Review for the new Tuscany Tower hotel suites
and the Spa/Salon

I got a suite in the Tuscany Tower, and the room was great! All they had left were smoking rooms, and even then it was amazing. The beds were so comfortable, there was a nice big TV in the room, as well as in the bathroom. The bathroom had an air jacuzzi tub that self-cleans, and also a shower with two nice shower heads. All the lighting is adjustable so you can dim it to any level of brightness you want. The customer service is great. I had a delivery waiting for me, and they delivered it up to my room within minutes of getting up there. I had a room on the 16th floor facing the pool, which was very beautiful, especially at night. I got the room for my birthday weekend, and it was just really comfortable :)

I went to the Spa Tuscana the next morning, and had a "wine down massage" and a "vino facial" (I believe those are the names of what I got). The spa is really nice and totally comforting. They have a lounge area for when you are waiting for your next treatment, with complementary snacks and water/juice. It seems like a really large spa, with an elevator to get to the different levels. You get a robe and shoes, and a locker to keep your things in. Each room that I had my treatments done in were very clean, and relaxing. The treatments themselves were amazing, and the employees were very nice and professional. Definitely a place to go if you want to really indulge yourself in the pleasures they offer. It is expensive, but totally worth it every once in a while.

This review is specifically for the new spa/salon in the Peppermill.

I went for a pedicure over the weekend and had a truly happy experience.  Although I was unable to take advantage of it due to time constraints, whatever service you choose (i.e. pedicure, facial, etc.) allows you all day access to the spa, including the pool, jacuzzi, sauna, showers, relaxation room, and more).  I will definitely make the time for that with my next appointment!  The pedicure was well done and thorough; the chairs were comfortable and there was t.v. with soothing scenes of Hawaii and Italy playing or you can opt to listen to music on Bose headphones while your chair "rhythms" to the beat of the music.
The Peppermill has done a great job with decor of this spa...I had been very anxious to check it out and was extremely pleased with how professional and clean it appears.

The only reason I subtracted a star was because when my mom got up after her pedicure her polish accidentally smeared on her toe.  When she immediately walked back to the tech to have it fixed the tech loudly announced:  "She messed up her toe, and I'm already running late"!  This really embarrassed my mom (who had done nothing, by the way, to purposefully "mess up her toe"...all she did was walk to the waiting area from the nail area).  Even if the tech was running behind it would have been far more professional to bite her lip, quickly fix the toe, and move on rather than humiliating a client.   That mishap aside, I will absolutely go back for more services-hoping to go for a facial next time! :)

Came for the weekend and all was less than exceptional. Upon arrival, the line at the front desk was horrendous @ 10PM. We reserved a room then proceeded to upgrade to a larger room, which I was told over the phone that none were left. We specified smoking. We get to our room, a hike from the lobby to find that it is a non-smoking floor. Not acceptable.

We called the front desk to have the error corrected and were placed on hold for ten minutes. They prepare another upgrade for us for an additional $20 a night! Whatever, I'm tired and hungry. I asked the gentleman at the front desk what my dining options were and he stated he would check. Well, he handed us our keys and told us "sorry". He failed to provide hospitality here in two ways, a) he didn't tell us where our room was located, and b) what the restaurant options were.

When we got to our room, one of the TV remotes did not work at all. The same thing happened to us last year. Do they not check these things? As a property manager, when I have a move-out I personally make sure EVERYTHING is in  working order!!!

We ran into maybe 2 employees who were nice the whole weekend. We had breakfast at "Biscoti" our first morning and was extremely disappointed. My girlfriend did not eat her Hash because it had far too much sage in the mix. I ordered their rendition of Eggs Benedict and was also disappointed. The waitress had also brought an orange juice to our table with our two coffees. I thought it was complimentary but ended up costing $4.75!

This will definitely be the last year my girlfriends' family hold their party at the Peppermill. They had blocked out 10 rooms including a huge suite and received no discount! Rooms are nice but hospitality lacks.

I used to go to this casino every chance I had. However, after running in to issues with non-gamers, having my iPhone stolen out of my pocket, my inlaws having their luggage stolen from the bell-hop, and a host of other issues, I was disturbed - but not so disturbed as to not going.

Then I received a letter from this casino for birthday saying all sorts of wonderful things. Free rooms. Free play. Free rooms for a friend. Entry in to exclusive drawings, etc. Upon arrival to use my "free play", I was told that I had none. When I inquired in to my "free" room, I was told I had none.

Being upset, I left the casino and Reno all together. A week later, I received ANOTHER birthday card saying "we are so sorry, we made a mistake" and the letter explained how I did not actually earn or deserve anything promised in the first letter.

Considering the amount of time and money I have spent on entertainment at this facility, I felt the treatment I received was disgraceful. I will never go to this establishment again.

If I want to escape from San Francisco and enter a time warp for a couple of days, I check in to the Peppermill Hotel in Reno, Nevada.  As far as Reno is concerned, this is as good as it gets, hence the 5-star rating.  However, if you are going to try to compare this experience to Las Vegas, it likely isn't going to measure up unless you restrict your comparison to being on-property at one place in Vegas.  I go to Vegas a dozen times a year, but I always take at least one trip to Reno to visit my beloved Peppermill.

All I can say is that the Peppermill in Reno provides me with something that even Las Vegas hotels do not, and that is a truly unique setting that enables me to feel completely isolated from the outside world...but in a good way.  It makes me feel like a kid again, playing in some big neon-clad fort that was created and added on to as needed over the years.  I love the casino, the diner, the little rooms with bars and video poker machines, the live music on the center stage, the pit bar, the sports book, the Fireside Lounge, and best of all, the newly built tower with fantastic updated rooms and suites.

The suite that I always stay in has a bar (complete with red velvet and undercounter red lighting) a living area with sofa, flat screen and a desk, and a powder bath.  The bedroom is large with cool lighting, a huge master bath, and televisions throughout.  The bathroom has a soaking jacuzzi tub, a glass enclosed shower, his and hers sinks, and a water closet.  For the price, this space provides a lot of bang for the buck, I guess.  You are in Reno, after all!  I usually wait for an offer in the mail to go so I am not paying full price.  I am never disappointed.

The property is not located downtown, so the only place you can really walk to is the Atlantis.  On the flip side, you don't have to deal with the crowds of downtown or the "element" that is more prevalent in that part of town.  I personally wouldn't stay downtown, but the Silver Legacy is nice to visit one day if you are looking for a change of scenery.

I have not been to the pool, but it is heated and looks very nice.  I walk by everytime I go to the casino, so I can tell you that it is well-used.  The food (including room service) is good here.  They have plenty of options 24 hours a day, and the diner is a must at least once.  You can play Keno while you wait for your food if your palm is itching too much to take a break.

The Fireside Lounge is a really cool bar that I cannot leave out of this review.  It is unlike any other bar I have been to, with the exception of the one located in Vegas.  They have a firepit with a water feature and flat screen televisions blasting out music videos along with a number of other cool features.  They sometimes offer free appetizers, but I cannot tell you when because I am not sure.  I just happened across it a few times.

I could go on and on about this place, but the bottom line is that it is fun.  It is my favorite place in Reno, as you may have guessed.  There is just something about this place.

Just revisited the hotel on 09/05/09 and must say I'm quite impressed.

All the rooms are remodeled and has almost a Venetian feel to them.  Sony LCD TVs.. even Encore uses Sharp.  Internet included.  I slept comfortably in the soft bed and didn't wake up to any outside noise this time.

Check out their arcade game area.  The games are up to date and maintained well.  I was planning to gamble but ended up playing here for about a hour or two.

The hotel is about 5 mins off the main area with Harrahs/Silver Legacy, etc. so the tables here aren't packed at all.  We were able to play at a empty $5 craps table on a Saturday.

Because of the remodeling, the hotel's theme is very conflicting.  Almost funny.  The hotel portion has a nice Venetian/Tuscany look and the rest of it has this neon/flash dance type of look.

Tip
- Book the cheapest room, arrive late and most likely they'll give you an upgrade because the cheaper rooms are all taken.

Conclusion
- For the price, I'd book here again.  I paid $30 for a Friday night
- If I were going for convenience, book at Silver Legacy
- If I were going for pure quality of the room, Grand Sierra Resort - The Summit rooms

I actually feel bad posting this review, but I feel I have no choice out of frustration.

Every year before we leave for Burning Man, we make a reservation for a hotel in Reno so we can shower and sleep before the long trek home. This year we made one at the Peppermill, thinking we'd avoid the hordes of burners who choose to stay at another popular hotel there for an after party. I used Orbits or one of those on-line price busting sites to look for a cheapish hotel and found a good price at this place and booked it weeks before the burn.

When we got there, despite paying in advance and having a reservation, the hotel was over-booked. NOT COOL. Russel, the hotel shift manager, was fabulous and assured us that our money would be refunded and that he had made a reservation for us... at a QUALITY INN. um, really?! I just paid to stay at a sweet casino, WTF? Apparently that was all that was open. The great thing was that Russel bought our room for us, but it was still a giant let down as something similar had happened to us the year before at another hotel.

I asked someone later if it would make a difference to book the reservation through the hotel rather than through an online site and my suspicion was confirmed. Hotels always overbook in order to assure a full house and they rely on cancellations. Online booking sites are the lowest priority for keeping reservations because they don't pay the hotel until 30 days later, but they hotel gets paid no matter what. If you go through the hotel instead they get paid immediately or the next day.

Lesson learned.

Not not not a fan of the Peppermill. The club they have is ok (http://www.yelp.com/bi... the restaurants are ok, the pool area is pretty sick, but the casino sucks. Its soooooooo dark and confusing, and its just way more cluttered and they don't have enough of the machines that everyone likes, like the Butterfly 7's and Red Hot 7's. They have a row of like 6 or 8 and they are always taken and there are usually people waiting for them, which you don't see most places. Soooooooo easy to get lost here because the layout of the casino is stupid as F.
Also, the cocktail waitresses are bitches and they wont offer you something to drink if you are just sitting down playing, you actually have to flag them down as they walk around aimlessly.
The ONLY thing I liked about this place was the Fish Bar, which was cool as F*** so if you choose to stay here, check it out ;)

We haven't been to Reno in years! So when Peppermill offered a coupon for a free night, we took it. They renovated the outside and inside to be an Italian Oasis, but Reno style.  If you remember casino's here, they are pretty much the same, super dark inside and smokey.

They really tried to make this place upper class and I give them 4 stars for trying their best. We have no complaints other then the smoke issue, but hey we are from California.  The service was great, the hospitality was nice, room was great. Loved the layout. They had a curtain that seperated the living room and the bedroom for privacy. Which was great when the baby and I needed to nap and Dad wanted to watch TV. The bathroom was large and very clean.

The coupon stayed true and our room bill came out to $23 for the movie we rented plus tax.  Over all a great experience.  Viva La Reno!

The meeting rooms were huge, clean, and well appointed. The restaurants were average. The hostesses in the casino are slow to bring the alcohol and the place is grimy. I kind of like that the hotel is not in the downtown area as they area is actually not bad and the clientele is a little more on the higher end. At check-in I flirted with a girl from South America and she upgraded me to the Tuscan Tower - my friend got the peppermill tower or whatever and it was night and day. There is a resort fee of like $7-10 that you have to pay for the pooi and gym, but it's worth it.

My review is on nothing but the valet service provided by the Peppermill Hotel & Casino.

" BJORN - Where you going BJORN - Don't you RUN AWAY BJORN! GET BACK HERE BJORN!!! "

Yes - this was our yelling to BJORN and I am here to let the world know of the horrible service provided by the Valet on Saturday/Sunday Morning @ Approximately 2:30 AM

So we get to the Peppermill @ Appx. 9:00PM we pull up to valet and are promptly given a ticket and asked the name to claim the vehicle.

2:00AM or so - we are ready to head back to Truckee - a very eventful evening and good times with the ladies - it was time to sleep! So we attempt to go claim the vehicle and were told its "missing" umm OK - so we continue to wait - 3AM rolls around and still no car....

We see everyone else getting their vehicle and please keep in mind were in a mini van - not that hard to miss in a parking lot full of Ferrari's and many other fancy cars....

By appx. 3:15AM we are tired of waiting and start running through the valet garage - as we do so - there goes BJORN in an Escalade and were screaming here it is - this is the car, it was 3 rows up and visible from every which direction - dumb ass guy!

So he goes and brings the escalade up to the people - we run to the key/valet office and ask for the keys - he goes in grabs them and with out a word - starts running toward the vehicle - if he thinks ignoring us is going to give him a tip hes on CRACK!

So he brings the car around and we so desperately want a picture of this ass hole or even better his managers name something - but in actuality I understand he was on his own - but ignoring us - avoiding us - and running from us was the worst of it all. It would of taken a simple I will look into this before you go jetting off like the idiot you are!

So if your at the PEPPERMILL & Want to VALET your car after 11:00PM DON'T DO IT!!! BJORN SUCKS ASS AND WILL LOOSE YOUR CAR!

OH AND THE FRONT DESK - "JUST GO TO THE MACHINE AND INSERT YOUR TICKET" THAT WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE - THE CAR WAS "MISSING" BECAUSE YOUR VALET WAS AN INCOMPETENT ASSHOLE!

A few years ago I would have given the Peppermill four stars for its video poker machines (played with my mom when she visits), for its great members' benefits, and for all the coupons they sent to me regularly.

However, ever since the PPM began its expansion about 3 years ago, everything changed. The best Video poker machines were either taken out or tightened up, and the players' club benefits were reduced.

I used to get 2-for-1 coupons for the coffee shop all the time, but those slowed down, and eventually stopped altogether. I used to get free play on my player's card and it used to be possible to park near the casino door (always good late at night).

Now, none of the above is true because they've got hundreds of millions invested in an expansion that has only served to clog up the place.

This casino always was a maze, but now the parking is as well, and I'm not interested in being one of the lab rats learning it because there is no promised reward when I navigate their maze correctly.

The few times I have been here there are less table games than ever open.

Sometimes my husband I will go out for coffee and keno to get away from all the interruptions at home when we want to discuss future business plans, or talk over something of import. But the PPM's keno runner service in the coffee shop has suffered greatly, and we've noticed that ever since they went to the electronic, computer generated Keno game, people seem to win a lot less at Keno than they ever did. Not that you can have high expectations when playing Keno, but PPM has taken the fun out of trying!

Boo hiss on the PPM. It's no longer our favorite local place, and if I never step foot inside again, I'll never miss it.

Stayed in the Tuscany tower, which is suppose to be THE place to be in Reno. Decor is very nice, room was very spacious, bed was very comfortable and the 3 pools on the property are very very nice. The fitness room had brand-spankin new machines with individual TV screens and they provide you with headsets.

Dani's complaints:
1. holes on my bed-sheets, yes, only I would notice
2. pool-side bar opens at 11am, wtf? I need my drink at 9am in the morning when I wake up!! Minus 1 star.

I don't gamble, so this review is for the pool area, which I visited recently with friends who were staying in the hotel.

WOWZA!  When can I come back?  The pool area consists of three pools, all of which are perfectly warmed, and two jacuzzis.  These are surrounded by the cushiest, most comfortable lounge chairs I have ever relaxed on.  Add to that the excellent poolside cocktail service and I was in heaven!  I think I'd rather spend the money on a room for the day than go to Wild Island!

My only complaint is that the entrance to the pool is awkward, forcing a guest to walk from the elevators all the way around through the fancy dining, bar area of the hotel in their bathing suits.

Usually, I cannot stand going to casinos, but when the parents are in town, there is no room at MY place, so they must stay somewhere.  The Peppermill is a favorite in my family because the rooms are decent and not too outdated (although the mirrored walls IS a little 1982...) and the casino is nice.

But the remodeled pool.  Oh. My. God.  It is so nice!  It was as if I was vacationing in Las Vegas!  I could have stayed in that pool all day long. Then the lightening storm came and ruined all my fun.  But honest to God, the pool alone is worth the stay here.

Lisa R. is right, however; no more awesome coupons for locals.  Which is too bad, because I might actually come here more often, especially if I could figure out a way to get my butt in that pool more often!

I was in Reno for business.

They told my co-worker that they didn't need her business (seriously, it is true).  Is it that wrong to ask for a non-smoking room only to get attitude from the "check-in" guy at the front desk?  (This guy, John, gave her the attitude chuckle).

My friend didn't settle for the smoking room (they ran out of non-smoking).  Me?  I took the smoking... only because I was lazy and tired and didn't want to find another hotel.  I ended up sleeping in the bathroom after tossing and turning all night due to the cigarette smoke (bathroom was the only room that didn't smell like smoke).

Peppermill really didn't care after I told them the incident the next day.

There are plenty of other hotels and casinos.  I recommend one that will be more friendly and accomodating to their guest.  Or one that at least tries or pretends to care.....

But get this.... I was sooooo tired the next day that I left my shoes in the room.  I called to inquire about my shoes when I got home and they fed-ex'd them to me right away.

So who knows... they don't steal shoes but they don't care about my business?

Yeah, and perhaps their swimming pools are so difficult to access because they really don't want you to use them -- they want you to take a circuitious route in the hopes that you'll gamble or otherwise drop money on your way to the elaborate pool(s).

Very very pleasant surprise (thanks to Yelp for the suggestion). I had always assumed Reno = shabby; this property is anything but.  Stayed on a lower nonsmoking floor in the Tuscany tower, whose rooms are gaudy/tacky as all hell but well-appointed. We were right by the elevator/ice machine on a busy weekend but had no noise problems to speak of. No noticeable smoke issues in the restaurants or on the casino floor either -- either people are smoking less or Peppermill has much better ventilation than the places we've stayed in Las Vegas, but however they managed it, it worked for us.  Wife was very impressed with the spa facilities too, having spent most of the day there. Will definitely get our business next time we're in town (might even make it a destination rather than a stopover).

I've stayed twice for work recently.  I stayed once in the newly renovated Peppermill Tower and once in the brand spankin new Tuscan Tower.  They were both cool, and in my opinion the best spot if you've got to go to Reno.

The Peppermill Tower has spacious rooms, decorated in creams and golds.  The rooms have a large plasma tv and a desk and couch.  They aren't fantastic, but definitely much better than average.  3.5 stars.

The Tuscan Tower rooms are seriously about as nice as a hotel room can be.  You can almost live in this room.  It is decorated in burgundy and gold, has a large plasma (with HD) in the bedroom and another in the bathroom.  The bathroom has a wonderful dressing area, a separate toilet, a jacuzzi and a shower with three shower heads.  It is magnificent, you forget you are in Reno for a few seconds... 5 stars.

The casino is pretty cheese.  The ceilings are much lower than your modern Vegas casino, and the carpet is purple with planets and rainbows.  Seriously terrible.  It is huge and easy to get lost in - BUT most serious gamblers will tell you they win at the Mill.  2.5 stars.

The restaurants are pretty good.  I ate (and Yelped) several of their restaurants, all good to very good.  The pool is large and new, and full of gorgeous 80 year old women.  Tuscan Ballroom is completely modern and badass.  4 stars.

All in all, the best hotel in the Biggest Little City.  That's not saying much - but it is the lone hotel in the city that gives any sort of Vegas vibe whatsoever.

First off, happy 24th birthday Thuy (woo-hoo mama!). Unfortunately, Thuy have weekdays off.. and it's impossible for us to link our days off together. So we thought, Reno would be the best biggest little city to celebrate her birthday. And where else better to make this trip a memorable one then to stay at Peppermill Hotel and Casino?!

The newly renovated hotel reminds me of Bellagio/ Caesar from Las Vegas. Their rooms are filled with custom made furniture that gives off warmth and comfortable accents. They also have hand-painted art decor in the room, as well as in the hallways, that provides a personal touch that distinguish them from other hotels/casino in Reno.

We stayed in the deluxe Peppermill tower. Notable things about the room was their high quality mattresses, luxurious triple sheeting and linens, goose-down and non-allergenic foam pillows, and the medium to large plasma TV.

The service was ... ehh.. well.. the concierge and front receptionist were extremely friendly and efficient when it comes to taking care of the customer. On the other hand, the cocktail server was somewhat slow. We wanted to order four shots of XO (mind you, we told her if they weren't the 'free' drinks on the casino floor, we are willing to pay for them), she quickly replied, we don't serve XO. And then asked us what XO was?! Holy cow. Next!

As for the amenities, Peppermill has a new spa Toscana, price wise, they're a tad overpriced.. considering the advertisement right before you enter the hotel, there's another spa two blocks down that offer massages for $60 for 45 minutes. The spa, however, is quite elegant. Its design is inspired by the glorious baths of Roman times. They also have a small fitness center, two gorgeous outdoor pools with three spas, and cabanas. Oh, of course, they have a chapel inside the hotel that caters to wedding venues.

Furthermore, they have a new nightclub, Edge, opens Thursday - Sunday. Dress code is strictly enforced. They replicated Re-hab Sunday in Las Vegas, and opened an adult only pool party every Sunday starting noon - 8PM.

Peppermill have a lot to offer. The main bonus that I like about staying and gaming at Peppermill is the complimentary room offer they mail to me. Additionally, they give me 'free' play money and booklet with over $700 offers/discounts, i.e. $10 off dining in Coffee Shop w/ a purchase of $20 or more, 2 for 1 admission to Edge Nightclub, match play in Black Jack, etc.

Peppermill is as good as it gets when it comes to hotel casino in the Reno area. I'm a huge fan that will continue to visit for years to come.

My rating does not mean a 4-star by any stretch of the imagination.  Mostly because of the level of expectation I had was significantly exceeded.

I had to go to Reno for one night for work and this was their choice of accommodations.  I had only been to Reno once prior and it was on my way to Tahoe.  I never would imagine considering Reno as a destination before staying at the Peppermill.  However, I can honestly say, that if I wanted to have a spa weekend out of my 'hood after a road trip, for a reasonable price (this is the key - otherwise there is Napa) I would honestly consider a trip to the Peppermill.

The room was less than $75 / night.  Upon checking in I was upgraded to the Tower.  The room was large with a king bed,  large bathroom, 3 plasma tvs, and a sitting area with floor -to-ceiling windows.  Not so bad for the price.  However, the decor was a bit too faux and intentional.  The plasma tv's all had gaudy gold frames around them.  The bathroom, while very nicely done, did not have a bathtub.  Big FAIL there.

The spa services look really incredible and the pool area (which I didn't have time to try) is extremely inviting.

For these reasons, I was quite impressed with the amenities this hotel has to offer and would possibly make a trip of it (after about 1000 other places I'd rather go).

Now for the downsides:

1.  We wanted to have a light bite to eat upon our arrival and ventured toward the Casino.  There was a walk up counter but nothing appealing - mostly fried crud.  So we decided to wait till breakfast.  While heading to the room, I discovered restaurant...but I never would have known it was available.  Perhaps we could have asked someone, but with all the signs there, it should have been better marked.

2.  When my co-worker walked into her room, she was greeted by a snoring person in her bed.  Originally she was not upgraded, but was triply upgraded after telling the front desk of her unwanted "roommate".

3.  I called for breakfast room service around 10:30 pm for the next a.m.  I was honestly on hold for 20 minutes.  The breakfast arrived 15 minutes early and woke me.

4. A local coworker had previously gone to the hotel and prepaid our rooms.  It was confirmed at check-in that they were prepaid.  Upon checking out, they charged our cards and later told us over the phone there was no record of prepayment.  That call took 30 minutes.

Based on these "downsides" - the rating really should be a "2" but the good, I suppose, outweighs the bad.

Before coming to the Peppermill with a friend of mine I refused to ever come back to Reno...but this place comps you very well. I used to go to the Silver Legacy and you would never get any kind of comps you could use if you work during the week. My only complaint this last time we went was some old uptight dealers that really needed to go home and take a nap and come back in a better mood. Did i mention that they serve premium liquor??? The Tuscany Tower Suite is soooo nice...the bathroom has a jet tub, flat screen, and a dual head shower.

It wasn't a perfect stay but this place was an unbelievable value for the money.  Hence the five stars.  My partner and I had one of their special packages.  It was $179 which included a suite, dinner credit for $100, breakfast credit for $50 and a $25 drink credit.

The room and food were both excellent quality.  The suite was gorgeous and it had a whirlpool jacuzzi in the bath, along with a flat panel tv in the bathroom.  You could watch tv while having a jacuzzi.  We had dinner at the Romanza and the food was superb.  For breakfast, we had room service and they did it right.

Any downsides?  Yes.   The pool area had loud music blasting away and was filled with college-age kids.  The casino was so smoke filled that I would have to shower after walking through it.  Of course I'm from CA and I'm sure most casinos are like this.

Overall, it was an excellent value and I was surprised at the high quality of the hotel staff.  I'll definitely be back.

Althought I am not a gambler, I would still say peppermill is the best casino hotel in Reno.
first of all, staffs are very friendly, it's more than just a casino.
Newly renovated, all the rooms are with with big flat screen tv, so you can access to the game with out even getting out of your room. extremely  comfortable bed and soft bedings got me to sleep like a little baby, wake up regenerated the next morning.  And prompt breakfast in bed service is only a phone call away.
There are many restaunts to choose from, nice recreation pool, aren't these enought to made a  great stay?
(For wedding couples need, there's also a fabulous chaple inside the hotel)

A friend and I went over Labor Day weekend just to get out of the city.  Neither of us had ever been to Reno before.  Through http://hotels.com, we got a room in the "Montego" wing for $70.  When we got our bill we, too, were charged the "resort fee", but it was part of the $70.

When we arrived, I was wearing a polo shirt, cargo shirts and flip-flops.  My feet were dirty and dusty from tramping around Lake Tahoe all morning.  When we walked into the lobby, my friend said "oh-oh!  Looks like you're overdressed!"  And she was right.  Trust me when I say that Old Navy is high-end to the people who were at this resort over Labor Day weekend.  At least most everyone was wearing shoes.

The Peppermill has recently had a very expensive renovation/upgrade.  The public areas and casino/restaurants are about as over-the-top and tacky as you can get.  It looks like Liberace threw up.  Teletubby colors, gazillions of led/neon lights, "Tuscan" columns/marble, outer-space carpeting and sparkly/shiny surfaces everywhere.  It was awesome in its hideousness!

The Montego wing is connected via a skywalk from the main property, obviously the old part of the property (but it has been renovated).  The skywalk looks like something one would expect at Disneyland: it has these funky bluish/purple lights that run the length of it.  I joked that they were UV lights to sterilize the lesser Montego denizens before they were allowed back into the main property.

Our room was clean and comfortable.  Two very nice, soft queen beds, a large plasma screen, nice, large bathroom with granite countertop, tile floors and the standard blow/dryer, glassware, coffeemaker (in the bathroom.  that always kills me) towels, soaps, etc.  We did not notice any smoke smell (we were on the non-smoking level) as others have.  The hallway did smell like a dirty bong at one point however.

The casino is gigantic.  Tons of slots (which I have little use for) and a fun/frenzied gaming area.   The croupiers at the roulette table we parked at changed frequently - but all were fun and nice.  I know, I know: roulette has one of the worst odds of any game in a casino.  But, I can't help it.  The cocktail waitress was there frequently as well, and drinks were decent (they are free, after all).

Free parking in the spacious, easily-accessible parking garage.

We went to the other casinos "downtown" - meh.   Downtown Reno is a dump -  Reno 911makes it look better than it really is.  A bunch of hillbilly kids roaming the streets trying to be cool.  Reno hipsters, I guess.  Honestly, if I ever do return to Reno, I'll definitely stay at the Peppermill again - and not leave until I return home.

Hmm...lets see....

Wanted to go to Vegas in July for our anniversary, but the last minute rates were ridiculous. So we decided to go to Reno hoping it would be something like it. Ehhh, negative. This hotel and casino was really nice. However, when we arrived and proceeded to check in, our spa suite wasnt ready. The lady at the check in counter was extremely rude, and offered no explanation as why the room wasnt ready. She just said, "your room isnt ready yet, do u want another room?" I definately reserved the spa suite so NO i dont want the regular room. Then I ask her how long will it be until its ready. Nonchalantly she answers, "i dont know maybe 2 hours". In the words of Too Short, Biatch!! Anyways, overall it was fun. Nice casino, nice restaurants, nice room. I still prefer Vegas though :)

I struggled between this place and the Grand Sierra but Peppermill won me over because the pool area looked great in the pictures. Would we go back? Probably not any time soon - Reno itself wasn't all that to begin with. Aside from not having much to do, the crime we saw there this weekend was just way too much for me.

We stayed in the Montego Bay Wing (advertised for $49.99 but really came to $67 with all the crazy taxes and resort fee). Never again!

The walk to this area was probably a mile long. It was like they put you in the motel in the back lot (no it wasn't even connected to the main building). They didn't allow us to park at the lot outside b/c of an event they were preparing for the next day. The room was not as pretty as the picture. It was too small, dark and didn't seem very refreshing. There were some holes in the fleece blanket that we didn't mind too much but to advertise as the best hotel in Reno, they did not live up to my expectations.

The pool area was nice but when we got there at 1:30 pm on Sunday, the larger pool was closed up for a 21 year and older party (why!!!!)

Be careful not to touch the snacks, they are hooked up to sensors.

The Good

Best sports book in town
Mile high deli sandwiches
Gigantic canolis
Great rooms
Great food at Romanza, the Italian Restaurant.
Lots of Gaming options
Positively monstrous convention area
The HD videos from around the world that play on the big screens are beautiful.

The Bad

Confusing Casino Layout.
Easy to get lost
Hard to find your favorite table
Awful gelato upstairs
Smoke.  Ugh.
Location - way off the strip at the far end of Virginia.
Service is slow, bad attitude by some of the staff

The Ugly

The decor is pretty tasteless, but I write that off to Reno.
The remodel is evident everywhere and it doesn't match up.
Another wanna-be Tuscan makeover likely from a decorator that's never been to Tuscany.

Overall, this is a great Reno destination.  Next to the Nugget, it's about the best thing going.

I come to the Peppermill for the free rooms! I have been here about four times and only paid for my room once.. the first time. I signed up for a players card my BF and I used the same card we just asked for 2, he plays table's and must af played alot more than I thought because every month we get free room offers in the mail. Our last one was for one of the best room's in the hotel and a coupon for a Tuscany room for a friend plus $400.00 in free play, My sis who I guess does not play as much still recieved a great deal.. a Tuscany tower for herself and a Peppermill tower for a friend plus $100.00 in free play.. so make sure to sign up for the Players card when you go!

Sorry the Hotel is nice, blue lights are kinda creepy... Love all the penny machines!

It's definitely important to note that you need to book through the hotel directly if you want your stay to be a pleasant experience.  The first time I came here, I booked through Expedia.  Big mistake!  When I checked in they said they only had a smoking room reserved for me because they were full and that they could not refund my money because had I read the fine print clearly on the Expedia website, it stated that special requests (such as "non-smoking" room) can not be guaranteed.  wtf!  So I was pretty much forced to smoke and get lung cancer.

Other than that super unpleasant experience, I like this place.  It's very affordable and I always enjoy my time here.

Dear Peppermill,

I reluctantly went to your casino/hotel because we didn't get the new rooms in the new tower.  The pictures depicted a drab room with drab colors and a drab view.

I now feel like a regretful, pitiful lover that never gave his full support to his old flame; lamenting about how much of an idiot I was in a relationship where I ignored the finer parts of the good times.  I'm sorry Peppermill, I never meant to hurt you.

We got a huge room, subtle lighting, walls covered with mirrors for your own sex show, and a buffet that was pretty awesome.  If anything, the movie that best describes the feeling I get is "Boogie Nights."  The old seventies decor made me feel like I was living like a high roller porn star that blew his load all over the couch, large bathroom, wall-to-wall mirrors, and the king sized bed--twice.

Our view was directly over the new Edge club, its outdoor waterfall and fireplaces, and the multitude of pools down below.  This was quite awesome because I casually noticed two people in the pool in a compromising position.  It was about 40 degrees outside, but they thought they needed to get closer, repeatedly.

For $67 a night, it was worth every penny.  Please forgive me and I will promise to come back again and again.

Love,
Alfred

I had a wonderful time here. Pleasantly surprised with the makeover.  We had a suite that was fantastic and a lot like the one we stayed in at The Venetian in Las Vegas, for a whole lot less money! Beautifully decorated and treated well by the staff. Our main reason for having traveled here was to see Jay Leno, whom as awesome!
The only part that confused me is the long ago established Peppermill still exists within the casino, very dark and seemed rather dirty. It seemed incongruent after you stepped out of the new Tuscany addition to go downstairs and land there.  Still I'd go back and probably will!

When we walked in from the bright sun into this casino we were almost blinded by the decor.  If you like neon, want to see a Mylar chandelier and really dig mirrors - everywhere, then you'll love this place.  The only thing that wasn't reflecting something was the carpet and it was planets with rainbows, just plain scary to me.  We should have got the hint when we walked by the statue of David outside.  We came here to play the slots and have a bite to eat.  We ate at the coffee shop.  I ordered the Eggs Benedict, absolutely the worst meal I've ever eaten.  My hubby ordered the chicken fried steak and his was delicious.  So I guess I'd have to say, don't order the eggs Benedict. Gambling-wise, I came away about $100 ahead.  Yeah, I'd probably go back here, once the shock of the decor wore off, I guess I'll be prepared next time.

The one I like the most around d/t Reno.  Love the ambiance and their room is much more elegant than Silver Legacy.  Even it's a drive to downtown area but still worth it to stay here.  Plus it's only a few minutes drive.  However, Silver Legacy looks much more secure because guests need to show their door key before entering the elevator.

quick valet service, not too long of a wait for check in (5-10 mins) on a friday.  video poker bartenders by the sports book were nice, the one's by the sushi restaurant were better.  4 stars because the hot tub is tiny, and the decor in the rooms (we stayed in the suites) was taacky.  did not eat at any of the restys.

This place is disgusting! I went there last weekend for a wedding. When we checked in they were very nice and told me I'd be staying in a king sized bed in a non-smoking room. When we checked in there were 2 beds on a smoking floor. I didn't complain since it wasn't that big of a deal. My friend, who was also staying at the casino with her boyfriend said there were dirty towels in her bathroom and expired sodas in their minibar.

When we went to the wedding on Saturday and had dinner the food looked gross, but I figured it's a casino, they aren't known for their cuisine I'm sure it will be fine.

OH MY DEAR GOD!

If you've never had food poisoning before consider yourself lucky. I was throwing up for 4 straight hours (amongst other things). I have never been so sick in my entire life and I pray to god that I never get that sick again. I called my friend, sister to the bride, and asked if she felt sick. She told me that 40 other people (that she knew of), including the bride and groom got food poisoning from the dinner too.

This place smells terrible, the food is over priced and apparently contaminated. You couldn't pay me to go to this place again. Imagine getting married and having all of your guests get sick from the food?!?!? My stomach still isn't right, 4 days later. do not eat at this place!!!!

This is probably the best casino to go to up in Reno.  It is a Las Vegas type casino in Reno.  It reminds me of a small scale Venetian or Caesars Palace - as far as styling.

This place has a 6 story parking garage - very convenient.  It is also updated with lot capacity, so it is always easy to find a spot.

When you walk in, you will notice the purple lights and colorful carpets.  I like how it has been decorated on the inside - definitely unique compared to the other Reno casinos.

Again, we simply came to play at the Poker room.  They have quite a few games going.  You can probably find a game that you want to play in.  In fact, when we went on Memorial weekend, there was a game behind me going for $25/50 NL.  The people had stacks of 100s on the table.  Really exciting to be in the same room as high rollers.

All in all, this is probably my favorite casino to go to in Reno.  It has everything that I'm looking for and more.
