Free food is the best. And with every lunch deal at a Chinese restaurant, you usually get a soup and an egg roll. Here, not only do you get the soup and the egg roll, you also get a small chicken tender.
The egg roll and chicken tender is fried fresh. I always stop here because I *love* that chicken tender. I'm a sucker for free sides, and nothing is as yummy as that juicy lightly fried piece of chicken.
They have good lunch specials too -- the "Americanized" dishes for the lunch specials are really good -- sweet and sour pork and orange chicken are pretty darn tasty. And then every so often you see big Chinese groups. I was part of one once, and we ordered the sesame pie which is carbohydrate overload and the fish with hazelnuts or some sort of nuts.

Lately I've had a problem with going to places I've never been before, and having awkward experiences and not being able to order what I wanted. This was one. Sure, we hit lunch at a kind of early time (11am-ish), but we were the only 2 people in the place. The staff outnumbered us probably 3:1, and they enjoyed watching us eat. Yeah...yeah.
The food was pretty good though. Minus one star because I wanted the handmade noodles and they didn't have handmade noodles...but if they're handmade, why not just handmake them to order? *sigh*, maybe I just have high standards. So I went the boring route and got the lo mein (probably the first time I've eaten it since high school)...and it was pretty darn good. As an appetizer the spicy szechuan dumplings (if that's really what theyr'e called) are very good. hot but not unbearable, good texture...yummy.
And order the green tea. Normally you get a pot and a cup and you pour and drink. Which is cool and all but their teapots are CLEAR. and their green tea does not come from bags - no, they boil the loose leaves and you get to see the green tea leaves floating around in your teapot as it brews on your table. Coolest green tea ever. And it totally cured my headache, which is an amazing feat to accomplish.
Dark, and odd fake vines and what not around the place. I'm sure they do banquets and things here, and that's probably why. Either way it's just a little odd.
