I just moved into a new apartment so I have a bit of furnishing to do, and I decided to pop into People United it see what it had to offer. It has a nice collection of global wares but focuses mostly on Indo-Asian artifacts. When I went in I told the woman behind the register that I was looking for a bowl or tray for my coffee table and she mentioned that all the copper on this one table was 50% off and that there was a furniture gallery downstairs. I poked around for a little while but eventually found exactly what I was looking for on the 50% off table--a very pretty hand worked copper tray. I brought it to the register and the clerk (not the one who had helped me earlier) tried to charge me full price.  This is store can be very expensive and this tray at full price was $64.00. When I told her I got it from the sale table she sighed heavily and said that it shouldn't be there but that she would give me the discount anyway. I am glad that she did give me the discount, but it wasn't my fault that the tray (along with four others just like it) had ended up on the table and I wasn't trying to dupe them. Oh well. I still like the store and I did get the tray (which came with a description of the artist and his story).
