There are plenty of good anchor stores here and if you ignore the fact that whoever designed the parking lot intended on burning a lot of your gas while you were stuck on idle in the parking lot trying to get out, then this is a good place to do your indoor shopping in Atlanta.
But on Friday morning when no one else is there? This place is fantastic. Easy in and out and the opportunity to get my dress socks at Nordstrom* and completely shock the woman at the counter who didn't expect anyone to make a 1200 mile journey for socks.
There's plenty of other good stores, and a food court that contains both a Chik-Fil-A and a Dairy Queen, but an over reliance on those booths in the middle of the concourses does make it kind of annoying to walk by when no one else is there and you're guaranteed to be accosted just trying to walk to where you're going.
Combine that with that thing that only Southern places do where the air conditioning is always perfect and all-encompassing while you're indoors and Perimeter Mall is a good place to do your mall shopping in Atlanta.
* - True story: all my dress socks come from Nordstrom, despite there not being a store anywhere near anywhere I've lived in the last ten years. Those socks really last.
Nice mall - sorta reminds me of the La Cantera mall here in S.A. in terms of the level of stores and anchors available (like Coach and Nordstrom). As a matter of fact, I did my research and they are both part of General Growth Properties... interesting.
Anyhow, my only complaint was this one chick who was working at one of the kiosks for hair straighteners and noticed my babygirl's hair was chemically straightened. She kept calling and calling for us like there was no tomorrow. I politely told her no the first time. And again, a second time. And again. And finally I was about 20 feet or so away from her and yelled "HELL NO". She just smiled even after that. She must've been on something...
Other than that, nice place though. =)
Good store choices, just not Feng Shui. This mall parking and trying to get in or out can be a pain especially during lunchtime. The Macy's is really good.
The food court has a great selection from roll type sandwiches to cheesesteaks.
There is a Cheesecake Factory here and mmmm good. This location is significantly smaller than the uptown Atlanta location.
A plus you can valet.
This mall is beautiful at night. Sparkly lights and shiny window displays. There is a good selection of stores here as well. Enjoyed shopping here, and dining here as there were a lot of places to grab a quick bite as well. Not as "hip" as Lenox Mall but shop worthy none the less.
Checking the place out on a one night visit for work. Nice And clean with several Stores you would expect to see at a higher end mall including Lacoste and Bloomingdales. Food court is gigantic.
"There are a lot of pretentious people here", said my wife as we went through Nordstrom in this mall. Indeed, there were. She was referring to some of the bluehaired old people, though. You know, the people who had parents fight in the Civil War and who are part of the "old money" society prevelent in neighboring Buckhead. Other than them though, I didn't feel it was much different than any other suburban mall.
We went to both Lenox Square and this mall, and I'd say this mall is much more functional. By that, I mean they don't litter it with pointless stores like Burberry or Neiman Marcus. Who can afford that crap anyway? I giggle every time I hear that high-end retailers like that are having problems in this economy. As if a pair of shoes is really ever worth 500 bucks. Pfft.
We didn't walk out with much, but if the deals the stores were running were better, we could have. The mall itself is rather large and could sponge up a few hours of a person's time....but for us, we're pretty quick shoppers and took 90 minutes at most.
The traffic situation wasn't bad, either. I've seen complaints about it but I've definitely seen worse (think: Lenox Square).
I hate malls. That's probably the only real reason that Perimeter Mall isn't getting 5 stars from me. Well, that and the fact that there used to be a guy at the "Seacret" cart who accosted me and would not take "no" for an answer every time I tried to go to the MAC store. NO MEANS NO, creepy Israeli beauty product guy!
Perimeter Mall has a good mix of stores, from teenybopper clothing and cheap-jewelry joints to higher-end places (like Nordstrom's) and your average mall chains. There aren't lower-end rednecky places like Sears, but it's not the most pretentious mall in the Atlanta area either (Phipps, I'm looking at you). And it doesn't have the same trying-too-hard-to-be-upscale feeling that Lenox has had ever since it was renovated in the 90's.
Also, there are TONS of places to eat nearby. Most of them are chains, but at least they are good chain restaurants. And if you really want to shop at someplace like Wal-Mart or Target, those are nearby as well.
The parking situation used to be awful, but ever since the parking deck was built, it is much better than at comparable malls. It's also convenient to get to this mall because there is a MARTA station right there. Just be sure to lock your car and not leave any valuables in plain sight... I hear that car break-ins have increased within the past few years.
If North Point Mall and Phipps Plaza got married and had kids, they would look like Perimeter Mall. We're talking a good selection of everyday stuff (Macys/Dillards), mixed with a touch of hoity toity (Nordstroms), yet missing the trailer park (Sears and JC Penny).
Pros:
- Good mix of shops. My wife likes places like J Jill that you can't find in normal malls.
- Above average food court (I miss Kamel's cafe though)
- Great variety of out parcel restaurants
- Parking deck
- MARTA access
Cons:
- Traffic
- Traffic
- Traffic
I use to hate this mall, that's probably because I use to work in this area & while I was trying to go back and forth from work or lunch the shoppers and stay at home mom's were out in full force slowing me down. Now I don't mind it so much. it's a mixture of upscale and low budget. The stores: Bloomingdale's, Dillard's & Nordstroms are upscale. The food court, creepy pushy kiosk salespeople definitely low rent. In this mall you will definitely find a cross mix of just about everyone: Annoying teenagers, rich old blue hairs & the fashionistas. But all in all with Marta close by and Godiva chocolates how can it be wrong?
My new favorite shopping destination in Atlanta. Perimeter Mall has all my favorites like Aldo, New York & Company, Express, XXI Forever, Arden B, L'Occitane, bebe and more. It also has a great selection of department store - Macy's, Dillards, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's.
What I love most about the mall is that people actually come here to shop and not parade around like they're in a fashion show (cough*cough*Lenox Mall*cough*cough). All sorts of people come to shop here, young and old. Like any mall in Atlanta, it can get crowded, so my favorite times to go are on weeknights or Sunday afternoons.
This is my favorite mall in Atlanta. The anchor stores at this mall provide a variety of price points. From more upscale (Nordstrom and arguably Bloomie's) to more moderate (Macy's and Dillards) there really is something for every budget.
The variety of speciality stores is also great. You have some standards (Banana Republic, GAP, Bath and Body Works) but also some stores you can't find at other malls in Atlanta (Sur La Table, J.Jill, J. Crew). I also like that there is plenty of surface parking and additional parking in the parking deck between Nordstrom and Macy's.
The food court is a little bizarre. You have to walk directly through it to get from one end of the mall to the other if on the lower level. Some food marketing guy probably came up with this idea. Not the most convenient for shoppers, particularly during the crazy holiday season, but it can easily be avoided by going across on the upper level.
This mall is just convenient, since it's closes to where I live. The parking can be hell during lunch time or on the weekends, when parking is very hard to come by. Overall, it has the stores that I generally shop. It's not one of the best malls in Atlanta, but it's decent.
This is a great mall, with solid stores Like Banana Republic, Gap, Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, Macys, and a whole lot more. I like the fact the Mall is at a great location near the 285 fwy.. quick in and out shopping.. (well I am a woman..so it might no be so quick:).. This place is not as High end as Phipps or Lenox.. but they have some great timeless solid stores.. and they have Anthropology!
I like the way the mall is designed, it's easy to walk around, and not feel cramped.. but then maybe it's because I came on a weekday when there is not a HUGE crowd.
Oh they also Have a Maggiano's Restaurant near this mall..and I am a Huge Fan of their stuff mushroom..but that will be another review:)
My favorite mall in the area. It's in a convenient location, next to other shopping including my favorite Wal-Mart and Super Target. This mall has everything you need and ample parking. It's not too bougie and not too hood, there are very few children unless they're in a stroller. You've got Nordstrom and Bloomingdales if you can afford it, but I go there for Dillards, Macy's, XXI, Express, The Limited, and the NY & Co. with the best selection. They also have Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft, an Apple Store, Starbucks of course, Guess, Bebe, Zara, MAC Cosmetics (the only one where you can get a lipgloss, lipstick, or eyeshadow in exchange for empty makeup container recycling) and plenty of shoe stores. And don't forget the restaurants outside the mall including Cheesecake Factory and Maggiano's. I say forget bougie Lenox with all those diva attitudes and head to Perimeter Mall where everyone can feel comfortable.
Seriously, this one of my favorite shopping destinations in Atlanta. My office is steps away, they have great restaurants, I like their food court (with Wi-Fi access), their parking deck is easily accessible, and I can get everything I'm looking for here.
The main reason why this is my top choice is because I feel like I can actually "shop" here. As in, I'm not being hurried out of a store, hassled by huge crowds, and I can find a sales associate who will take time to help me. Yes, traffic can get pretty bad, especially around the holidays. Fortunately they have planned a pretty smooth traffic flow down Ashford Dunwoody Rd. and the GDOT extended Perimeter Center Pkwy. over I-285 to help carry more traffic away from already congested areas.
See you in the food court! Yum...
If I must go to a mall in the Atlanta area, this is usually the one I go to. The mall isn't packed out with wanna be rap stars and Westminster school girls like Lenox, and it's much less suburban than North Point.
There's a Bloomingdales, Macy's, Nordstrom and Dillard. Specialty stores are usually larger than in Lenox because the mall is a bit bigger. It doesn't seem that way when you first walk through it, but it twists and turns much more than you'd expect. They've got a great Anthropologie, a big MAC makeup store, Apple store, Sephora, and other smaller specialty stores.
Again, not a big fan of malls in general, but if I need one stop shopping, this is the place I usually go.
To my understanding, Perimeter Mall is one of Atlanta's best for all around for both high end and low end shopping. With my limited experience in Atlanta in general, I must say that the bar is set for all future shopping excursions in this city after my visit here.
Just from first glance, this mall looks enormous. This also means there are a ton of parking spots, but I gather it would be a traffic nightmare here if there is a huge sale going on in one of the main department stores like the massive Macy's on the west end and a Dillard's on the east. There is also a Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's on the north end as well. Beyond that there are some good stores here for just about anything and more importantly the selection is vast, perfect for the shopper on a mission and an open mind.
Not only is Perimeter mall big, its also clean and well maintained. The public men's restrooms are typically atrocious in most malls I've been in but not this one. Everything was clean from the benches to the non-fingerprints on the door handles. Maybe I just came right after a cleaning.
The food court also seemed quite nice and semi crowded but thankfully there were enough seats for most folks to sit down. This is a prime people watching area and a great place to sit down for a breather before burning off the food in an effort to get around this massive mall.
I love XXI. There. I SAID IT. Now that it's out in the open... the one in Perimeter is probably the best/biggest in the state. It still doesn't compare to the massive ones that take at least 6 hours to rummage through in FLAUSA, but I digress... anyway, I love Perimeter. Though, when you work less than a half mile away, it can get dangerous.
Because of the location of my office across the street from Perimeter Mall I am in this suburban nightmare several times a week. It's not a great mall, but I've seen a lot worse.
The mall is small, and the stores don't seem to have the selection of their counterparts at Lenox. The customers are more boring, too.
The proximity of Marist down the street means there are always young girls in Catholic Schoolgirl garb roaming the place in giggly groups. And lots of harried soccer moms with enormous behinds zooming their screaming toddlers around in strollers (they WILL run over your feet and not stop to apologize).
I think the food court really blows. There are lots of non descriptive food stalls, but at least there aren't too many sample people in your face as you walk through.
All in all, it serves it's purpose in a very boring bland traffic congested whitebread kinda way that's in no way offensive. Around the holidays avoid this place like your life depends on it. The traffic will make your head explode and it will take you HOURS to get out/in of the place.
I enjoy this mall even when i am just walking around looking. I love the Macy's and Dillard's. I like that they have a bare mineral store that i can by all my makeup with out having to order to online. The food court has my favorites in them (Diary Queen, Panda Express). I only go on the weekday where the parking is plentiful and the crowds are small.
I'm gonna go ahead and give Perimeter Mall the NAW. Yeah, it's a nicer mall than most malls, especially nowadays, when malls seem to have sunken even deeper into the craphole and become more just lairs of bored kids and old women. Perimeter is a bit higher class for sure: you don't feel covered in grime, or the sweat of years of goth kids hanging in the air.
Still, Perimeter is freaking tiny. At a full sprint you could probably cover its entire gamut in under four minutes. In fact, that's a wager I'm willing to take. Interested betting parties please contact. I will run from end to end to end of Perimeter Mall in four minutes. Let's go.
Anyhow. the food court here is a little higher class too. A high class food court? Yeah, not really. But it feels cleaner and not so gunky.
I'm reading the list of stores they have here that other people have posted. All the stores here seem a blur. I remember Nordstrom's and J Crew and one of those token CD stores where everything costs twice what it would anywhere else. Do people actually buy CDs from those places?
Do people still go to malls? If so, this one's okay, just really small and kind of in the middle of nowhere.
The now glamorous suburban mall is full of high end shops and is always renovating to fit the most modern trends.
This is where I used to come with my 7th grade girl friends to get away from our mother's and shop for shimmery lip glosses and high heels - oh the memories.
Now, it offers valet service in the front, a piano player at Nordstrom's during the weekend sales, and high-end restaurants like Goldfish out front.
Warning: Traffic is ridiculous!
This mall just happens to be my favorite in the entire Atlanta metro area. It has a great mix of upscale stores and normal, lower scale stores for a variety of shoppers. Fortunately, it doesn't smell strange or have snotty people stomping around like they own the freaking place. I like the way it is set up because one side of the mall is brighter and shinier while the other is a bit more contemporary and darker. Overall, it's a great place to shop with plenty of clothing stores and a great food court.
Remarkable, accessible, family friendly and not a fashion show like Lenox Square could only illustrate Perimeter Mall. In the heart of the Dunwoody in the perimeter, Perimeter Mall has an array of stores for everyone from the struggling college student to the big spender. Flagship stores at Perimeter Mall are Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, Macy's and Dillard's. Macy's Furniture, Crate & Barrel, Bombay Company Nine West, Claire's, The Gap, Limited Express, Know Style, NY & Company, Victoria's Secret, Level X, Aveda Salon, Sephora, The Body Shop, Limited Too, Yankee Candle, Guess, Lacoste, Cathy Jean, Timberland, Aldo, Aerosoles, Abercrombie, Fourth & Towne, Godiva and Pet Set are just some of the other stores in Perimeter Mall.
I love that Perimeter Mall is surrounded by Super Wal-Mart, Super Target, Perimeter Place and other shopping centers. Furthermore, this suburban oasis is easily accessible to I-285, Georgia 400 and Marta. After shopping until you drop there are plenty of area restaurants to choose from at the mall consisting of Maggiano's Little Italy, PF Chang's, Cheesecake Factory, American Cafe and the food court.
Plan a day and shop at Perimeter Mall. Typically, regardless of the store, consumers have a better chance finding shoe and clothing sizes as the clothing stores carry large quantities. For hours and the store directory go to http://www.perimeterma....
My favorite mall!! Even when it's crowded. Compared to the mall that is closest to me (Southlake), any other mall is to die for!!! No complaints from me about Perimeter Mall.
I like Perimeter mall because it is much more easier to navigate than Lenox. Also, it has Nordstrom, Johnston & Murphy and Stuart Weitzman!!!! Oh and Sephora. Traffic can get pretty bad though.
This shopping mall may seem a little out of range, but worth it if you want to shop without all of the "extra" stuff that goes on at Lenox and Phipps, like valet parking. You can get in and get out without much of a hassle as this mall has what seems like millions of parking spaces.
I like to check out the Macy's here because it also has a furniture store. This is also the best mall food court in Atlanta if you ask me. It's clean and each eatery has something unique to offer. I can go to Express and this is one of the few malls in Atlanta that has a rather large NY & Company, which is one of my favorite stores.
Around the mall you will also find some notable restaurants and other shopping stops, like Old Navy across the street.
I am giving this mall 5 stars because it's the best mall, in my humble opinion, in the metro Atlanta area. Sure, Lenox has Urban Outfitters, and.....um..... the Crate and Barrel in Lenox has a furniture store, but... ummm....yeah.
There will be an Urban Outfitters (not that I can ever find anything I like there) off of Ponce pretty soon, so I feel no real need to go to Lenox again and deal with the crazy traffic and thugs walking slower than turtles.
Perimeter mall has the best food court, and a great array of stores. The traffic around the mall is eh, but compared to Lenox it's a breeze. It's a lovely, fairly newly renovated mall ( I worked there when they added all the new stuff to it) that has a lot of the stores I can afford. Good deal. If you want to avoid Lenox but you are dying to see the new stuff Anthropologie has out, check this mall.
This is my spot man!!! I am a mall junkie cause the ladies frquent there on the weekends and what better place for a ladies man?? Really though, this mall is whatz up to me because it's close to my crib and the people aren't all snobby like Lenox. But the main reason is because it is busy but never too busy to where you can't find parking or walk around comfortably.
Very nice mall. Would like a few more upscale shops though (it would be nice to get a louis vuotton to add some panache). This is a good choice for most shopping.
Perimeter Mall is definitely my favorite mall of them all, lol. It is pretty easy to cruise in, park, and get into the stores fairly quick (not during holiday time). Growing up in the Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area I have seen this mall go through many changes. In fact, I remember as a kid going there and right where Home Expo and Best Buy is, there use to be a farm with cows! They have really upgraded everything at the mall, the front end, stores, even the anchor stores that have been added are very nice and convenient to get in and out of as well! I have noticed more of the Lenox type thugs wondering aimlessly around perimeter since the addition of marta. The other nice thing is the new paid parking section up front, which should keep the cruising crowds to a minimum trying to get the front parking space, and instead making use of the parking decks. This also gives the restaurants up front more available parking for their patrons. Anyways, thats my view on Perimeter Mall and I hope it stays nice as it is for years to come!
