Being the sometimes-living-years-in-the-past scenester that I am, my memories of this place are all from when it was called Flaps. Same building, different ownership, probably. Friends playing pool in the basement. Interesting things hanging from the ceiling upstairs. People going back and forth from Flaps to the Sundown. Those were the days...and I don't much miss them. I was there briefly with friends recently and it seems so much more normal...less intense somehow.
I'm getting old...that's the bottom line...

A cut above the rest of the bars on Pearl. You can almost always get a table in the basement and you can actually hear yourself think. Prices are good too.

Since moving here from Seattle I hadn't been able to find 'that local bar' that I can relax and chat with whomever I'm seated next to. The PSP is my new place. The prices are right, it has that well lived in feel, and UNBELIEVABLY GOOD food.
After a few drinks (my first time there) I asked the doorman where I should go to get a bite to eat. He responded with "the philly cheese steak is so good here that if you don't like it I'll buy it from you and eat it myself."
Enough said.

If the walls could talk I figure they wouldn't remember me because there are alot of people that come and go from this pub. I went here alot. They had stiff drinks and a great waitstaff. Many of whom I befriend over the years.
I used to go for the pub quiz which consisted of ordering a drink and then getting asked a trival pursuit question. If answered correctly the drink was free (minus the tip of course).
I got very wasted here many tuesdays when they played the quiz. If you give them the secret sign I bet they will pull the questions out from under the bar and do one for old time sake.

Pearl Street Pub and Cellar is located in the Pearl Street Mall at the cross street of Pearl and 11th. It is right next door to Old Chicago's, one spot down from the southwest corner.
My co-workers described this place as having the best cheeseburger in all of Colorado. Quite an impressive claim, which I had to validate for myself.
First, a little bit about the place. Pearl Street Pub is split into in two levels, with a small sized bar on the top level, and another bar downstairs. The bar downstairs has limited seating, but does offer patrons a multitude of games including Foosball, darts, and pool. A fine selection of bar games! Supposedly, this place serves a full food menu later than any other bar in Boulder, keeping the grill fired up and serving food until 1:30 AM.
I believe there is live music every Wednesday night, although apparently you can find a lively crowd here every night of the week. You can tell this place has a loyal base of regulars, but I did not get the feeling that a new comer would be unwelcome.
Anyways, back to the food. Not only is this place supposed to have the best cheeseburger in all of CO, but on Tuesday, they offer their excellent Cheeseburger with pub fries for only $4.50. Let me repeat, a 1/2 pound angus burger with french fries for four bucks and fifty cents!
To top it off, they offer pints of all beers on tap for $2.50 all day long!
I ordered the cheeseburger and a cold pint and the total came to a whopping $6.50.
I was truly impressed. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium rare, which I did not even have to specify. I say perfect because it was pink through-out with out being too rare and bloody. The burger was seasoned nicely, and the condiments were fresh and plentiful. Even the bun was tasty and nicely toasted.
The fries came with both salt and pepper, my personal favorite way to eat them. It was a struggle, but I managed to finish the burger.
In conclusion, if you find yourself on Pearl Street on a Tuesday, check this place out, you will not be disappointed. Whether or not it is the best cheeseburger in CO I can not say, but I am willing to bet it is the best, or at least one of the best, cheeseburgers you can find for under $5. It sure as hell beats any fast food restaurant or burgers that cost twice as much.
I held off on giving it five stars only because I have no idea what anything else on the menu is like, and whether or not the bar is a cool place at night. Regardless, I see many more Tuesday 1/2 pound angus burgers in my future at this place!

Unpretentious, mellow, cheap, divey, loud, bad music, prefect for a night of pool and darts when you don't want to get dressed nice and you're broke!

In 1997, my friend Marko and I were traveling around the country. We ended up in Boulder for a few days--my first visit to the city. Both foosball junkies, and alcoholics, we were looking for a place where we could feed both addictions. We set up shop at the Pearl Street Pub and Cellar for days.
When I moved to Boulder 6 months later, I revisited the bar, and have been there hundreds of times over the years. So many times, in fact, that I don't know which memories to call up.
Let's see: There was the work party where we drank Black Velvets all night... The time I met with an ex-girlfriend I hadn't seen in years and we made out in one of the basement's many cubby holes... The time I made out with one of my best friends... The excellent pool games in the back room of the upstairs... The hilarious men's bathroom that seems to have been an old freezer at some point... The night I played foosball and drank until closing then woke up with Bell's Palsy the following morning... All those Trivia Tuesday questions I answered to earn free beers!
So, yeah, go to this place. Just duck your head in the basement.

The Pearl Street Pub and Cellar is just one of the numerous, numerous bars in Boulder. Now what sets the Pub apart from other bars is that it is actually a pretty cool place - not too crowded - to hang out in as compared to other shit-holes (technical term) like the Scum Downer, Walrus, or Reef; the beer is cheap on tap, the place is cozy, and the bi-level and adequate outdoor seating is definitely a plus in terms of accommodation.
Anyway, I've been here a few times and was taken here by a date once to play darts (downstairs, next to the foosball tables and across from the small pool table), who is now my loving girlfriend. The downstairs even has its own bar, which is cool.
The food is solid as well as Sam H has noted. I got the garden burger which was quite good, as were the fries.
In fact you know what? I was going to give this place 4 stars but after writing this review I realize this place really deserves its 5th star when put into comparison with all the other bars around.
So check this place out....it is so much better than Old Chicago, seriously.

The bar that looked best on Pearl St to me and my coworkers so we visited on 2 of the nights we were in town. The first night some drunk college girls were being lifted up to kiss the buffalo on the wall - I suspect this is a frequent occurrence.
The second time we merely started our drinking here before moving on to the Sundown, which we had shunned the first night out because the music was too loud for talking.
Nothing that special about this bar, but we had fun here. :)
