What a great coffee shop!  Seriously, RIP Penny Lane--you are not quickly forgotten or easily replaced not even by the cleverly named (NO) Laughing Goat.  Yeah, some folks linger around this place wishin' it was the ol' lane.  Wishin' you were here, so to speak BUT NO.  Gone.  Forever.  Had a great run though, yes?

You could: bring out your dingy homemade boy-band for a go at open mike.  Sling some stupid poetry that no one buy your girlfriend will ever appreciate.  Run into people...you were hoping to run into. BUT no more.  Nada.  Done.  The End.  RIP

Locals are wailing that this institution might close because their lease is not being renewed, clientele is not upscale enough.  Well, folks, here's the deal: people sit outside and smoke, throwing cigarette butts all over the place.  The chairs and patio are filthy, and after accompanying my ex here on a photo assignment, I felt like I needed a hot bath.  So I am not sad to see the place go.

Penny Lane is gone. R.I.P. (I mourn and I'm not even a hippie or junkie) You can find some of the crowd down the block at the Laughing Goat.

now that penny lane is gone, visiting home has a huge void. my dad started playing shows at penny lane in like 1987 (when it was across the street) so i pretty went there my whole life.  everything is good, everything.  the laughing goat (opened by some of the old baristas) is ok, but lacking in bizarre decor and drug addicts.  rip penny lane, you are irreplaceable.
