The pros:  It was clean, comfortable, had an edible tho uninteresting breakfast.  The price was right especially for three people and getting a AAA discount.  Convenient.

The cons:  The walls are thin and the heat didn't work all that super.  They did give us a space heater so that helped a bunch.   The lower level garage makes me nervous and they wanted our car down there because the SUV's can't fit.

I'd stay here again.

My fiance and I had stayed here before without much incident so booked it for another snowboarding trip. We checked in around 9 PM and found that our door did not lock. We noticed this when I went to insert the card key and the door simply opened. There was some noticeable damage to the door jam that prevented the door from closing properly and locking. When I called the front desk they said that the maintenance man had left for the day and that there was no one available to fix the door. I asked if there was another room we could be transferred to and she said they were booked. My fiance and I had not eaten at that point and wanted to go out to dinner but did not want to leave all of our belongings in an unlocked hotel room - not to mention staying in an unsafe room. We decided to try to fix it ourselves as we didn't have many other options. We managed to fix the door and it locked.

The next morning I went to talk to the front desk attendant who said that the door wasn't broken and that it did in fact lock. I tried to explain to her that my fiance and I had somehow managed to fix it and that I simply wanted to let her know so the maintenance person could properly fix the door. She was extremely rude and wasn't convinced that the door was broken. I am extremely disappointed with how the situation was handled and there are MANY other places to stay in the area that are a way better value and have much friendlier staff.

Going with three stars:
1) Shower head sucks
2) No movie channel
3) A little pricey

That said, the staff was friendly, the room was clean

We had a great experience here. Last summer for $350 we got 2 nights, free continental breakfast for 2 mornings, a room with a nice view, and passes to go river rafting. Its in a quieter area of Lake Tahoe but still has some good places to eat and get drinks. Right across the street is Commons Beach. If we were staying any longer we would have gotten bored in this area but for a couple days it was nice and relaxing. Very clean, comfortable, really nice bathroom. For $50 extra we could have gotten a room with a whirlpool tub but they were all rented out already.

One step up from the Tahoe Inn across the street. Very modest place and decent value. Again if it's just a bed and shower you need before hitting the slopes it will do the trick.

DO NOT STAY HERE.

Here are the reasons why this place is absolutely horrible:

1) My perfume was stolen out of my room (I assume by housekeeping) and management would not do anything about it. They simply said "our housekeeper wouldn't do that". The female owner was extremely defensive and rude. No refund, no apology, no customer service whatsoever.

2) The walls are so thin I could hear the people next door snoring. No wonder they have a basket of ear plugs at the reception desk.

3) The location of our room was horrible - on the parking lot, right next to the breakfast room that opens at 7am and next to stairs to the second floor. People were outside our room at all hours of the night and we literally got 3 hours of sleep the first night.

4) The room itself is miniature in size. It was barely enough for 2 people to move around.

My suggestion is to stay at a real hotel (e.g. Cal Neva) where customer service is stellar and you pay the same amount to not deal with all of this B.S. Unless, that is, you prefer to be treated like crap and want to be pissed off your entire vacation.

I've never even written a yelp review in the 2 years that I've been a member, but I don't want anyone to have to waste money on a sh%thole like this place. Trust me. They have horrible reviews on http://tripadvisor.com as well. BTW, I tried to give this place zero stars but that's not an option.

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay here, but I will not be returning.  Not until they get new management.  When we checked in to our room, we noticed the sign on the desk for a AAA discount.  We had forgotten our insurance information in the car, but the very nice lady said not to worry about it...to bring it by when we checked out and the 10% discount would be applied to our bill.  I walked in to check out, insurance in hand, and the woman points to the sign on the desk and says, See there it says you must present when checking in.  I explained to her that the clerk who checked us in told us to bring it by when we checked out, and she responded with, She is just a desk clerk.  She doesn't know anything.  She told you the wrong information.  I said, well, if we had known that I would have walked ten feet to the car and brought it back right then.  I asked her if she was not going to honor it, being that it was her employee who gave me the wrong information.  She said no.  The charges had already gone through and could not be reversed.  I said, that's not true, you can easily reverse a charge.  Then she said it would take too long.  FINALLY, she agreed to apply the discount.  Literally, I'm not exaggerating, ONE MINUTE LATER, she had reversed and charged me the discounted rate.

On top of that, when we mentioned that some of the light bulbs in our room were burned out, that all the tv channels were fuzzy and that the jets in our whrilpool tub spewed out dirt, she merely said "That doesn't sound right."  Like the others have said here, no apology, nothing.  She is the definition of horrible customer service.

Aside from her and the few issues with our room, the hotel is actually nice.  We were up on the 4th floor with great views of the lake, and it's walking distance to the beach accross the street.  Not too expensive either.

Great Lake Tahoe Hotel!  Newly Renovated hotel with a cozy and friendly atmosphere.  Nice amenities and resourceful staff!
