This is what a diner should be. Interesting characters perch on counter stools chomp on blueberry pancakes and provide people-watching enjoyment for your own blueberry pancake-chomping.

Pete's is a solid, four star Baltimore breakfast spot. It's proximity to the Farmer's Market on the weekends increases this to five stars, if you can get a seat in a decent amount of time.
Order anything with blueberries in it, and you'll be glad you did.
That doesn't just go for Pete's Grill. Like, as a "Positive Life Maxim", perhaps "Positive Life Maxim #79" ORDER ANYTHING WITH BLUEBERRIES IN IT, AND YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID.
Jack Handey, you're not allowed to steal that. It's Ben Valis' "Deep Thought'
For Real.
At this neighborhood staple in Waverly, you'll find cops eating breakfast on weekdays, and large masses of Hopkins students on the weekends.
Personally, I like the simpler things, like blueberry pancakes or waffles, but they have a full fare of southern cooking -- from scrapple to chipped beef and milkshakes.
100% counter seating can lead to long waits on a weekend, best bet is to show up on a weekday morning.
Apparently, this is also Michael Phelp's (of Olympic gold medal fame) favorite breakfast place in Baltimore.
