This is my second favorite place behind Thai Taste on Mount Hope. The food is good and the service is pleasant. The best part of the Thai place is that they have a full bar. If you know how to make it, then they will make you anything that you want.

Also has plenty of room for a larger group of people versus other Thai places.

One of the best Thai places around. Very flavorful spices. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Brought dates, friends, and family here and they all agree. I lean towards the tofu-based entrees. Better than King and I. On par with Mamasan's. Depending on your appetite, you may find yourself taking half of the generous portions home!

I have tried every other Thai restaurant in town and always feel guilty as if I'm cheating on Pattaya.  By far the freshest ingredients are used here- the squid, the chicken, the veg, the cilantro in the delicious Tom Yum soup.  I typically order the Pad Prik Khing -which I enjoy very spicy(you can specify with a star rating), chicken, onions, peppers, green beans, thai basil.  I have tried the curry dishes as well, it seems as if gravity pulls me back to the bright, somewhat citrusy PPK.

The owner is always there to greet you at the door with a smile.  We typically always have the same server who calls my boyfriend by name-'Mr. Bryan'.  The service has always been excellent, your water glass never hits the halfway empty mark.  Appetizers, soups and entrees come quickly but are never rushed.

I rarely get dessert, but sometimes after that spice it is nice to follow up with something sweet.  I typically order the ice cream, one scoop of coconut, one of mango which is accompanied by a shortbread like cookie.

In short, I believe this is the best Thai restaurants in all of Rochester, and is in my top ten overall.  If you think the King and I is good, get your lobotomy and get to Pattaya.

*Lunch is under $10 per person, dinner a bit more pricey

Pattaya is very ok.   Our food came out lightning fast, but there was nothing special going on.  The menu warned that my gaeng ped curry would be spicy.  Not sure what definition of spicy Pattaya is referencing because that curry could have doubled for contact solution.  The mild red curry and sweet coconut milk were both appetizing though and I finished my plate.

My girl's pad thai fell pretty flat.  The sauce was very runny and did not adhere to the noodles well.  I don't know if the rice noodles weren't drained well or if the sauce wasn't given enough time to cook down.  The fish sauce was a little over powering, which was definitely surprising given how mild my dish was.

Not bad overall.  Think King and I but with friendly and attentive service.  I don't think I'll be making the trip out to Penfield for a return visit.

I'm not an expert on Thai food so I can't speak to the authenticity.  We also didn't eat there but when I picked up our food the place looked ok.  It seemed pretty big, nicely decorated and pretty clean.

Overall we loved the food.  We wanted Chinese but stopped here while we were out.  The food is fairly similar but it seemed much lighter.  Beef sattay app was just ok (tasted good bout looked kind of gray and unappetizing....it may have been steamed or something, but it did taste pretty good), chicken pad thai was delicious and the  ginger chicken was great with lots of veggies and big hunks of ginger.  We had fresh veggie spring rolls thinking we were getting fried spring rolls and they came out as leaves wrapped around lettuce

Decent panang curry. Husband ordered some Fish Triple Delight (Orange Roughy filet in spicy, sweet & sour sauce) and I enjoyed what little I am allowed to enjoy immensely (I think roughy is one of the fishes to avoid when expecting). I ordered sticky rice with my curry, and it was a little bizarre since I'm used to eating sticky rice with mango slices only for dessert. I think this may be the first Thai place I've been to where sticky rice was offered as accompaniment to the main dishes. Maybe I just haven't been paying attention.

Service was prompt and attentive. It's nice to know this place exists so that I can add this to mental repertoire of ethnic restaurants to go to while visiting the Rochester/Webster area.

This is a little known treasure in Penfield, NY. Pattya is a great lunch gig. I go there and get the Peanut Sauce dish all the time. Everyone I've taken there has loved it. They have some great spicy dished also, which aren't for the faint of heart (in a spicy way :) )

They also have an amazing Pad Thai that is one of the best in Rochester.

I hear that it's for sale, so I hope whoever buys it keeps it the way it is.

Don't get the Lemon Chicken wings if you are from Buffalo ;)

Very nicely decorated dining room and good food.

I went in for a fairly early dinner (around 4pm I think). I got the combo satay which was beef, pork, and chicken with the usual peanut dip. Very good, $6 I think. I tried the chef's special "mango shrimp" that was on an insert to the dinner menu. I'm not a big fan of the thick & gooey, overpowering sauce no matter who's serving it. This had a decent amount of spice though and I really like mango so that made up for it. There was something like 6 or 7 "50 count" shrimp and a couple other vegetables also in the sauce. There was a bowl of rice on the side too.

    The service was very good.

Oh yeah....$3 for a diet coke? What's up with that?? It was something like $25 and change for one person before tip!

I expect to feel either massive disappointment or enormous delight when I sample the food at a Thai restaurant.  I begin to understand how Roman emperors could be fine with limiting themselves to thumbs up and thumbs down.

Or not.  Because Pattaya shows me there's a third choice.  Pattaya offers two-feet-on-the-ground-solid Thai food and no emotional highs or lows.  It stakes out the middle ground by being OK.  Period.  Pattaya strikes me as earnestly competent - able to consistently produce a decent meal, but with absolutely no ambition to strive for better.

A symptom of this may be that it's seemingly impossible to customize certain aspects of individual orders.   For instance:  The food is not spicy.  If a customer loves spicy food, writes an ode to spicy food, sets the ode to music, then treats the staff to an emotional rendition in three part harmony, the customer's food will be brought out ... not spicy.

Also, while the bar area may suggest they have some expertise in making mixed drinks, that hasn't been my experience.

On a not-food note:  I don't care for the dining room's ambiance - it's more drafty than cozy, and conversation from my fellow diners seems oddly amplified.  Close-set tables can make eating here a bit of a full contact sport - I've come to expect people will bump into my chair throughout the entire duration of my meal.  But, parking is always plentiful, and I've rarely had to wait for a table.

I've been going to Pattayas for years. The food is  consistently good.  Some of my usuals include Cara Mari, Shumai, Evil Jungle and Mango Shrimp.  I was thrilled when they added brown rice to the menu. Note: it's $1 extra.  Lots of selections for vegetarians. Pattayas is my favorite Thai restaurant. My daughter lives in Buffalo and hasn't found one out there that is comparable.

We found this place by talking to some of my Thai friends who frequent here a lot. I am not an expert on Thai food at all, but I love the food here. My friends say its a little more authentic than what you can find other places in Rochester. The spicier dishes ARE pretty spicy according to their scale which is great. They have daily specials as well and do a lot of takeout. The prices are extremely reasonable relative to other places in Rochester.  I love the Panaeng Chicken dish and the Spicy Chicken. We've had a  lot of their dishes which are all good, but those are my favorite.
