PROS: large selection of chinese food. they have sushi as well. i believe on weekend dinners they have lobster? their prices are pretty fair.. although they have gone up. The prices used to be really good

CONS: food quality has gone down hill. years ago the line to get in would be out the door.. now you can go in during peak times and find a seat right away. food is oily and seems like it has been sitting there all day.

It used to be 4 stars, now it's 3

The price is excellent, the service is okay, the cleanness is so-so, the food quality needs some improvement! Now I understand why the food is so cheap.

I found a piece of wired brush in my food. The waitress and manager
apologized a lot, so it was okay. That's why there's 2 stars. One added cause of that.

Be sure to pick clean plates--I saw many dirty plates and soup bowls that have not been washed very well.

This is A BUFFET RESTAURANT. Don't compare this to full-serviced restaurant. Go for the price--don't go for the food that much!

I wouldn't come to eat at this place even if it was for free. First of all the overall sanitation of the place is terrible. Makes me wonder how they manage to pass the sanitary inspectors rigid standards.
I haven't even seen the kitchen yet and I dont think I want to even see nor smell where the food is coming from.

I actually really like Peter Pan for their sushi and sashimi. The only catch is that the sushi chef is a money hoarder. She will scoff in your face if you don't tip her. If you don't tip don't expect to get anything good from the sushi bar. In fact she may even curse you in Chinese, yell at you, and give you straight out evil stares. But if you want your sushi and sashimi, I'd say it's worth the additional buck or two. That's really all it takes to get this lady working for you. If you speak Chinese to her that's another plus. She speaks Mandarin.

As far as the other foods, I'm not too much of a fan. Wonton soup isn't bad, frog legs, salt n pepper shrimp, and mussles are okay.

If you want Hotpot this place isn't bad. But you have to pay like $5 additional (not per person I don't think).

Stay away from the oysters. They are putrid. If you want oysters at a Chinese Buffet, I recommend Tyson's in Rockville.

Most of the desserts suck too. Even the ice cream.

If you want alright quality sushi and sashimi, the buffet includes drinks and at 12.95 a person plus a buck or two for tip I think it's fair.

I honestly only go for the sushi, sashimi, hotpot, and sesame balls.

Came here last winter and it wasn't that great.
The food was a bit cold and didn't taste right to me.
There are a good variety of food don't get me wrong, but everything I ate that day was just nasty.
Who knows how long the food was sitting out and the place felt very dirty.
I guess I just came on the wrong day.
Anyways,
When it's really busy, you'll be waiting in line FOREVER just to get a table. It also gets so crowded.
Service is ok.
I'd probably give it one more try.

I went here last night with a couple of friends. This place is best suited for going if you want a ton of food for not much money. It's quite inexpensive to eat here, and the selection is quite elaborate. The seating arrangement they have is also well suited for large groups of friends to go, so that's worth noting. Some items are very good (especially in the seafood section) but overall, it's average/above-average kind of food. Going item by item though, I have seen these dishes prepared better elsewhere - but of course, you pay a lot more in such places.

For $13, you get a variety of food to feast on. Not the best in the world. But, then again, it's $13. If it was $30 per person, I would be disappointed. For this price, it's good enough for me to get my Chinese fix.

I used to come here very often with my friends back in high school. if you're young, get allowance, and hungry as a cow, Peter Pan looks pretty damn enticing. It was definetely great for us back in the day, cuz we would destroy the place. I've been back once earlier this year and it was the exact same. The price point is pretty cheap. The menu items boast seafood such as fried shrimp, oysters, mussels, fish. There's also a lot of other choices. When one goes to a buffet that doesnt have such a high price point, he or she obviously doesnt go there expecting some gourmet meal. I feel like the place is absolutely acceptable on a sleepy Saturday, when you've been out all night with your friends and hungover like hell.

Worst.  Chinese.  Buffet.  Ever.

Peter Pan is weeping in his sleep in Neverland somewhere right now. It's not really hard to screw up a chinese buffet -- I even came in with low buffet expectations. But it was a free meal ... so I couldn't pass it up.

I think the only thing I enjoyed here (and I using that term very liberally) was the fried chicken and apple cobbler. Yes, this is a chinese buffet. Yes, I understand that I'm not at a KFC. But trust me ... you'd stick with the fried chicken and cobbler too.

Half the buffet food was cold, the other half was some cruel joke of mystery chinese buffet food accoutrements. Just looking at the shucked oysters next to the heat lamp gave me the sweats. You, Mr. "I'm eating these to get my money's worth!" are a brave soul. Stupid, but brave.

Never eat at a restaurant named after a fictional character that wears green tights. Lesson learned.

I'm not a fan, but if quantity and variety float your boat, this is your place.

Beware, I've seen Peter Pan destroy a man. He ate so much he had to go lie down in his car before we even received the check. He was subsequently a useless vegetable for hours.

The one feature that earns an extra star: Peter Pan is the only buffet that I know of where you can get Peking Duck.

I gave 4 stars for its HOTPOT buffet, not Chinese food buffet. It's the only place I know that have traditional Chinese hot pot. It's cheap and very nice. I know there is almost no technical requirement for Chinese hot pot, you only need raw materials, but the fact that they have it is very impressive.

It's about $10 a person and maybe $4 for the hot pot. I think you can share the pot with 2 other people. Don't remember accurately since last time I went there was in winter. You only want to eat Chinese hot pot in winter, and they only have it during winter, but it's really good.

You put whatever you can into a blow of boiling chicken soup, spicy or not, then eat the fresh boiled meat/seafood/vegetable with all kinds of reasoning/dressing. Very hot and so delicious. They have all kinds of stuffs. Beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, clam, crab, inners, and different kinds of mushroom, tofu, and  vegetable, about 15-20 or even more different kind of stuffs that you can cook by yourself, and about 10 different sources/dressing/seasoning. You can also cook noodle, dumpling, rice noodle to make sure you have enough. At the end, you drink the soup, and it has very very rich flavors and you can't stop drinking it.

You can also eat the ordinary buffet if you want to.

I didn't like Chinese buffet. The spirit for Chinese food is to eat small portion but very nicely done, but to stuff your stomach as much as possible. Hot pot is slightly different, you want to have good variety and fresh food, and most importantly, a friend who you want to cook and eat with.

Another kudos for the hotpot:

Coming from the SF Bay Area to visit family, we somehow end up at Peter Pan, the big chinese buffet joint in a mall.  I normally don't like chinese buffets, but this trip we totally grooved on the hot pot.

Can't think of a better way to stay warm and commune than getting a pot of boiling water at your table and throwing in uncooked

water cress
napa cabbage
tofu skin
shitake 'shrooms
mussels
fresh blue crab*
fish
squid
beef (for flavor)
mung bean noodles

My 4 yo niece must've chowed down on 10 crabs!*

And the broth you get from this?  To die for.  No oil, no MSG, no grease.  Just nectar from the Chinese kitchen gods.

*Sorry to my Bay Area fisherfolk, blue crab is waaay better than dungeness: sweet and 'xien' (shien?- have no idea how to transliterate "savory-delicious")

Check it out soon- not sure if this is available year-round.

I've been all you can eating here for many many years.  Like the other reviewers, I have to agree that the food has gone downhill.  Perhaps it is a feeble attempt at maintaining lower prices than other all you can eat establishments, but the fillers in every dish really aren't cutting it.  On the other hand, they have a great variety.  They have everything from "peking duck" (it's just regular cantonese style bbqed duck that's "chopped" up into cubes and contains a very large amount of fat, which is not how usually peking duck is made), noodle and wonton soups (decent), desserts, etc.  I used to like their seafood, but I really have no idea where they fish their "fresh oysters" from...  the last one I dared try two years ago, had large amounts of shell flake into the oyster...  at least I hope it was black shell...  The salty fried crabs were also good at one point in time, but recently, it's suffering from "powderyness."  I don't known what it is, but whenever I eat seafood that has a powdery texture, it's usually because it's old, or left out too long before cooking.  Can't go wrong with almond jello and chinese doughnuts though... and when you feel like just stuffing yourself silly with MSG, this is the place for you.  If memory serves me correctly, there is usually a long wait on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.

Am i allowed to give zero stars?

After hearing from mulitple people that Peter Pan had been closed due to health violations, but still being hungry for a chinese buffett, i did some research and was able to find out online what exactly they were closed for.  Deciding that it was worth a shot, my friend and i went.  Man were we disappointed.

The only positive thing i can come up with for this place is that it was inexpensive and included a drink.  Thats really it.

There was a large selection, but most of it was seafood, and since i dont like seafood i was relinguished to the typical chinese food fare.  I think the best thing i ate there was the piece of pizza.  It was surprisingly good.

Most of the dishes were oily and lacked flavor.  The sweet and sour chicken was not bad, but it isn't hard to mess that up!

At the end of the meal all i wanted was some ice cream and a fortune cookie.   Too bad the ice cream was awful and i never got my fortune cookie

I think i would have been better off eating a egg and cheese bagel at Dunkin Donuts in the same shopping center

Ok, this review is going to hopefully explain why so many people have given poor reviews.  First off, if you only focus on the Chinese buffet, then yes, this place is not all that great.  If this place was as bad as some of these reviews suggest, there wouldn't be a line out the door filled with Asian people.

To fully appreciate this place, you must get the hotpot.  The section of the buffet has a ridiculous amount of options.  This is what the Asian people do and when in Rome...  Also, do not waste your time with the standard buffet fare.  Eat the seafood.  If you hate seafood, do not come here.  This place actually had decent quality raw oysters.  I was shocked and amazed.

The Chinese buffet is nowhere near the best in the world, but they do offer some pretty crazy options.  This is one of the first buffets that I've seen offer frog legs.  They also do a decent Hong Kong style noodle soup.  Do not be fooled by their all you can eat pho.  It is horrible.  Their Peking duck wraps are edible.  That's all I can say about it.  The seafood is what you have to get here.  I saw people just grab plates of clams and mussels in bean sauce.  These dishes at normal Chinese restaurants can run 10 dollars a serving.  That's what I call targeted eating.  You have to get your money's worth.  It's a war between you and them.

I've had much worse than this.  Go for the hotpot and seafood.  Don't eat the normal stuff, it's not great.  You have to see this place for what it is.  It's a pretty cheap Chinese buffet with a decent hotpot.  Most of the people who dine here are looking for a cheap way to take their families out to dinner.  If you are looking for a quality Chinese buffet (pretty sure that's an oxymoron), don't go here.

The food's not excellent overall, but it's pretty cheap if you're coming in for lunch. Go around and try small portions out before you commit to grabbing a bunch of whatever for your plate. You'll be happy if and when you find something that you like.

I really like the french fries. The fried fish filet thing (it's hard to tell what it is before biting in) is pretty decent, but I preferred the fried flounder on the bone. The sushi only superficially resembles real sushi and probably is made from imitation meat. I would not recommend putting anything in the tip cup.

I would have tried the crab and some of the other seafood items if I hadn't had a huge headache from sightseeing around D.C. As such, I didn't feel really hungry, but I got to appreciate the soda fountain that was included in the price of the meal.

Just before we left, I tried the frozen yogurt. Compared to frozen yogurt from Costco or a dedicated fro-yo place, the texture was gritty with ice particles, not creamy, and the sweetness was probably artificially enhanced. I actually thought it was going to be really watery when it first came out, and it does melt quickly, but it least it was a decent treat.

Come here if you want to stuff yourself or want to eat a variety of foods, but don't expect anything special.

If you want to eat alot of seafood, this is the place to go.  Shrimps, crabs (available most of the time), mussels, clams, squid, and fish (fried fish (flounder i think), baked salmon) (for the price and variety, I give them 5 stars).  Sometimes they'll have quail, frog legs, and chicken feet.  You'll also find noodle soup bar and a peking duck wrapping area.  There is also a small sushi bar with maybe 1/2 a dozen type of rolls (of course this is a chinese buffet so my expectations are low in this department).  Compared to other great sushi restaurants of course, I would give them 2 1/2 stars but as they are a chinese restaurant, I'd give them 4 stars.  Other non-chinese items found here are pizza and fries.  The servers are great at clearing your plates away and bring you fountain drinks as they are included in the price.

I was the destroyed man that Aaron E. was referring to.  The food really isn't that good.  But, I guess people get that buffett mentality, where you need to get your money's worth.  Speaking of buffett mentality, let me share with you five rules of buffett eating.  Being from an Asian family, these have been inculcated into me, since I was a child.

1) NEVER get the rice, noodles, bread, or any of the other carbs.  These are there for filler.  Back when I was a kid, I used to love lo mein.  I would just eat plates of lo mein.  I'm pretty sure I was spanked as a child because of that.
2) ALWAYS get the seafood.  Wait by the buffett counter if you need to.  Seafood is generally more expensive than the rest of the food.  Anytime you go to a buffett, you'll see the seasoned buffett veterans with a plate full of only shrimp or crab legs.  These are the real pros.  They always know when the next batch is coming out, and always end up with over half of the tray on their plate.  It takes a lot of skill and buffett experience to master this art.
3) Always read the fine print.  Some times buffett places will say that if you leave too much wasted food on your plate, they will make you pay more.  But, if there is nothing stating that, then you have the ability to go crazy.  I once went to a sushi buffett that didn't have that rule in place.  While I was there, I saw a guy with about 72 rice balls stacked neatly on his plate.  Basically all this guy did was go and take every piece of sushi he could find, and eat only the fish and leave the rice.  It was genious, and it took balls.  Personally I would've felt bad about wasting all that rice, but the guy didn't care.  He just tipped the lady a buck and walked right out.  It was awesome!!!
4) Don't get anything to drink.  Same as the no carb thing.  You'll end up stuffing yourself with Coke and you're losing one solid plate of food space by drinking sodas.
5) This is probably the most important rule.  Eat fast.  That means no talking.  No wasting time.  No sitting back and letting your food digest.  I read somewhere once that it takes 15 minutes for your brain to register if your stomach is full.  Well, that only gives you 15 minutes of leeway to eat as much as you can until your body wants to barf.

So these are my rules.  Thinking about it now, these are probably some pretty bad rules to follow.  Unless you want to pass out in a car because you ate a few too many bowls of dumplings.

I have gone several times to this place without a problem but tonight after coming back with my second plate I find my 1st plate still there. This is no big deal just move it to another table for them to pick up right? WRONG. I get chewed out by the waitress on proper procedure. I might have known something was up when earlier I went up to ask for chop sticks and she just pointed at them, which were right next to her, but she never moved. The whole dinner was like this with several other "episodes" involving her bad attitude. The manager said he would have a "meeting" with her about this later, yea right. I am definitely not going back, the food wasn't even very good.
