This cute restaurant will make you want to eat your garden =) They top every dish with a signature rose petal! And they don't stop there with the petal theme! Petals are painted on the walls as if they are falling from the sky, and fresh flowers enhance the theme.
An interesting highlight is the bathroom floor, which is covered with a painting of a koi pond! It's a bit of an illusion, and it makes you feel like you're stepping right into a pond.
As for the food, the crab cake appetizer consisted of two round balls that were crispy on the outside and stuffed with crab on the inside. The thai iced tea wasn't too strong and had a light sweetness - one of the best I've tasted. I even have to compliment the water, which they served with thinly sliced apples instead of lemons.
All in all, Petals was cleverly themed without being corny. And I will always remember this restaurant as the place where I ate rose petals. -

Beautiful, cute little restaurant in the heart of downtown Benicia, right next to the first capitol of CA way back during the Gold Rush Era. Situated on a quaint little corner, Petals has a very well thought out theme, carrying it throughout the food and decor without making it overly corny and kitschy.
The interior is warmly decorated, with the back room boasting rich and vibrant reds and a huge floral decoration that really brings a very glam feel to the small room. I love that they put apple slices instead of lemon into the drink, and include little paper umbrellas in your drinks. The presentation of the entrees are surprisingly beautiful, with fresh carnations as a garnish on every dish. The bathroom is also beautiful as well, with the floor painted as a koi pond, giving a fantastic visual illusion. LOVE!
As for the food, not as good as I would have hoped it to be based on the price. The selection was a bit small, most of the meats were simply listed as "grilled" - there were some other selections such as eggplant and mongolian beef, but my party mostly ordered from the dinner menu as follows:
Pre-Dinner Rolls - Hmmm, disappointing. Seems like they're store bought dinner rolls warmed up... ;(
Grilled Salmon - Tasted the best, in my opinion but honestly, nothing to write home about - good thing was it wasn't overcooked...
Grilled Filet Mignon - The meat on the inside was more tender on the outside, which threw me off. I don't think ANY part of a filet mignon should be tough and rough on the tongue...that and the mashed 'taters were SOUR... needless to say, i left that ALONE.
Bangkok Seafood - Tasted pretty good, with big portions of seafood...
I am pretty disappointed in the food, actually. It was edible but really nothing that screams out to me as better than a very average average....and at about $30pp I would much rather go somewhere else...
1.75 for the food, and 2 stars for the atmosphere and decor...unless you're in the area of live around here, I wouldn't make the special trip... -

I cant believe more people don't visit this place. It has a great atmosphere, clean bathrooms and the whole restaurant is nicely decorated. The service is great and the food is delicious.

Yet another closed and long gone restaurant to grace our fair burg...the owners (who still have the Thai place up the road open) have had a sign up for months trying to sell this eatery to whoever will take it..unfortunately no takers yet...in the meantime, the dust gathers.....

Came here during the holidays and it wasn't busy at all - a plus! We were seated right away. It's a cute little restaurant in downtown Benicia, my new hometown. We started with the appetizer sampler which was very good. Perhaps my favorite part of the meal. I had the lamb, another excellent choice. We were all pretty happy with the food and service. I'd definitely come again.

Quite tasty fusion and very colorful presentation. Something as simple as the fragrant table water chocked with fruit is a nice addition. The dinners are plated with not only amazingly fresh garnish, but the food itself holds true to some very fresh selections. Maybe a touch bit more expensive than expected, but quite good.

Asian Fusion...It's good for what it is. I think the owner's other restaurant (Sala Thai) is better. It's yummy though, and wouldn't turn it down again.

Asian fusion in Benicia, CA. I was so excited when this place opened and we took my mom there for mother's day. Food was very tasty, a little more pricey than I thought it would be for dinner, but good ambiance and the staff are quite friendly. The first time I ate there I thought the pad thai was the BEST I'd ever had, but the last two times I've been, the noodles were a little overdone. A+ for the crab cake appetizer though, the sauce they drizzle on time with the caviar is scrumptious. Also, when you go there you must visit the bathroom as the floor is a gorgeously painted coy pond. Very unique and cool. All in all, a nice change from the same ol' places in the Vallejo/Benicia area. I'll definitely be back.

Another one bites the dust!! Petals was a wonderful asian fusion restaurant that was the closest to fine dining in the Vallejo/Benecia area that we had! The food was full of flavor and the presentation was amazing! The atmosphere in this quaint, comfortable restaurant brought a little class to our humble town. I will miss this restaurant terribly! Thank goodness Sata Thai is still around, so that at least we can still expereince the culinary expertise of such an impressive chef!

I grew up in Vallejo, and this place might just be the best meal I've had in the Vallejo/Benicia area yet. I was searching for a place to go for mother's day and this place was recommended. they had a special mother's day menu for the occasion (btw, they have a sign up saying that they are now open on Sundays). The filet of sole was excellent, and their organics mixed greens salad was also fantastic. The prices were good, and the service was very friendly. will definitely going back.

Alright, good food in Vallejo, finally! Oh wait, this is in Benicia. Oh well, no surprise.
Petals is a wonderful restaurant. We went on a Tuesday night and it wasn't crowded. I hope it gets crowded on the other nights so that these guys stay in business.
It's Asian fusion, which usually spells death, but in this case certainly did not. I got the sampler appetizer which came with shanghai lumpia that was crisp and not oily -- very good. The salmon poki and sashimi appetizer tasted fresh, though the sashimi had a little too much sauce and drowned the salmon taste. The calamari was decent: fresh enough, but the batter wasn't my favorite.
I also got the salmon dinner. Wow! Salmon was cooked just right. That says alot since most restaurants tend to overcook their salmon so it's dry and flaky. In fact, I hesitate to get cooked salmon; I'd much rather have raw salmon. In this case, however, it was amazing. It came with vegetables which, I swear, tasted like they were picked from the garden and thrown into the pan. Absolutely amazing. It also came with a fried sushi roll which was good too.
As a nice touch, they put a flower on each meal. Hence the name "Petals", I guess.
I can't wait to go back to this place. If you enjoy good food and don't want to go to Napa or SF, then this is a great compromise.
4/5. The only reason I'm not giving a 5/5 is I haven't tried too many dishes and don't know if I just didn't get lucky. -
