Although I think the drinks are way overpriced, you're paying for a special view. I used to work at this hotel (8 floors above the bar!) and I still like to go back when I want a quiet drink without the club atmosphere in most of downtown. There isn't much food to speak of, so it's best to eat elsewhere before popping in.
But, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for a great memory at Peaks: this is where I got engaged. For that, I will always love it :)
Certainly one of the coolest destinations in Denver to grab a drink, Peaks Lounge is a beautiful place to enjoy a cocktail on the 27th Floor of the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Denver.
It's hard to pull yourself away from this place considering how relaxing it is and how the view can put you in a trance, so I recommend you have dinner reservations elsewhere or something scheduled after visiting here so that you are FORCED to get up and leave!
There's nothing like having a martini and taking in the stunning view of the City with the Rocky Mountains off in the background. The next time that I am in town, I will be sure to go here for a drink whether I am staying at the Hyatt or not!
I hate to start this like everyone else, but WHAT A VIEW!!! It was my first time in Denver, and this was the hotel our conference was at, and if you have ever been to conference before, all you really want after a day of schmoozing is a nice glass or wine....and what makes that better? A view of all of downtown Denver of course!
The waitress we had however, was not the nicest of people, and she, despite that the bar was definitely closer to be empty than full that night, seemed to be rushing us. Maybe it was because all three of use didn't order a drink, but two of us did, and really without your pushing, I may have gotten a second drink....so you lost out on that sale. And while I'm venting, you should learn how to smile too. It takes more muscles to frown you know.
Her aside, my wine was good, although most are pricey on their drink menu, and they do have some bar small plates of food you can order here up to a certain time. But come here for their leather chairs and a glass of wine, and just sit and look out at all of the city lights. This place has no cover, but watch out for bad waitresses who don't smile heh
A great place to start or end a night out. The view from the 27th floor is certainly impressive and they have an above average martini menu. I did find the wait staff to be spread a little thin and that impacted the service, albeit not enough to detract from the view.
The morning before I paid my visit to Peaks Lounge, I went on a seven mile walk around downtown Denver and Civic Center. It was great to finally kick up my feet on their cushy ottomans and enjoy an overpriced Chimay that evening. Being able to see some of the sites that I visited on foot was fun. If you're a hotel guest or staying somewhere else nearby, put this lounge on your to-do list. Be sure to get there in the late afternoon/early evening though. Once the sunset-view seeking crowd arrives, they won't leave until long after the sun is gone.
What a pretty view! This is Denver's somewhat comparison to Top of the Hub in Boston, which is at the top of the Prudential Building, if any of you have ever been there. It was my boyfriend and I's anniversary so after a lovely dinner at Rioja, we decided to grab a drink here. What a lovely evening it was.
I felt kinda funny going into a hotel less than 2 miles from where I live...it is always weird being around tourists in your own city. But it wasn't only tourists getting a drink, there were a few locals too so we didn't feel alone.
I feared the drink prices to be in the $15/each range before coming here but I got mine for $12 and my boyfriend's was priced at $8, so a little high but no more than Cruise Room or a place like that. I liked the view and my drink, but I probably won't make this one of my destination bars in Denver very often.
It was a pretty quiet Sunday night and not too much was happening at the first few bars we hit up, so boredom and curiosity lead us to Peaks Lounge on the 27th floor of the Hyatt. We weren't sure if we were in the highest lounge in the hotel, and when I asked, I was told it's the highest bar not only in the hotel, but in all of Denver!
The view spanned the whole length of the building and the nighttime view of Denver made me feel like I might actually live in a city! As mentioned, the drinks aren't cheap, but I settled on a Sunshine Wheat with a slice of orange for $5.50 and I savored it along with the good conversation and the great view.
I'd like to see that place when it's hopping! It would be great for a classy event of some sort.
The prices are what you would expect with the view. They also have great desert if you are craving something chocolate.
Go an hour before sunset and get a window seat for 2... have drinks and take in the sun setting over the mountains.
Alright fellow Yelper's, if your looking for an adult beverage establishment to take an out of town guest or client, this is a great spot. On weekdays finding parking near the Hyatt is a cakewalk, and after drinks you are centrally located around a plethora of great restaurants for dinner.
Now, let's beat the dead horse for a minute. The view is excellent, depending on the weather, you can either watch an amazing sunset as it disappears below the mountains or enjoy a lightning show. Here it feels like your in a bandpass stereo box and each time it thunders the glass amplifies the sound to a heavenly level of bass. Or if you happen to end up here on a winter evening, you can enjoy the relaxing visual experience of observing a single snowflake as it makes it's final 27 story drop to it's demise.
Like every other "business" atmosphere type bar, the staff is extremely pretty or handsome. They will go overboard to flirt with you, and be "extra" friendly, not necessarily because you are awesome, but because they work very hard for tips.
Overall this is a great place to take someone who has never been to Colorado before, I feel confident betting all the beer in Colorado that your friend or client will really enjoy their experience here.
A must if you are visiting Denver! The view is amazing and makes an $18 glass of champagne (Veuve) seem like a good deal! Very relaxed atmosphere and the staff is as attentive as you want them to be! We only stopped in for one drink, but were soo comfortable we ended staying for more drinks and appetizers! This would be a great first date spot! Cheers!
It is a good place and, since Denver doesn't have any other view bars, I guess that's why it's so popular.
However, $14 for a chocolate-strawberry martini is a little excessive (which I paid for in 2006...so I can only imagine what they're going for now). Staff and bartenders are a little snooty. Come on, this is not New York, SF, LA or Miami.
All of that subsides if you can score a spot in the corner or up against a window with that special someone. If it's a little cold over there, an Irish Coffee may be in order...so be prepared to shell out another 20--no, wait--40 bucks :)
The view from the Peaks Lounge is the best part, by far. The drinks are expensive, but you really are paying for the view, so suck it up.
The scotch selection is average, and their signature cocktails range from exceptional to "just average".
However, if you're looking for a place to kick back, have a great view, and chat with some soft music in the background, this spot can't be beat.
A truly spectacular view! The lounge spans the entire length of the Hyatt Hotel. It is long and narrow and has a variety of seating: two-person tables against the window, large 6-8 person tall tables, comfortable couches with tons of pillows, a nice semi-private nook next to a fireplace. You are guaranteed a great view of the city from almost any seat in the place.
If I lived in Denver, I'd be here often.
After riding one of the fastest elevators up the the 27th floor bar, my friends and I were welcomed with one of the most beautiful views of downtown Denver. Amazing!
They have a number of "signature drinks" on the menu. Eh. I had a cable car (think orange and cinnamon) and the two straight males in the group had 27th Floors. These were essentially a fancy White Russians in a chocolate dusted martini glass. Both drinks were okay, but I recommend sticking with the wine. A glass is roughly the same price, but they were far better than the mix drinks.
In smart drinking practices, each drinker at our table was provided with a gratis small carafe of trail mix. Tasty, but after a couple of drinks I almost went to the table next to us to graze. They had ordered about half of the appetizer menu. Everything looked and smelled wonderful.
Yes! the 27th Floor of the Hyatt downtown - great view, great drinks, great service...strangely diverse (but not so much) crowd, but whatever - It rocks!
You can see the entire Denver skyline (not that that's any feat, but it's still cool).
Got that Hotel vibe about it - but truly stellar place to enjoy conversation and a drink~
After a fabulous dinner at Sushi Den, and watching a band perform at Herman's Hideaway, my date surprised me by taking me here. I had never been. Men take note: if you want to "wow" a girl, this is the place. Spectacular views and a lovely ambiance. I didn't have any of their signature drinks, but their wine selection was decent.
Peaks Lounge provides visitors with an amazing view of the city! The drinks are a bit expensive but the view is definitely worth it!
If you want a GREAT place to get a real drink and have a fabulous view of the city, this is it. Located at the top of the Hyatt REgency hotel on the 27th floor I believe, maybe 28th!, you get a spectacular view of the city lights and skyline. Nice appetizers and great cocktails. A super way to start or end the evening.
great views. nice place to take friends/family visiting from out of town for ONE drink. the prices are at the $PEAK.$
