Way overdue but better late than never.
This is the only place I order my cakes from and I will continue to be a loyal customer until they shoo me away for too much business. Need proof? Check out my niece's birthday cakes for the past 3 years...
My brother, Sean Le, was a contestant on Masterchef Junior season 2 and he has a love and elevated palette for high quality desserts. I knew I wanted to order from a bakery with quality products.
The moment I walked into Patty's Cakes, it smelled amazing! I ordered the pre made cake online early that morning, used a 5 dollar off coupon, and chose a time to pick up the cake for my brothers birthday that evening. The vanilla cake with bavarian cream and raspberry filling looked pretty, simple yet elegant. I ordered the pumpkin cupcake which was soooo delicious and Elvis cupcake which was ok. My brother agrees the cake is super moist and the cream not too sweet but perfect!
The service was wonderful, I was greeted warmly and helped by 2 lovely ladies who patiently answered all my questions. My items were bagged together- the cupcakes on top of the cake. When I came home and opened the boxes, the cake Masterchef design was a little smeared but my brother didn't mind. I would suggest items to be bagged separately in the future to avoid damage.
Would highly recommend for quality taste!
I have Celiac Disease. Finding a good Gluten Free cupcake started to feel like I was searching for a Unicorn. Then I found Patty's. Sweet cupcake magic has been restored into my life! I feel like I'm eating just a scrumptious cupcake for the first time since being diagnosed! For the first time "gluten free" isn't a "flavor" & it isn't a texture. I get to enjoy a cupcake as cupcakes should be enjoyed!
By far, the BEST Gluten Free cupcakes I have EVER had, I've tried a lot of them too.
THANK YOU PATTY'S!!!
PS: Their peanut butter frosting is to die for. If I could live off of it I would.
What the heck Fullerton? Really? I'm starting to think the review for free cupcake deal is the reason why there's so many stars for this place. I don't need a free cupcake so I'll write a very honest review. These cupcakes taste as good as the ones I make at home with my daughter...which doesn't say very much. For my daughter's birthday I drove near and far in search of the best cupcakes to give to guests attending her party. Let me just say this place didn't even make the cut as the top 5 best!!! If you're planning to drive from afar to come here...I'd say save yourself the trip because this place is all hype. And I'm suuuuure yelp will probably move this review to the bottom to hide my opinion, but I don't care. My review is REAL & HONEST.
Also, my little niece & nephew won't even eat it! What does that say?
Love love love their mini cupcakes! They are like heaven in your mouth.
Tried the full size cupcakes and haven't found a favorite yet - they were good, but I wasn't captivated like I was when I had the minis.
Would definitely recommend - the staff are super nice and they have a huge selection of flavors. Enjoy!
The gold standard of cupcakes, and right in our backyard. I've tried many of their flavors and have honestly never been disappointed. It's all about their frosting, but even the cake part is moist and incredible.
So far, my favorite has to be the Elvis, but the Pumpkin Chocolate is giving it a run for its money.
We ordered our wedding cake from Patty's! One of the best decisions for our wedding. Cake was excellent, fillings and creams were not overly sweet! Cake was moist and many compliments throughout even after our wedding was over. Price wasn't too bad either. Weddings are expensive to plan and the wedding cake could be something you can budget on: # of tiers, size of the cakes, design, etc. Patty and Philip were so accommodating, we were really happy with our choices. We chose a simpler design and went with 3 tier cake and 3/4 of a sheet cake for extra servings! Lemon raspberry with Bavarian cream was my favorite. My husband loved the banana cake with chocolate mousse. They were close by to our reception venue so delivery was smooth and easy. Highly recommended!
Went into Patty's Cakes looking for a wedding cake.
We met with Patty for a consultation, she greeted us with a big smile and excitement. We did a cake tasting and she brought out multiple flavors we could choose from, they were all delicious. So we chose a flavor for the cake. When we saw the cake at our wedding it was so beautiful with hidden Mickeys because my wife loves Disney lol. Anyways to wrap it up, cake was good Patty was just the greatest and I look forward to having another cake made by Patty's Cakes in the future.
Had their cupcakes for the first time today and omg I'm hooked! They were gone within minutes!
We ordered the chocolate carmel salty, dos PB & J, peanut butter with chocolate fudge, and the chocolate with peanut butter mousse. They were all amazing but the chocolate with peanut butter mousse was my fav. It was so light and melt in your mouth good. Definitely didn't feel guilty after eating them.. Which could also be dangerous..
Service was great as well. Employees were helpful with flavor descriptions when we didn't know what to get initially.
Overall great place! We're coming back on Monday to have more!
Patty's Cakes was the second bakery we went to for our wedding cake. The flavors, options, and friendliness of the staff far exceeded our expectations and their competition. If you want a delicious & worry-free cake/dessert for your event I would HIGHLY recommend using Patty's Cakes. I can't WAIT for our one year anniversary ... we get a FREE cake! Mmmm!!!
This was my first time trying Patty's cakes, it was included in my package and to be honest I didn't really care too much for the cake in the beginning. When I went to the the cake tasting and saw all the beautiful designs and tried all the different fillings I knew that the cake would be a big part of my wedding. My cake looked beautiful and it tasted even better, everybody loved it and they all wanted more. Thankfully we had a big piece left over which I had my mother in law take home and everybody ate cake for a week because it was that good. Thank you Patty's cakes!
First off, I have to give credit where credit is due and say that based on the cupcakes and cake balls ALONE, this place deserves 5 stars. The cupcakes are sooooo perfectly moist and not overly sweet which is seriously a home run when it comes to cupcake/cake places. The icing on top is more of a light, cool-whip-esque, mousse and is just perfect.
I struggled between 2 and 3 stars because the cakes were so good but the customer service was sooooo bad. Unfortunately I had to base this review heavily on the latter because the service I received bugged me the entire ride home. I went this morning (Wednesday) with my aunt and the girl working the register was not happy to be there (or at least that's how she made me feel). It was my first time there and I had no idea what to order..snippets of our conversation:
"I've never been here, what's your most popular cupcake?"
"They're all popular, you just choose whatever you like"
"Are your cake balls good?"
(...okay...no further help? No advice? You could've told me the dirt flavored cake balls were the best and I would have bought them from you!)
"Okay your total is $15"
"Oh, I'm sorry I'm not done ordering"
(Silent eye roll)
After I was done ordering, she turned her back without a word or any acknowledgement to go to the back and from what I heard, seemed to be having a more pleasant conversation with the person back there about a tv show she wanted to catch. The nicest thing she said was, "Have a good day" at the end of our interaction and even then I feel like she forced it.
I hate that I based my review on such a negative customer experience when the cakes really are good. But had they not been PHENOMENAL (like they were), based on my experience with that cashier, I would definitely not go back. The whole experience was awkward and unwelcoming. Based on the other reviews, it seems like everyone else had both fantastic cupcakes AND service so idk, maybe I just caught her on a bad day ¯\_("/)_/¯
Had the eclair and it won me over. I don't need the donut version anymore when I can have a perfectly moist, not overly-sweet cupcake that tastes more delicious than any freshly made donut I've ever had!
AND it was served with a smile during my first visit ever (she was so patient with my indecisiveness). Oh! Did I mention this particular cupcake is gluten free? How is it so scrumptious?!!! You have to try it.
I will be back, my little Fullerton gem.
This summer I had ordered gluten free cupcakes online and picked them up just a few hours later. They were for my friends birthday and he is gluten intolerant. We have tried many different gluten free baked goods but these cupcakes and cake balls are by far the best around!!!
Helped throw a party this weekend and the cake was ordered from Patty's. I know everyone was happy with the presentation and the giant cake was almost all gone by the end of the night!
Thank you thank you!
My husband and I got married this past September at Orange Hill Restaurant, and Patty's Cakes provided our cake. When we went to the tasting we were very impressed! All the flavors are delicious and the design options are beautiful. The people working there are very nice and helpful. We chose the white cake with a raspberry/ lemon filling, and also a layer of red velvet with a chocolate chip filling. Everyone loved the cake and we are looking forward to ordering from them again soon.
Patty saved the day when she helped me with a wedding cake a few weeks before my wedding. Long story short, my original cake person could not deliver (should have just gone with a professional from the start), and I had to scramble to find a wedding cake. That's when I found Patty's on Yelp, and when I reached out to her, she was understanding and helped me get a cake right away! They also had a good working relationship with my wedding venue, Summit House, so everything worked out perfectly in the end. Thank you Patty!!
**Chocolate fudge cupcake** Fullerton
I had such a difficult time finding this place OMG you cannot see it from the street at all. It's actually facing COMMONWEALTH, not RAYMOND Ave.! It's on the corner of Raymond/Commonwealth so just turn into the plaza, it's a very tiny place. I'm really in love with the chocolate fudge frosting WOW. That's the only reason why I gave it 4 stars lol. But what I don't like is that there is no display of cupcakes. They do have photos. I guess they rather make it as you order it so they don't waste cupcakes and also they won't run out of one flavor. I am just used to looking at the cupcakes and picking out which ones look good. So it was a little odd for me but the photos on the wall help.
They do offer gluten-free cupcakes. They have typical flavors like chocolate cake or vanilla cake and you pick your frosting. Another thing I do not like is the cream filling. Most people might like it but honestly, there's way more than enough frosting on top and in the middle more cream. I feel like I barely had enough cake, just a ton of sweetness. **EDIT* I was just told that I can request it without the filling since they do make your cupcakes when you order it. Good to know!
Customer service is okay but they aren't that welcoming, just stare at you until you order. That kind of people makes me feel so awkward lol. Cupcakes were good though. Average price is $3.50. They come in cute pink boxes. I think if you buy 3, you get 1 free with the Yelp check-in if they are still offering the deal. I'm not going back though for a very long time because I have bought enough cupcakes for now.
I do prefer Hapa Cupcakes because the owners are super nice and they always remember me, they know what I like and I just feel more special there lol. But definitely worth checking out here too. I read that they make good cakes for weddings and such. They do have a tiny table here in case you can't wait to eat your cupcakes like me. They have water too. BTW, the gluten-free cupcake tasted just as good, I really couldn't tell the difference at all. If you're a chocolate lover, you definitely want to try out their chocolate fudge cupcake. Yum yum.
Thanks for reading! :)
Great cupcakes! The white cake flavor is better than the chocolate cake. Both cake flavors are very moist and not too sweet. The chocolate cake is a bit plain, need more chocolate flavor. The mousse icing is awesome, light and fluffy, and not too sweet, just right. If you don't want more mousse fillings in the middle of the cupcake, just let them know, otherwise there will be a little bit of the fillings in the cupcakes. We like the coconut white cupcakes, red velvet, banana, pina colada, strawberry mousse white cupcake, and butter pecan. Will be back to try different flavors, as there are many to choose from.
Pattys cakes is awesome. So good that we had our wedding cake made by them. We recently came back after our year anniversary to buy some cupcakes.
the location is tucked away in back of a shopping center. They are by themselves and outlasted the rest of the shops there.
Remember to use the yelp check in to get Buy 3 get one free.
All the cupcakes are amazing and they just know how to do their cakes. If you're around, come quick!
They are open 6 days a week. Closed on Sundays and open till 4 on Saturdays

Established in 1985.
It all started as a hobby for Patty back in 1985, decorating cakes for fun as she raised her 3 boys as a single mom. This hobby soon blossomed into a full time business which Patty ran from her Fullerton, California home while also participating in community roles such as the PTA, Club Scouts, Booster Club President, Assistance League and more.
With dreams of one day having her own shop she continued to decorate year after year. Along the way she baked the dessert cakes twice weekly for Disneyland's Exclusive "Club 33" for four years, and created the wedding cake for Hollywood Stars Amanda Pays and Corbin Bernsen of LA Law.
In search of a new journey after selling his previous company on the NYSE, Patty's middle son Philip joined Patty's Cakes as co-owner, set to handle the business operations and marketing. Pulling together resources from kindhearted friends and family, a store location was found and transformed. In October 2010, Patty's dream of having her own Cake shop became a re
