these five stars are dedicated to kim at pearl. one of my favorite human beings! it's such a delight to browse this store while munching on her homemade cookies she brings in.

pearl has a wonderful selection of high end brands, including ag jeans, lacoste, and my personal favorite, neal sperling.

for such a small store, i always find they have each item available in several sizes. a bonus for us size 6-challenged girls!

Update.  Now that they've added Pearl Too...they seemed to have split the two neighboring stores into one more casual and one a little more dressy and a lot more expensive.  $600 sweater anyone??

I'm downgrading Pearl by 2 stars.  What is with all the monotone?  If I'm going to buy a solid color t-shirt, I'll got to H&M and spend a tiny fraction of the price (unless I'm missing something, even $100 t-shirts aren't fade-proof or pit stain impervious).  

The whole point of even walking into a store like this is to find something absolutely amazing and worthy of all the extra cash -- like the Marc Jacobs shirt I got there a couple of years ago.  Technically it is t-shirt material...but it's a more complex design than your typical tee, with an awesome, vibrant pattern.  Something I can wear to work...and I've only ever seen one other person with it on.

So if you're listening Pearl...show me something other than plain vanilla.  I want more designs and patterns I can't find in just any old store, and less gray cords.

I LOVE finding fabulous boutiques like this one outside of SF. Upon entering Pearl, I was greeted and welcomed into the warm and inviting shop. So many cute clothes and accessories to browse through, I'm actually glad they were out of my size in a lot of pieces because I probably would have done a lot of damage in there. They had lovely new pieces from dozens of my favorite lines, includng Diane Von Furstenburg, Phillip Lim, Catherine Malandrino, Vince, Theory, Rozae Nichols, Trina Turk, Marc, denim by AG and Rich & Skinny, Botkier handbags, and jewelry by Viv & Ingrid, Sage, and Melissa Joy Manning. The shop's owner has a background in interior design, so the beautiful shop is filled with luxe fixtures, vintage art and the most unique changing "tents."

It used to be that when I was home visiting my parents in St. Helena I'd be flat broke and saving $$.  Now-due to Pearl-I save up for my trip home!  Downtown St. Helena clothes shopping used to consist of very middle-aged looking weekend wear for the tourists.  
Then came this store...for some reason they get the cutest mix of all my favorite lines.  I've gotten a bunch of DVF here that I've never seen anywhere else.  
The manager Kim is the cutest and most helpful.  She alone livens up the store as if the great collection doesn't sell itself already.  She always remembers me too --which is something you can miss in SF.  I dump my paycheck all over the city--sometimes w/ barely a nod--definitely not bashing city life...but it is the little things sometimes..  Kim remembers what I like, asks about my mom, etc.
You can outfit yourself head to toe here too--they have a few cute bags, shoes, jewelry and panties as well.  I'm definitely saving up for my next trip!
