I am writing the review in the restaurant. Owner appears to be Taiwanese, and is very nice to the customers. Food is pretty good, and the best part is the atmosphere - dark enough to make you feel comfy but ain't dirty or beat up at all.
After driving 40 min searching for Chinese food, I can't think of anything else to say but just give them 4 stars for saving me from starving to death.

On the side note, to demonstrate the atmosphere, this place has served a few movies for taking shots. (even though you may not even know the movies..) But yes, it is a pretty nice place.

The BEST!!  We go to Peking (not to be confused with New Peking in Westport), weekly.  Everything is fresh, although she could kick up the heat a bit.  The restuarant is an awesome 80s cliché Chinese restuarant, but always is empty.  That being said we do carryout early Sunday evening.  Try the sizzling rice soup or the orange beef.  And check out her "media" wall when you stop in.  It tells about her Kansas City history, the people that have visited and some movies that used her restaurant in a few scenes.

Its a hole in the wall with really good food. If you want good authentic Asian food you can't expect a fancy place. It has festival Chinese lanterns hung up on the ceiling. A pretty dark ambulance.   It reminds me of a typical china town restaurant that you can find all over the big cities like NYC, LA, and SF. I suggest the best time to come here is for lunch.  Its pretty cool that there is a restaurant such as this in the middle of the Midwest that is not really known for their ethnic food. I came here for lunch one Friday afternoon  with my parents. The menu is very simplified Chinese food. We ordered fried shrimp and pan fried dumpling appetizers to share. I had a great lunch portion lomain that came with an eggroll and a cup of wonton soup. My parents each also had and appetizer and a entree and ice teas all around and it cost us $35.  Not only its reasonable it is the best Chinese food I had so far in the Midwest.

Our waitress was very friendly older Chinese lady that was pretty talkative. She said that they do most of their business on take out. They have been in business for over 22 years. So not much as changed in the decor. There were over half a dozen orders picked up while we were there and we were not eating at 2pm (normal time).  We would defiantly go here again if I am in town.

I don't know what restaurant Mr. Adventure went to, but this place was just not up to his hype! My husband and I went here for dinner and the place was empty on a Thursday night, except for one couple eating at a booth and a couple of other people waiting to pick up their orders. It was dark in here and the wood paneling on the walls made it look like it hasn't been updated since the 1970s.

There was only one woman working, and she was trying her best to wait on tables and the counter at the same time. My husband ordered the orange chicken, but what we got was chicken nuggets covered in an orange-colored, gelatinous sauce. The triple delight that I ordered was much better -- lots of meat and vegetables stir-fried well. The sauce, however, was bland and lackluster.

If you're looking for Chinese food in the popular Westport area, try again.

New Peking may be the best Chinese restaurant in KC. The service is very good, the prices are reasonable and the food is great.  I'm a fan of their steamed dumplings and they have pretty good pad thai.  My wife and I have eaten here on a weekly basis and have never had a bad experience.

After trying Peking, I rarely bother with other chinese restaurants now. The food is fresh, inspired, reasonable and the decor fun. Have yet to try every thing on the menu. The food is not heavy, while being just as flavorful. Wish I lived closer so I could get a take-out order of hot-and-sour soup whenever the mood struck me. This is a GREAT neighborhood restaurant!

This is the last Chinese restaurant in Kansas City that still makes Crab Rangoons and Eggrolls from scratch. These two homemade items are amazing; crispy, tasty, and not greasy unlike most restaurants. My favorites things from this restaurants are the appetizers, the other dishes are very delicious too. This is my favorite hometown Chinese restaurant.
