I liked the setup of the tasting room. Their winery is not on site, but it is in the middle of their Old School House Vineyard in the rolling countryside of Templeton/Paso Robles. The property is right off Highway 46 W going toward the coast and is probably always pretty busy... so if you're looking for something a little more intimate, you might want to contact them ahead of time to see if they can accomodate. Otherwise, expect a busy room.
We tasted through the different zins and also a sangiovese. Zinfandel is PC's flagship varietal, and their different bottlings showcase their vineyards around Paso Robles and the different terroir of those vineyards. All of their Zins avoided falling into the jammy/overripe style, and were a little more restrained. I really like their wine.
Rebecca and her tasting room staff took great care of us as well. All in all, another great stop in Paso. I've given out 5 stars for all three of my stops in Paso, I'll chalk that up to my good planning!
My first experience with Peachy Canyon was in 2003 when I totalled my car on HWY 1 just before reaching Cambria on a rainey valentines day weekend. After waiting for hours (staring at my giant idiotic mistake) for my parents to come down from the bay area to pick me up, they arrived and graciously offered to take me tasting in Paso to take the edge off. Our first stop was Peachy Canyon and it was like rain in the desert on that horrible day.
Since then I've picked up their wines a number of times at BevMo (since I live 5 hours from the winery) and their retail zins are consistantly good.
I returned recently on a tour of the various central coast appelations with my fiance and fell in love with Peachy Canyon all over again. You can't buy the good stuff in the stores, but they're more than happy to pour it for you in the tasting room. They have, by far, the best Zins we tasted in our tour of the central coast. We bought several bottles at differing price points.
Their tasting room is also really fun and cozy and they don't hold you back on your tasting adventure at all.
I highly recommend them if you're in the area.

The tasting room is very comfortable. Not over done at all. The woman pouring the wine was knowledgable and very nice. It was almost closing time, but she didn't mind at all. The wine were very good if I recall. And REALLY well priced. The Vesuvio was my faveorite. Sangiovese blend, mild finish with light tannins. Very easy drinking, and very food friendly. Would recomend it to anyone just trying out wine for the first time.

Look, the wines are quite good. And yes, the kid pouring for us was quite knowledgeable. I'm just not sure why he had a some pompous wine snobbish attitude. Here's how it went down:
GF: I really like this wine
Kid: Well what do you like about it?
GF: I don't know... it tastes...
Kid: Is the fruity notes? Is the earthiness? Or do you just like the pretty label?
Uh... yeah. Are you freakin serious? I felt like telling him it's pronounced mer-lott just to piss him off.

Better wines than Zin Alley
This is a good place to go if you are just beginning to try wines and want to try wines that are full on in your face.
These wines are very approachable to the novice wine drinker

Sometimes you just want easy wine at an easy price point. No need to sniff or swirl.
It is great wine to have in your arsenal and it is nice for guests. The wine snobs will not turn up their noses -- The 2-Buck-Chuck crowd will enjoy the treat.
Peachy Canyon has 2 tasting rooms, count em' 2! Double your pleasure, double your fun. Family operated and located on a beautify property, this wine has been spotted in the Cupertino Whole Foods "locally grown" section. It's so pretty, you could even rent the local for a wedding. So here goes me and my soap box:
SUPPORT LOCAL MOM AND POP JOINTS-ESPECIALLY THOSE MAKING WINES!
The menu is heavy on Zinfandel's but they offer other varieties. Definitely a must, and their Petite Sirah is something kinda AMAZING!
Don't ask me how much the tasting was...I was loopy by then!

Tasty reds, especially the extensive list of zinfandels. They have a port as well, but we found it to be a bit too sweet. Others in our group loved it. You get about 6 tastings for $5, unless you are there with wine club members. Bottles average 28-40 bucks. A pleasant tasting room with friendly staff where you can also pick up stuffed olives, pickled asparagus, gourmet dipping sauces and local olive oil and the usual array of winery trinkets like win glass charms and cheese plates.
Located right off of the lovely stretch of the 46 between Cayucos and the 101, and very near a handful of other wineries if you are planning a day of tastings or just out for a scenic drive.
This was the only place we visited that we'd had the wine before coming to the winery. We'd tried one of their zin's since it's fairly common in the south (must have a good distributor).
The school house that hosted the tasting room was charming, and gave the whole thing a homey feel that you don't always get with the big beautiful shiny new facilities. There was a sizeable bar, and lots of wines to choose from - 5 tastes for a minimal fee, which was waived with purchase. There's a reason that we can find their zin in GA - they're zins are surprisingly diverse and very good.
We started our July 08 wine tour here (1/5 in our limo). I was, as was the rest of our 7 person party, a bit disappointed by the wines here. Maybe they'd been built up too highly, but none of the wines really blew our socks off, the pourer seemed a bit discombobulated, and it was overall just an "alright" for me and my party.
Maybe I'd give it another chance... but with other great wineries around, I don't know that we'll necessarily stop in here again.
Also, tasting room Peachy 2 has closed and become the tasting room for Chronic Cellars now, so this location is the only place that I'm aware of to taste Peachy Canyon wines in the Paso area.
Peachy Canyon is:
Like going to your best friends house, on a sunday morning and flopping onto the couch.
Like channel surfing all day, hungover with a bowl of mac'n'cheese.
Like recieving an unexpected party invitation in the mail.
Like wearing a pink tutu to a fancy dinner.
Like showing up at work and finding out its a holiday and you have the whole day to do whatever you want.
Like heaven - go here. It's abso fabso.

The tasting room, while nice, was nothing fancy.
The fact that they had a rose (or what some people call pink wine) that I actually liked is very fancy.

Loved their Snow Zin and their BFD Zin. We were headed down to Cambria and stopped at Peachy for a little taste. My co-worker told us about it. There are 2 Peachy's and we went to the one on Lake Nacimiento only to find it closed. It was a friday. When we got to the one in Tempelton, the winery was packed. Only $3 to taste and you pick 6 to try. The list is 2 sides. The fee is waived when wine is bought. Now that's how you do it!

For those of you who have not stopped at the Peachy Canyon Winery while proceeding onto more exotic locations, such as SLO, are missing out. This is a definite hit on your wine tasting hit list. The assistant winemaker has been to the ends of the earth (rather Middle Earth aka New Zealand) in order to learn to make some of the finest Savs (Sauvignon Blancs) and THE WINE CLUB MANAGER IS THE NICEST PERSON THIS SIDE OF THE MISSISSIPPI (everyone is treated like the sommelier at the French Laundry at this establishment). If you are looking for a fantastic experience, go to Peachy.

everything here is very peachy! everything tastes allright and is moderately pleasant, but nothing was that great to us. however, their wines here are affordably priced so this place might be a good place to grab up some wines for everyday use.
I like a couple of the zins here and the tasting room was easy to find but I wasn't bowled over.
Overall I had a fine time here but there are other places to try in Paso
OK Zins. But, Turley's are much better. Their Cab Franc was quite bad.
