8 reviews for Peet's Coffee & Tea
We stopped here on 2nd Saturday for some ice tea.
I got the Sencha green tea and my friend ordered the Jasmine Fancy green tea. Strong but I like!
We sat on the outside patio and it was the perfect place to people watch.
Peet's is good stuff. Definitely better than starbucks. I always get black coffee with cream and Peet's is pretty good. Very strong. It's rarely burned like the starcrap. I also like their white mocha. If you need some good coffee don't hesitate to come to Peet's.
Also, if you have time you should try out Temple and Naked Lounge if you want to support local, but if you are in a rush, don't be afraid to stop by Peet's!
I used to work in midtown and while this was a bit of a walk from my office (especially considering how many other coffee shops were around), when I had the time I'd come here for a cup of coffee or tea. I've never been to a bad Peet's location and this is no exception. They always have great drinks, good service and everything just seems a bit better quality than Starbucks. I mean c'mon, they have fresh nutmeg graters and simple syrup at all their stores - you can't beat that!
Their peppermint tea is my favorite and one time at this location I lucked out - they only had 1 bag left so I got mine for free!
Peet's.
I grew up getting coffee with my Mom at the original on Vine St in Berkeley.
I used to work for the "green mermaid," for cryin' out loud, and even then, what'd we go out to as a store? Peets.
Those who rate Peets as burned should stick with their Folgers. For those of us who know better, we return, baited by the nectar of the bean.
Thank you, baristas of Peets for having some personality, and not being bland and homogenized (in a band? Awesome. Tatts, nice ink- who's your artist? Student? Good luck on your test! Hair dye -looks good). This store is great- definitely getting busier, but still retaining its service quality.
And it has the bay area pastries, which is a huge plus (oh, yeah, by the way, do me a favor and leave me ONE banana-blueberry muffin, please? Pretty please?).
I'm a straight up, unapologetic coffee drinker, and this place is the only one that can really satisfy - well, okay, Naked coffee is pretty good too, but other than that, nobody measures up, and I've tried them all- even went up to Oregon to the "infamous" land of coffee, and you know what? Crap compared to Peets.
Thank you for not expanding too fast and compromising your quality. It's just as good as when I was young, heading to Vine St for a pound of Arabian Mocha Java with my momma.
Cheers!
Peet's finally hits my side of Midtown, and it's about time! I have been reluctantly patronizing the Starbuck's on 19th & J now and again, because it's a helluva convenient location in my neighborhood. But I no longer need to settle for that swill whilst bopping down J Street.
There's nothing like the power punch of Peet's caffeine-laced goodness to cure a weekday hangover from hitting one too many at the local dive bars. Peet's saved my happy ass on the way to work just recently, and for that I thank him.
Glad to see cool new businesses moving into the MARRS building on 20th & J Streets. I might just check out the other fine establishments here after administering the proper roundhouse kick to my Corpus Callosum... courtesy of Peet's!
I don't like chains - even small chains, although Peet's is by no means a small chain. And certainly Old Soul makes coffee that is just as good, with the benefit of the profits of the venture staying IN sacramento, rather than exiting immediately.
However, judged solely as a chain, and compared to other chains, there isn't anything better then Peet's. I grew up near the original shop at Walnut Square in Berkeley and spent many hours there as a kid, waiting in line with my parents, and later as a young adult. Unfortunately, they seem to be trying to out-do Starbucks as far as ambience and spinoff items go, but the coffee ... the coffee... it's real good. Yummy, even. Yummy coffee, need now.
I am a certified caffeine junky. One summer I tried to quit the stuff and I'm pretty certain I turned into a crazed b*tch. Have you ever seen that movie Heathers? Well, on more than one occasion I recall my then boyfriend quoting the line, "Why do you have to be such a mega-bitch?" I still blame the lack of caffeine for that brutal breakup! I guess I'm just grateful that he didn't try to serve me a wake-up cup of liquid drainer...but I digress.
The point I'm making here is that I'm back on caffeine and will be until my dying breath. Imagine my excitement when this Peet's opened directly across from my office. Before I even think about stepping into my office, I swing by and order my favorite caffeinated bevy - a medium, soy latte!
The baristas are always super nice, especially Terra Lopez (of local indie-electro outfit the Evening Episode). The coffee is always good, especially Major Dickason. And, while I like to think I'm never a crazed b*tch, I know for sure the coffee at Peet's certainly keeps those scary occasions to a minimum.
I don't know if it's my unsophisticated pallet or just my confused orientation but i can't seem to decide which is better - Pete's strong flavor or starbuck's siren's milder flavor. or so my coworker says. he also suggest the much more intriguing naked coffee at the naked lounge.
