4 reviews for Pat's Steak House
One of the better steak houses I have been to in a long time. It can be a bit pricey but is definitely worth the amount and quality of food that you will get.
They also have a nice wine selection to go with the menu. The menu is limited so if you love steaks this is the place for you.
But be for warned they do not take credit card so make sure you walk in with cash.
Pat's is pure old school. From the homey (literally) ambiance to the menu selections through to the payment options (cash), it's a different experience. I find their steaks rather bland, as no seasoning or treatment options are available. Great cuts of meat, but the preparation leaves much to be desired. The sides are good, and occasions where I've had other entree selections (salmon), I was very pleased. Also the fried shrimp and frog leg appetizers are really good.
I went to Pat's with very high expectations. I was told that it was the best steak in Louisville. Wow, was I disappointed. The steak was okay and I thought that the available sides were terrible. The decor and restaurant were very different from a lot of places in Louisville but that did not make up for the meal. Very high priced and lacking flavor in my opinion. Also, they did not accept credit cards, so I had to leave my wife at the table at the end of the meal so I could run to the ATM. Ridiculous!! You drop at least $100 on a couple of steaks and need to have cash? Even McDonald's takes credit cards now.
I have been to Pat's twice. Both times had excellent meals. The first time wait service was by an employee that worked there since he was 10 years old, he was 70 years old. He was fantastic. Second trip the waiter was annoying and told an off color joke to my co-workers of mixed company. They serve the sides family style and all were excellent. I split the enormous portions of battered fried pork chops with someone that had the fillet. The fillet was a better choice. Everyone of the group of 17 were happy. Good for groups if you book well in advance and get a private room.
It is true about no credit cards so heed the warnings
