My wife and I choose Patty's Cakes to do our wedding cake as my wife has a gluten sensitivity and they do Gluten Free cakes.
It can be very difficult to make a good gluten free cake (trust me we have tried a lot of them) However, the wedding cakes they make are so good, you really don't know you are eating a gluten free product! We ended up making only the top tier of the cake gluten free and the rest of the cake tasted just as amazing! (I could barely taste the difference)
On the day of the wedding, the delivery crew arrived when we were told they would and the cake tasted just as great as it did during the tasting.
Had to order two dozen cupcakes for work a couple days ago and couldn't help but order a cake ball while I waited for them to prepare my order, and I'm so glad I did.
Before I headed back to Los Angeles, I knew I had to stop by again to pick up some for my roommates! Can't wait to try the pumpkin cake ball! I highly recommend this place because the food is amazing, everyone is super friendly and it's a cute little shop that I will surely visit again next time I'm in the area!!
Outstanding cupcakes. Also, full line of gluten free.
Patty's has figured out how to make a wide array of wonderful and interesting flavors. The people who work here treat every customer like family. Try it once - you'll be back for more!
Tried your cupcakes and cake balls tonight and I have to say I am in love with your awesome cupcake icing ! I love how fluffy it is and it is not overly sweet. It is juat the right amount of sweet. The cake part is so moist and just melts in your mouth ! Would definitely love to try more flavors in the future :)
The cakeballs were so yummy too ,especially the chocolate ones with almonds and coconut.
Thank you Patty's Cakes for making the cake of my dreams for my wedding day!! Not only was it amazing on the outside, it was Just as amazing on the inside!!
Once again, Patty does the job! We ordered my baby shower cake from her and the cake was beautiful and tasted amazing! You cannot go wrong with the lemon cake with raspberry filling. Patty's frosting is fantastic - not sugary fondant that is inedible. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Yelp 2014 Challenge #52/100
32 Standard flavors!
That's more than Baskin Robbins :P
Sigh. The yelp offer half lied to me.
It was buy 3 get 1 free cupcakes :(
I only bought 1. The eclair, which had tons of flavor in the frosting and the cupcake was moist, but there was something missing from its neighbor, Hapa cupcakes. But they have a way better variety. WAYYY better.
They're both way better than the ones you and I could make.
They do take some time to get your cupcake, which I may suspect is because they make the bottom pre-made and the top is where its made-to-order. The lady was also kind enough to include a B1G1 free card in the box of the one cupcake I had.
OH YEAH some cupcakes are GLUTEN FREE AS WELL~

I called in desperate need of a birthday cake and they were willing to work with my time frame and wants for the birthday cake. And many enjoyed the presentation and taste of the cake. So thumbs up for service and accommodation and taste.
When I went to pick up my cake, I checked into yelp which states 1 free cupcake or cake ball... So I was super stoked, but apparently it's buy 3 get 1 free. Out of everything I really enjoyed the red velvet and Elvis. Both just melt in your mouth and had the perfect texture.
Besides the cupcakes, I got the smores cake ball and it was so delicious! Sweet overload... In a good way.
My boss got me a baby shower cake from here, so I can only speak of that and nothing of the store.
Patty's served up a perfectly fluffy chocolate cake with chocolate chips & white frosting with a adorable penguin on skates & a hockey stick. :) So fitting as I love both penguins & my LA Kings! (Who just beat the ducks! But I digress...)
The frosting was fresh cream & everything was the right amount of sweetness. Very light & non-guilt ridden! Hehe. The only flaw I saw was that part of the cake was uneven (to a quarter inch!) & it was covered up by about a inch of frosting to level out with the rest of the cake. Meh, overall it was still pretty spectacular.
Definitely on my to visit list & I'll keep them on my mind for any future events!
It was a week ago 10/20/14 that I walked into Patty's Cakes with the intention of getting a Birthday cake for my wife that would have a *wow* factor. I've read all the reviews and looked at all the pictures on Yelp for Patty's cakes and I have to say I was impressed. I walked into the bakery and instantly the reality show *Cake Boss* went through my mind. That's right I was going in for a *cake consultation* not with Buddy Valastro of *Cake Boss* but with Kori of Patty's Cakes. I was at a loss for words; I didn't know there was so many factors that go into a cake. Round, square, fancy, plain, quarter sheet, half sheet, butter cream, ganache. The list goes on and on. Thankfully Kori helped me to navigate through all the * cake lingo*. Basic questions that Kori asked me: how many people is it going to serve? 8-10 people, what's your wife's favorite cake?Red velvet
What cartoon character or what is she interested in? Hello Kitty. After the basics were established we went onto the good ol internet to select a Hello Kitty image that would represent Halloween and birthday. It seemed like I spent an eternity at Pattys cake that day trying to pick out the perfect hello kitty image. Throughout the whole time, Kori was very patient and very understanding to a cake *newbie* like myself. In the end it was all worth it to see the reaction my wife and her coworkers had when her cake was revealed to her today on her B Day. Thank You so Much Kori and Pattys cakes for making this day memorable.
This place is awesome! I bought 3 different cupcakes and a cake ball and they were all delicious! The flavors were lemon raspberry, peanut butter and jelly, banana, and a s'mores cake ball. I loved all of them, and Patty's gives out coupons and they have a great check-in offer. Like others have said, the cake balls are really big and they're very moist and dense. They're the perfect size and indulgence for a satisfying dessert.
I'm such an indecisive person but the guy behind the counter was very patient with me as I stared with my jaw dropped at their huge wall of flavors. The cake balls are behind a glass counter at the front but they frost the cupcakes in the back as soon as you order them. They also offer free fruit infused water and a table to sit at while you're waiting. Patty's is great - I'll definitely keep them in mind the next time I need a cake or cupcakes for an event. They do weddings, too.
I tried the Red Velvet cupcake.
It was very moist and the cream was very creamy. Good large sized cupcake for the price.
But, the cake did not have much flavor and neither did the cream.
I'm willing to give them another try, but thus far, I like Cupcake Blake in Fullerton and My Delight Cupcakery in Ontario better.
Wonderful experience! My cake was on time and in perfect condition on my wedding day! But most important it taste so good! I was asked a few times where I got it made. The price is not bad either. They were a pleasure to work with. I can not express how yummy the cake was and pretty. I totally recommend them to friends and family.
My husband and I went in and did not really like the vibe of the store--it felt too much like a homemade bakery store. The lady was a bit impatient with us (because we were first time there and the menu was unnecessarily complicated). We tried the chocolate cake, the lemon drop, and the vanilla cake. Only the lemon drop was good. We did not like the texture of the vanilla cake--it was too airy and tasted like those you could buy at the grocery stores.... The chocolate cake itself was okay, but their frosting was not buttercream but simply whipped cream, which made the cupcake taste really cheap.
Having tried the delicious cupcakes here before and hearing reviews from friends about their wedding cakes we knew we had to get our wedding cake here. We met with Phillip for the tasting and made our decision. I went in with a few different photos and we took a few ideas from different images and created our own design. On the big day everyone raved about the cake. We took the top tier home but had to leave on our honeymoon the next day so we decided to freeze it. Two weeks later we came back and finally got to eat our cake, which still tasted amazing! We look forward to visiting the shop for our cupcake fix.
My husband and I got married six months ago. Patty's Cakes was phenomenal! The customer service was excellent. They were able to draw the cake we wanted and worked with our budget. As well as provided a delicious complimentary cake tasting. They were always available to any quesitons we had. We had a beautiful pink and white cake. It was delicious. We served yellow cake with chocolate mouse filling for our guests and chocolate cake with butter cream filling for our cake. The cake was delicious, moist, and intricate. We still get compliments on the cake six months later. Patty's will be providing every cake we need for the rest of our life celebrations! I won't go anywhere else!
For my wedding I looked at many different cake shops in Orange County and went to a few different tasting buts Patty's really was the best choice I could have made! They were so easy to work with, make great cakes and have reasonable prices. I would recommend Patty's Cakes to anyone!!
I love Sprinkles, so it's ok for me. This is near my work. I heard about them thru work.My first time and I wanted some help. And the girl in the counter is so excited to see not me but the guy behind me LOL. I ask questions and at the same time she was taking the order on the guy behind me. They are not busy. So ok she's not really happy to help me so I said just give me chocolate cupcakes. Not going back here again. I'll go to the Sprinkles cupcake ATM.
I'm in love with cupcakes!! So my sisters bought me two cupcakes from this place and they were amazing!
Neapolitan - has a white cake which was moist, and has a chocolate and strawberry frosting and it was really good. The frosting is not too sweet and it's really light, not heavy and overbearing. It was great! I normally like very sweet frosting, but the light taste of the frosting worked well with the cake.
Piña Colada - my favorite out of these two. I loved the pineapple filling and the white cake was perfectly baked, not dry at all. The coconut on top tasted fresh and was delicious!
I plan to visit this place myself next time around to try some more!
I brought my son after school to this place and its a cute lil shop. They have a variety of choices for cupcakes and cake balls. We got 2 cupcakes and a cake ball. My son got the chocolate fudge & it was perfectly sweet. I got the red velvet w/cream cheese mousse & it had a great taste. I only took a bite out of the banana cake ball but it was absolutely delicious. Coming back here forsure.
We searched for a place that could cater to our dietary needs for our wedding. We decided it would be a good idea to look locally and support smaller local businesses. We had heard about Patty's cakes through our neighbor. We couldn't get any more local than Patty's. Patty was really helpful and accommodating. We were able to get gluten free AND use the egg substitute, which is apparently not a popular request, but she did it for us. We were really happy with the cake and the personal attention we got from her. It was a hit and it was beautiful. She gave us a lot of options to fit our budget. All we had to bring her was the flowers we wanted to use on the cake and she handled the rest. We would recommend Patty's Cakes to anyone looking for a wedding cake, or just to stop in and get a cupcake or twenty. Thanks Patty!
Our favorite so far is the Neopolitan and Red Velvet.
I do have one gripe with their customer service. One day we called about 10 minutes before closing letting them know we were 10 away from arriving per the GPS and they said they couldn't guarantee they would still be open, what's up with that?
First of all, whoever invented cakeballs needs to be given some sort of awesomeness award. I mean just the improved icing to cake ratio should be reason enough!
So a little bit of history, my first review of Patty's years ago was just so so. It wasn't great, it wasn't horrible, just straddling that middle line.
Fast forward to yesterday, my friend's baby shower where she had a platter of red velvet and smores? rocky road? cake balls as well as PB&J, and strawberry chocolate (?) mini cupcakes laid out amongst a bevy of other desserts. At the time, I didn't know these had come from Patty's, but they did look quite appetizing.
Upon approaching that table, the first thing I went for was the PB&J cupcake. I mean, you can't go wrong with PB&J anything. Right at that first bite, my nod of approval was instantaneous. Wow, i wish these weren't so mini-sized! Everything about it was just right.
Eventually, I got suckered into "going halfsies" on the red velvet cake ball which unfortunately, wasn't too pronounced in "red velvety-ness" but still a worthy bite nonetheless. Generally I tend to shy away from overchocolatey pastries because they can be a bit too rich for my palate, but this particular one wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. It had a bittersweetness to it which I appreciated.
Then it hit me, I still didn't know which bakery these had originated and that's just not proper! So earlier this morning, i asked my friend who then sent me a yelp link. I clicked on the link and was shocked to see "Update My Review". I was surprised cause surely I'd remember cupcakes and cake balls like these. It wasn't until I read my old review that I realized which bakery this was!
Wow, very much improved from my first Patty's experience. I really was impressed and in awe even.
We had Patty's Cakes provide our wedding cake and it was just perfect! The tasting appointment was fun because Patty is really funny and clearly enjoys her job! Even more important the cake came out delicious and pretty - it looked exactly how we had talked about in our tasting appointment! The fact that they will include two flavors in a single layer of cake (so each piece has two flavors) is a unique twist!
Patty's Cakes was really familiar with our venue, and we didn't have to do a single thing. The cake just showed up exactly where and when it was supposed to. I'm so glad we went with this vendor. Plus, all of our interactions with Patty's staff were professional and pleasant. Everyone that works there is friendly and helpful and a joy.
We can't wait to come back on our anniversary and get some cupcakes in our wedding cake flavors. (Because we already ate our top tier... we were unable to resist... and it was delicious.)
Amazingly, I don't feel bad about eating cupcakes from here!
They are technically made to order here. I think they only stuff the cupcakes and top them when someone orders. At least I sure hope so since they make you wait a while and there's not cupcakes in the front or a display case (only for the cake balls).
Staff: friendly and helpful; one of them is kinda impatient though.
All the cupcakes are very airy and light, like a little delicious sweet cloud of yumminess! The cake itself does not feel dense or overbearing and the mousse is just a light touch of flavor added on.
My favorites: White Cake Ball, Banana Split, White with White, and Neopolitan.
Highly recommend ordering ahead if you can.
This is just a review on our wedding cake tasting.
We were able to book our complimentary tasting with Patty's Cakes on a Wednesday evening. Their shop was already closed, so it was nice and private. We were offered 3 cakes to try, along with several fillings to try. We surprisingly really liked the banana cake and the white cake, and I liked the red velvet. Their prices are reasonable (about $4 per serving) and delivery to our venue in south Orange County was about $50.
Only drawback is that they don't let you try the other cakes we were more interested (coconut or carrot). They do take credit card though! One to consider if you're planning your wedding. Check them out.
Patty's cake is a hidden gem. I have lived in Fullerton for 10 plus years. I was driving by and decide to stop to try some cupcakes because I was looking for a wedding cake. We sat down with Patty herself and that should tell you something. We had a great tasting and decide right then and there the were the absolute best. We got so many compliments about hot delicious are wedding cake was. Thank You Thank You
Ok So this is my 3rd review on Pattys Cakes... Third's a charm :) So after my horrible experience last year, the owner sent me a genuine message apologizing and offering credit for the amt of my order, unfortunately for me, I didn't see the message until about 6 months later!! Luckily, the owner was kind enough to keep his word and I had some PRETTY and DELICIOUS lemon and banana cupcakes for a fathers day BBQ :) The lemon was super moist & delicious, the banana ones were just like I had remembered them the very time time I tried time..HEAVEN in my mouth!! Thanks to Phil and the great staff at Pattys for making up the bad experience I had and turning it all around. I will keep coming back as long as the cupcakes and cake balls stay as amazing as they are :)
Patty's Cakes did our wedding cake and we couldn't be more pleased with how the cake turned out. The order and delivery/set up process was smooth and efficient, and the cake was stunning and true to the vision communicated. Most importantly, the cake was delicious. We chose to white cake and bavarian frosting alternating with layers of chocolate cake and fudge. Both were a huge hit, but the white/bavarian combo was particularly outstanding. Our guests raved about the cake; we only wish we had more left over.
This place is still #1 for birthday cakes to cupcakes around the whole LA & OC area. I've been to places that were featured competitors on cupcake wars and still they are close but still far from what you experience at this amazing shop!!! Cake balls are so good too!
Only thing I hate is that prices not just here but almost every cupcake joint has a price tag of $3 to $5 a cupcake. Why is that?!? Oh well this place can take my money because my tastebuds know that when it comes to flavor, moisture, texture, taste, & service, I will not be disappointed!!! =)
My first order from Patty's Cakes was in Nov 2010 when I ordered cupcakes for Thanksgiving at my house. Not only were the cupcakes pretty to look at and fit in perfectly with my fall decor, they tasted amazing! I also ordered some of their famous cake balls and I have to say that I am in LOVE with the Chocolate Banana and S'mores. They are little pieces of heaven in my mouth.
We're coming up on 4 years of being loyal customers simply because their cakes, cupcakes and cake balls are the BEST!
Thanks Patty's Cakes for making my tastebuds and belly happy!
The BEST Cake Balls in the history of forever. So moist and delicious. My favorite is the funfetti, next the lemon! Anything you get will be the best you have ever had. They have great email deals so join their email list and get yourself some amazing Patty's Cakes!
My wedding was back in July and we got our cake at Patty's! Originally my husband was going to bake our wedding cake all by himself but after a few test cakes and a lot of stress we decided we just had to have someone make one for us. My mother-in-law recommended this place as she had a friend who knows Patty.
We had an awesome experience there! We made the drive from Huntington Beach which wasn't bad at all and once we got there we tried some different cake flavors and various frosting and fillings. I already had a pretty clear picture of what I wanted the cake to look like and Patty was so helpful with choosing exactly the design that I wanted.
Orchids were a main decoration at our wedding so we mentioned that we wanted them on the cake and she needed us to bring in the flowers so that they could be placed before they were delivered.
Well of course I was so stressed and busy that the day before we didn't make it over there to drop off the flowers ! My bestie called and talked to them and Patty put them on herself the day of the wedding before my guests had arrived at the wedding reception site.
The cake was delicious and affordable for our budget which was tight! It was so pretty and came out exactly like I wanted it! I was so relieved to be in good hands with our cake since it's such an important aspect of a wedding!
I definitely recommend this place to brides add well to everyone! When we were there it was very busy and their delicious cakes and cupcakes are obviously so great that they sell themselves !
Thanks Patty! So much !!!
We learned about this establishment from a good friend of ours who highly recommended the place. I also read reviews from Yelp and so my fiance and I went and checked the place out. Mind you, we needed our wedding cake in a week. Philip helped us and in 20 minutes we had picked out our cake and we were happy with what we chose. We are so happy Philip was able to deliver on the cake in such a short amount of time. And best of all, the cake was very delicious. Our guests had nothing but praise for our cake which put the "icing" on our already beautiful wedding. Thank you Philip and Patty from Patty's cakes. God bless you!
Patty's Cakes is THE BEST in the OC!!! We used Patty's Cakes for our wedding at the Summit House in Fullerton on 02/16/14. Phillip was super helpful and we had a complicated order because I (the bride) am allergic to dairy and some guests were gluten free, but they worked with us to make it enjoyable for all of our guests. We went with a cupcake display for the guests and a dairy-free wedding cake topper for the the bride and groom! It was the best of both worlds, and our dairy free cake was not only absolutely gorgeous, but it was SO delicious! Patty's helped make our Day perfect! They are friendly, easy to work with, and they take care of the set-up; we didn't have to worry about anything at all with them. I would recommend Patty's Cakes to everyone! Seriously, these guys are the professionals. Trust them with your special event- you will not be sorry!

Established in 1985.
It all started as a hobby for Patty back in 1985, decorating cakes for fun as she raised her 3 boys as a single mom. This hobby soon blossomed into a full time business which Patty ran from her Fullerton, California home while also participating in community roles such as the PTA, Club Scouts, Booster Club President, Assistance League and more.
With dreams of one day having her own shop she continued to decorate year after year. Along the way she baked the dessert cakes twice weekly for Disneyland's Exclusive "Club 33" for four years, and created the wedding cake for Hollywood Stars Amanda Pays and Corbin Bernsen of LA Law.
In search of a new journey after selling his previous company on the NYSE, Patty's middle son Philip joined Patty's Cakes as co-owner, set to handle the business operations and marketing. Pulling together resources from kindhearted friends and family, a store location was found and transformed. In October 2010, Patty's dream of having her own Cake shop became a re
The cakes are always so good and the designs are beautiful.
Bonus for me that the alcohol-infused cupcake was chocolate.
They'd do great, considering how yummy their cupcakes are.
