I actually like this Pavilions. Its not dirty, everything is fresh, everyone is helpful, the lines aren't too long, the parking lot is big and easy to get to. I also use this as a reference point when I am in W. Los Angeles. I can navigate anywhere in LA from this store. It's open 24hrs and not that far from Hollywood Blvd.

I like stores that give you options. Like floral arrangements and things of that nature.
I'm passed the whole 'Supermarket' feel where every aisle carries about a million different hot sauces.
It's clean and feels nice in here but something is missing here. Like as if this place has no soul?
Either way, no one ever helped me even though I walked aimlessly around. :( -
Review from Rocky B.
I've only been here twice since I moved to the area less than a week ago so I'm still getting the lay of the land. One tip would be to get a member card...that really helps to knock the prices down a bit.
The store set up can be a bit confusing...not all aisles are labeled appropriately so it can make finding things a bit of a hassle especially when there doesn't really seem to be too many employees out on the floor.
Both times I've been here I managed to grab items that weren't scanning at the register so the cashier had to run to get a price check. Lame.
In the end this is my new local grocery store and whatever odds and ends I'm not able to pick up at Trader Joe's I'm sure this place will do okay as
far as filling in the blanks.
PS...the Starbucks here isn't all that great. Not sure if they get the same training as regular Starbucks employees but both times I've ordered my usual Starbucks drink here it's been off. -
Review from Glen B.
This is my local grocery store, which doesn't mean a lot because I almost never come here unless I need to make an emergency beer run at night or have a pressing food urge that just cannot wait.
CONS:
-The prices are pretty terrible, especially for the produce. We're talking 2.50 an avocado when they are not on sale.
-Prepared foods are unappetizing. Dry-as-hell roasted chicken, slimy pizza, rank olives, etc.. I think the baked goods might be OK though.
-Possibly understaffed. I've been on more than one occasion late at night when the checkout lines were horrific, as in, I had to wait behind 6 other people because only one line was open.
PROS:
-It is 24 hours.
-Parking is pretty good
-It has a gigantic selection of frou-frou products. I could not seem to find polenta stocked in any of the grocery stores I frequent until I came across it here. There's literally like 18 different varieties of instant brownies.
I guess Pavillions is for people who shop in the middle aisles (aka, little fresh produce). For the rest of us, eh. -

R-U-D-E !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
worst customer service I have ever received !!!!!!!!!!!! I am actually taking time to write this review because I have never left crying from anywhere before in my life... long story short ..I wrote a check but they would not accept my VERY VALID passport as a form of ID ... (I have not recieved my new ID from dmv yet) anyways the cashier called the "manager" to help me out and she said in these words "we will not accept this, put all your grocerys back" ! I have never ever been treated this way.. this lady "FELICIA" manager??? omg! how?? rudest person I have ever met... I feel bad for her...KARMA!! I had been going there for 3 yrs ..I have not and will never step foot in there again... unless it is a 100% emergency!! -

Came here because they had Quakers Instant Oatmeal on sale...Buy 2 Boxes and get 3 FREE! Yes, you read that right! Oatmeal is the perfect morning on-the-go breakfast so I couldn't pass up this deal.
They have a panda express inside and the line was ridiculous!!!
The ONLY complaint that I have about this place is that the aisles are very narrow. Other than that..im a fan!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Forget everything else.
We had our Thanksgiving dinner at
my friend and fellow Yelper's house (Jenny J. YAYx3)..
We bought some drinks
and picked up some desserts here..
Red velvet cookies - so soft and delish
Chocolate cupcakes - cute design but I hated the frosting on it.. way too sweet
Pumpkin pie - hmm.. too creamy (?)
Pumpkin cheesecake thingamajiggie - SO GOOD! A guy on the phone who stood right by us turned around to tell us 'it's f**king good, you HAVE to buy one' lol
We also drop by this market often
to get some baguette or sourdough bread
and blue cheese :]
Jenny's house is BYOBC (Bring Your Own Blue Cheese)
or you're not allowed to come in ^_^
+
Their wheat dinner rolls are BOMB. :]
Oh, and there's a Panda Express in this market..
which I find a little weird haha -

They have a wide selection of quality products and ingredients, and the store is always well-stocked and clean. There are plenty of salespeople to help with any of your questions. The Panda Express and Starbucks inside is convenient, and service is good.
What pushes this Pavilions into a 5 star rating is their table of used books by the cash registers. Last time I went it was $0.50 for paperback and $2.00 for hard covers. The money donated for these books goes to the Girls and Boys Club (I believe...) so not only is it for a great cause, but you can grab some awesome finds! Once, I found a hard cover, 1930's edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland that was valued at around $300 the last time I checked. HECK YES! -

Don't use the coin counting machine at this store or any Vons or Pavillions. They short you on the count. You've been warned.

Sure, you're paying too much money for nothing. Sure, there's got to be a better grocery somewhere nearby. Sure, we'll find it someday. Yup.
Tell me when you get around to doing that, alright?
Until then, there is always this Pavilions, which will, thankfully, do in a pinch. It is, so far as I can tell, always clean, the produce and baked goods always fresh, and the grocery section well-stocked; even better, I only ever come here for my boyfriend's grandparents, who do not care if it is a little more expensive--after all, old people do love paying for convenience.
For all of these reasons, this Pavilions gets three and a half stars, rounded down to three because yelp doesn't do the whole "fractions" thing. -

I live nearby. I've been coming here since they opened way backs in the days...
Granted, quality and store layout is much better than before... BUT,
sometimes they don't carry certain things, parking lot could use a little bit more planning to make flow efficient... and there are way to many bums and panhandlers harassing shoppers sometimes.
Produce is usually pretty good. The deli and bakery people are very nice and always willing to help. Shoot, most of all the employees there are nice and helpful. Customer service desk is kinda slow and snippy sometimes, depends on the time of day you catch those ladies.
AND... they are open 24hours... -

It took a while for me to get the lay of the land, but now that I've acclimated I'm quite pleased. The produce is good and the selection is good. Nice florals for a last minute gift. The pharmacy is terrific and very friendly. It is also lovely to grab a Starbucks while getting your shopping done.

I'm giving it one star because they overcharged me for an item. I should have checked my receipt before going back home but I drove 4 miles in LA traffic before getting home and realizing their mistake. Usually I wouldn't drive back for two measly dollars but I wouldn't have bought the product if it weren't for the discount so I was peeved.
I get back to the place and the supervisors refunded my $2, nothing more. Aren't there supposed to be some laws that require greater reimbursement if prices were scanned incorrectly? Thanks for wasting an additional hour of my time, Pavilions.1 Previous Review: Show all »

My boyfriend and I lovingly refer to this place as "Pavies," but that is only because it's within walking distance of my apartment. I have a fondness for the place, but I'm not afraid to be frank about it. A couple of things are keeping this Pavillions down:
1. The service is quite variable. One time we had a great guy, Dominique, help us pick out the perfect avocado -- he deserves a raise. But more often than not, the cashiers are a little short with you -- probably because there are not enough of them staffed, and this store is always hopping.
2. There are less expensive options around (Ralph's, Trader Joe's, Fresh & Easy), albeit not at walking distance.
3. Sometimes they are lacking on basics; my old roommate once told me they don't carry garlic. Also, many of their competitors offer cooler, more fun foods at better prices. (You know what I mean -- jalepeno hummus and pinkberry style frozen yogurt.)
4. Their bread selection is weak sauce.
Not saying it's without its perks -- I love their Safeway BBQ chicken frozen pizzas. They also have Starbucks and Panda Express inside their store. -

I shop here A LOT and I am usually pretty happy! Staff is GREAT! They have an amazing produce section with very helpful employees. Floral department staff is so nice!
The deli and bakery are great . They also have a Starbucks and Panda Express on site.
Love the self check-out lanes that they now have. -

Prices are better than Ralph's. The customer service is "good" if you don't mind being asked at least 5 times, "Do you need any help?!" as you're clearly making a bee line someplace. Honestly, I know how to ask for help or maybe if they just read body language a little better. Still preferable to Ralph's where they don't even greet you at check out nor ask if you need help out to your car like they do at Pavilion's. I've never taken them up on it but I like that they offer and help out the little old ladies. One of those niceties of civilization that is slipping by the way side.
I've noticed they've stopped carrying a few of my staples which is a drag. I absolutely do NOT like how they ask you for donations at check out- not only on the debit machine but by the cashier too. I don't find it appropriate.
I ordered a cake in the bakery once and the girl was super helpful about trying samples and the cake was surprisingly very good. I really like the sandwiches they make near the deli. Very substantial and tasty.
I don't know why people are calling it "ghetto". I think since they redid the produce section it looks quite nice. I've never noticed it dirty, lights out or had any problems in the parking lot. -

You know those places near your house that you absolutely despise and dread entering but you just keep going back because they're near your house?
Save your sanity and don't go to this Pavillions on purpose. Creepy clientele, bad produce, the Starbucks always is like out of coffee or some other ridiculous thing. Once when I was there the sandwich oven got stuck shut with a sandwich inside and the store filled with smoke.
However, I will give Pavillions as a whole props (that's where the second star comes from) on their alcohol prices. Quite the steals, especially with a Vons card. Which is why I keep going back and always will. Dammit.Listed in: I Do It For My Hood

Pretty clean inside and has a panda express which is convenient for me to get my groceries and grab lunch on the way out. I really like their deli, warm foods and cheese area...plus its right next to the alcohol...cool deal!! Parking isn't bad, I always seem to shop when there aren't a lot of customers inside. The cashiers seem nice and friendly!

It's clean. The workers are a bit slow in terms of customer service.
But let's talk about what really matters:
1.Starbucks inside when I find the urge to keep awake after work.
2. Delicious sandwiches prepared fresh! the tuscan chicken is delicious. what can I say? I'm a sucker for melted cheese and artichokes!
3. Open 24 hours!! Yeah, so when you're all up in your 'element' you can cruise on over (walking or taxi cab of course) for some munchies. OR for those of us who have been plagued with sickness into the wee hours of the morning, you can make an emergency 'Emergen-C' stop. haha, ahaha. wow, that sure did play out how I had imagined it....but really, let's hope you go for the strong stuff instead, cause if you're hunched over sick at 5AM, emergen-C is not the answer. -

I just came from Pavilions and boy do I love this place! As soon as I walked in the guy stocking the pre-packed lettuce asks me if I need help finding anything.
Their selection is wonderful, they are a bit pricier than their sister store, Vons (which I also love). Take advantage of the club card and you can save a lot of money.
I think I got asked 4 times if I needed help. When was the last time you got that at Ralphs? They have a great selection of wine and cheese too!
They call me Mr Mitchell at the register, I hope to be on a first name basis soon.... -

There was no price on the frozen pizza. When I brought it to the check out, it was like $7.75.
FOR A FROZEN PIZZA!????
8 BUCKS FOR A FROZEN PIZZA!???
when i left, the cashier told me that i saved 1.10. I guess if you triple the price of food its easy to hand out 10 percent discounts. -

I don't really know how I feel about this place. The lighting is so dim inside, especially around the bakery section, that it feels like the store is saying "dear God you are a disgusting, fat pig, are you sure you want to buy this? Fatty fatty fat fat fat don't you dare try to buy that Hostess Cupcake Fatty McFatterson!"
While their selection is somewhat decent, I wish there was at least a modicum more of female beauty products and less expensive office supplies. I also wish they would carry video games to sell so I didn't have to schlep over to another place. But, you can't have everything in life, now can you?
You will ALWAYS find bums outside this store. It is scary, and I won't travel here by night unless I took the car or had mace with me.
The pharmacy is really nicely kept and is loads better than the incompetent plebeians I had to deal with at the CVS across the street from the Grove. These people know what they are doing, and don't waste time by pretending to be busy when they're not.
All in all, leaving the store, I feel slightly guilty for not listening to the Pavilions Gods and buying pastries and ice cream after all. But, whatever, I'm not a Pavilionologist, so screw you! -

I live pretty much right across the street from this place. And I go here like five times a week. (That's 'cause I'm not good at lists and hey, it's right across the street, right?) And they never let me down here. Nice people. Great produce. And it's right across the street. Every time I go in another grocery store, I always think to myself, "this is cool, but it's not Pavillions."

i'm a little scared of this pavilions. maybe it's because the parking lot is entirely fenced in. maybe it's the 2 security guards by the doors. somehow, these things don't make me feel any safer.
at any rate, it's convenient--open 24 hours, close to my house. beware of things in the freezer though, i bought ice cream bars there on 3 separate occasions which had been thawed and refrozen. don't know if they've fixed that particular problem yet.
starbucks inside, though i don't know if that is 24 hours. most of the people working there are very friendly, especially those guys in the produce section. it's an older building so there's not as much square footage for a wide array of stock, but they have the basics and oh yes, a panda express inside, too. -

This Pavilions pharmacy has a very professional and helpful staff. I have found the staff at other pharmacies such as the CVS up the street on Vine to be rude and unhelpful to the point of cruelty, but Pavilions' staff are courteous, kind and friendly. A shout out to Heather and Christina!

Come here if you want a step above Ralph's and Vons but dont want the organic wares and hectic crowds of Whole Foods. This is a significant location as it represents a division of two worlds. Two blocks south are the mansions of Hancock Park, two blocks north is gritty hollywood with prostitutes and druggies. Right here is where everything comes together.

I was in the bakery today picking up an order, which I place on a regular basis. They did not have record of my order, this is not the first time.
I asked what I could do to ensure this would not happen again. The man and woman I was dealing with were unable to offer any sugestions. As I was leaving I asked for the bakery managers name. The girl responded "he's not here" I would like his name, I stated. "why" she returned.... Are You Kidding Me! She fianly tells me his name is "jose"
Last name? She does'nt know... You Dont Know Your Bosses Name?
Just then the man I had been speaking to before (he was standing 6 feet from her the whole time) say's "I'm the bakery manager" , he is wearing a name tag which read's "Jose H" !!!
What kind of childish unprofessional jack asses are they employing here? And putting in managerial position !!!!
I will never shop here again, and will be sending a letter to the store manager.... that is, if I'm able to get her name.
