Review Highlights
I went in for a bouquet to congratulate my sister on her new job. My sister likes dark colored tulips and Petals had a nice selection of deep purple tulips.
The florist suggested that I add a couple of white baby roses to contrast the dark purple tulips. I bought a bouquet of 12 tulips and and 10 baby rose, and a vase for about $30. The florist poured a couple of pennies into the vase. When I asked why, she told me that the copper in pennies helps keep the tulips standing up rather than wilting over the sides.
My sister loved the bouquet! I often stop by just to smell the flowers, and everyone inside is always friendly.
OMG, Chris was absolutely amazing! I just wanted a small bouquet as a gift and his creation was unbelievable. He truly has an amazing eye for color & texture. He doesn't just throw a bunch of flowers together to sell you, but truly takes his time placing each stem as a painter would concentrate on each stroke of the brush. This is where you come for a truly remarkable piece of art.
Doing business with Petals is one the finest experiences I've ever had. Chris is a very talented floristic artist and he and his staff are a joy to work with. I shared my theme and what I had in mind with Chris and let him use his expertise - the result was Magic!! The flowers for my wedding (bridal bouquet, boutineers, corsages and centerpieces) were exquisite works of art. I will forever be grateful to Chris and his staff for the superb work they did and the beauty they added to my wedding and reception.
A friend just brought me a bouquet of flowers from, where else, Petals! It is so absolutely gorgeous and magnificent. I just love this flower shop.
My friend reminded me that is takes takes a bit of time to get a boquet there and I forgot to say it in my previous review... bring an extra quarter for the meter and allow a bit more time because they don't rush and take time to talk to you about exactly what you have in mind for your flowers. It's totally worth the time. Just plan ahead so you'll have that time!

I heart Petals. My fiance suprised me with a bouquet from them and I loved the arrangement so much now they are doing the flowers for my wedding!
I originally wanted to get flowers from Forget Me Not but it was closed. Then I wanted to go Mystic Gardens and THAT was closed. So I yelped florist while I was driving to find the nearest florist and Petals a Flower sounded like a good place to go. Which it was, don't get me wrong. I called them in advance to make sure they were open and the owner I believe, picked up the phone and he sounded super friendly.
Found parking right away and had to walk in the rain for a good half block.. That's a pretty far walk for me, in the rain, wearing a dress and boots! Chris , the owner, greeted me with a friendly welcome and had asked what I was looking for. A bouquet of flower I answered and he sent his employee Mica (sp..) to help me. He seemed a bit nervous throughout the whole time we were trying to figure out what to pick out. Understandable since it was his first day on the job! He was really friendly and explained all the flowers he had used and picked out and used.
All the flowers at the shop were gorgeous and definitely fresh. He picked out a lot of gorgeous flowers that looked really nice and went well with each other. It took a bit longer then I had expected, I would say a good 30min +. The owner gave in some input which made it look even more gorgeous. While I was waiting, I had noticed the owner finishing up another customers bouquet and thought it was a really well put together bouquet and wish/hope mine turned out just like that. By the time Mica was finishing bunching it up and started to wrap it, I noticed the tissue paper was way longer then the plastic so it was sticking out like crazy. The ribbon used to tie it was not so attractive looking and didn't really make it look any prettier. The bouquet itself was pretty nice but the wrapping just needed a lot of work.
Pricing was wayy too steep for what I got. The bouquet wasn't as big as I thought it would be for what I was paying, $107! I mean, the flowers are nice, but for a small bouquet? $107 was just way too much. At least put on a nice ribbon for that! Besides that, the owner and Mica was very friendly and the place is gorgeous but I probably wouldn't come here again since it's super expensive when I get exactly the same gorgeous, fresh flowers, that's less expensive for the same size bouquet and literally the same types of flowers.
This is the 2nd time I've ordered a corsage and boutonniere for a prom. The flower shop I previously ordered from is longer in business (didn't like what they did anyways). So, I took a chance (didn't Yelp beforehand!) and went into Petals to see what was available. There wasn't a photo album I could thumb thru to make a selection but the salesgirl was so attentive and friendly & told me, "We make really nice corsages, they look really good. Of course, I might be biased." I had a colored picture of the prom dress sent by email to give them to try to match the dress color but expressed that white should be the predominate color.
I was very impressed with how elegant, tasteful and classy the corsage looked when I picked it up today. It had 2 lovely white orchids, white baby roses accented with baby blue belladonnas (my suggestion), delicate fern, thin blue satin ribbon and wrapped with a lovely gray satin ribbon mounted on this gorgeous elastic pearl-like beaded bracelet. ($35)Makes me wish I was going to the prom today!
I was more appreciative of it when I got home and took it out to take pictures. The boutonniere ($15) was a large ivory rose with baby fern, a swig of blue ribbon with the stem painstakingly wrapped with gray satin ribbon with a curled pigtail twist at the end and a little pearlized pin in the center for accent. "A man's" boutonniere was how she described it when I placed the order. Very simple and elegant without the frou-frou. Just lovely, Thank you, Petals! Anyone looking for corsages, this is the place!
Chris and the folks at Petals are always great. They manage to put together arrangements that are tasteful and beautiful and will work within your budget. They manage to make us feel welcome and not rushed every time we go into the shop. They are right next door to Annabelle's Cleaners which is another excellent establishment.
I hope West Portal remains the sleepy little shopping district it is now. It has all of the appeal of a small town nestled in the city!
This is the second year I've been to Petals for Prom corsages.
Chris and his crew are not only florists, they are artists. I love this shop.
The staff is friendly and very reassuring. This year, I walked in and was lucky to talk to Alexa (she's adorable) After describing the color scheme and attempting to recreate the color palate of " a sultry night in Mexico".. she actually wrote it down as the description and said" that says it all..."
I picked up the corsage just a few hours ago and still can't get over it.
It's stunning!!!! I've taken countless pictures. Last week's corsage was equally stunning. The gentlemen who helped me ( I wish i remembered to ask his name) went as far as to spray paint the beaded portion of the wrist-let in antique gold to get "the right feel" I highly recommend this quaint and comfortable store.. You just feel good from the moment you
walk in. Chris is the boss and always there for a "feel-good" hug and inviting smile. Don't pass this one up :o)
It is the best flower shop in town! My boyfried only orders bouquet from them and they deliver (to my office). All my co-workers and even cleints love the flowers and my boyfriend.
The flowers arrangements and colors co-ordinations are so beautiful, so special and the flowers always fresh.
not ur avg floral shop.. amazing variety of flowers, from the exotic to the everyday red rose.. we've picked up some amazing flowers there..
i recommend the white cala lillys, and the stargazers...
Such a cute little flower place, everyone is so very helpful, and they have such a large variety of flowers to pick from, some of the wierdest, yet very beautiful flowers. I was able to get a pretty large amount for $20, so I was pretty happy about that. This place is definately good for people with not much experience at flower picking because of the large variety and helpful staff.
The sign says "Not Just Flowers", but the business cards call it "Petals a Flower Studio", so I'm not sure what to make of that, but anyway... I absolutely love cut flowers, so I make a note of this shop every time I pass by on MUNI. When I finally decided to go in and purchase, I was pleased by the beautiful, well-stocked tables, friendly, very helpful staff and excellent flower selection. This is my new go-to florist in SF.

Let's face it, you can pick-up a generic flower arrangement just about anywhere but if you aim to woo a lover or impress some others with a floral work of art......this is your place. Without fail Christopher has created beautifully unique bouquet and center pieces for me time and time again.
I just had Christopher and his team at Petals do the flower arrangements (bouquets, centerpieces, boutonnieres, etc.) for my wedding and I was ecstatic about the results! In the lead up to the wedding, Christopher always had an open door to talk about the event and we spent hours discussing options. He was very supportive, helpful and willing to work within my budget. Ultimately, I told him to take the general concepts we discussed and use his creativity and inspiration... and I was thrilled with the results when I got my gorgeous bouquets, corsages & boutonnieres delivered to me the afternoon of my wedding. When I showed up at the venue and saw his arrangements there, I was again absolutely thrilled with the beautiful work he had done. Not only were the flowers great, but Chris and crew took a genuine interest in my wedding and were supportive, helpful, and encouraging all along the way. Petals does business with kind of a small town (or neighborhood in this case) attitude-- they get to know their customers, befriend them and take great care of them. Whether it is for a bouquet for your kitchen table or a big event, I would definitely recommend Petals.
