Let's be honest, this place has seen much better days but I think that's part of its charm. It is the oldest operating duck pin alley in the country, afterall.
Our friends, who moved across the country a couple years ago, planned a party here as a way to get together with friends and family of all ahes while they were in town for an extended weekend. They gave us free reign of the entire second level - they were able to bring in food and drinks, all lanes were open for use and the one lady behind the front counter on the first level was a nice as could be. The only downfall is that I *suck* at duck pin bowling. I was getting my butt beat by the little ones and the grandparents. Other than that, it was really a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon. -

I've been looking forward to bowling here for ages and when we came in town for the holiday we went with our family for a nice night out. The place looks to be in slight disrepair but still holds it's 1950's charm.
However the woman working the counter was so stupid that she had a had time dealing with giving us shoes and then it took another 10 minutes for her to turn on the lanes.
Once on our 3 lanes broke (literally) after each frame and we had to wait while a VERY surely guy climbed around in the pin setter and tried to fix it. After 30 minutes they moved us to other lanes which worked better, but still not perfectly.
At the end of the night the repairman came over and got very aggressive about having some of our beer.
WE WILL NEVER BOWL HERE AGAIN. -

We had friends visiting us from Spain. We told friends to come join us duckpin bowling at the oldest spot in Baltimore. It was cool that we could bowl upstairs with privacy and our own beer and pizza.
But, when another friend stopped by to say hello while we were paying to start, the staff badgered him stating that he had to pay to stay. Our friend was taking a walk and stopped into to say hello and perhaps come back to bowl...and now, he never will go there again.
Another negative, is that the lanes are timed and will turn off... -

Great B'more Experience!
Went last weekend with two other couples. For 20 bucks each we had two lanes and two hours of bowling. We kicked back, put on our excellently conditioned bowling shoes, opened a few six packs and had a great time.
I too am surprised that place isn't more packed. We were there from 9pm to 11pm and we had the downstairs all to ourselves for at least the first hour. I guess all the cool kids are at Mustang Alleys? It is a bit of a dive but everything was clean - just not brand spanking new but it was a blast and I would definitely go back. -

Old school duckpin, BYOB second floor bowling- you can't beat that. Everyone there was super nice and helpful. They offer buckets of ice for only $1.50 and the lanes, systems all worked great. Make a reservation though- the place was packed while we were there!

Love it!! Fun place to hang out with friends and/or family. We took our daughter and a friend here and they had as much fun as we did. You can bring your own food and drink, places to sit down and enjoy it before, during or after your game. Great experience.

This place is amazing. If you are an out-of-towner, its a must for any REAL Baltimore experience. Safe neighborhood, walking distance from Fells Point, charming interior (two floors, radiators lining the alleys, cute counter).
It was a hot day, and the air-conditioning was so welcome.
Nice staff who were friendly in a Bawlmer sorta way. They really need to remind you about BYOB before you enter. I don't remember seeing it on the website.
Kinda surprised they don't actively pursue the Fells Point crowd a little more. People/families would eat this place up. -

It's a little rundown there, but I think that may be part of its charm. It's clean and the lanes seem to be well maintained. There were no technical issues to speak of when we bowled.
I don't know if I should let the word out or not, but it's much more fun than regular bowling and a great way to spend a lazy afternoon. The price is right (cheap) and I love the BYOB. -

This place is a quintessential Baltimore experience, and somewhere I always suggest bringing any visiting out-of-towners (you can guarantee them they won't find anything like this back home). It is an easy walk from Fells Point (and you can stroll around Patterson Park while you're in the area - just don't stray north of Patterson Park), and the alley is clean and quaint.
At the time of my review, the rates were $4/game and $2 for shoes - we usually play 2 games, which comes out to $10/person, which isn't too bad for an hour of duckpin bowling.
The only thing that detracts a little bit is that the staff here aren't the greatest. They aren't downright nasty, but sometimes I get the vibe that I'm not necessarily welcome there (it's a bit of a redneck vibe, if you know what I mean). It would bother me if they were preparing my food or something, but since I'm just there to bowl, I just enjoy the bowling and don't let it bother me. I recommend that you do the same, and you will have a blast. -

Duckpin bowling is always fun, and the BYOB aspect makes this place great. $13 for a night of bowling is very reasonable. But, I wish I could give it 4/5 stars! Patterson Bowling has a real divey/dumpy feel to it. And, not in a good way!

$4 games, $2 shoe rentals, BYOB, exposure to some of Baltimore's finest residents AND the guy who works there dyed his ponytail blond. What more do you need from a duckpin bowling alley?

This place is a lot of fun if you're trying to figure out how to spend a Friday or Saturday evening. The bowling is affordable, it's BYOB, and duckpin is IMO a lot more fun than regular bowling. Their equipment is a tad bit on the unreliable side, but it doesn't seriously detract from the enjoyment.

BYOB + duckpin bowling + ridiculously cheap = awesome. This place is seriously old school in lots of ways, but we still had a great time.

byob duckpin bowling alley. what's not to love? for drink walk 1 block down to the Loading Dock (@Fleet & Chester) and stock up there (best prices and selction in SE Baltimore). For food you got a lot of options but we got some pies from Hot Tomatoes on S Broadway and they were great

I can't believe I'm the first to rate this place. I love this place. It's old-school charming and oozes nostalgia, but it is the best of both worlds- they do have a computerized scoring system so you don't have to strain your brain on the math, and you can concentrate on your game. If you are into duckpin bowling, or if you are curious and new, this is a great place to learn. Just play hooky for an afternoon-- you will most likely get this place to yourself. I did just that and had a blast. This is duckpin bowling at its finest!
