10 reviews for Peter's Sushi & Thai
The Good: Nashville native - best sushi in Nashville. It's like a party in your mouth and you didn't empty your wallet. My girlfriend and I eat here regularly, as do lots of famous people - as I see them there. Passed by Kieth Urban and Nicole Kidman the other night. They probably come for the Tempura Rolls too.
The Bad: Service sucks at PEAK hours - but can you blame them? The place is a little on the "oh my gosh I can hear your conversation and that's disgusting" cramped, but for the sheer joy you'll have at just tasting the burps after you're done eating this manna from heaven you'll find that it's well worth the crap you put up with. I'd probably endure hours of water boarding if it meant I could eat Peter's sushi afterwords.
Advice: Eat here and be cool like everyone else in Brentwood. Call ahead seating available (read: call ahead if you're smart).
The sushi is very yummy but the service is hit or miss. Because of that I cannot give it a 5, but very close. Also a little too pricey.
this is not a good review. it's written by an adult, and it contains language as such. here goes:
this place is shit. pure, utter shit. the time i went, i got two rolls. one was a green dragon roll that was terribly uninspired, for lack of a better adjective. it did have one saving grace, though, which was the abundance of avocado on it. but the other one, i think it was a volcano roll? it was fried, and had watered down general tso's sauce on it. please, allow me to repeat:
DEEP FRIED FAIL WITH WATERED DOWN GENERAL TSO'S SAUCE.
surely i'm not the only person that has beef with this?? a friend had two shitty rolls, and his fiance had a shitty ginger beef. this place is ass. i guess that's what i get for fucking with sushi outside the city...
simply put: this place is ass.

I'm that wimpy sushi person that likes the most popular rolls, and I'm never into trying anything too crazy. My husband is the opposite. And we can both find something to love at Peter's. And apparently, so can dozens of celebrities like Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman, Brooks & Dunn, Miss America, and a huge batch of other b- and c-list country has-beens that like to have their faces on the walls of restaurants.
My favorite item on the menu is the Volcano roll. So yummy. The ginger dressing on the salad is incredible, too! Sake, beer & wine are all super cheap here. After all, it's a Brentwood strip mall. But I'm sure they could jack up the prices and still be just as busy as they are now. It is really busy, as others have noted, so try going on a week night to avoid crowds.
I miss working in Brentwood for three reasons, and three reasons only:
1) TJ Maxx
2) Chick-Fil-A
3) Peter's Sushi
Peter's is probably the best sushi in town only next to Virago. But that's an entirely different atmosphere! Located in a strip mall next to lord knows what else, Peter's isn't in the best location--and it's super tiny--but it's worth the wait in line!
For lunch it's top notch--just get ready for the crowd. You can get a sushi roll, salad, and soup for less than $10. Phenomenal! My favorite roll is the green dragon--different kinds of rolls (I think tuna and salmon) with avocado on the outside. Messy but SO good! Also, the spicy tuna will clear your sinuses but I always make room for it.
Service is speedy and no-nonsense, place is clean although a little loud. Just know that if you are going for a business meeting!
Who knew that out in the 'burbs of Brentwood would be the 2nd best sushi place in town? Check it out!
This place has gone way downhill. The food is now overpriced for the portion and quality. The service is shit and the place is way too crowded. What's with the holding tank? They seem to fail to grasp the concept of a waiting area. You do not shove people into a glass tank and expect them to be ok with it, especially in the winter. The tables are dirty. Service is awful. Just don't go here and don't follow the hype. There are cheaper places to eat and with better quality food. I don't see how this place continues to be in business, except for people who don't know real Thai food or good sushi.
If you live in Brentwood, chances are you've probably either been to or heard of Peter's and it's probably for a good reason. As a regular patron all I can do is sing their praises. The staff is friendly, attentive, and generous. They always go out of their way to make sure you're getting the best service possible. The head chef Peter, who previously worked at another sushi bar, has people coming from all around just to eat his amazing sushi creations. The specialty rolls are usually the most inventive and combine fruits and sauces with tempura style deep fry. I would recommend either the Husband and Wife roll or the Dragon Roll, but make sure you get there early because it's always packed!
Best sushi in Nashville, and their other entrees are good too. We always go there for the sushi, though. The Dragon roll is our favorite. The fish is consistently pretty fresh--thouh I just got back from CA where I had amazingly fresh sushi that can't compare to what can be found in TN. I give it a 4 because it's the best in Nashville, but if it were located in a Los Angeles, or a NYC, it'd probably warrant a 3 or 3.5. The presentation is ok, but I'm kind of a sushi snob when it comes to presentation (I lived in Japan for a while). Also, try the agadashi tofu. Go really early--it's been especially crowded since the Tennessean wrote it up.
7/08 addendum:
Peter's just moved next door to a bigger space. It's pretty and doesn't feel as crammed, but speed of service is about the same. A couple more of our favorites: try the pineapple curry and the smoothie roll. they do a decent katsudon too. --and I know it's not exactly authentic, but the crab ragoons are pretty tasty!
Every sushi place always has at least one review that says " This place is the best sushi in Nashville". Well they are all wrong (except Emily Y.) because Peter's is that place. And although I too claim to be a "sushi snob" and also have spent a bit of time in Japan myself you don't have to take my word for it. This is not just my favorite sushi spot it is also Keith Urban & Nichole Kidman's favorite. They frequent it. I have seen them with my own eyes. And if that is not enough show up on a Friday or Saturday night and see the crowd that tries to fit itself in this place. And if that is not enough try their sushi. It's enough to make me drive all the way from the other side of town just to taste it.
I also second the Dragon roll recommendation (although i usually order it with shrimp only filling.)
The wait staff is amazing and know my entire family and what we like to order. But then again we have been regulars since I was in high school. (and even followed them when they left Miyako and opened Peter's)
They are very friendly but they are also usually very busy.
The only bad thing about Peter's is that they are closed on Sunday's.
Try this place once. You will be forever changed.
p.s. the address is wrong. hopefully they will change it soon.
It's advertised as a Thai/Asian Fusion Sushi place. While it may be a hole in the wall and the service may suck, I can not emphasize enough the high quality and more importantly the creative type of sushi. I highly recommend getting take-out and making it a evening picnic seeing as how no sushi place opens until late afternoon.
