THE GIST: Yummy Chinese Food and CHEAP!
OVERALL: We love coming here because it's close to where our family lives and it's deliciously convenient..not that many great tasting Chinese food places in Chino Hills after all.. so we love stopping by here often!
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1) BEEF NOODLE SOUP: this is a classic Taiwanese dish that we get almost every time we come. Beef base soup, noodles ( we like thick noodles!), and a couple chunks of beef. Feel free to share with friends so you can eat other things as well cuz it's a big bowl.
2) SHIAO LONG BAO (little steamed pork buns): this is another dish we get almost every time we come. This place makes this dish perfectly. We've tried shaio long baos in many different restaurants and this place is one of our fav places to eat it.
3) THE RICE DISH WITH THE FATTY PORK SLICE: Not sure what it's called on the menu.. but for those of you who do love a well marinated and soft piece of pork meat with pork fat attached to the top of it, with picked mustard leaves, a boiled soy sauce-y flavor egg, some vegetables over rice, we high recommend this.. We think the description may have just scared you away from the dish, but trust us.. the flavor is DELICIOUS.
4) PIG EAR: This is located in the litle fridge to the right side of the counter.. you can grab one and ask them to charge you.. or ask for one and they should bring one to you. This isn't JUST pig ear.. it's marinated and stewed.. great flavor.... you gotta be a pig ear lover though.. you know.. the cartilage crunch with slight soft skin. ;) .
SERVICE: We're pretty sure this place is family owned. It's the same staff for the past couple of years and has that family owned feeling. Service is good enough, nothing outstanding or worth mentioning.
Whenever I'm in the Chino/Pomona area, I hope its around lunch/dinner time because I love coming here.
My favorite dishes here are:
- Beef noodle soup
- Cold noodles with sesame sauce and chicken
Drinks like milk tea are 1.00 to 1.50 when you order food. If you haven't been here, I highly recommend it. Great food at a great price.
This is one of our regular spots in Chino Hills. There aren't too many good chinese food around here and I think this is one of the more decent ones. I always come here for the Beef Noodle Soup and my fiance will get the Chicken Rice dish. Portion sizes are great and the prices are super affordable! Taste of food is above average, although it's nothing too special =). Come here with fair expectations and you'll leave happy!
I like this place. But I don't think it is fair to evaluate this place against other Chinese resturant....because, to my opinion, they are not Chinese style. To me, this is more of a Taiwanese food place, rather than Chinese food..... Besides the classification. I like their noodle. Their noodle has this homemade taste...yummy.
Go here often for pork chop rice. For five bucks you can't go wrong. Food is pretty good, drinks are cheap -- a great alternative to McDonalds at the price point.
So they have a sticker on their window right above their menu saying "people love us on yelp!" Based on 10 reviews before I'm writing mine, it doesn't look like love to me and I ask myself where is the love?

But what is it about Peking Deli that I like? I order the combination fried rice all the time. It's good enough to be a meal in itself. It's not the greatest but just with an order of this, I'm good to go. The only problem I have with it is they put too many peas and it's supposed to come with shrimp, beef and chicken. It looks more like chicken fried rice with pieces of shrimp and beef. On this particular trip, my mom wanted noodles so we ordered fried pork chop soup with thin noodles. It was OK too.

Regarless of the things I don't like ... I keep coming back because the people who work here are ALWAYS very nice and the service is fast and friendly. I usually order to go but when we do decide to eat here, the place is very clean and neat ~ they have a "A" rating displayed on the window. The food is good, the service is great and prices are reasonable so I keep coming back .... as long as I keep craving fried rice.
Only suggestion to the owners is to offer lunch specials on the weekends also ... just charge a little more if it's a problem for you to offer these lunch specials on the weekends too.
Alright, I just got to vent on this. Close at 8:30pm? Are you freaking kidding me?! 8:30 is too freaking early, why don't ya'll just close at 8, and make it more convenient for all of us.
My first trip I was here, I got the Pork Chop Rice. It's blehhh, whatever. It's usual which is Deep Fried Pork Chop, with tea stewed egg and tofu, veggies over rice with some gravy. You don't get much like other places do. But hey, maybe it's because it's far away from the likes of Rowland Heights and SGV, can't complain much.
One star for closing way too early and lagging in performance.
The most authentic Chinese restaurant in Chino Hills, comparable to places in Monterey Park, Alhambra or Hacienda Heights. On any given day, you'll find the place full of Chinese patrons - a very good sign.
I've been here twice now and my favorite dish, so far, is the Fried String Beans w/ Seasoned Salt ($6.25) - the best Chinese style string beans I've ever had. Pan fried with white pepper, salt, chili pepper and very little oil. Comes out with a crisp texture - very delicious.
If you dig noodle soups, you can find a good selection here for a reasonable price. The highest they get is $5.50. I've had the Shredded pork w/ preserved vegetable in noodle soup ($4.75). A generous helping of fresh noodles with crunchy veggies (how can "preserved" vegetables taste that fresh?), strips of pork served in a large bowl of delicate but tasteful broth.
Some of the pan fried stuff is average - the Fried Rice Cake ($4.95-$5.50, depending on what kind of meat you want with it) is passable, as is the Tofu in Brown Sauce. Not knock-you-on-your-arse-awesome, but not knock-your-arse-out bad either.
Their menu consists of 109 items so you can keep coming to this place for quite some time without ordering the same thing twice. If you do come (which you should, if you live in Chino Hills) try to take somebody who can read Chinese - there are a few entries entirely in Chinese that might be worth your while to try.
Peking Deli opened about two years ago and has been a hit among my coworkers ever since. We used to make at least one trip out there every week.
Their pork and bamboo shoots are to die for.
Their mapo tofu is like nothing I've ever tasted. The pork sauce is practically disintegrated and melts in your mouth.
Their beef noodle soup is slightly disappointing. I've had better in Monterey Park at Mandarin Noodle House.
Their pork with preserved vegetable noodle soup is awesome.
Always request handmade noodles when ordering noodle soup.
The downside is that the quality of food varies throughout the week depending on who is cooking. Sometimes the food is more garlicky (which I like) and sometimes it is missing garlic completely.
But in Chino Hills, this is the best chinese restaurant you can find.
Gotta agree with the others...I've been getting take out from this place since they opened and never failed to satisfy! I'm not a fan of "Americanized" Chinese food I love the authentic ones in Rowland Heights and this by far is the best place in Chino Hills!
Me and my brother always get the Rice with Mixed goodness in Gravy for Lunch ( I don't know what its exactly called... ) it about $5.00 only! for two people!
Love this place and you will love it too!
Minus one star... the onion cakes are too tough to eat.
Good Place To Dine~
It is not your ordinary fast food place~
The quality of food is great~
The authenticity of the Chinese flavor is quit decent, as well!!
Both Dine-In and Take-Outs, are popular for the locals....
The quality + quantity are great! and the price is decent.
Chino Hills. Besides the hundreds of chain restaurants, its not really known as a staple for good dining. But Peking deli is a little hidden gem in this area.
Peking deli is a nice little Mandarin Chinese restaurant. I don't think its worth driving from far away to eat here, but if you're around the area is a definite must try. The place is family owned and operated I believe. Nothing fancy about this place, its small and clean. The green onion pancakes are pretty good and the beef noodles are excellent. Try them with the thick noodles if that's your thing. Everything else I've had here has all been very good.
Very authentic Chinese food (Taiwanese style) in Chino hills!
They have a very long menu so that there are many things to choose from. The place is kinda small but it was okay, they are really doing their best to chat with the customers and serving the food as fast as they could.
I have to say the food is great (better than the one in Walnut), and they have great price too!
i think the only thing that's bad (for me) is that they close MONDAY!!!(it's really not like I can remember that, and sometimes I am so sure that I want something from them and it's monday!)
nothing to call the homeland about, but a great place to get super homey taiwanese food.
the handpulled thick noodles in their soups were just the right chewiness, xiaolong bao were comforting but lacking a little on the soup, and their dumplings were caringly handmade.
honestly, it's probably on the bland side for non-taiwanese people, but oh-so-familiar for those who are.
this use to be the only place in my area that had real taiwanese food. we use to come here alot so that we wouldnt have to drive all the way to rowland heights.
price is good, and you can get everything from dumplings to beef noodle soup. the staff here is always very nice. its kind of hidden, but you do see quite a few of the locals here. with more and more of these little eateries popping up in chino hills, im not sure how well theyve been doing though.
Authentic Chinese food that reminds me of my Grandma's cooking. The portions and price are excellent, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is casual and comfortable. The service is great too. I eat here at least once a week and would eat here more often if I didn't live in LA. One downside is that their hours are so short! Lunch hours are 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and dinner is 5 to 8:30 pm, closed on Mondays.
Love the spicy beef noodle, combination gravy rice, pan fried leek dumplings, and noodles with spicy ground pork sauce (though the level of spiciness can be inconsistent). There are plenty of other dishes on the menu that I have yet to try, so I plan to return often.
I always eat lunch whenever I visit my bf at work. The food is cheap, even cheaper than Panda Express. I spend my lunch here eating pork chop over rice. I always add tons of chili sauce, just because I can't eat if my food is not spicy. Other things that I like here too:
- Xiao Long Bao (almost as good as Din Tai Fung)
- Combination rice
- Orange chicken with rice
- Green Onion Pancake
- The tofu cold appetizer (never know what the name is)
A friend of mine travelled from Northridge all the way here just to have the combination rice, pork chop, and xiao long bao..
I think this place is a really good place in Chino area if you do not want to travel to SGV. The food tasted good and price is good. Service is good too.
