Warmer weather means a visit to my local Payless Shoe Source for some cheap summer kicks. I went today and left empty-handed. My size is already picked over--my fault for not shopping sooner.

So, I leave empty-handed...yet I'm compelled to give them 4 stars because that Payless location offers some of the best  customer service I've ever experienced.  I worked for years in Madison Ave. boutiques so service matters to me. I don't expect the ass-kissing that Park Ave broads tried to demand from me do but I appreciate a smile, a greeting, and sincere effort to help me if I ask for some.

Every employee at that store offers a friendly "hello" and assistance--every time I wander in there.  I've no idea why but they do. It's hard to imagine that they're making fat wads of cash there--they must have a manager who knows how to hire. All I know is that the people who work at the Payless on Grand and Graham in Brooklyn could school a lot of the snoots on Mad and 5th Avenues.

Indeed...you could pay more for flip flops, but why?
