Los Altos, CA
Great place in the Bay Area for Filipino food. This isn't a fast food or whole in the wall joint, it's actually a nicer sit down restaurant. It can get crowded on weekends for dinner, but I went for lunch today and everything was great! There weren't too many other customers, food was great and service was good too! We've tried several of their dishes over the years, but now, typically stick to the same few. Today, between 2 of us, we had:
- Bangus Sisig - This is a good sisig dish, although, I typically like the original one with pigs ears. But for being a non-pork dish, this is good and made with fresh bangus.
- Crispy Pata - You really can't go wrong with this...well, I suppose you can, but Patio Filipino's version is great! My 2 yr old niece even likes gnawing on the bone!
- Pinakbet - Great variety of fresh vegetables and it doesn't taste too much like shrimp paste, which I'm not a huge fan of.
And for dessert... you have to have the Buco (Halo-Halo)! Fortunately, they had some today. Last time we went later on a Friday or Saturday night and they had run out. This is their version of Halo-Halo, which they make inside a fresh buco and topped with Ube ice cream. When you're done with the gelatin contents, you can then scrape out the copra! YUM!
As far as parking, we were able to park right out on front, but they do have their own parking lot in the back. -

Yikes. There was a time I would have given PF 5 stars. It had been quite some time since I last dined here, and I hate to say it -- but this place surely has gone downhill.
My favorites were always the Crispy Binagoongan, Sizzling Bangus, and the Beef Salpicao. Visits here almost always include these three standies. This time around, I'm not too sure what happened but I can only guess the cooks back there have gotten lazy?
I have to start with the Salpicao. The Beef is usually chunkier, tastier, sizzling, and not drenched in a gravy like sauce. This time around, there were whole pieces of roasted garlic, which, as plentiful as they were, did not lend themselves one bit to the dish. This used to be so garlicky and flavorful. This time, meh and lackluster. The meat was nearly diced and a complete disappointment. I would always hold up other Salpicaos at other establishments to PF's. But no more.
The Sizzling Bangus was, well, not so sizzling. Gone are the days of expecting your "sizzling" dish to arrive at your table as such. It still tasted ok but definitely not as good as in previous experiences.
My favorite dish here is the Crispy Binagoongan. Again, chalk it up to lazy cooks or perhaps just a busy kitchen? The pork pieces were big chunks which were too big to fit in one bite. The mango and tomatoes were big chunks also -- not as nicely diced as in previous experiences.
Again, I truly hate to say it. This place was a true favorite but they've become completely inconsistent with my past experiences. Average pricing on their entrees is a little more expensive than other Filipino food joints and yet the quality is less than comparable. Sorry Patio -- I think I'm going to have to keep my distance from now on. :( -

Prices?
Mediocre, definitely not a bargain restaurant, but I think the food compensates for the prices. For 2 people you can spend well into $30 easy.
Food?
Let's put this out there: I come from a Filipino home... born from a Filipino mom who LOVES to cook. Thus, every Filipino dish automatically get's compared to Mom's cooking. With this in mind... LETS ALL GIVE PATIO FILIPINO A ROUND OF APPLAUSE. Because they truly hit the mark. So much, that even my mom looks forward to coming here (I think because she know's she get's a pass from cooking). I devote all my stars to the deliciousness of the food.
Suggestions: Beef Steak Tagalog, Pancit, and Adobo Rice.
Restaurant?
Sadly... too small. My dad is disabled and tends to get bumped into a lot while he's here. Otherwise decor and all is great--- they really do have a patio, which I never really saw used both in summer and obviously in winter.
Service?
I had to swipe two stars for this. Slow...way too slow. At first, we considered the fact that it was busy and they only had 2 sometimes even 1 server for the entire restaurant. They need more help-- possibly train the 3 people who hang out by the register?? Just a thought. You practically have to run them down to get a refill on water. It's such a tease when you see your food lined up to be served... just sitting there as the steam from the freshness slowing disappers from sitting there too long.
Unfortunately, we one found a metal strip (possibly scraped from the pan) in our pancit. We showed them and they just ignored our concern. Furthermore, we asked for no shrimp in our rice... but they must have forgot. We had them take it back-- and you could totally tell they just tried to pick out all the shrimp one by one. No bueno.
Service aside, delicious food.
Come for great food... bring your patience. Enjoy! -

Meh, I think maybe we misordered. I prefer pork sisig more tender with bigger pieces of meat. I liked the flavor of P.F.'s but didn't love the super crispy deep fried texture. The glass noodles were good but we weren't obsessed with those either. Lumpia were good but I am not sure lumpia can't be good :)
Portions were HUGE. Service was really sweet. The restaurant was a little chilly. Next time we'll try different things. -

It was a Friday evening. Bunny and I decided to meet up in Millbrae so we decided to use our Groupon that was purchased for Patio Filipino. I call up for a reservation in the afternoon and the person who responded was very polite and friendly.
The weather is rainy and cold. We aren't sure if we can make our reservation. Luckily it's just a few minutes after 7:30. As we enter, we inform the host of our reservation and are seated right away.
The menu has a lot of variety and unsure of what to order. Finally we decide on Lumpianitas (pork amd shrimp deep fried egg rolls), Combination Pancit (classic rice noddle varieties with bits of meat and vegetables, Beef Steak Tagalog (beef in soy sauce with onion and frendh fries), and Pork Sisig (diced pork with onions and jalapenos mixed with eggs) .
First comes the Lumpianitas. The portion size is large enough to be an entree instead of an appetizer. Bunny and I start eating. They are crispy and fresh. Shortly after, the Combintation Pancit comes. It's a mixture between the two different types of pancit. One of the noodles is thicker than the other. I like the variety between the meat and vegetables, especially the Chinese sausages. These portions are rather large and could have been fine with just these two items. The Pork Sisig comes next and it is tasty. We probably shouldn't have order so many dishes. I enjoyed the Beef Steak Tagalog the least. I'm not sure if it was because at this time we are starting to get full or not. The saiuce was a bit thick, making the meat salty and some of the fries were drenched.
We end up having to take some of the dishes home. The service is pretty good. Everyone is friendly and we had our water refilled several times. If in the area and more goupons come out, we may go back again. -

Let the fried (pig meat, lumpia, desert) feast begin! :8)
We saw this place on Check Please! Bay Area and had not made reservations for 4 at about 6 PM on Sunday. Having no reservations is a mistake here.
We were told that we would be looking at a 30-40 minute wait, but we chose to do so anyway. Also met another couple that saw the same program as we today and decided to drop in, and wait. But after about 20 minutes, we were seated.
Very nice ambiance: clean, well lit, classy looking. Friendly service which left us alone for a decent time while we sorted out the many choices provided in the picture-filled menu.
We largely decided to choose from what was featured on the Check Please program:
Lumpianitas (5/5); plentiful, hot, crispy, small lumpias were served with a sweet chili dipping sauce that we all really liked.
Beef Rib-Eye Tapa (2/5); not anyone's favorite. In spite of the fact that this was supposed to be Rib-eye, the thinly sliced beef strips were not very tender or juicy and taste was left wanting. It was served with a side of lightly pickled vegetables and a vinegar sauce that helped the beef some, but not enough.
Pork Sisig (4/5); FINALLY: after wanting this ever since I got into this area, I got a taste of this classic dish. Nice! It comes out in a sizzling cast iron platter; a chopped mixture diced fried cube-lets of pork in onions and jalapenos mixed with egg. Slightly tart, this was a very good and needs to be served with rice.
Ginataang Sitaw & Kalabasa (5/5); totally the BOMB! This is primarily a vegetable dish composed of Kalabaza squash chunks, thin string beans cooked in a coconut milk with chunks of fried pork meat and shrimp. If someone did not say this was Filipino cooking, I would have said it was from Malaysia or Burma, but this is one terrific dish, that again needs to have rice to serve delicious curried coconut sauce over. This was a hit for everyone and a must have.
Crispy Binagoongan (2/5); so pretty to look at, so disappointing to eat. Alas, this very pretty dish of fried crispy chunks of pork (yes more fried pork!), while an authentic Filipino recipe (also might be called Pork in shrimp paste) this was definitely an acquired taste. The pork is covered with the fermented shrimp paste and served under a stunning mound of chopped mango and tomato (see pic http://s3-media2.ak.ye...) over a japanese eggplant. The rather earthly, musty, taste of the shrimp paste is the most dominant flavor and unfortunately, was not a flavor that most of us liked. In addition, the rather rich (read: fatty) flavor of the very crunchy pork cubes was something that you must also like to appreciate this dish.
Steamed Rice (what can you say about steamed rice except it was hot, fluffy and not undercooked).
Turon Ala Mode (4/5); this is essentially two fried, crispy lumpia stuffed inside with a plantain and then drizzled with chocolate and served over vanilla ice cream. Given how full we all were from this very rich meal, this single serving, split 4 ways was a perfect palet cleanser before finishing the meal
All told: this feast as about $20 per person before tip and without drinks and we had plenty (PLENTY) to take home. We all agreed that this was a place to return to and try the other choices.
If you are new to Filipino food, this would be great place to get introduced to it, but please bring a Filipino friend (or one who'se familiar with this cuisine) to guide you. We did and we weren't sorry, in spite of the couple of entrees we didn't like as much.
So we did the Check Please! choices. Now for a return visit (or two or three) for the rest the yummy looking menu!

Although the patio seating here is limited, their menu is not and neither is their flavor. Do yourself a favor and go with a group of folks in order to get a food variety of dishes, veggies, apps etc. in. For dessert, you MUST go with the Buko con Seta, an icy-creamy orgy of various sweet beans and tropical fruits, served in a fresh young coconut and with purple taro ice cream to top it off.

The Gents' parents decided to take us here for lunch. I wasn't sure what to expect other than just another Filipino restaurant. Since I'm Filipino, I've been to plenty of Filipino restaurants so I had several places to compare it to. So it's a big deal when I say that this place was SO SCRUMPTIOUS. The best part was that we hadn't arrived when the food was ordered, but after we all sat and chatted for a bit, the food made it's way to our table. To my surprise, it was all the stuff I love! And I'm pretty picky with my Filipino food. I'm not a huge fan of the presentation or taste of it. This is why Patio Filipino will always have a special place in my heart. The food was great. The service was great. What more could you ask for?
For pictures, check out http://cheeseanddonuts... under the "Busog means full" post. It has photos of everything we ordered.
Maybe next time I go I'll actually see people sitting on the patio. Haha. Or they can just rename it Inside Seating Filipino. -

We went there to celebrate my 16 yr olds birthday as he loves traditional Filipino food. The service was terrible. You can smell the bathroom cleaner every time someone opened the bathroom door!!!! For a Sunday night it was mad crazy and the service was bad. My hubby waited 20 mins for a soda that i had to ask for 3 times! We were a party of ten so I'm sure they are used to large parties therefore that can't be the reason. Everyone raves of this place so I might try it one more time giving them the benefit of the doubt. The food was just ok. The crispy binagooaan was differently the best item!

I first dined at Patio about five years ago and had only a so-so experience, which explains why it's taken me so long to return. I just remember the food being mediocre and way over-salted. So we returned after all these years hoping to see improvements. The verdict: it's still just *all right*.
First of all, the pricing is ridiculous. $9.95 for a lumpia appetizer? Really? The food was okay. But my Grandma could cook way better than this. Pork Sisig $13.45? This dish is served with a lot of fanfare - crackling hot, smoke trailing along as the dish was brought to our table. After such a dramatic entrance, it was surprising to find the the sisig BURNT. We tried to eat it. Maybe only some of the pieces were burnt. Maybe it was only a little bit burnt. Nope, every piece was burnt and burnt black. Completely unedible.
The best part of the meal was the dessert. Overall, the service was inattentive. The only thing that would bring me back is the dessert. -

Coming here was my first time ever having filipino food other than lumpias from friends. And my experience was great! The food was excellent! Ever since that first time with a big group of friends, my husband and I have returned by ourselves with a Groupon. Definitely worth the price with a Groupon otherwise it's definitely on the pricey-side.
The service is lacking sometimes, shocking i know. Even though they have like 5 waiters standing around or behind the counter talking. They look busy, but a few of them could be more productive by circling and refilling waters and wandering amongst customers. It's always a struggle to wave someone down to refill water or get our check.
There's this one older waitress which always pushes for more rice. 1 serving of rice can feed 2 people, unless you eat TONS of rice as one person alone. But 1 serving of rice definitely feeds both my husband and I with 3 entrees. Yet she keeps saying 2 servings of rice and I have to clarify with her because she pretends not to hear. And you might as well start with "less" and you can always order more since it's already made rice. Lame waitress.
Also a note of caution, some of the dishes can be a little salty. Since this was our only experience of eating Filipino dishes, we weren't sure if this is how it is in general. And it wasn't too salty that we can't eat. You just need to eat everything with rice (which we do anyways).
Our favorite entrees are Pork Sisig, Lengua Champignon, Steak Salpicao and Crispy Pata. I wish I could try everything on the menu because I don't think we've had a bad dish so far.
The other dishes that we've tried and are good but not our preference to re-order are: chicken adobo (had too many bones, not enough meat), Beef Caldereta (big bones and wish there was more meat to it, but it had really good sauce), Patio's Sampler (ehh good to try once with a big group, but save your money for the entrees), Sizzling Softshell Crab (this was actually pretty tasty and good), and that's all I can remember.
Mhmmm patio... you are my friend. Bring out more groupons please! -
Review from Petra S.
Aside from the inconveient location and prices, this place has some pretty good dishes!
My hubby and I have since been here twice and tried the following..
Entree's:
-Chicken Adobe (came with plantains which were good) the chicken wasn't exactly my favorite due to too many little bone particles that kept getting stuck in my teeth.
-The lumpias (these are a HUGE order here and could be a meal in itself)
-The pancit ( was just OK for me)
-The garlic fried rice (I really love the flavor in this, though I do wish they actually put chopped garlic into it. Still they give you a big portion)
Desserts:
-The mango roll cake with ice cream and mango chucks (absolutely delicious and my favorite.)
-The seasonal Halo Halo (I love that this one comes in the actual coconut and is topped off beautifully with Ube ice cream and a little umbrella. Though, I could have gone without the beans/mung beans in it)
Drinks:
-Mango iced tea (refreshingly sweet and tangy)
Overall, it's a great place to get your Filipino fix and the service has been pretty friendly on both occasions. I cannot speak as to how authentic the dishes are as I don't eat this type of food too often but there are some dishes that are a hit or miss, so stick with what other reviewers recommend, at least for the first time. Check it out but do watch out for speeding cars in the area as the speed limit is quite high and doesn't give you enough time to slow down in order to look for the place/park. Last time we went, another car ended up tailing the one behind us too closely and ultimately, ended up rearing the car behind us due to not paying attention the the car breaking for another car. -

My family and I are regulars here. It's one of our go-to places for any kind of family celebration. The restaurant is really nice and the service is great. It tends to get pretty busy so if you're planning to go with a big group make a reservation well in advance.
The sizzling soft shell crab is http://bomb.com. I recommend the bangus or pork sisig and crispy pata. Buko con seta is the popular dessert. -

5 stars for great food AND service even WITH a deal.
Being a coconut, but a major foodie... I appreciate Filipino food when done right. GROUPON brought us in here and I'm glad it did. We ordered the beef steak tagalog, crispy pata, and garlic fried rice. Beef steak came with fries that were nice and crispy to soak up the nice juices. The crispy pata was very hearty with it's nice fatty goodness. I was soo full.
Service is really on point here and I don't think I ever saw the bottom of my water glass. That really impressed me and merits a 5 stars from me.
Patio Filipino, if you're listening... put out another GROUPON or even a Yelp deal and let me know! Thanks! -

Last time, I came here was for my mom's birthday last year.
It was a great surprise because I called earlier for a reservation and during that time they had a groupon deal that I bought. Usually, when I come here they have the best calamari which is this Honey Glazed Calamari but I think they don't serve it anymore because I didn't see it as one of the options. Since its been a year ago I couldn't remember what we ordered exactly but I believe it was fish, sisig, and beef with soup. So I can't remember which dish exactly. I just remember my mom was quite happy cause she was really surprised. Cause when we walked in they greeted her happy birthday and then later surprised her with a little cupcake or ice cream i think? I was just happy that she had an awesome time for her birthday last year at patio filipino. =) Thanks for the wonderful experience. =)
We will definitely come back again when we crave for good quality filipino food. -
Review from Rob P.
Patio Filipino used to be THE upscale Filipino restaurant to go to when it first opened but it quickly went down hill. I hadn't heard good things lately... especially since the original chef and co-owner left. I went here with a big group and...while it wasn't bad and indeed there were still some tasty dishes.... overall it isn't the Patio Filipino that I remember.
THE ORDER
Pork Sisig - 4 out of 5 - Diced pork, onions and jalapenos mixed with egg. Used to be my favorite dish on the menu...still pretty good and well above average. A must for you fried pork lovers.
Lechon Kawali - 4 out of 5 - Deep fried pork cutlets with a house made sauce. Crispy, tender and surprisingly light feeling. The sauce was nice and added nice sweet notes to the crispy pork.
Ginataag Sitaw & Kalabasa - 3 out of 5 - String beans and squash with shrimp and pork sauteed in coconut milk. A little bland and unremarkable.
Lumpia - 2 out of 5 - deep fried rolls made of shrimp and pork. A staple of filipino cuisine but not done well here. I have a gut feeling these were prepared ahead of time and fried later. It just didn't taste fresh.
Beef Bulalo - 3 out of 5 - Beef shank and marrow soup with vegetables. It was a solid soup. It had nice flavor but it didn't blow my mind/
OVERALL
It is still a good example of Filipino food, not as great as it used to be, but still worth a try. If you happen to be further south, I would still personally rather go to New Mana. -

Patios adobo rice, beef caldereta, ginataang sitaw at kalabasa, fried calamares and buko com seta. Omg soooooo good. I still don't know what they are referring to because I don't know the names, but order these dishes!!
Groupon led me here, and the place gets full pretty fast! the place looks real fancy, and the prices are very reasonable. I'd definitely come back here. =)
The only one thing I felt a bit awkward about was that they were holding my phone for a long time trying to verify my groupon.... Otherwise, flawless place. -

Every time I go home to San Francisco I realize how much better the Flipino food is over there than in NYC. My family and I went to lunch at Patio Filipino and ordered up a feast:
- Kare-kare (I did not eat this or the Chicharron Bulaklak because I don't eat meat so the reviews are from my family below)
This was a special request from my Aunt who was visiting from Toronto where she said the Filipino food situation is pretty much non-existent
My cousin who was visiting from the Philippines said that the Kare-kare was even better than a lot of places in Manila
- Chicharron Bulaklak
My family seemed to really love it since they ate practically all of it! My mom is a pretty tough food critic and she said it was perfectly crispy and had a lot of flavor
- Sinigang na hipon
The broth was delicious and well balanced. Not too salty, lots of flavor. There was a good amount of eggplant, okra, green beans and daikon which I love. It is hard to get Sinigang with that variety of ingredients. The shrimp was perfectly cooked.
- Garlic fried rice
Had delicious bits of fried garlic and wasn't doused in soy sauce. The scallions were a good addition and gave it some more color.
- Vegetarian lumpia
Nice and cripsy, you could actually taste the vegetables
GSK
- Really tasty fresh squash, green beans and shrimp that were all perfectly cooked and not mushy.
I wish we had room for dessert since the halo-halo looked great as well.
We had good service and the atmosphere was very friendly and thank god not a steam tray in sight!
Next time I come to town I am making a stop right before I go to the airport! -

What a cute, family place.
Parking is a nightmare.
The restaurant was crowded, and I believe there were people waiting outside. The boyfriend made reservations, so we were quickly seated. Service was professional and fast.
Since we both aren't Filipino, I was expecting them to recommend some dishes, but was quite disappointed when we picked all fried dishes and the waiter didn't bother saying a thing. The dishes are a little more pricey than I would expect, but it does come with the restaurant ambiance. The garlic rice was $5.50! Whaaa... it almost killed me to buy a bowl of rice for $5.
I probably won't come back because this place was quite the drive, but I hear the lunch menu is well worth it.
Good thing we had a Groupon. -

South San Francisco, CA
I visited this place last Monday and finally found some time to write a review. A friend of mine gave me a groupon to use so it was worth a shot, considering that South City is full of filipino restaurants. I've heard a lot of good things about this place so I asked my friends downtown to join me as well, hoping they wouldn't waste their trip to suburbia.
Overall, the food was GOOD and very tasty. I eat fairly healthy, but this was one night that I had to forgo that thought process. My friends thoroughly enjoyed the food as well. Here's what we ate:
Vegetable eggroll appetizer = a bit expensive to take a few eaches of eggrolls and chop it up into thirds. It was tasty, don't get me wrong.
Pork Sinigang = very tasty soup for such a cold night. The rather large bowl contained the vegetables I would normally see in a traditional sinigang bowl. The pork was tender and the soup was tart and sour, the way my mom would make it.
Pork sisig = I was a bit disappointed in the sisig because they took the egg and incorporated it with the sliced and diced pork pieces. I'm used to seeing the pork pieces and a fried egg on top.
Pork adobo fried rice = tasty, tasty, but a little soggy, but tasty regardless. The dish contained some adobo pork pieces, which was a delight.
Pancit combination = just like my mom makes it, a mix of bihon and lo-mein type noodles with a squeeze of lemon, BAM, it's complete.
The staff was very nice and service was prompt. For a Monday night, there was a lot of people so reservations are strongly recommended. -

I bought a Groupon deal for this place a few weeks back. Last Tuesday two colleagues and I came here as planned for a pre-Thanksgiving holiday luncheon. I had been here prior to that and expected positive things.
I allowed the other two to do the ordering because they knew the food best. We settled for the crispy pata (pork leg) and a soup item with clear noodles and vegetables inside. Both were great. The crispy pata resembled the Chinese roast pork but with more crispy skin and dark meat (which I personally prefer more so than the white meat part).
The server was very good and attentive, but I felt the hostess behind the cash register could have been a bit more so. -

I'm not a big fan of the Binagaoogan but at Patio Filipino I am this entree's groupie! It is so delicious here! I know the dish is severly unhealthy but I can not deny that the deep fried crispy porked and hints of bagaoong and mango were a hit in my mouth!!! The Binagaoogan is definitely worth trying!
It was a birthday party so we ordered enough food for 15 people and still left with left overs. Its a pricey here than most of the other Filipino restuarants in Daly City but its worth it!!! -

Came here with my bf and his cousin using a Groupon. We showed up around 6:40ish and good thing we didn't show up any later than that. The place got full really fast! When I first walked in, the place looked really fancy...and I though to myself, "uh oh, we're going to be spending a bit of money." Not at all. The prices are reasonable for the size of the dishes. I can't remember the names of the dishes, but the food was awesome. Bf and I agreed that we'd be coming back again. =)
Reason why it's not a 5-star rating is that I felt like we were being rushed out. =/ -

My best took me here for my birthday!! I loved it!!
Crispy pata and sisig is delish! This is not your typical filipino restaurant. They actually fill your plate.. not stingy at all ;D
Probably one of the best sisig yet. Perfect hint of citrus and the crunch is to die for. I think they put chicharon in there.
We also ordered the paella. It's not runny, which is GREAT! I watched on the Food Network once that in Spain they literally let the rice stick to the bottom of the pan so it dries and becomes crunchy. Well, this is how I imagined it.
I have to go back to try their desert. -

A solid 3.5 stars for this place
I purchased a groupon deal just last week and was able to get $25 worth of food for only $12! hooray!!
I went with my parents and we ordered the pork sisig, pancit combination noodles, and garlic rice....it tallied up to about $32.
The pork sisig: It was tasty..for a while. The pork is basically deep fried bits on a sizzling plate with an egg mixed into it. It taste delicious at first, but as i was eating more of it..it became too oily for me.
Garlic Rice: also pretty good, but had too much butter in it for me
Pancit combination noodles: Our dish certainly didn't have a great ratio of thin to thick noodles. It was about 95% thin noodles and 5% thick noodles....however, it had a good taste to it
This place is good, but a little too oily (next time i'm going to try to order other things off the menu) for me to come one a regular basis. I think the food is way better than my old fav, Ongpin or maybe it's cuz the place looks cleaner...
The service was okay. The hostess was very nice and friendly, however the servers were the complete opposite! We ordered one dish that included short ribs and tomato sauce....and then when our food finally comes out he told us they were out! thanks for telling us last minute...
We also had to waive down our servers to get our check, water refills, and bags. -

The food was delicious and pretty authentic. The Bulalo was delicious, but would have preferred more meat. I've never had french fries with Bistek, but I could not stop myself from eating the spuds with the Bistek sauce. The mango calamansi juice had the perfect balance of flavors. I will definitely return to Patio Filipino.

I haven't been exposed to other types of Filipino food other than lumpia and pancit so I was quite excited to try new things.
Thanks to the food truck phenomenon and my visits to Senor Sisig, I knew to order the Pork Sisig and our server recommended the Bangalok. The sisig was flavorful and the chicarron pieces were crunchy, making the dish even better. I guess fried anything makes everything better! The string bean dish was the surprise of the night. I love coconut milk and the string beans and butternut squash were swimming in the sauce. Similar to a thai curry dish but better.
It's a nice place for a date and the price was reasonable for a "fine dining" experience. The portions were generous, enough to take home leftovers! -

Good food and large servings for the price. Be ready to have your clothes smell like the food --exhaust system not strong enough. Parking could be difficult at times.

My dad is full Chinese and the closest he's ever gotten to eating Filipino food is eating the leftover beef bone from my Lola's nilaga. I think he's a little scared of Filipino cuisine. He likes his food bland and with lots of chicken broth. His favorite dish? Macaroni soup -___-
So when my Lola's birthday came around she chose Patio Filipino. Both me and my mom were nervous because we were sure my dad would have a miserable time. He ended up enjoying his meal there and practically finished our order of beef bulalo!
I've eaten there many times after that visit and my favorite dishes are the sizzling bangus sisig (yummy alternative to pork sisig and probably less fat), kangkong with tofu (very flavorful they even mix it with bits of chorizo), and the buko con seta (their version of halo halo but instead of ice it's with coconut jello and coconut meat).
As far as Filipino restaurants go this place is really clean and the decorations are nice. If you have a friend or family member who is hesitant about trying Filipino cuisine take them here. If they're really scared take them to the Attic in downtown San Mateo - pricier but a little swankier and more fusion than traditional Filipino food. -

Very fancy ha! Food Is so flavorful! The only thing that didn't taste so good was the sisig:( which is the only thing that costed them their fifth star. Workers are sweet! ... Haha very flirty. Lol the beef is so gooooooooood! Holy shitaki mushroom. YOU MUST ORDER A HALO HALO BEFORE YOU LEAVE! So very aesthetically pleasant looking! Yum! Peace!

Okay, I'm going to start with the good points about this restaurant:
1. It's a great place to take guests from out-of-town who are craving Filipino food.
2. A pretty decent ambiance that helps enhance the dining experience.
3. A menu that offers a good array of Filipino food
Now, I have this one criticism about Patio Filipino:
1. Availability of the dishes on the menu - Depending on the night you decide to go, you will find that certain food items are NOT be available on the menu. We ordered a couple of items that our server informed us was NOT available on the menu.
I was very embarrassed for my guests and personally felt that we should've taken them to another restaurant. I don't come here often enough to know whether the items we ordered are no longer available or they simply ran out of it. But I have heard issues around this matter from other people. Here's a tip that might help: If you don't have it, post it!
This experience has to be taken into consideration if and when I plan to come back to this place. -

Here's my disclaimer: I'm new with Filipino food. I ate it at a food truck, and then decided that I needed to go out in search of another taste of the deliciousness. Patio just fell short for me.
The good:
- Delicious chicken and pork adobo
- Garlic rice is amazing
The bad
- Service was terrible
- Pork sisig was...well, like a spam hash. Not tasty at all.
I just didn't think this place was that great, and I really had my hopes up for it. Oh well. -

I haven't been here in like 4-5 years! I remember back in the day my then friend who I introduced to Filipino food & I thought this place was so awesome & raved about it. Flash forward to a couple Saturdays ago me, my bf, & his family thought our feast was alright.
I remember back then I was so excited about their lumpia, chicken adobo with the plantains, & their tofu sisig. Those three didn't impress me all that much; the lumpia was lacking something in the taste category, definitely can't compare to homemade. We got the lumpia which was included in the Patio Appetizer Sampler, also included was some squid, fried shrimp (juicy fried shrimp), some Filipino style meatloaf (alright). The adobo's meat was very bony, dry, and the sauce just lacked flavor. The tofu sisig was the better of the three that I've reminisced about but still just average. I think the tofu which was fried beforehand was a little chewy for my liking.
What we liked: The Pork Sisig & the Beef Steak Tagalog. The Sisig was served with egg and got a nice crispy charring from the sizzling plate. The Beef Steak beef was tasty with it's soy sauce and onions; the fries with it was an unusual touch but was reminiscent of Peruvian Lomo Saltado so it totally worked! I don't like coconut typically but the Halo Halo wasn't bad at all and I thought it was so cute how they serve it in a coconut.
Service was pretty good for our party of 6 + 1 baby. I wouldn't shun Patio for a dining option I just think that there are some lower priced, tasty Filipino restaurants around the northern Peninsula area. Their Sisig is one of the better tasting ones I've had though I must admit.Listed in: Got Beef?

There are three things I ALWAYS order when I am here (please excuse me as I butcher the spelling): Crispy Binagoongang (fried pork with a mango salsa and bagoong), Bulalo (beef soup, with bok choy & cabbage) and Buko Pandan (coconut dessert with ice cream and fillings inside a coconut).
I love the way it's furnished and how the wait staff is dressed. The only thing is the service is somewhat slow and inconsistent. -

Food is ok but one important thing lacking....service...
First they didnt have calamari at 7pm (this place opens at 530) what the hell! Next, the first waiter was abrasive and not friendly. Then our next waiter never comes back to our table. We had to flag down the busboy for the waiter to come to us. Then it takes about 10-15 minutes for the third waiter to ask us if we're done with food so he can give the check. On top of that, this waiter made us put our own food in the boxes he gave us while he puts the food for his own friends in the bag. TO sum it all up food is OK (not worth the price though) and service is really really bad. -

If you're looking to experience nice, sit-down Filipino cuisine outside of what you've tried at the Filipino house party grub downs, then you've come to the right place! It may look shy and demure from the outside of El Camino, but when you step in, you are greeted by the hustle and bustle of this busy place - every white tableclothed table filled with what seemed to be happy customers.
Absolutely cannot go wrong with literally a plateful of lumpianitas to start. The sotanghon guidsado (glass noodles w/ beef and veggies) was on point - think chow mein with clear noodles and a bit on the wetter side with this delicious thick broth coating every noodle. And of course, the crispy pata was one of the best I've ever had at a restaurant. One piece was big enough to feed the three of us. And the ginataang sitaw at kalabasa (string beans & squash with pork and shrimp stewed in coconut milk) was one of my favorites as well. One of my favorite FIlipino dishes overall, and Patio Filipino did it justice.
The only thing that didn't quite impress me was the paella valenciana. For the priciest item on the menu ($22.95), it fell short of expectations. There was something about the rice that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I think it was a bit undercooked.
Other than that, everything else was excellent. Portions are huge - we had leftovers for days. The service was decent for being a busy little restaurant. And I finished off the meal with Mango Supremo - slice of mango cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Simply delicious.
Can't wait to come here again!Listed in: The Peninsula!

A really cute "hole in the wall" dive. Don't be afraid by the overwhelming ethnicity. It was super busy when we went for a late lunch, but well worth the wait. Excellent, really authentic food, huge portions at great prices!

Many Filipino restaurants are just so simple and nothing fancy. Patio Filipino takes it up a notch, and makes dining more formal, but they also are significantly pricier as well.
I've eaten here many, many, many countless times and I always come back for more. The food is excellent.
I'd recommend the Lechon Kawali, calamari and garlic fried rice. I was a little disappointed in their Chicken Afritada, however. That is by far, my most favorite Filipino dish, but here it is just okay. I've ordered it on two occassions, and both times, it was a little bland and the sauce was just, eh...
In all, this is probably the most "formal" sit down Filipino Restaurants and one of my favorites. Highly recommend.
