Drinks are dirt cheap and the free popcorn is buttery and delicious. I love it. So much fun - I love going out and not spending a bunch. The atmosphere is chill, not too loud, able to actually hear what people are saying without shouting; oh and I always meet the most interesting people. good times.
The ONLY reason this place isnt getting 5 stars is because the female bartender is a B**CH!!! She is seriously a woman hating, bitter old, plump , you know what. She's always nice to the guys I'm with, but the girls; ugh i cant stand it. Rude, condescending and not pleasant to be around. Almost makes me want to go somewhere else, but the price has got me comin back. Plus i can walk home, which is always a plus.
Paul and Eddies - I love you, but get a better bartender!!
cheap mixed drinks, bartenders that fill wine glasses to the rim (CLASSY), and no one batted an eye at the six month pregnant woman sitting at the bar. oh yeah, free delicious popcorn and tesla playing LOUDLY on the jukebox.
not bad for cupertino on a wednesday night.
I'm conflicted between 3 stars or 4 stars. I personally think that this place is alright but my boyfriend really likes this place. It's a small little dive bar that has its charms and definitely has its regular costumers. They have an indoor smoking area which is awesome because you RARELY see that in California. A few times a month they also have local live bands playing in the bar. It's better than a typical dive bar because the workers there are relatively friendly and they give out free popcorn (not the best quality popcorn though). If you want to grab a beer with your boys or even your girlies.. this place is a pretty chill spot to check out.
This place is awesome! # 1 dive bar on my list! It's cheap, has a good location (for local Cupertino folk), and the bartenders are nice. I'd go here over BJs any day of the week.
This is seriously *THE* neighborhood dive bar to be at. Its the kind of place where the ceiling is filled with random tagged $1 bills.
The drinks are cheap and strong and the bartenders are friendly. Seriously, $4 for a pint or $4 for a mixed drink and those mixed drinks looked strong. They have a nice tap selection (Guiness, Fat tire, blue moon, etc) and liquor selection (GG, Belvedere, etc)
There's a few tables here and there and a bunch of stools along the bar. Beware of the billiards players as the distance between the billiards table and bar is very little and you may have a pool stick poking at you while they play. There's also a popcorn machine in the corner if you want some grub w/your drinks.
The lighting is perfect (not too bright and not too dim) and it isn't too loud where you can't hear conversations with your friends. It is still lively though. I'll definitely be back.

Paul & Eddies is a cool lil spot. I stopped by with a bar buddy the other night after moving some furniture and had a beer. Actually, I had a Woodchuck Pear Cider (yum) and my friend had a beer. We were going to play pool but both tables were taken. We thought about Darts but since we're not a good aim and it's by the bar, we decided to pass on that too. lol
Anyway, the joint was mellow, beer was cold, and the bartender was friendly (forgot her name). It's cash-only for now but she said they're supposed to be putting in a credit card system soon. I'll be back. And next time, I'm getting some free popcorn.
See ya there!
I forgot to add - they also have free popcorn and darts.
After coming here a few more times, I noticed a few trends.
1. Old white folks playing pool at all hours of the day - this is okay because they are super chill and nice to us.
2. Weirder nerdier people selecting random obscure songs on the jukebox. This is okay though; I take it as a music education.
3. It can get crowded, and there might not be enough stool-space if you're with 4+ people, but this is still a great place to start off the night (Refer to my previous review about how cheap this place is)
5 stars still! Thanks P&E's!

I have driven by this place for my entire life with an ever evolving perception.

Best Bloody Marys in town. Apparently there is an on going competition by two of the bartenders to be the ultimate bloody mary maker. The two actually bring in there own stuff to create there signature Bloody Mary. I am not telling who my favorite is because you need to go there and make up your own mind.
Not only are the bloody marys and drinks great but the bar atmosphere is fantastic. You have your mix of old timers and everyone in-between. There are people from all walks of life and every one of them has a great story, smile and good vibe around them. I am seriously considering moving to cupertino just for Paul and Eddies.
This place is freaking like 2 blocks from my house, and I've never been until just a few months ago. A GEM in Cupertino. Excellent variety of drinks and beer at wayy cheap prices. Free popcorn only helps it's cause.
Only downside is that it is slightly small, but I've come back several times and have had fun here.
Three reasons I like this place:
1) Sharks on the big screen. Duh, like I need to explain that awesomeness.
2) A clean ladies room. Who would've thought?!
3) Friendly bartenders. A rare find in the City but apparently not in Cupertino.
Honorable mention goes to the free popcorn and sometimes witty, sometime pretentious, sometimes funny bumper stickers behind the bar. Also, the people watching. You see a lot of regulars and random reunions.
Paul & Eddie's has been around forever and since I grew up in the area I've been here once or twice before but I never made it a habit until recently.
It's a good one. I gotta say. Great atmosphere, friendly folks, easy goin feel... and a dollar of mine lives there now.
As a good friend of mine said.. "This place is quality."
Perfect place to relax, have a beer, play a little pool.
Friendly bartenders, popcorn, happy hour lunches, free pool before 3PM.
Paul & Eddie's was the first place my dad took me to get a beer after I turned 21 and it's where I'll take my sons when they are old enough.
Lost a star for tap selection.
One of my favorite dive bars.
Highlights:
- Popcorn: ok, I like snacks so it's fun that they have a popcorn machine to help with your munchies while you drink
- Pretty cheap drinks: it's a dive bar so it's cool and for a dive bar they have a pretty good selection of vodkas (my drink of choice)
- Neighborhood chill feel: cozy setting for a night of drinks with friends
- Jukebox: everyone loves a jukebox!
Lowlights (my flip side to highlights):
- A bit small, but it doesn't tend to get too crowded so it's ok.
- Kind of a random location, but maybe that adds to its appeal
i love this place for exactly what it is...laid back....exceptional drinks...bartenders who don't skimp...i love the interesting mix of people...everyone has been very approachable and it has a real feel-good vibe to it
PROS
excellent drinks
affordable drinks
popcorn
smoking patio
diverse
no frills
CONS
you have to pay the extremely overpriced juke box to get any music...that's a big pet peeve of mine....you can easily go through $15 just to hear less than an hour of music and that seriously sucks
i took it down one star for the music situation....it doesn't stop us from going nearly every week for some pool and good vibes and stellar drinks though...but DAMN...just hook up some tunes people...it's the hugest drawback to an otherwise excellent dive
This place might be divey, but it is one of my bases of operations when I'm feeling casual. Great spot for a beer and a game of pool or darts.
Ask the bartender whats on special for the day and you will get a choice of 3 dollar pints. That's a damn hard price to beat; you can have a good time on them. Just make sure you don't try to make a U-turn on Stevens Creek when you leave the parking lot... I got popped there once and narrowly dodged a major bullet.
ok, so it takes a certain mood for me to go to paul and eddies. if i feel like being sociable and possibly running into a buncha people from high school while drinking on a budget, this is where i go. there are two pool tables, a dart board, jukebox, popcorn machine and... my favorite part... an outdoor smoking patio. u can usually find me out there. although... i just quit smoking yesterday... we'll see how that goes... and i quit drinking for a month. huh.
anyway...
the bartenders are all super duper cool, the drinks are stiff and they are crazy cheap. plus i like how they have iced shot glasses. it's a nice touch.
make sure you don't go when college kids are on break. that place gets so packed. i like to go on chiller days, where i can sit down and relax with a group and relax over a really powerful drink.
Don't eat the hotdogs. Not pretty. And, for a divey place, the pitcher prices weren't so divey. But that's when I was poor, so I probably wouldn't care as much now.
They do have decent pool tables and a smoking patio. And you're in Cupertino, so a place that's open past 9 pm is fairly hot stuff.
i've been passing by this place since i was in the fourth grade, and i've never set foot into this place until now. it's been literally almost exaclty half a decade since i've been drinking legally, and i can't believe i've never been here before.
i wasn't sure what to expect to find in here. it's an goofy-looking little tavern, kind of divey, nothing overly weird on the walls (save for the money - see below). there are two pool tables, a dart board, a jukebox, a couple flatscreens. a poster from the 80s of a woman holding a cue stick. a popcorn machine in the corner. it looks like a bar that has been here forever, and doesn't need to do anything special to attract new people - you either come here or you don't. the crowd is mostly people in there 40s or older; we're probably the youngest people in here. everyone is loud and loose in here, having fun, and no one looked at you weird or asked what the hell you're doing here. i loved this place immediately.
there is money taped/stapled to the walls and to the rafters that support the ceiling. they are dollar bills, ones and fives, scribbled with names or funny sayings. according to Amy, the bartenderess, this hearkens back to saloon days, when people would come by and leave an extra dollar or two, writing their names on it so that one day when they pass by they can get a drink when they really need it. it seems that the tradition at this particular saloon (which was constructed in the early 20th century) started about 15 years or so ago, after paul and eddie's descendants sold the place and it was remodeled. she showed me a dollar bill on the wall that must be at least that old. it looked like it was disintegrating right on the wall, but you could still make out that it was dedicated to someone.
my buddy, who was here with me (and was actually celebrating his quarter century birthday), said that a long time ago this building was called "the church." it may have been a church at one point. the men in cupertino would ditch their wives and say that they're going "to church" - meaning that they're going to attend service in the local watering hole. in my current state of mind (that is, drunk), it made a lot of sense to me.
anyways. there must be a couple hundred, maybe close to a thousand dollars in USD 1's on the walls here. not as much you'd think by looking at them, but more than you'd guess. the beams are literally papered over with dollar bills. in case you're thinking about stealing some, you probably can't reuse them very easily - all of the dollar bills on the walls are drawn or written over.
i asked the bartender what it took to stick a dollar on the wall. he was coming by to collect tips. "nothin," he said. "it's just whatever you want." he brought over a bucket of markers and tossed me a dollar from the tips he was collecting. i asked if he was sure about this, and he just shrugged nonchalantly. he didn't want the dollar if i was going to use it.
i felt a deep and abiding love for all of humanity. i wanted to leave them a $20 tip. this is what people are like when they truly have no agenda, when they truly care, when they want to give you what you need, just a way to express yourself.
With a blue marker, i scribbled FESTIZIO RULES on the face of the dollar bill, right over george washington. I colored around it in green, then colored in the spaces around the letters in red. the lyrics "i wanna be a rock star", by nickelback, drifted out over the jukebox. i'm not kidding. i wasn't sure which part was more relevant - the "wanna be" part, or the "rock star" part. but either way, i thought it was funny and sort of apropos. i made a mental note to include it in my review entry.
later, when Amy came by again to refill our beers and waters, she explained to me the story mentioned above. I told her that my dollar bill was for my band, and that this dollar is kind of important to me. she immediately grabbed my decorated dollar out of the tip cup (it was collected earlier), came around the side, and stapled my dollar to one of the rafters. as she did this, i felt again my love for all humanity, and reinforced my belief that there are good people in the world.
and so, FESTIZIO RULES is immortalized in paul and eddi'e's pool and darts. if you walk through the doors you can see it hanging over the vodka bottles, near the section of the bar closest to the entrance.
FESTIZIO RULES. let's get drunk.
The drinks here are powerful and cheap. Bartenders are friendly.
This is the best dive bar in the area!
Used to be that on any given night you would find me here... until I moved to Mountain View and started working "normal" hours. I still regularly make the drive to hang out in the best place EVER.
I have lived in Cupertino for the past 17 years. It has gone through alot of changes. Paul and Eddies has stayed the same. It a relaxing neighborhood bar. This is a fun place to hang out with friends, play some darts, pool, and listen to music. The bar tenders are friendly.
You got to love this place! The joint is kept exceptional clean and maintained, even the bathrooms. The drinks are as good as any for this type of establishment and the bartenders are friendly. What makes it exceptional is the great people that frequent this place. Best time to visit Friday or Saturday night is around 10:30pm. BTW- if you want free food go to a soup kitchen, this is Cupertino! Have fun!!
Local dive bar hangout! Great for a place to have some beers and shoot the breeze with friends. Not a hot spot for singles and don't even bother ordering a fru-fru cocktail!!
I hate this place. It has an awful smell to it. The dart machine sucks.
This place has been my home-away-from-home watering hole for my year in California. Sadly, I'll miss it when I leave in a few weeks. Great bartender, John, on Wed/Thurs. Great juke box (except lately there's been a little too much country being played). Great location--walking distance and easy access off 85/280. Great crowd of regulars. Great pool tables. Great popcorn, nice and salty and free. And best of all--great Scotch whisky selection, especially for a dive bar, and the prices can't be beat. Perfect for a group night out or solo imbibing. I've spent many a night reading or writing on my own at the end of the bar without getting bothered (too much).
