tell you why. .
the brand of parakeet seed that my picky ass birds like to eat has changed it's packaging and for some reason they only sell it at Target now. But this place has the same bird seed packaging that was on before the packing change (2 years) still on their shelf.. talk about fresh bird vittles. -

Its a petsmart, its nothing special, some of the people that work there are nice and helpful but a little un-informed, but some of them are just down right terrible.
I go to this location at least once a week to get some crickets for my skink, and I would say at least once a month it will take over 20 minutes to get someone over to the fish and cricket area to get me some.
They have allot of birds that live in the store, and not just in the care to sell. if you ever get a chance to you know wait for someone to come get crickets for ya, look up and watch the rafters, full of birds. I wonder if any employees ever get pooped on ;P
For some things going here is great cause it will be cheap, but for buying critters you can find better stores. -

Since it is becoming very warm outside, I wanted to get my yorkie shaved for the summer. I called around to many boutiques in austin and none of them could get us in for a very long time. I called this pets smart and they got us in the next day! She knew exactly what I wanted and shaved him in record time. He came out looking great and smelling even better! Thank you!

If you want your dog bathed/brushed by a professional, take them to Martina. She has groomed several of my dogs for over 5 years. She is the best kept secret in Austin. No joke. I have never seen my dog so white! When you take your dog, make sure you call and specifically ask for her. I did have one instance where Martina was not scheduled to be on duty yet, and someone else decided to do the bath/brush. It was so obvious my dog was not groomed by her. She is nice, professional and and all around good person.

This reference is specifically regarding their grooming service. I have taken my Chihuahua to them for about a year now to trim his nails. They've usually done an ok job in the past, but yesterday I had them file down his nails (which I hadn't asked for in the past) and when I went to get him after paying I noticed that one of his pads on his paws were bright pink. Apparently when they were filing his dewclaw on his right front paw, they scraped all of the skin and hair off of the pad adjacent. They somehow didn't notice this and seemed surprised when I showed them. Mistakes happen and I certainly know that my dog can be squirmy when it comes to getting his nails trimmed, but what really concerned me was when I asked for some antiseptic to clean the wound, the staff person I was working with left the grooming office and went into the manager's office to get one of those alcohol pads you might find in a first aid kit. Shouldn't a grooming center have some antiseptic on hand? I found that pretty disturbing. Needless to say, my dog and I will not be returning to that location for their grooming services.
