I came here for a work dinner and while the place is fun, the food was disappointing apart from the chips and salsa.  The service was also spotty and not very attentive.  One of colleagues got her meal about 5-10 minutes after we were all served.  We all ordered at the same time.  She also ordered a friend ice cream, which was entirely cold.  They didn't adjust it on the bill, which was not cool.

Went here today for a work lunch... it was ok...

It's pretty tough around here for mexican restaurants to really be able to differentiate... and at the same time... pretty hard(at least in my book) for sit-down places to hold a hand over the tacquerias around here.

This is ok food... nothing great...  good service... decent food...  probably around $10/plate for lunch or so plus drinks.

Plenty of parking however, and that's a good sign for here.  busy centers like Mountain View Castro St and Murphy St in Sunnyvale can't really compete with that.

The 2 biggest draws of this restaurant are: 1)  Sunday brunch buffet and 2) happy hour.

For $25 or so you get all you can eat hot Mexican food, omelettes that you create yourself (they cook it for you while you wait), waffles that you create yourself, salads, desserts and all you can drink mimosas!  Not a bad deal!  There is also a mariachi band that goes from table to table singing their hearts out!

We frequent this for family birthdays, anniversaries, etc., because they can always accommodate large groups.

Happy hours are always a blast with a group of friends or coworkers.  Seating in the bar area can be limited, especially towards the end of the week.  The last time I came for happy hour there were free appetizers.  It's been over a year since I've been here for happy hour, so I don't know if the freebies are still offered.  But they always have drink specials posted...

I've also been here for lunch and dinner on several occasions, and I've always had good service during dinner.  The staff is always friendly and accommodating, though they can get leisurely with other patrons and forget to bring you the bill.  The few times I've been here for lunch the service was ok, usually on the passive side.  They take orders right away, but you usually have to flag them down to get the bill.

I prefer the dinner menu over the lunch menu.  The lunch menu tends to be skimpier for the amount you pay.  Although they consider their food authentic they cater to the American palate, so the food is not spicy enough for me. I tend to ask for extra salsa and hot sauce.

I love this Pedro's for many reasons.

It's a great place to throw a dinner party, whether it's in the main dining room with the fireplace or upstairs in one of the private banquet rooms.  While I was in college back in the day, I threw a surprise birthday party here in the main dining room for a special someone, and he did so likewise in one of the private rooms.  Service staff is always friendly and know what needs to be done so you can have one helluva party!

I met up with a couple cousins for happy hour today and that's just another reason to love this place so much.  Beginning at 4 pm, $3 margaritas, $3 well drinks, $13 margarita pitchers.  There's complimentary lasagna, enchiladas, beans and chips with salsa.  Beginning at 6 pm, appetizers are half-off.  Happy hour ends at 7 pm, so be sure to get there a little before 6 pm to snag a table.  It can get pretty packed.  The happy hour crowd here is a bit older.  They have plenty of screens so you can catch your favorite sports team in action.

The restaurant is beautiful inside and out.

I'll always love Pedro's!

It's like a court yard inside. Nice architecture. Every time I passed there, I saw a lot of cars parking outside.
Finally I went there with coworkers. My shrimp dish is OK. It's $18. Nothing special about the food. Probably because I'm not a big fan of Mexican food. Only the ambiance is good.

We went here for a retirement lunch.  There were 54 of us and they did ok  on service, though the completely forgot to make 1 lunch and she had to box it up & have it to-go because it took so long.

They had a special menu for the large group.  Everything was $17 which included food, drink, tax & tip.

I got the chile verde-not a lot of meat, boring beans & rice.  Got 3 flour tortillas to eat them with.  Just ok.

Co-worker got beef enchilada which was just 1 w/ beans & rice.  Highway robbery I tell u.  Just 1 stinkin' enchilada!! that's crazy.  Plus it wasn't even that good.

Don't know how the chicken burrito tasted, but it looked good.  1 big burrito plus rice & beans.

FREE chips & salsa given right away.  Salsa was tasty enough, I didn't try the chips.  Drinks w/ our special menu was just soda, lemonade, or iced tea.  Iced tea was boring, lemonade not much better.

Bathrooms up in the front -separate mens & womens.  Toothpicks up at the front too w/ mint candy.

I don't recommend it.  Mostly for the Gringos.  Way over priced & boring tasting food.

I've only been to Pedro's twice...and last night was my second visit after a year.  The both times I've dined at Pedro's with my db we used an Entertainment book coupon worth $14.00. We probably sat at the same table too. hahaha.

I really like the chips and salsa, it's pretty good here.  Chips are not too thin or too thick, they are just right. The dip isn't too spicy or too mild. Just the way I like it. I can see myself coming back just to grab a drink and eat chips and salsa.

I ordered the beef fajitas and they came out sizzling. My first thought was that it was a generous portion.  It had bell peppers, tomatoes, onions...ooooh it was so good! too bad I ate too much chips and salsa. I had to take 2/3 of it home.  My db ordered the pollo con crema. I thought it had good flavor and the chicken wasn't dry. It was good.

Service was spot on.  Our server was very attentive, so was the chips, salsa and water guy.  We never had to ask for refills of anything.

I'm stil amazed of the size of that place. It's huge!

I came here once with two friends. The ambiance is nice, but the food was mediocre. My friends didn't like their dishes, but I really enjoyed mine (Chicken Tropical) - hence the two stars. I tasted theirs and had to agree with them. I think everything tastes better with mango salsa, so I'm glad I chose that entree. I love tortilla soup and didn't get a chance to try it out. I might return here just to order that. Also, I plan on coming back for happy hour, so I'll update this review as soon as I do either one of those.

I'm suprised a lot of people don't like this place. The Crab Enchilada was delicious. Plus they have a great happy hour with free appetizers. The only reason I didn't give Pedro's 5 stars is that the food/drinks/ambiance are good, but nothing knocks your socks off.

Nice Outdoor Feel to it. We just went for Happy Hour and Apps so I can't say I know what the real food tastes like. The apps were mediocre but the Margaritas were good!

The host/hostess did not want to let us sit outside for some reason, so we asked a waitress in the bar area to serve us out there and she did. They did forget one of our apps though until we reminded them. I'll give this another chance before I drop em.

Come to Pedro's! (in a very sexy spanish accent)

Haha..anywho, So the walking inside the restaurant is very cute, the courtyard is so nice, with the fountain and then inside they replicate that with the inside fountain and sunlight streaming through all these great windows, and they have all these different rooms, its really nice. Its a cute place to have a b-day party. Very authentic mexcian-y cantina-ish.

The waiter was so attentive, but then go toooo damn attentive and kept coming by like every 2 seconds, but i don't knwo if totally hated that or thought it was cute....after 30 times i thought it was annoying, even if he had a cute accent.
The margarita i had was awesome, it actually had a lot of alcohol, very nice. The food, was good i ordered the chicken chipotle and it was huge plate of food! It was the best tasting chicken with cheesy plate i have had in a while...spicy, yet sort of hinting on chocolate...mole style..nice.
My boyfriend on the other hand ordered chile verde, which was half my plate, and wished he had ordered my dish. His was quite good, but not as "chile" as one might thought..i can make better lets just say. But still good. Not bad.
The one think i despised was the guacamole, it sucked. Runny and not fresh tasting when everything else was so fresh and tasty, liek the chips and salsa and tortillas (which of my i loved!) But the guac ehhh sucked. Damn thats what got the one star knocked off.

But order the Guava margartita, damn good, and the chicken chipotle. gooood.

This place is huge! As the hostess was bringing us to our table the only thing that came to mind was in Oceans 11, Georges Clooneys character (I think) said that the casinos organize it so that you cant find your way out. We walked pretty far and made so many turns that I knew it was going to be a problem finding our way out (and it was). It was no big deal though. I just thought it was strange for a place to be so big. What is good about that is that the place is really spacious. Definitely a good place for large groups.I was a bit concerned because we went on a Friday night and there wasn't alot of people. It may have been due to everyone being so spread out.

As for the food. Its meh...Ordered a cheese enchilada and chile relleno combo for around $13. The enchilada tortilla was hard, (I think they microwaved it too long) and the chile relleno was hard and crusty with ALOT of cheese in the middle. The rice was okay and the beans sucked! I hate cheddar cheese on beans but they would have still sucked even if the cheese wasn't there.

The only thing was impressed with was the Salsa. VERY good salsa! And the chips tasted freshly friend although I had to hook it up with some salt.

Service was good and quick. I would try it again since there was a couple of items on the menu that I wanted to try. The "Tres Pedros" sounds like it would taste good.

UPDATE: I just retrieved my leftovers from Pedros and got a closer examination of my chile relleno and found it to be hard. (Hmmmmm......?) I come to find out that the egg batter they use is close to the consistency of bread. Seriously. I cut open an area where it was all batter and I was looking at Wonder Bread. i want to downgrade them to 2 stars but its hard for me. If I could I would give them a 2.5. Im sure Ill find my way back there just because they do have a large selection. When I do Ill be sure to give another update.

Our lab/section Holiday function was held here on Friday (12/14/2007) and I must say its not a bad place to host a 30-person lunch on a limited budget; we're lab technicians, so we don't get the per capita luxury money the engineers upstairs get, but c'est la vie.

The fixed price menu that was offered to us wasn't extravagant, but the commonplace options (of burritos, enchiladas, tamales, chile Colorado, tostada salads) were filling, in the least.

I have, or course, been here on a number of occasions otherwise (*cough*happyhours*), to which I'm never TOO impressed or enthused.  I actually cannot remember the last time I actually went here to dine.  There is, however, some decent, free happy hour food, but it's difficult to turn a blind eye to the mediocre bar service (and "mediocre" is being generous)...

It should not take the bartender 5 minutes to turn your way and ask you what you'd like.  Nor should it take another 2 minutes to open a bottled beer or draft a tap.  And it should not take almost 8 minutes for a bartender to find a recipe book, seek out [apparently unfamiliar] liquors, measure out shots, and make something as pedestrian as mojitos or long islands.

Prices aren't bad, if you can deal with the idle waiting time.

The decor and location of this Pedro's is actually kind of nice, though, emulating the facade of a Spanish villa.  Centrally located in respect to some powerhouse high-tech firms, the after-work crowd here has a tendency to be some of Silicon Valley's geek-chic.

All in all, not somewhere I willingly go outside of a free lunch, or a Happy Hour attended by a bevy of intelligent, stimulating women...

(I've yet to try the Sunday brunch that comes highly recommended...)

For hours between 5-7:30pm you cant beat the bar area!!!! Thats why this place gets all the stars. -1 for hot dogs?  The dinning area is nice but the food is not Mexican food I will ever crave! Shredded beef or chicken wrapped in a tortilla and the sauces suck! Rice is bland like cardboard. The tortilla soup is an appetizer and half off during HH! THIS ALL ADDS UP TO PERFECT HAPPY HOUR FOOD WITH DRINKS!

Hidden away in a corner of an offstreet of Great America Parkway, is this Mexican styled restaurant., that looks like a big house. Although clearly visible from the freeway (101), it takes some significant effort to actually find the place.

Food is pretty decent. It's much better than your run of the mill El Torito, and I would say it's better than Mexicali Grill nearby. Though, it still can't beat those greasy goodness of the taquerias around. But if you want sit down, to not scare off a potential customer or vendor or something with your face stuffed into a gigantic dripping mess of burrito, here's the place.

My recommendations are the Enchiladas Suiza or Jalisco. Other vegetarian friends of mine also swear by the GIANT vegetarian burrito. It's huge, and dwarfs anything else on the table. Everything's properly seasoned, and tastes pretty good.

The salsa that the free chips come with is SPICY though, so watch out. Though the addition of green onions gives it a nice freshness to it.

-1 on off and on service. The busboys are excellent at what they do - filling waters/sodas and cleaning plates - my diet coke was always full. However, the waiters, you almost have to go up to them to get their attention. We eventually got up and talked to the bartender to have HIM take the orders for our table, because the regular waiter didn't want to take it. Not cool.

3 stars - Food's a 4, but service is spotty, which I would give a 2. Have yet to be back for a happy hour, but decent food nontheless.

So we just celebrated Fresia's birthday with a dinner at Pedro's, and it was the first time I've eaten here.  I didn't even know this restaurant even existed since its on Freedom Circle, a remote area located inbetween commercial buildings.  It's so close to my new office on Great America and Patrick Henry.

My entree was sooo good!  I asked the waiter what he recommended, and he told me to get the Chicken Chipotle.  It was sooo good!!!  But waaay too much food.  I think 2-3 people can eat a single dinner portion here.  My Chicken Chipotle came with a huge, flat piece of grilled chicken with cheese and chipotle sauce on top, black beans, refried beans, seasoned rice, and a tomato/lettuce salad with sour cream on the side.

Anyway, it was a great family style restaurant, all of the party had a ton of fun, and I'm looking forward to eating here again and again and again...

This is a review *only* for the Sunday brunch buffet.  So...  MEXICAN ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT???  Hollaaaa!!!

I remember a time (sniff, sniff) when I was on the East Coast for undergrad and grad school.  Where was the good Mexican food then?  Nothin'.  But then every time I came back to the Bay, it was all about filling up on good Mexican grub!

This place definitely holds its own and we had a very good time.  My oj and water glasses never hit bottom, and neither did those of my companions.  Even though this place is a buffet, service never lacked.

I filled up on very fresh fruit (mmm, papaya...), omelettes to order, separate dessert table, waffles with fruit, enchiladas, etc.  I intended only to eat a bite of my flan and somehow consumed the whole thing.

The live mariachi band was a little intense (i.e. loud) but they had heart.

If not for the danger of serious heartburn every week, I'd be there every Sunday if I could!

I love Pedro's Sunday brunch!  I especially love that it's my bf's parent's brunch spot of choice (and so I never have to pay)--but that's beside the point...

I can be on the verge of drunk before noon.  Pretty impressive, I'd say.  That's because for just under $30 you can choose from a buffet of omelets, waffles, fruit, your traditional Mexican fare (enchiladas, tamales, rice, chile verde, and many others), a dessert bar, and champagne and/or mimosas--all unlimited!

I turn into sort of a glutton when I'm here.

Besides the food (waffles, enchiladas, and tamales with salsa verde are my recommendations), the service is excellent! I always lose track of how many mini glasses of champagne I've had because the glass is never less than half full before it's being refilled again! Plates you're finished with are also cleared away with the quickness.

It's location is right off the freeway but the Spanish villa style of the place makes this a unique restaurant by day or night (an impressive feat).

So, in short, wear your "fat day" pants and enjoy your Sunday Brunch (including live music and booze)!

Pedro's is my favorite restaurant. Their food is delicious and has great variety (which can sometimes be hard to come by in a Mexican food restaurant). I love the design of the restaurant itself and how it resembles an old Mexican hacienda. The staff is always very courteous and quick, and their margaritas are on the stiff side, which I appreciate. :)

Their happy hour is to DIE for! Free food, cheap drinks, and awesome atmosphere every Mon-Fri from 4-7. The place is almost always jammed full with people during this time. I've also heard great things about their champagne brunch on Sundays!

Best nacho's in Bay Area.

I love that they make each chip individual - each chip has it's own mean, it's own beans, it's own cheese, it's own sour cream and guacamole. I love that! I hat that big blob of cheese/chips/meat/peppers. Give me Pedro's nachos any day of the week.

Minus 1 star for guacamole that you re-live for 2 days...but oh so good going down.

Go for the food, not for the service.

Start out with a drink order and they may or may not have your liquor in stock. And that's when you order from the drink menu. Forget about ordering something that isn't on the drink menu. Note: they usually aren't out of beer but premium liquors, cross your fingers.

Load up on lightly salted chips and their fresh salsa while you wait for your drinks. Watch out for the menus: they are bound to be sticky from spilled salsa and soda.

Pick something to eat. Honestly there is nothing bad on the menu. My personal favorite is the Enchiladas Lupe. It's chicken or beef enchiladas with the yummiest sauce ever. Can't decide between beef or chicken? Get a combo.

Your food will come out of the kitchen pretty quickly. Your drink refills will be quick at lunch but not at dinner. Your bar re-orders will not be taken quickly at lunch or dinner. Maybe it's better to sit at the bar if you're thirsty? (never tried that but now that I think about it, it might be a good idea). It takes a while to get the check and to get change or a credit card receipt.

There is usually some kind of coupon on the website, check it before you leave. Also they have free kids meals one weeknight per week. I think it's Wednesdays but not positive.

All in all it's a good place. I just try to make sure I go there when I'm not in a hurry.

I didn't expect the restaurant to be as big as it was.  Too bad the food wasn't as big as the restaurant itself.

The chips and salsa were great.  The meal itself, not so much.  I had the chicken taco and beef enchilada platter.  The chicken was really dry and had no flavor.  The beef enchilada was ok, at best.  The rice and beans were the only things that had flavor.  Either that or it was the Tapatio hot sauce.

The service was really, really slow.

Earlier this century, I worked near Pedro's. And as such, this was a common happy hour destination. This is all well and fine, except half the time getting a drink was a 30 minute ordeal. Seriously, getting people drinks fast means they'll be drinking them, and maybe getting more. Being  slow doesn't make the money. Get with it, Pedro's! The saving grace is the free food. It's not great, but hey, it's free. And their drink deals are pretty good too. That is, if you manage to get a drink.

I had lunch here a couple of times. Very unremarkable, but at least the service was ok. Oh yeah, I never paid for these lunches, so you really shouldn't trust me on this. Plus, as I said, this was a while ago.

I've been to Pedro's before and neither been impressed nor disastified. However, my last experience at Pedro's will be... just that... my LAST. My boyfriend and I went there for lunch in the mid-afternoon, the restaurant seemed fairly slow and quiet. Our waiter acknowledged us with a sense of anger and tension, he continued this attitude our entire meal... not a happy experience. We had taquitos as our appetizer, which seemed fine until the shredded chicken quickly seemed to resemble burnt hair. How angry was our waiter?? Waiting for our entree I noticed an ant crawling across our table... which only makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen. I got a burrito as my entree and nearly gagged as I ate every bite. It tasted nuked... like it had been in a microwave for 10 minutes, it was soggy and greasy. The beans in my entree were runny, I love my refried beans to be more of a thick paste. Overall I was competely dissatisfied with the service and food I found at Pedro's.  I gave Pedro's a chance, but I was greatly disappointed.

I've been here a few times. The service is fairly slow. The portions are too small for what you pay and the taste is underwhelming at best.

Went for dinner.  A surprisingly large restaurant, and while the parking lot was very full, we had no problem getting a table on a Friday evening.  I really like the look of the restaurant.  Olde mission, the only problem is the drab carpeting and perhaps a bit too much space between tables.  Some of the rooms have wood floors, and they look great.

Chips and salsa come immediately.  Ordering was slow, but I didn't mind.  There was a menu to study.  All the expected dishes are on the menu, and they have some specialties as well.  I chose the Chicken Ranchero, grilled chicken in a mushroom-onion-wine-ranchero sauce.  The food came not after too long.  I did notice that some of the food had been sitting, waiting for the other dishes, perhaps.  Even so, it wasn't cold by any means.  The dish I got was great.  The chicken was very well prepared, not dry.  The sauce was great, with chunks of peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, and onions in a slightly creamy wine ranchero.  A relatively unique dish, and very good.  The prices are no different from any other Mexican restaurant in the area.

I've been to Pedro's for both dinner and happy hour. The food is really average. I can't tell you if it is authentic or not (I am definitely not the expert), but I can tell you that it's nothing to rave about.

I have to say, though, that the happy hour is really fun for a group. Cheap drinks, and a free food buffet. You're not going to go broke here (perfect for a college student like me).  If you get there too late though, the food is mostly gone and all that's left is chips, salsa, and chicken bones (no joke). But just a warning for us girls, it can seem like a total meat market... remember, Pedro's is near a bunch of tech companies... creepy middle-aged lonely engineers may be sitting with their drinks just watching you....  Safety in numbers, girls!

We went there for lunch today, the 5 of us. It's Friday, 12PM and we figured out this would be the only place without a huge line. We were right.
We were seated immediately.
We ordered a few dishes from the lunch menu, I took the  fajita tostada, which was pretty much a taco salad with chicken. It was a crunchy tortilla bowl filled with fresh lettuce, cheese, grilled vegetables, sour cream and guacamole.  The vegetables weren't fresh and the beans were terrible. I never went to a Mexican place where the beans were terrible!
We got the food after 40 minutes of course
I must say that our drinks got refilled very quickly.

I won't go back. It cost about $14 pp. Too expensive for a quite bad Mex food

This was my first time at Pedros...I am impressed...not with the food, but with the service.

The staff was very courteous and had a good sense of humor too. I had the fajitas while my girl-friend had the Chile Colorado. The chicken fajitas were good, but i felt they were a bit too dry...The Colorados were good. My girl-friend felt they weren't the best, but i liked its taste. It had a spicy flavour to it, which is unusual in mexican food.

Great chips and salsa.  Great fajita taco salad.  We come here often and have never been disappointed with the food or the service.  We love the brunch especially. We always come for b-days and mother's day.  I had my bridal shower upstairs and although my maid of honor was a little afraid of a couple of the pictures they had as decoration the bridal shower was great and the server that was assigned to us was very attentive.

Wow this place is huge. I should have left bread crumbs on the way to my seat.

Went here for my birthday saturday night and it was pretty empty (probably because of the random location). I'm  not much into mexican food, but I AM a chips, salsa, and margarita whore. Oh and by the way, the regular margarita tastes stronger than the cadillac. Anyhoo, my friends and I had a fun time. They told the waiter it was my birthday and I thought "oh here goes another sombrero picture to add to my collection."

WRONG. They brought out a chocolate mouse w/ whipped cream and a candle-- they sang to me and towards the end of the song my waiter grabs the spoon, scoops up some whipped cream and teases me!!! hahahahahahaha. We all died laughing. Little does he know that it made my night....

I have been to Pedro's a couple times for lunch, and one time for Sunday brunch. Every time I leave I am very impressed. The staff is always very kind and seem to work very hard. The food is good and the prices seem decent. They definitely put  a lot of work into brunch on Sundays. The atmosphere is wonderful and parking is plentiful. An overall great place :)

Great place for a happy hour.... but that's about it.  they have great appetizers to go along with your drinks during happy hour.

The food isn't that good and its pricey for what you get.

I've been going to Pedro's for at least 10 years now. The quality of the food has definitely changed, and not for the better. Taste isn't as great and the portions have definitely shrunk (I usually get the 2-item combo, chicken burrito and beef enchilada) I had brunch there once which was absolutely amazing, although it has been about 5 years since that event so I'm not sure how much that has changed. I still go there once in a blue moon; but I'd go more if the restaurant hadn't changed so much.
