Pretty yummy Mexican food and awesome margaritas found on a slightly quiet stretch of Bandera Road. The waiters and bartenders are super nice, helpful and attentive and management is always present and making sure that things are up to the guests' expectations.
They have a patio with limited seating that features live music on some nights. It's a great spot to get together with a group of friends for an extended dinner. You may have to wait for a while during busier times, but you can always grab a drink at the bar to help pass the time.
I went to Pericos with some friends. The first thing we noticed when we got out of the car was the area around Pericos smelled like poop! I dont know what it is, but ask anyone ... and they'll say the same thing! After waiting over an hour for a table (we should have gone down the street to Papa Nacho) we got sat down at our crap table in the middle of this ugly restaurant. Our waitress was less than pleased to have another table. My husband and I are vegetarians and asked in the beans were also vegetarian- this is what we were told, "oh, no ... we only have vegetarian beans friday night ... tonight's saturday" then she walked away. No, well you can get this ... or anything. We ended up getting this gross veggie thing- where it was all bell peppers. The whole evening was a bust- the only good thing about the night was the company.
Oh, plus the margaritas were crap!
Awesome food. The only thing i hate is the wait. I went here twice and both times i had to wait 40 minutes but other than that the food and the service is awesome. I absolutely love the margaritas here and to whoever thinks this plays smells like poop. no it doesnt at least to me it didnt. You should go and give this place a try
I came here with my family of 9 to celebrate my husband's birthday (the big 3-0). We had to wait a few minutes for them to put the tables together, but no big deal the waiting area is huge and the bar was nice. We were sat pretty quickly since it wasn't busy and we all immediately started catching up. Our waiter was great, he never seemed impatient or pushy. We got some margaritas (really good-strong, but not overwhelming) and chips and salsa while we looked over our menus. Okay, I want to pause here to talk about the salsa. It came to the table hot, which is interesting as it added a little something extra, and it was spicy. Excellent. Anyway, every single person at the table loved their meals, even the three kids, now that's saying something. The food was great! My favorite part of the evening was when the waitstaff brought out a huge sombrero and forced my husband to wear it while they sang happy birthday to him. The sopapillas they brought out for him were nice and flaky (okay, I ate most of them) and the bill ended up being under $150. Nice experience, but I deducted a star because of the close proximity to the tables around us. I could hear Carol and Ginger's whole conversation at the table next to us.
This spin-off from the Panchitos restaurants is absolutely wonderful. I love the ambiance, the employees (always gracious) and the food is awesome! Sometimes they have specials such as fajita for two at about $10 and margarita specials... mmmm! Muy bien! They have a LOT to choose from on their menu - which I typically take that as a sign that a restaurant probably won't have any ONE great dish but this place proves that wrong!! Each dish is more delicious than the next... beef empanadas, tacos el carbon, steak tampiquena. And their charro beans are SO YUMMY!
