This is one of those courses that you wish was closer to home.  If it was, I'd play it all the time.  We played there on a Saturday twilight - only three of us.  And we were able to scoot through the course in less than 4 hours.

The course is in fantastic shape.  I never played it before the renovations, but I had no complaints about the condition of the course. A relatively flat course, but plays tough because of the tree and creek lined doglegs. They also had the pins tucked behind monster bunkers on most greens.

A few holes had these unbelievable greens.  Like Super Mario golf greens.  Fun, but kinda Mickey Mouse.  Ups and downs, gullies and canyons right in the middle of the greens!

I really did enjoy myself. The clubhouse was kinda junkie and a few greens are B.S. - Other than that, a really fun little track.  I'd call it a "poor mans Meadow Club."

I play here a lot since it's close to home and $24 after 5PM on weekdays.

It's a flat course with little challenge aside from ridiculous greens shaped like a variety pack of potato chips.

NOT worth the weekend greens fees, ever.

Last shot an 88 here.

Was impressed with the course and the service...very playable course but the comments below about their greens are true.  Have never seen such curves, swells, and undulations.  There is a par-5 with a green that is simply ridiculous, but it is definitely memorable.

First nine better than the second 9, in my opinion.  Will definitely come back.

Impressed.  I really wasn't expecting much, since I originally played PG 2 years ago and it was a giant turd.  But their renovations have really spruced the place up.  The clubhouse is still the same-ole rathole, but the course conditions are MUCH improved and the well-maintained GRASS range is a rarity for bay area publics (note the grass please).  Multiple practice greens help the overcrowding issue also.  I remember the area being extremely wet/sloshy/yikes during the colder months, but the summer had near perfect conditions.

Not really a long track (I think tips were about 6200), but the layout is interesting enough.  Elevated tees, water in play, houses to bean, carnoustie junk... all good stuff that lots of courses lack.  The bunkers, which I found myself in a record 5 times due to their 'convenient' placement, are immaculate... even in the morning when the dew was out, the fluffiness was righteous.  We teed off around 730 as a twosome, and pretty much saw nobody the rest of our round except for the marshals who literally had nothing to do... fast pace about 3.5 hours.  It was a PERFECT day, so the only thing I can think of is the high weekend price -- 75 to walk, which is a little steep versus SF res card rates.  16 for a large range bucket is also a bit high come to think of it, but the non-sandy grass makes it a wash.

Now to the greens, which deserve their own section as mentioned by Zack in a previous review.  Mind boggling.  And not in a good way.  They were consistent, not overly quick, but some of the designs made me want to blow my brains out.  Three come to mind... one was a bagel, with a fat pothole right in the middle.... another was a canyon that was high on both sides surrounding an enormous 4 foot dip... and the third was just a giant cluster-F.  Can't even explain it, it had like 5 tiers on all sides, valleys carved all over the goddamn place, triple breakers.  Seriously, kill me.  Sure they're a challenge, but I mean c'mon.  Enough said.

Honestly I think PG might become part of the new repertoire when I want to get out of the city.  The only things holding me back are the high price and the greens that make me want to light myself on fire.

Before the re-model in 2007 I thought of this course as being well maintained, having a nice flow, and good rates.

The course is still well maintained, lay out still flows well, but apart from a different tee placement on 1 hole and the lengthening of another hole, I didn't notice much change.

The biggest change is rates have ballooned to weekdays $65 or $50 twilight.  Weekends even more.

Now I think of the course as well maintained, having a nice flow, but over priced rates.

This is a place that is clearly trying to become better known.  Lots of Pros, but one significant Con.

PROS:  Really nice staff, great driving range, nice layout, challenging length, decent price, well spaced out groups...

CON: The most ridiculous and silly greens I've ever seen on a golf course.  You'd swear you were on a mini-golf course.  Tiered greens are one thing, but to put huge sink holes in the middle of the green, or deep crevasses that divide the green with the cup in the crevass!  Is this an attempt to differentiate?  Weird.

This is a good course.  It's affordable, close to the city, and you can generally get a time here.

Well worth playing, especially on a Sat/Sun morning.

This is a good public course.  Real friendly staff and nice range as well - real grass not astro turf.  Went to the range on July 4th - free BBQ hotdogs were cookin near the range! Yay. It's worth a look.

Pro's - easy to get on, great walking course, quick round (played in 3.5 hours during the afternoon).

Con's - 4 greens were a joke.  As Zack mentioned, these greens made no sense; it's like they are hoping that you are going to 3-putt and make bogey on relatively easy holes.

I was between 2 and 3 stars but went with 2 because it was a bit costly to play and not worth it.  Obviously not a big fan of tis place.

I know they were trying to spruce up the course but now it's a joke , and I'm not just talking about the  greens where you're looking for the windmills. Every sand trap has 2 foot rough around it to lose your ball in. It's not right when being in the bunker is better than your ball just getting out and being impossible to find. But then the green fees are incredibly high too. I'm sure not in a hurry to get out there again.
