Bouquets are a bit pricey and the shop is small, but Petali is a really lovely place. So calm and wabi-sabi in style, their interior decorator did a great job.
I have never had a bad experience in there as either a browser or a customer.
I bought some lovely and pesticide-free roses for a visiting Blackfoot elder who was giving a presentation at the Div School. I was very pleased with the quality and the price of the roses as well as the advice I received about how to arrange them.
The people working here are friendly, ethereal, and happy to chat about the wonder of plants with me. What more could I want? -

I purchased flowers for my son's girlfriend who attends Leslye College from Petali Flowers for Valentines Day 2011. I contacted John and requested an arrangement based on how what we thought she would like. Even though I love flowers and have ordered them quite frequently, since we live in Texas and I am unfamiliar with this florist I decided to send a follow up email and picture from their website just to be sure. Needless to say, the florists did not deliver. The flower arrangement did not look anything like the order I had requested. The flowers were not fresh and on top of that the florists charged my credit card $25.00 more than I had been quoted. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this florist. Don't allow the beautiful website persuade you!

There are flower shops around every corner, but the quality can vary from mediocre to downright horrid.
Petali offers fresh flowers, decent prices, friendly service, and last but not least an incredibly artful eye for aesthetics. The arrangements I send people from these guys are unusual in the care that's taken in putting them together.
Without a doubt, Petali has become my favorite florist. -

It's ironic that Petali florist, with their prime location right in the front of the Holyoke Center, is for me, one of the hidden gems in Harvard Square.
Petali florist provided the flowers for my DIY wedding arrangements. John was absolutely amazing, giving me tips for arranging the flowers and even threw in a special flower knife! I must mention that he ordered the most gorgeous orchid from Hawai'i for a centerpiece. The other flowers he ordered were vibrant and fresh. I'll never forget the effort he put into my order and will never order flowers from anywhere else in Cambridge again. The staff at Petali Flowers set the gold standard for florists everywhere. -

This is THE go-to florist in Harvard Sq., as far as I'm concerned. I was in charge of picking the holiday arrangements for our big ol' office party and decided to shake things up a little by switching to Petali rather than the usual Harvard Sq. florist (who shall remain unnamed). Man, did they do a great job. Very classy arrangements. Great customer service. John is a super nice guy. They delivered when they said they were going to. Only slightly more expensive than the already cheap alternative we previously used but WELL WORTH IT. The arrangements were way more lovely, bigger, and the pots were wrapped in really nice raffia and paper rather than cheesy green and red foil that usually comes standard.
I was very impressed. -

I had a poor experience using Petali for my wedding flowers. The price was right, but:
1) The flowers showed up several hours late.
2) When we called, it took five minutes to get the owner to understand what wedding we were talking about.
3) Some of the arrangements didn't match my color specifications and were so ugly that I couldn't bear to use them.
I would not work with Petali again. Overall, I found them to be poor communicators. Every time I talked to them, I had to start from scratch; apparently they never took good notes, or else they always lost their notes. That should have warned me off. Looking back, I wish I had just gone to Whole Foods and had them do a custom arrangement for me. The replacements we got there at the last minute were far prettier, cost half as much, and lasted three times as long. -

Where to go for the nicest, prettiest, smelliest (in a good way) place for flowers. Just go to Petali and skip the other flower shop in the square! The people there are so nice and the store is so relaxing, uplifting, and just really nice. I love their selection and arrangement. Plus they are affordable!!

We use Petali at work to do the flower arrangements for our events and they do a wonderful job. The flowers are always fresh and the arrangements are diverse, colorful, and seasonally appropriate. (I really enjoy places that work things like berries and pine cones into their arrangements) They will work with you if you have an idea of what you would like and have many options as far as glass ware goes- low square vases, tall cylindrical vases....you just tell them. The prices for the arrangements are reasonable for what you get.

Working in Harvard Square all these years, I've walked by here approximately 47 million times and it's always drawn me in (sometimes quite literally, with a little path of artfully strewn rose petals) but I've never had the time or the reason to do more than gaze admiringly for a moment and then move on. I unfortunately needed to utilize a florist recently for a friend whose mom had passed away, and Petali lived up to its promise. Service - friendly and fast. You felt like you could linger in the shop and look around (even though it's fairly small) and no one would bother you. The appearance of the place is open, elegant and just plain beautiful. And the product? Well, I was unhelpfully vague (not deliberately, but I always feel like a good florist knows best about what to deliver for the occasion and I don't want to presume to dictate what flowers and colors there should be), and my friend called me to rave about the arrangement with effusive thanks and praise. It was the elegant, tasteful and beautifully sympathetic certain something I'd been unable to articulate, made real.
I will definitely be back. The service and the product here are a guaranteed great gift, pick-me-up, or special treat. -

I used to visit this place when I lived in the area. Recently, having moved away, I ordered flowers for delivery over the phone for my mom. They put together a lovely arrangement (she described as "very classy") that took my rather vague suggestions into account. The staff is super nice, and they really do a beautiful job. Highly recommended.
