My roommate ran in the Seattle half marathon and a group of us went here for breakfast after. Getting a table for 6 on a Sunday morning was quite the production - it didn't help that half the people who did the marathon seemingly ran straight to Pesos when they crossed the finish line - but we managed it.
I had the garden scramble, which was one of the daily specials and involved asparagus, mushrooms and pepperjack cheese with a side of breakfast potatoes. I was hungry and my food disappeared so fast it was hard to believe I'd ever had it in front of me but damn if that wasn't a good meal. Total for the scramble + coffee was somewhere around $11, which seemed low to me. I know I've enjoyed my food if I think it should cost more!

So I'd heard about some bar/restaurant that is/was involved in some legal action involving another… Read more »
Came in at 5:30 for dinner, hostess says the entire party must be here before we can be seated even though 2 booths were open. Subsequently, multiple parties come in with less than said number of people and gets seated. WTF? Giving the booth to a party of 2 but not to a party of 4? Think about Pesos which has the quicker turn around?
Ended up waiting over an hour (during this time 5 parties of 2 sat _WAY_ before us) because of douche bag clientele loitering about and ended up sitting at the bar.
Hostess and/or policy FAIL.
I went back to my favorite late night, or lunch spot in Queen Anne and was a little disappointed with the "new lunch menu", specifically the sandwiches. I'm not really sure how/why they killed their rockfish poboy, which was incredible.
It looks as if Peso's is changing up their menu for dinner, as well, trying to go more upscale. This is sad as the original formula worked!
The Peso's margarita was still incredibly good and service was interesting. It looks as if they've turned over 100% of the staff and even the hostess was over her head.
I'm dropping my prior 5 star to a 4 star rating, but Peso's may have trouble hanging on to the 4th star.

If only Peso's were in Santa Monica!
What's not to love about Peso's? The awesome carnitas, the late… Read more »
I love this place for the breakfast happy hour. You heard me! Eat and drink in the MORNING for a low low price! Great eggs, even better mimosas! Yum yum yum!
My friends have no idea why I love Peso's and yet it remains true. I just found out recently it is where ex-Greeks and regular Greeks come to ogle each other but I come here to eat good Mexican food in dimly lit quarters.
Supposedly it is known for mingling and having drinks but I really see Peso's as a restaurant that serves food until late. Everything I've eaten here has been delicious: tuna tartare, chicken tortilla soup with avocado, a lovely grilled shrimp salad with mache greens, steak tacos and those addictively thin tortilla chips served with fresh salsa. The sangria here is divine.
I love the wrought iron decorations and flickering candles. I've never come here with a date and wouldn't. It's more for dinner with a girlfriend to people watch. Service has been lacking at times as the waitresses like to wear backless tops and pretend they are cooler than you. Besides that though, I love Peso's for a sit-down Mexican meal in the evening.
I really enjoyed this place. The hotel recommended Peso's, and it was just as good as he said. I went with a small group, and we were seated quickly for a weekend night without a reservation. The bar area was hopping and there is little differentiation between the bar and the regular seating, which actually worked out. I saw some kids here, but I don't know that the very young would enjoy the food, as it was delicious and spicy.
The four of us shared 3 proteins and 2 veg dishes, and we were very full and happy with the choices. We also shared a small pitcher of sangria, and it was one of the better versions I've had, a little spritzy, but I like that.
The only downside, if there is one, is the bathrooms are oddly sized, and there is a lack of an area to sit and wait for a table, but as long as it's not raining or snowing outside, that isn't too big of a deal. I would go again.
My guy has been talking about Pesos Happy Hour forever. One day we got a wild hair and drove down from Wallingford to catch it.
I guess it isn't strange to anyone else that horrible remixes of Rhianna or Chingy are blasting so loudly over the speakers that you can hardly hear the host at the door. The best thing I can say as far as first impressions go is that the interior of the place is pretty. It's dark and loungy. If it weren't for the horrid music blasting from every corner, it would be a quite relaxing place and romantic too.
The service is okay. Since their happy hour is pretty busy, it's first come first serve and you just sit at the first available seat. Once seated, the menu is pretty impressive. Tons and tons of fun apps and dishes priced at just $4 or $5 per order.
We ordered a bunch of stuff and two drinks (there's a one drink minimum I believe) and walked away with a $50 tab, fully satisfied.
The food was good, almost worth having to sit through the tragic music selection. My favorite was definitely the bacon-wrapped prawns. I could eat like a hundred of them.
Met up with a bunch of friedns here the other night. I can't comment much about the crowd but the food was hit and miss. I ordered the Chile Rellenos which is one of my go to Mexican dishes when I can't decide what to get. It wasn't the greatest, kind of runny and the flavors just didn't meld very well for me. The chorizo taco made up for it! Thank god for yummy spicy pork! Overall, not a bad experience. Next time will try their breakfast/brunch which I also hear is pretty good.
If you're the kind of girl who thinks that taking your clothes off for a photo shoot in some guy's living room with his Kodak EasyShare makes you a model, you'll LOVE Pesos.
If you're the guy who offers to take free nude photos of random girls for their "portfolio", you will also LOVE Pesos.
I've been going to Pesos for years. It's the best lazy Sunday hangover breakfast by far.
That lil Pesos flair really makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, or maybe it's those damn boozed-filled super spicy bloody mary's I can't seem to stop pounding down.
Everything I eat there is great grub, that being said, the people that go there are kind of douche bags. And the night-life there is full of major douche-baggery.
I suppose if you're into watching a game and drinking beer and snacking on chips and salsa, kudos. But I'd rather go to a divey sports bar in peace, than sit in there with that crowd.
I was absolutely shocked to find that I actually liked this place. Too many reviews of this place as a meat market was enough to keep me away, but on a Tuesday night at 10pm, there were very few options, so we decided to make a stop.
What's to like? Well if you dig the frat boy scene, then this place is for you. Not for me, but the salsa is a good enough reason to stop by. I don't know why it's so hard to make a good salsa, I mean really, tomatoes, onions, etc. but apparently there are very few places that can pull it off. Pesos is one.
We shared 3 of the small plates they offered. Seared chipotle sesame bites were slightly sweet and the meat very tender. Flautas were crisp and savory with a delicious pico de gallo. We ended up with some sort of cheesy dip that I could've done without, but 2 out of three ain't bad. For drinks I tried the cucumber sage margarita, but couldn't taste too much of either cucumber or sage. Still, not a bad joint to grab a bite late at night.
The Blackened Ahi is amazing. Strong drinks, great decor...one of the best in the city
Disclaimer: I have never actually been here out of a desire to go here. Stopped by quickly to watch the end of the Yankees-Angels game after a show at On the Boards. They get an extra star for playing the game.
The atmosphere was like white middle-class post-graduation sorority girls and fraternity boys pretending to be adults while still spending their parents' money. The bathrooms were trashed with toilet paper and paper towels all over the floors and counters. Yikes! I get the feeling this place is usually a mess.
I hear they have a good brunch and am interested in trying it...but after this night it may be a little while before I venture back.
Had brunch here today - Hands down - Peso's is the best brunch joint when ur hungover. I'm a big believer in the Chicken Fried Steak w/ Jalapeno cornmeal gravy (seriously so good - spicy too). The brunch menu is extensive and everything rocks so you won't be disappointed. They serve Cafe Vita here - which is awesome. They also play cool music while u brunch and it almost feels like your still partying from the night prior. People flock here for a reason. Tip: M-F they have Happy Hour breakfast (All entrees for $6). Not alot of places serve Chips N Salsa for breakfast -regulars know that Peso's is GOOD real Good...
I've been going to Peso's for years and I like the people and atmosphere, but I do not like the food there. I have tried to order things off the menu, but if I add or subtract something from that item it never fails they get it wrong. I'm a picky eater and try not to make my order too complicated, but I will learn to eat before I go to Peso's. I think Peso's is a great place to meet up with friends or watch a football game, although it gets really packed in there.
This place is for rich white kids. I just didn't have a great experience here - wasn't really Tex-Mex, but white people dig it. Looked like a cool trashy place, but the menu prices didn't match up and both food and service were meh.
Was sitting with a large group and even though this was Sunday brunch - they made some other friends trying to join our table leave because they didn't have their ID's. For serious? I know rules is rules, but cmon, we can find better solutions than kicking people out...it was so awkward for the friends who were told to change tables or leave...
I live right by Pesos and have been going there for years. Pesos is a fun place all times of day.
The best thing is their breakfast Happy Hour M-F 9-11am. Most entries are $6. A great value on good food.
Late night it turns into a meat market as the night life scene picks up. Gets a little too crowded usually but always fun.
Food may be better than average bar food (because it is), but in Seattle, this is definitely 3 star food - had their Carne Asada Thursday for lunch and thought it was ok/good, but nothing exceptional.
I'd say it's a solid four or five star spot if you want a good place with happening nightlife and maybe have a few apps, but for lunch, I'll pass. To confirm though - I have to give them credit as one of the best places to go in Seattle on any night that will have a good crowd/vibe.
Amazing coffee. Ok breakfast.
Incredible breakfast and a decent late night spot. 3-Stars because their dinner isn't the greatest and the crowds are fickle.... sometimes cool people, sometimes a bourgeois sardine can. The decor is well done.
One of my favorite restaurants! I stick to the dining side and I LOVE the environment, the decoration, the lighting, and music! But most importantly the food is great! I usually order the carne asada, poblano corn chowder, or steak and arugula salad and for dessert the bread pudding with cinnamon ice cream. Really some of the best food ever, I've gotten so many of my friends hooked on it and one of them is having her birthday party there!
Are you serious? 10$ for a taco plate that comes with 2 tacos? 5$ for a small bowl of tortilla soup with 3 pieces of rehydrated chicken breast and 4 tortilla strips? There's a Taco Bell around the corner that's more bang for the buck. Plus, if you want real Mexican/Tex-Mex food in Seattle, you'll go to Tacos El Asadero down on Rainier.
As an aside, horrible Saturday morning service - waitress was hungover and looked like she needed the coffee.
I still love Peso's. The carne asada is sinfully delicious and their salsa is absolute money.
I've also noticed that they have an incredibly high ratio of WGWAs, or "white girl with @$$". Not sure how they do it, but Seattle has some how amassed a solid tribe of curvaceous Caucasian women. If this was in LA I'd say implants for sure, but I've learned not to question it. I'm just thankful that I don't have to stare at a breakfast buffet of pancake butt when I come here.

As far as what passes for mexican food in Seattle this place is par for the course. It looks like the bar is hopping even at lunch time. I bet the food is better after a few beers. Since I can't drink at lunch... It's abou the only mexican food within walking distance of my office so it'll do for the very occasional lunch.
Great happy hour, good eats and pretty waitstaff.
From all the reviews on Yelp I was ready to go in and throw it down with some snobby waitresses. What I found at 12 noon, was a lovely waitress who really couldn't have been any nicer, a shrimp quesidilla that knocked my socks off and a lovely booth to sit in with my best friend from San Francisco, where we chatted, drank coffee, giggled and enjoyed our yummy lunches. Perhaps they have fired the other waitresses and hired nice one's. YAY!
Screw it...the staff is a little "I'm too sexy for this job" and the 10 o'clock every-f&%in-night frat-party is retardo, but the food is OUT OF CONTROL.
The carne asada is perfection here (and I have it at every restaurant that'll let me) and the chips and salsa are hand delivered by Aztec Gods.
I wouldn't care if this place sponsored keg parties outside my apartment window and had a wait-staff consisting soley of my ex-girlfriends...I would still go and get me some Pesos.
Be careful when ordering drinks, tho (orange juice, coffee and cokes especially!), because that's how they get you.
I don't hate Peso's, but I don't love it either. I'd been before for drinks and found it a little belltowny, a litte too meat market-y for me, though their margaritas were strong and delicious. It's just not really my type of bar, in general.
I went again this week after a show when some friends wanted to go somewhere that served food, and was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the quesadilla was. I wouldn't choose this place ordinarily, but it was fine and the service was friendly. I'm pretty sure, however, that the uniform consists of black shirt, black pants, and no bra--appreciated by the man in our party, but unprofessional in my opinion. The place looks nice on the inside, and isn't Hooters... is it?
I love going to Peso's morning, noon, and night. I don't actually go there that often, but what I mean is that I enjoy the place whenever I go - not just for breakfast/brunch, which is what I keep reading on here from other people.
You go in the morning for breakfast/brunch, and you get an incredibly tasty meal. I would highly recommend the crab benny by the way.... yum yum. :)
You go in the evening for dinner and drinks or just drinks, you still get incredibly tasty food - and a fun crowd to hang with to boot. If you haven't tried their Carne Asada yet, you seriously don't know what you're missing. The best I've ever had; and the mashed taters and sauteed green beans are a delicious compliment to the meat!
As for pretty much everyone compaining about the douche-bag crowd - get over it. I'm sorry, but you find douche-bags no matter where you go after a certain hour. If you're a girl and they hit on you, take it as a compliment, laugh off their advances (in a cute, friendly way), and continue enjoying yourself. I've always gotten 'good' service there - sometimes better ('great') - but I'm also not intimidated by attractive women, so I'm always pleasant and friendly with the waitresses. They must like that, because I always get served promptly and with a smile.
Love Peso's. Frequent often. Will go back. Again. :)
I go here often. Always have a good time with my friends. The service is always good and friendly if you are not going up to the bar. I usually go on Sundays and weeknights for the happy hour. Some of my favorite tacos in town. It's a bar with decent food... What do you expect?
Wish they would improve the bathroom.
Came here with some friends during the KEXP BBQ. The BBQ only offered PBR and Pinot Grigio so we headed to Pesos for some happy hour eats. I had always been curious about this place because it looked like it was decorated really cool. Turns out I was right. The inside has a lot of great iron and woodwork, and they keep it kinda dim inside so that makes it feel a bit mysterious.
The four of us bellied up to the bar since all the tables were taken. I got a regular margarita and it was good. Then I got a prickly pear margarita which was even better. They have a $5/$6 happy hour menu so I ordered the prawn salad which was $6. It ended up being really good, I was actually surprised. There was a perfect amount of tangy dressing and it was topped off with some very fresh avocado and tomato. Everyone else in my party got ahi tacos and they looked tasty also.
I had a good experience here but I just can't get down with the atmosphere of this place. It seems like a somewhere that hip, beautiful people go to to mingle and that's not my scene. I wouldn't rule out coming here again though, I'd love to have another prawn salad.
Since I've been in Seattle (I'm on vacation) I've been to Pesos twice. Its a decent place. The food is good and the atmosphere is ok. The prices are a high. The first day I ordered eggs benedict with bacon on an english muffin. The food was great. Pesos has a special where between Mon-Fri from 11am-4pm (I believe), most breakfast entree's cost no more than $6. Not a bad offer but orange juice is so darn expensive. A really small glass of oj is $3. I can get a half gallon for that price.
I went back there today and ordered the caramel french toast and had to pay extra for eggs and bacon. The breakfast was good and plenty. I chose to have the caramel on the side because I wasnt sure how sweet it would be. I ended up pouring just a little bit of caramel and it was enough for me. Anyways, its a good place to try out but be aware it is pricey.
This place was slamming when we arrived for bunch, but we did get seated quickly. The crowd skews to local, randy twenty-somethings but I saw plenty of (randy) families and tourists, too. People watching was just okay, and though loud, it's tolerable at lunchtime.
Our chips and salsa was shockingly spicy and very pleasing. It's no habanero but it was way spicier then most default salsa I've had before. My crimini mushroom and asparagus scramble had fresh herbs and wasn't utterly smothered in cheese, thank god. This place is awesome if you can stand a little noise and a moderate amount of meat heads pregaming before the next hazing session.
After watching some Shakespeare we decided Mexican food would be a good follow up. Othello takes place in Guadalajara, right??
I was pretty surprised it was so crowded! It was 11 or so at night on a Tuesday and it was pretty packed. While we waited by the front door, some douche bumped into me and shoved his ID in my face. Uhh... whaaaaaaat? I can only assume he thought I worked here and was the doorman/bouncer? Hahahaha. Why even bother showing me his ID when he only flashed it.... I couldn't even tell what state it was from....
Anywho, we snagged a table and looked over the menu. it was Happy Hour. It made me happy =) I ordered a Cucumber, Sage Margarita because it sounded interesting.... and it was. I'm not sure if I'd ever order another one, but I enjoyed it. Very unique and flavorful and while the cucumber did make it light and refreshing, the strong sage after taste made it sort of heavy.
For food we had the Nachos, Halibut Tacos, Seared Ahi and Crab and Avocado Spring Rolls. The Crab and Avocado Spring Rolls was my favorite. Full of crab and Avocado, freshly fried, perfectly crispy and hot. Yummmm. I have no idea what the brownish sauce that was served with it was, but it was yummy. The Seared Ahi was cooked well, extremely tender, and was served on a "creamed corn sauce" (so said our server). I'm not at all used to Tex-Mex style Ahi, but it was yummy. The Nachos were fine as were the tacos. Forgettable, but fine.
The prices were good for the quality of food and service was pretty darn attentive.... my water glass was always full and I was crazy thirsty that night. My one complaint (and this will make me sound really old) is that the music was really loud. Like club loud, except no one was dancing. I don't understand why it was so loud! Loud music aside, it was a fun time!
This is a tricky one. If I could... I'd give Peso's a 5 and a 0.
5 stars for the food. 0 for the atmosphere.
If you love brunch- go early. If you hate the frat scene- go early.
At all other times- just stay away.
It's really too bad the iron work on the outside is so beautiful, and the location is great. I am just confused why this establishment turns into a meat market. It's Queen Anne for christ sakes! Not Belltown. weird.
As part of the under 21 set, I've only been to Peso's for brunch. Been there a few times, and EVERY time I've gone with the crab eggs benedict with chipotle hollandaise---worth two stars in itself! The avocado/crab combo is yummy and the hollandaise is unique with the chipotle spice.
The service is really bad, however, and I'm either not greeted upon entering, standing there waiting to be acknowledged, not given refills on my water, or some sort of combination of the three (and then some).
I guess another star-worthy aspect is the music selection. First visit: Katchafire! Second visit: John Legend! This made for a cool atmosphere that at least let me sing along while waiting in some sort of capacity either to be seated or served.
All in all, it's okay there. I'd say the food is worth a try but the service is always an issue--- don't tip!
In the words of Rachael Ray yummo. Love this place the atmosphere is great it is loud but who cares it is only loud because everyone loves it! The food is awesome and drinks are great - Rock on Happy Hour!
Went here last Friday for the breakfast happy hour. That's right. You heard me correctly. Can you believe that there's a BREAKFAST HH? How awesome is that? $6 on all breakfast plates. Too bad it's only available M-F until 11am.
Apparently, we weren't the only one that realized that we could take advantage of having July 3rd off and make it down There for AM happy hour. By the time we got there at 10:30, there was already a waitlist. We were sure we wouldn't get a table in time before HH is over but thanks to our kind waitress, we were able to put our orders in right at 11 AM. Sweet deal! And props to the waitress in the bar area.
Anyways, about the food. I had the crab benedict which was pretty good. They give you a lot of fresh crab meats. The eggs and the hollandaise sauce were OK...I've been spoiled by really good egg benedicts so it's hard for me to compare. My 3 other friends all enjoyed their dishes as well.
True to the HH spirit, they serve mimosa and Bloody Mary. Since it was the weekend of the 4th of July...I knew I had to save room in my liver for the celebration...so I guess I'll have to try their Bloody Mary next time.
Here's the breakdown. 4 stars for the food, and the breakfast happy hour, and 2 stars for the service. I give it a 3.
I took my wife here for dinner and drinks on our first date, so we still keep coming back, but now it's usually for the weekday breakfast happy hour. The food here is innovative and most of it is superb.
Just don't expect your waitress to care about you or remeber you are sitting there. I've been here when they were packed for dinner, and when theyve been slow on a weekday for breakfast and the service was about the same either way.
The breakfast here is simply DELICIOUS. From 9 - 11am is the breakfast happy hour where dishes are only $6 ($9 for breakfast dishes with seafood). I came here with a group of 6 and everything we got was so good!
I got the classic benedict with ham and my boy got their most popular dish, the chicken-fried steak. Everything had a mexican twist to it and all of our dishes (except the french toast) came with picco de gallo, which tastes SO fresh. The hash brown potatoes here are nearly perfect. Nicely seasoned and slightly crisp!
Portions are extremely generous and we even had leftovers! I HIGHLY recommend this place for breakfast! One of the best places in Seattle along with 4th Street Grill (but um it's technically in Renton, haha)
I'd try and come early to beat the crowd. When we got to the restaurant at 8:54 there was a line of people waiting outside (but we were able to get a seat just fine) and when we left, there was still a line!
