Man this location is HUGE!! Very easy to browse and plenty ogf walking space if you are with your dog. Also, the vets were really helpful when i went to the vaccination clinic even though i had to wake up SUPER early on a Saturday but anything for Oreo!
Plenty of parking even though its located in a plaza.
Thank goodness for their wash station! Cuts bathtime and cleanup in half! So in between the groomer, I take my dogs here. The tokens are buy 3 get 1 free, so it comes out to $12 per wash. The wash station comes with an apron, towels, 3 different shampoos, warm rinse, and fan. And alot of folks don't know that you can ask the staff to extend your time just in case you need a few extra minutes--theyre just sooo nice like that! Oh, but remember tthat the wash station closes 30 minutes before storeclosing. The uber friendly & helpful staff also deserve 5 stars!
My dogs love this place (we'll, I like to think they do) as it is conveniently located where we live. It's like a 5 minute drive from our place for this one-stop-shop for everything your pet needs. The best part is the do-it-yourself doggie wash station. After taking our dogs to the beach, we often come here to clean and shower them. This beats cleaning them up in your backyard or in your shower as we all know how back breaking a work that can be. And, you don't have to clean up after it's done.
Our Lab, Maxie had a so-so experience her first time as she didn't know what to do and what to expect. After several visits, she'll gladly hop in the tubs and gets ready for a rinsing. The water is lukewarm so it's comfortable for both the Master and Pet. They have different settings and shampoo selections to your preference. I always go for the Mango scented one as I am biased towards anything tropical. Our Bichon smells like hard boiled eggs as my youngest son recently discovered so this helps to get the smell off.
Amazing how my son was right on about her smelling like hard boiled eggs. So typical, he's always thinking about food. I wonder who he got that from? (guilty)
So back to the scene:
You can buy a token for $15.00 for 25 minutes. That's more that enough time for us and we usually take care of both dogs in that time frame. If you're coming back, I suggest you get the special buy 3 and get one free deal. It's totally worth it and saves you money in the long run.
So after inserting your token, you just simply shower, lather, rinse and blow dry. You can bring your own shampoo and brush as well and towels are provided by the staff. It doesn't hurt to bring extra towels if you have a big dog to dry. You don't have to worry about getting wet as well as matching aprons are also provided for your convenience. They have small and large sized aprons and are both adjustable.
The best part about this place is the staff. They are always friendly and helpful. They will even pass by to give your pets a treat or two. You can tell they are animal lovers and love the work they do. They are very engaging which makes your visit very comfortable and relaxing.
I'll give you a secret...other owners usually takes way less than 25 minutes to shower and dry off their pets. If you get lucky, you can use their remaining minutes to dry off your pets.

This particular Pet Food Express seems to be well stocked for dogs and cats, however the avian section seems to be a bit sparse. Other stores like Petco have more offerings. If you are in need of certain things for your fine feathered friend and close by to this store, you may not be able to find it here. However, the staff is friendly.

Great place for pet food and supplies but the best part is the self-service dog wash. We'd been paying $40 each to have our 2 dogs professionally washed. Now we wash them both ourselves on one $12 token, discounted from $15 when you buy 4. They're only 14 and 16 pounds, but I'd say you could fit up to two 30-pound dogs in the wide, deep sinks. No more paying $80 for someone else to wash them, no more breaking our backs in the bathroom tub, and most of all, no more mopping and cleaning up after!
The Daly City staff is very friendly and helpful. The Market Street staff, not so much. Market also doesn't put enough shampoo in the lines at the wash stations, and in spite of my asking them to, twice, they refuse, with attitude.
Daly City also has a much bigger parking lot. There we wash the dogs, then get some L&L Hawaiian BBQ chicken next door, split a thigh between the dogs to make up for the bath bummer, and a good time is then had by all. That's one of the many great things about dogs: They're all about being here, now.

This is your one stop shop. Sorry Petsmart:( Here are your bullet points:
This is a very cool store!
The staff is very helpful and friendly.
They have a variety of holistic & organic foods for your pet, as well as many fun toys. Toys have a great deal...if you buy 3, they will give you the 4th toy free. How cool is that?
They also have a doggie wash station, $15.00 for 25 minutes, they provide the towels, shampoo & conditioner & blow dryer. I took a peek and it was very clean.
Excellent return policy. If your not satisfied by the products & they are used, they don't care. Return it anyway. Even if you don't like it...I mean if your pet doesn't approve.
A little on the pricey side, but I think its because you are paying for quality products, service, return policy, etc. They offer k-9 advantage & front line & remind you as your paying if you need some more.

Are you a cat or dog slave? Er, I mean a cat or dog owner? Pet Food Express is the place for you!
They have a great discount when you purchase three bags of food, cat litter or toys, you get the fourth one free. I was buying boxes of organic cat litter (nothing but the best for the master, er, pet of the house.) They only had three of the brand I usually buy. The clerk said she'd let me add a bag of food instead seeing as they were about the same price. Service and helpfulness!
There are also some great sales when they're discontinuing something besides the usual sales.
If you visit the Daly City store, be sure and pet Mr. Pickles, the resident kitty. Often you'll see him draped over the computer register, soaking up the heat and admiration of his slaves, er, employees of the store and customers like me.

Great place, love the dog wash area. Sometimes the staff can be a little overbearing and "sales" like, but usually they are very helpful and I am just disoriented since I have a wet puppy cruising the pet store and chasing their cat around....
I find myself in disbelief that this is a chain store. The staff is always wonderful - they make wonderful recommendations and are always friendly to talk to.
They have a pretty good selection of food and the prices are not too bad. I love bringing in my pup because he enjoys picking out his own treat. And speaking of treats, they have a whole lot!
Big chain store with a independent store feel.
*************************UPDATE******************* ******
I had to bring some dog food back because I found out my pup was allergic to it. They were so nice about giving me a refund and making other suggestions to help alleviate my poor pooch's allergy problem. These guys totally ROCK!

I just received my dog's license renewal notice and of course it was due in the next week because usps sucks butt.. i hurriedly searched online to see if there were any mobile vaccination places, and low and behold Pet Food Express (which is less than 15 minutes from my house) had one every saturday 9:30-11:00am. So poor thing got stuck twice.. one for the rabies, and one of the 5 in 1.. :( at least they were gentle and quick. my dog left wagging her tail.. now that wasn't so bad... [didn't mean for that last bit to sound as dirty as it does.]
i tried Petco before and they canceled vaccination services once without notice, not to mention their stupid website calendar was not working anyways...
The staff at Pet Food Express are friendly and even gave my pup a small bag of food. You can tell they actually like the aminals... :D they have attentive staff who make sure you can find what you're looking for.. (even when you're randomly walking around). Location is great, there's plenty of parking, and it's conveniently near starbucks, qcup, albertsons, tk noodle, and L&L..

5 stars for the super friendly staff here and the fact that they always have friendly animals wandering around the store (they are owned by the staff). The little chihuahua sleeping on the counter today was so cute, as is the friendly tabby who oftens follows you around the store. It makes you feel as if the staff really do care about animals.
This is the only store that we know of that sells our cat's dry food (Premium Edge). Its pricey, but we feel safe knowing that the food is not on the recall list and that its healthy for our cat. Luckily though, the store offers a buy three bags get one free, which we took advantage of.
The toy selection for cats is pretty good and we picked up a feather duster-esque toy for him. We also got a grooming brush which he loves.
Overall, a very good pet store, even if it is a chain. Like others have said, the place is also really clean, unlike some other pet stores that I've been to.

Things I like about this place:
Really great staff - friendly and knowledgeable! Everyone who we've encountered there are true animal lovers.
20% discount - given when you adopt a pet. Just bring the adoption paperwork in and you will get 20% off everything that shopping trip.
No animal for sale - only store pets! It also works with local animal shelters/rescue organizations.
Price match - I have been told that if you find better prices elsewhere, those prices will be matched.
Yes, it's a chain, but you're treated like you're shopping at a local store.
Did not get 5 stars because:
Prices are decent but not the cheapest.
Selections are limited, especially for small animals.
Overall, this is a great place to shop for day to day stuff for your pet.

I call this place the doggy car wash. As Kevin says, the staff is super friendly; the store is clean and well organized.
My favorite thing about this place is the do it your self dog wash. They have a room off to the side full of large, elevated bath tubs (with convenient stairs for getting your dog in and out of the tub and restraints that attach to their collars to thwart any escape attempts) for $12 bucks, or $9 each if you buy four washes at a time, you get about 20 minutes of wash/dry time a choice of three different pet shampoos plus two towels and just like that you've got a nice clean puppy with out making a mess in your own bathroom.
My dog and I are regulars here, truly this place is one of the very best in the area for all your pet needs.

I usually don't give these kinds of chains high marks, but I tell ya, the staff are really friendly. Not creepy friendly, but friendly like they really want to help friendly. I still feel better about shopping at independent/local establishments, but when I'm here stuffing my face at L&L or TK . . .

You could eat off these floors! Even with dogs wandering in and peeing on everything this store is surgically clean at all times. It is the cleanest, friendliest, and almost the cheapest pet food store I've ever been in. I think there is new management because this place has really been spruced up. They carry Canidae products at a great price and carry a broad and well-merchandised range of products for pets of all kinds. And they are staffed by super friendly people who lavished attention on Buddy when we wandered in while IQ was taking care of some errands near by. I will make this a regular if out-of-the-way stop, because great pet product stores should be rewarded with good business.
UPDATE: I bought a bag of charcoal doggie biscuits here today (no lie, supposedly they help with tartar) and the very friendly manager on duty told me that if Buddy doesn't like them, I can bring back the remaining portion for a full credit. That rocks.

While the dog-bathing facilities are good, I'm taking off one star because the towels are like thin washcloths and they only give out two (sometimes they'll thrown in additional ones for free, but not always) -- and it's kind of out of the way. However, the staff is friendly and it definitely beats trying to wash your 60-pound dog in the bathtub.
Best Place to wash your dog ..After a day at Fort Funston
Buy more tokens and get the washes cheaper
Also in a great location you can wash your dog, go grocery shopping, eat at L& L or TK Noodle or Filipino Food or Coffee or you get the point you Always find Parking (what more can you ask for)
Cool Staff...always friendly and helpful...
I LOVE this pet store!! My dogs do too! When I first came into this place I was amazed at how many different foods they carry. The staff was very knowledgeable and could answer all of my questions. They are a couple dollars more than some other stores but you can buy 3 bags of their better foods and get a 4th bag completely free. I buy the Prairie brand dog and cat food because of a recommendation of one gentleman there. I asked for a food for allergies and he showed the food to me. Both my pit bulls' skin are now totally cleared up. Thank you so much Daly City staff for making me and my pets so much happier!!

I thought this was another one of "those pet stores." You know, the other ones with nothing your dog really likes to eat?
I was so wrong.
I went in to Pet Food Express on Saturday because Pogi was running low on treats and I was wondering what they had here. I was so surprised to find that they have a fairly good selection of dog treats that dogs really like. (Erm... my dog really likes.) They have Solid Gold, Charlee Bears, Liver Biscotti. They also had the extra stinky kind of bully sticks that the pup loves. I love going to Babies, but this store has most of the stuff that Babies has (minus the uber super trendy stuff of course, and the free goodie treats, which is why I'll still visit Babies to look around.) Pet Food Express is also very deccently priced. The workers here love animals and are always very nice and helpful. As Kevin mentioned it is a very clean store.
They have all the puppy basics that I need at a low price great service. I will definately have to go back to try the "doggie car wash."
the sales staff is always knowledgeable about the products and willing to help me when i don't know what i really want. they're always friendly and durring christmas they gave me a pretty big bag of doggie biscuits as a gift.
