Peninsula State park is great no matter what the season or the sport that you enjoy in it.
For biking- the path takes about an hour and a half and goes along the shoreline passing lighthouses, and historic markers telling of days gone by.
If you are a hiker- take any one of the many paths and don't miss the climb to Eagle Tower. There are about 200 steps which are a great work out not to mention the hiking trail just o get there that is a two mile loop.
There is also camping, water sports (with canoe and kayak rental) swimming (pretty cold water) or just sitting in any of the many benches scattered about to commune with nature.
The cliffs of carved stone, the lapping waves, the trees, the bright blue sky all make the scenery exquisite. In the Winter the pristine snow is almost blinding and in the Fall- the leaves paint a color show so bright you have to squint to take it all in.
This is surely some of the best that Mother Nature has to offer.

What a lovely park. There are some many places to stop and enjoy the scenery. Me and 3 others took an 9.6 mile bike ride. Most of the trails are a bit hilly so don't feel bad about walking your bike up it every once and awhile. It is so beautiful, the park reminded me of Ontario Canada.
So I had to rent a bike from a little place across from the entrance of the State Park (Nor-Door Sports & Cyclery) it was only $6 for an hour, great!!!
Highly recommended :)
This is the gem of the Wisconsin State Park System!
Every year when my boyfriend Dave and I make the trek up here, we stop and buy a yearly pass for $35. This allows us to go in and out of the park as many times as we please and the money goes to keeping this gorgeous state park open. In my mind it's a win win situation.
The park itself has wonderful bike paths and hiking trails. My favorite trail to hike on is the Eagle Trail. It's a two mile loop and is labeled as their most difficult trail. I like this one because in certain areas there are these amazing clearings that allow you to look over the lake and take scenic pictures.
I would also recommend climbing up the Eagle Tower. This tower is 75 feet tall and in the time it takes to walk up and down, you have climbed 220 stairs total. Talk about a workout! Plus, the view from that height is just beautiful. However, if it's a windy day, please be careful!
Finally, I really enjoy watching the sunset from the Sunset Trail. The overlook provides an amazing view, which words cannot describe. I will be uploading my pictures soon, so be on the look out, and you too can share the beauty and wonder of this state park.

The best of the many state parks i've been to. It has everything you could ask for. In the summer there's Nicolet Bay for hanging on a nice beach. On beach you can rent kayaks, bikes, get a cone, anything you want. You have miles and miles of biking trails for both the casual cruiser and some really fun, more intense options for mountain bikers. The hiking trails are excellent and if you're into trail running, the entire park is your playground. You also have American Folklore Theatre, which is highly recommended.
Growing up, my family and I would camp 2-4 weeks a summer in either Nicolet Bay or Tennison, and I loved it. We have a place in Fish Creek now but the park is still the focus of our time in Door County.
In fall, the leaves are beautiful. In winter, you have miles of cross country skiing trails and a nice sledding hill.
I'm not exaggerating when i say it's one of my favorite places on earth. It's rejuvenating.
I went here for my very first camping trip. I have to say it was fun. Since I had nothing else to compare it to it gets 3 stars.
Now as to the experience. The camp grounds around me were all full up. Very little privacy where I was at. Lots of kids running (or biking) every where. This is probably a great place for families than couples or young adults.
I recently attended this park, it was affordable as a full day pass was only $7.00! Or you could buy a pass for the whole season for $25.00. This park consisted of many bike trails, beaches, and camping sites. Also you could have the opportunity to take a tour of a historic lighthouse for only $4.00! I attended Nicolette Beach. There were tons of people there and it consisted of open areas, volleyball courts and even boat/kayak rentals were available. There was a gift shop and place to eat (nachos, hot dogs, ice cream, soda) and I very much so enjoyed the beach! :)
Great park for hiking and biking. Sunset trail (if it's still around) was always my favorite growing up. A beautiful ride the whole way through, culminating in a fantastic view.
3,700 square acres, this park is the the number one most visited State Park in Wisconsin. Although the camping can get crowded the park itself is wonderfully varied and expansive. 18 miles of hiking a 9,7 mile family bike trail and at least 8 miles for mountain bikes. Nearly 20 miles of quiet paved roads.
Simply a wonderful state park along the Door County coast.
Year-round delight. In the Spring we've enjoyed gentle short loop hikes and a climb to the top of the tower. In Winter, a great place for cross-country skiing. There is a beach in the park, and bike rental available, although late April was still too early in the year to take advantage of these amenities. While I have not tried any of these myself, there are paved and gravel bike paths and several mountain bike paths. Good spot for a variety of short hikes, and some fresh air. Campgrounds available as well.
If you do not take advantage of the great Wisconsin State Park system, you are missing out on one of the best features of Wisconsin. Peninsula is one of the best Wisconsin State Parks out of a bunch of great state parks. In the summer, camping is very popular, so if you go on a busy weekend, you better have a reservation. If you do not camp, Peninsula offers a just about anything you could want for outdoor activities. You have hiking, biking, beaches, boating, besides camping. You also have one of the best golf courses in Door County. The lookout tower offers a great view and well worth the long climb. Eagle Bluff Lighthouse is worth the stop in summer (a hike in winter, but worth it) and take the tour of the lighthouse. Peninsula State Park requires a Wisconsin State Park sticker. Buy one and then visit some of the other state parks in Door County or Wisconsin. Door County has the most state parks of any county in the nation, so you have a lot to see.
Great looking beach, but very windy. Nice views(go up the tower or stay for sunset). Beach was sandstone.
