The Penn's View Hotel is a great choice for any type of traveler, and the rates are extremely reasonable.

For a small, boutique-style hotel, our room was charming (exposed brick walls, hardwood floors) and very clean. The bathroom was spacious, and had an oversize jacuzzi tub.

Service was on par with any hotel chain, if not better. Antonio, the desk staffer who took my reservation and checked us in, was very helpful, pleasant, and offered several suggestions for things to do, even though we're locals. I saw a lot of overseas travelers staying here, which I thought was cool.

They also offer a big continental breakfast that is miles away from the standard stale bagels and rancid coffee option you get at most hotels. They had a waffler maker, large fruit spread, egg boiler, fresh bagels, sliced bread & a toaster, scones, muffins, and fresh coffee. Pretty nice way to end our stay.

Overnight parking (till 3pm the next day) next to the hotel is only $21, which is great for Old City, and you may come and go as you please. It's in walking distance to the majority of the city's historic sites (Liberty Bell, Indepence Hall, Betsy Ross House, etc.), and great restaurants, bars and boutiques. It's a short, inexpensive cab ride to Center City, Northern Liberties, and most of South Philadelphia.

I didn't try out the wine bar, but I heard it's great.

Why haven't more people reviewed this hotel--it's fan-freaking-tastic!! Very cute, quaint little place that looks/feels more like a bed & breakfast once you enter your room.

The staff was extremely nice and helpful, it wasn't outrageously expensive and it over looks the Delaware River waterfront. Perfect location right there in the market. What more could you ask for? As the other gals mentioned, for all my fellow winos out there, they have a fantastic Italian wine bar that after I read had literally hundreds of wines by the glass, had to stop by for a nightcap vino. Bartenders were indeed excellent.

Why would you want to stay in a Marriott or Best Western when you could have the Penns View??

This hotel is great! The rooms have tons of character (and I don't mean that as code for anything negative), the staff is really nice, and the location is perfect! But the best part is the AMAZING wine bar downstairs. They have something like 800 bottles of wine that you can order by the glass. So you can try tons of different wines that you would normally have to order by the bottle. And it really has to be the most perfect date place I've ever seen in my life. If you're visiting Philly, stay there. If you live in Philly, make your next date at their bar. You won't be sorry!

My husband and I stayed here for our 1 year wedding anniversary last month and we were not dissappointed! It is a very nice boutique-style hotel in a great location in old city. we were able to walk everywhere from here! the wine bar in the lobby was awesome with very entertaining bartenders, though a tad pricey. the free breakfast was a nice touch. we were upgraded to a king size room with patio and it had an amazing view of the river. nice little workout room, if you use that sort of thing. very nice and clean marble bathrooms and great shower. we would definitely stay here again!
