My radiator was broken during an oil change here. The manager was surly, beligerent, hostile, and rude. Even if he didn't believe it was their fault, that is no way to talk to a customer, or anyone. The WORST customer service ever. This happened after I made three attempts to get an oil change here but couldn't get anyone to acknowledge me. If there is a wait, at least come out and say so. These fast food oil change places are not cheaper and they do a shitty job and don't care about service. You can get an oil change for less money by qualified, experienced mechanics who care about their reputation at most auto shops.
I decided to bring my truck to this place based on the reviews given by other yelpers. It was definitely a pleasant experience. These guys were upbeat, friendly, and fast. You also get to pick the service and oil you want without ever leaving your car! I recommend these guys.
This place is so conveniently located that I've actually found myself in their parking lot completely by accident at least a couple of times! Seriously, they're at this crazy junction of Hwy 24 and a bunch of main streets, and I've often inadvertently made a turn into their lot when intending to do otherwise... So the last time this happened, I figured it was a calling of some sort and I decided to go ahead and get the oil change done. No one tried to up-sell me on anything, but I think I may have been on the phone most of the time I was there and this was probably a deterrent.
i got a my truck serviced there a couple of times and they do a wonderful job. if some of the fluids needs to be changed, they will show me a sample first and let me decide if i want to change them. they also have a nifty computer system showing how often the fluids needs to be changed. so i will know i am not getting ripped off..
they just started doing this AC recharge service and it's great. i go down to so cal all the time and ac is a must down there.. the price is very fair.. 100 bucks to get it completely recharged. i highly recommand these guys.. five stars!!!
Decent place and affordable compared to the other lube places. You can get a basic oil change for $30. Jiffy Lube and Oil Changers start at $40.
For Ian G. concerning the "thingy." It's an oil drain plug!!
I have always felt pretty indifferent to oil change places, but Speed Oil Change has changed that completely! The guys here are fast, professional, have a good sense of humor and make getting an oil change a pleasant experience. On top of it all, the price is right ($30 or so for the basic or full service change).
They forgot to put the thingy on right.
I am sure they are mostly good at what they do, but this is my review, and for me, when they were done changing my oil, they didn't put the "thingy" that keeps all the oil from just falling out onto the ground on. Sorry for not knowing car terminology... if I knew the technical details I would be changing the oil myself! ASK FOR THE THINGY TO BE ON RIGHT.
The similar store in El Cerrito has so far always put the thingy on correctly.

These guys are masters at upselling me every single time. They show me various fluids and then tell me that they're thick or they smell bad or whatever and then I pay a lot to change them. My inner conspiracy theorist thinks that they keep on file what they upsold me on last time so that they don't do it twice. But nevertheless, they're very fast and they seem nice enough and it's very convenient.
This place is reasonable, but watch out for the upselling of services you may not need. Most of the time I come here (when in a rush to get a quick oil change) they try to sell me some added service.
Also makes good sense to use their frequent buyer card to get a free oil change after (10?) changes.

Great prices. Fast and friendly service! There is also a coffee place about 10 feet away...
Efficient and fast oil change. A little high than I was expecting to pay, but not horrible.
I was only slightly disappointed in that for first time customers they give you coupons for your friends not you and of course unless you are doing a lot of driving you will not use the coupon yourself before it expires.
Luckily for my friend, they got a great deal on their oil change. ;)
these guys have been good to me... real fast... and i see you guys talking about up selling and all that but hey.. you guys go there for a "SERVICE"... its part of there job to check and tell you whats wrong with your car... if they dont tell you... who will?? a mechanic after it breaks down??... but hey.. if you dont want to change it... simply say no... they are just doing their job... i have conversations with those guys all the time.... how they get burns from the cars that come in really hot from driving from who knows where... they are really good guys... hard workers... i give them 5 stars..

7 oil changes later I finally get my free Oil Change!
Yeehoo!
However, in order to do this I had to bring both cards in, I mean they have my whole history in the computer but they need me to carry paper and we're talking over every 3-5 months here between visits, they can totally automate it but they don't and that's just rude.
The guys are not the warmest and they do upsell but they are efficient and the location is convenient, off the highway, turn left and leave and slide right on the highway. You could sit in your car or you could walk over to BakeSale Betty where you could meet the lovely Connie C. for lunch.
Well maybe you couldn't but I can and I did and a free oil change, bakesale betty's egg sandwich and a cookie all basking in Connie's brightness is a 5 star experience.

As a very late driver (licensed at 25), I love all things Drive-Thru. This place is cheap, there are cute boys, and it shares a parking lot with a DRIVE THRU coffee place! Woot! I'll have a latte and an oil change pleeeeease. Yes, they'll try to sell you extra stuff, but I know how to say No. So if you don't, then your problems are probably more serious than just spending too much money at the oil-changers. See Yelp Search: Therapist.
And P.S. You DO have to get out of your car at the end to pay. Don't know why....and it always makes me grumpy....but you should probably atleast wear some pants.

They won't even do an oil change on my 2001 VW Passat, as it has a skid plate on the bottom that needs to be detached before the oil change. I'm used to being charged extra to remove it, but I've never been flat out refused before. They said "it takes about 20 minutes to get that thing off", which is hooey, since I've had entire oil changes in 10 minutes at places like this. I've also seen the skid plate myself, and it's a simple affair of pulling out a few bolts.
Of course there's the mass of dudes standing around goofing off until cars pull in, but once you get in there they swarm your car and are actually pretty polite and don't really try and sell you extra stuff.
Also, their windshield wipers are cheaper than Kragen's and they'll install them for you instantly.

Standard oil change place.
Most people don't have to get out of their cars, but if you've got a 1997 Toyota Previa, all your valves and dohickeys are under the driver's seat, so you've got to haul your PJ-clad ass out of the car and embarrass yourself because, god damnit, another Yelper said I wouldn't have to get out of the car so I just wore my PJs and didn't shower or anything. Plus, it's cold and the only place to sit is way windy, so it's better to just stand there and watch them work on your car and wonder if they think you're some kind of freak for showing up without even bothering to put on a bra.
He tried to sell me some bonus stuff, but I know Mrs. Beaver (the car, the CAR's name is Mrs. Beaver) already has her check engine light on, so I had already made an appointment to take her in to Art's, so I said no.
The whole dealie cost me, uh, I think it cost me thirty or forty bucks after tax, and I went for the +1 deal where I got all my fluids topped off (heh) in addition to the oil change.

Very helpful by phone. Don't have my filter but if I buy one and take it there, they will change oil and credit back the filter. (OK this was a week ago or so.)
Since then I bought my own filter and took it around. I ended up paying $83 for an oil change (my Sprinter takes 9 quarts of synthetic oil) which is less than I paid at the dealer where I bought it in Sacramento (Dodge dealer out there on Rt. 50... way out there.) But Pennzoil did a nice job and did it quickly (less than 30 minutes), and I was in a hurry.
In the minus column, they credited me only $2.00 for the $14 filter I had to purchase for them to do the job.
Very efficient. Even if there is a bit of a line, you won't wait long. You can just chill in your car the whole time. Half the time they tell me I need some other filter or fluid changed and I tell them fine. I hope I'm not getting ripped off. The price is comparable to other places.
super-fast "drive-through" oil change (you don't even have to get out of your car).
