Review from Raquel C.
I am basing this review only on it's Sunday brunch, since that is the only time I go to eat here.
I have been coming here for brunch for over 12 years, and every time the brunch has left me feeling like someone needs to roll this donut hole out! I over eat every time, I can't help it!! Some of the buffet brunch menu are... Drum roll please!
Eggs,
Pancakes,
Waffles, (with lots o toppings)
French toast,
Fresh fruit,
Mac n cheese!!
Lasagna!!
Breakfast pizza,
Shrimp salad!!
House salad!!
Cheesecake!!
Choco mousse!!
And always the chocolate fondue fountain, with marshmallows, strawberries, and rice krispies to dip...
This was just a small list of what they offer.
Price per person $15.99 ? I'm pretty sure ;)
Well worth it!!! -

Super greasy peperroni pizza, and a not so good mushroom and tomato pizza. I don't have any desire to return here ever again.
I've heard good things about their desserts, however. -

I hadnt been to Paulo and Bills in over 10 years. Its great to see that what wasnt broke hasnt been fixed. Still as good as ever, wonderful specials, desserts were great, appetizer wonderful. The server was even too good...a little overly anxious, but thats ok. We had the calimari, the bow ties, and the sea bass special, followed by the phyllo and semi fredo. Both were awesome. Its a little pricier than we usually do, but well worth it for a nice romantic dinner out! I recommend for sure!

Overpriced. They ran out of bread and sprite. Tried to make lemonade from scratch using lemon juice and soda water. Slow Service!! STEP IT UP Paulo and Bill!!!

We came here solely for dessert and drinks. I ordered a french martini which was the best. Then we ordered some sort of brownie confection wrapped in phyllo dough. It was one of the BEST desserts I have had. Ever.
Served with vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate syrup. I am now a diabetic. -
Review from Toni M.
We met our friend Martha here for dinner last night. She recommended it because it was midway between us. Lois and Bob had eaten here when it was still part of the PB&J chain and Lois really liked the chicken salad. We found our way to the restaurant and were greeted and seated at a comfortable table in the back. The decor runs to dark and heavy w/ cool colored glass accents. People were seated outdoors under patio umbrellas but we were content to be indoors.
We ordered calamari to start after ascertaining that there were tentacles. Martha ordered a glass of wine, I ordered a dirty vodka martini up and Alan ordered a margarita on the rocks. We requested bread and were brought plates of pale, soft focaccia w/ olive oil, seeded for us, unseeded for Martha at her request. The bread was disappointing. The calamari was pretty good. It came w/ both a marinara and a lemon aioli dipping sauce that tasted strongly of artificial lemon. We concentrated on the marinara, which was tasty. My martini was good and a generous pour. Martha was pleased w/ her wine and Alan was w/ his margarita. Our waiter was intrusive and seemed to lack a sense of rhythm when it came to interacting w/ us, repeatedly interrupting our conversations to ask pro forma questions about how we were liking the food, although to be fair, he was very attentive to Martha's special dietary requests.
Because the weather has been so hot and humid we were all interested in the main dish salads. Martha ordered the chicken salad w/o tomatoes, I ordered it w/ everything (they gave me her tomatoes) and Alan ordered the Tuscan Cobb. My salad's ingredients were good, but the dressing was on the sweet side for my taste. The chicken was fresh and moist, the artichoke hearts were tasty, the tomatoes were fresh and good, as was the lettuce. The amount of avocado was skimpy, two thin slices. I guess I'm spoiled living in California. I'm used to more. Alan thought his Cobb was OK. The dressing was on the sweet side for him too. Martha seemed satisfied w/ hers. At the end of the meal a woman who seemed to be a manager asked us how things were. Assuming her inquiry was pro forma, we gave a pro forma response rather than telling her the things we thought could use work. That may have been a mistake because her question might have been genuine. As it is, we won't return the next time we're in town. There are too many places in the KC area we like better.Listed in: Kansas City and the…

I never eat at this place unless its for BRUNCH!! There selection is great and its priced just right and I think it is the best bang for your buck in KC. $14.95 I think and that includes any drink or $3 for Mimosas and Bloody Mary's.
There selection includes the breakfast staples but they do have some yummy different options including a veggie quiche and their fruit is super fresh. Their mini waffles and french toast are the cutest with their selection of berries, fresh whipped cream, butter and syrup. They are known for their Italian food which is the most disappointing on the buffet. Its cold and gummy, but back to the highlights.
Don't skip the salad. I'm a serious carnivore but their shrimp salad is OMG and their house salad with dressing is quite yummy. They have carved meat station with prime rib and honey ham. And last but not least two words....
CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN!!!
(The trick is to take pineapple off the breakfast portion of the buffet to dip in chocolate)
Also they have a selection of great little desserts with bread pudding and all kinds of little cakes and puddings. I will be back! Can't wait till it is patio time. The service is outstanding this place will continue to be a favorite of mine for many years to come. -

Paulo and Bill's makes a mean martini. Ask for the disco lemonade -- it's not on the menu anymore but it goes down like butta and before you know it you'll down three or four.
Of course you shouldn't drink those cocktails on an empty stomach, so try the appetizers too. You can choose three different appetizers, all of which are served in a beautiful three-layer tower. I recommend the calamari and eggplant ... I'll leave number three up to you.
Paulo and Bill's buffet isn't just for holidays. Every Sunday they serve up an extravaganza of gourmet food. This isn't the Country Buffet; it's upscale, elegant and pricey. But why not? Save the mundane for weekdays. Make the weekend special -- whether it's Friday happy hour or Sunday brunch -- with P&B. -

I used to eat here all the time. I guess there are more choices now, so I forget about this place. It is located in an area that really isn't next to much else except an aging movie theatre.
The food is really nice, with an emphasis on pasta, pizza and roasted meat. The interior feels a little Bellagio, but in a cozy way. An open air kitchen and outdoor seating gives it a little something extra.
If you are looking for a great place for Mother's Day or Easter, this elevated buffet is one of the best in the city. A buffet for non-buffet people. You definitely get the value for your money. -

My husband I keep giving Paulo and Bill's another try because it is convenient to our home. We were so disappointed on our last visit we won't be back-there are two many other restaurants that would appreciate our business who serve a quality product at a value price. Here's the skinny on our experience: Eggplant appetizer-unripened tomatoes were the key component to the dish that made it a big 'miss'... Our $12 salad was missing key components-artichoke hearts and parmesan. Of course no one checked with us to see how the appetizer or salad were meeting our expectations. Entree- we split a Pizza. No complaints on the Pizza quality, but size and price were not congruent. Dessert? Phyllo Brownie was nothing short of disgusting... brownie was mushy and undercooked... very disappointing....

Great food and good service.
You can dine outside in the warm weather and they have the best Sunday Brunch in Shawnee.
I have many good memories eating their when I lived in Kansas City.
I never had a bad meal or was ever disappointed. They are also famous for their exotic wine list. It's a high end restaurant with reasonable prices (however it's been 2 years since I have been there so their prices might now be high).
Most of the waiters and waitress are local college students and fun to talk too, or least this was true 2 years ago. -

Their spinach salad is the best spinach salad ever. I crave this salad. Service has been good, its cozy in a booth. Warm and comfortable. Add the chicken flatbread humus app or the margerita pizza and its heavenly.

You all are smoking dank with your pallid "3 stars." WTF? This restaurant is the bomb-dig-a-tay. Not only is it 10 mins BY FOOT from my folks' place, but it's also some of the best eye-talian food you'll find. Period. Their shrimp rocks, and you don't' hear that often as it just sounds totally weird. Yes, rockin' shrimp. Check your taste buds, fellow yelperz. Also, c'mon, buffets are for wienies and fair-weather/WT cheap-o'z. Spend some green and order off the damn menu, then then throw your feces if need be.

In town once a month. This was close, and I frequented. Several friends like--and so may you--but not my preference with more choices in the area.

This place has a great lunch special. I suggest the bow tie pasta with chicken and the Paulo Chicken Salad. The chicken in the pasta is melt in your mouth tender, and the "paulo chicken salad" Its got artichoke hearts and avacados in it with a creamy honey mustard dressing. They also have a YUMMY desert that is a brownie wrapped in filo dough with chocolate and some other sauce and placed in a oven until the dough is crispy and they top it off with homemade white chocolate chip vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. They also have a great sunday brunch!! The atmosphere is very nice great place for date night, or afternoon lunch with friends or co workers.

Ouch! A family gathering of eight had dinner when we were last in the Shawnee area. It was disappointing, to say the least. Each of us ordered a different entree and only one person was satisfied with the food. The only reason I gave it two stars is because the server was attentive and personable.

Nothing but good things to say about this place
The Food: Very good - Steak, chicken pasta, mahi mahi are my favorites, though I've never had a bad/poorly prepared dish there.
The Service: Here's an example that sums up my experiences there. I ordered a salad along with my meal (I believe it was greek) that was described as having olives in it. I asked the waiter as I was ordering whether they were calmata - since I could easily consume a few pounds of said olives for a meal and nothing else if left to my own devices. The waiter replied that yes, they were. I went on to fish for advice on my entree selection and, when I landed on a rather large main course, the waiter commented it was large enough, I may not have room for a salad. I agreed, cancelled the salad, and was floored when, along with the bread and dipping sauces that come to the table automatically, there was a bowl of calmata olives (at no charge, I discovered when the bill came, though I would have gladly paid for them). This kind of customer satisfaction philosophy is what keeps me coming back.
Catering: My office also uses Paulo and Bill to do a lot of our catering. They are the company favorite, by a mile. -

Great food, ambiance was relaxing but buzzing with people. It reminded me of an Italian cafe we went to this past summer. The price was fair and the food was great, with excellent service. The wine I had was recommended by my waitress and was fantastic for a "house" selection. I'll go back because of the great service and convenient location near the Hampton Inn.
