I'm with Daryl on this one. I'm tired of eating at big chain restaurants because it's always the same story everywhere you go. Bad service. Thank goodness for mom and pop stores(Well, most). They actually care about their customers and most of the time put out better products than most big chains anyways. And I don't know about any one else, but I don't mind paying extra for something when I know I'm getting good service, and I know what I'm getting is freshly prepared by someone who knows and cares about their work. If you always look for bargains then I'm afraid you'll always be stuck in Bad Service Ville.
Now then...
This place is pretty close to where I work but I never got around to trying it until today. And boy am I really happy that I did. I was greeted with a smile upon entering (which you rarely get at any chain place), and since I told them I was a first-timer, they took the time to explain the menu to me (Not that it's very complicated but it's always helpful when it's your first time). Like I normally do when I go to a new place, I let them serve me whatever they please.
I was served an egg salad and pastrami sandwich with slices of avocado and all of the usual suspects (tomato, lettuce, mayo, mustard). The wheat bread was very soft and fresh and the pastrami...WOW! They explained to me that they crisp up their pastrami until it's somewhat the texture of bacon. YUM. Seriously. YUM. I've had pastrami sandwiches before but never has the pastrami been crisp. What a huge difference it makes. Surprisingly the egg salad was a great accompaniment too. I'll be back here again soon. I can't give it 5 stars yet because I've only been there once, but as we all know, consistency is key. I'll hold on to the 5th star until I'm sure this place is always this good.
I had to take some clients out for lunch and they wanted sandwiches but not from a dirty subway, I saw this place and decided to stop. Unfortunately they were closed already (4:00pm WTF?) BUT, they saw 3 of us and said they would be more than happy to feed us. They opened the door and locked it behind us, we were trapped weather we liked it or not.
The 2 ladies were very nice and recommended some tasty sandwiches, and were very helpful.
Price was pretty high for a 6 inch chips and a drink, 12 bucks or so for a cold meal is kinda high.
Although this place was better than a run down subway or quiznos, the bread lacked, and so did the selection. I wouldn't eat here again because there is so much more around this area to choose from.
Thank god I was able to expense it =P
Kudos for letting us eat after hours...
I don't know about you, but I'm tired of patronizing the big chains restaurants, just to get a simple sandwich or meal. The reason? I'm sick of being served by teenagers or soul-less employees who've set the Customer Service bar so low, it's actually gotten discouraging to eat out anymore.
A couple of people from work told me about this place, and I have to say, I see a ray of hope that restaurants do still care about their customers. From what I could tell, this appears to be a family-run business. While I waited in line, all three employees behind the counter were almost apologetic that I had to wait behind someone, assuring me that they would help me as soon as they could. Can anyone tell me the last time that happened to them when they were at either McDonald's or Subway? That's what I thought.
Kudos to them for still giving a damn about their patrons!
